Most favourite and Best Skin on the FireTV for XBMC? - Fire TV Themes and Apps

What's your guys' verdict for best Skin on the XBMC for FTV?
I've always used Confluence with my Apple TV2 and now the Fire TV.. however I find its pretty standard and can't do too much, but I do like the Addon Shortcuts how their are listed below.
Aeon Flux looks good, but almost a bit overwhelming and complicated to manoeuvre around.

I like Ace. It's not very heavy and it is very customizable. Like adding addons or favorites to the home screen.

Amber
The Amber skin is customizable, light-weight and also features a nice vertical layout. Works really well for me.

Not sure how I feel about this amber skin.. the colours just seem off.

If you like confluence, but don't like the limitations, you should try CCM, Confluence Customizable Mod.

This is it! That looks nice and exactly what I was hoping for I can even add 7 shortcuts instead of 5, this seems like something I can work with and customize more cause I think the Confluence looks good just is lacking some so perhaps this CCM can make up for the lacking

Not sure what you mean about colors in Amber as everything from the default picture to the individual app screens are customizable. I dislike any horizontal UI setup because I dealt for years prior with that antiquated platform known as the Roku.

When you say horizontal you mean the scroll bar on the bottom that has all the headings?
What does your look like exactly?

Yes, that horizontal scroll bar type UI is totally detested as I require a vertical home screen view. Here is a view of my personalized vertical UI home screen in Amber as seen below.

Atm also using Amber until Eminence adds sync labels to subtitles download dialog. Eminence is a really beautiful skin, still work in progress but already very usable.

It's just my preference as is. You can customize Amber any way you want.

I've been using a somewhat new skin called CO2 by iCanuck. Probably not my personal fav but ease of use for wife/kids is ideal!

Eminece is absolutely gorgeous. It mimics the look of the LG webOS smart TV interface, so it's not only good looking, but is easy to use and certainly has a high WAF

Now that looks like a real nice skin!
Ive played around with Aeon Nox over the weekend and set it up quite a bit.. really liking the look of it. But give this Eminece one a try also, like the plan but very clean look.

Conq. Super simple and super sexy.

I use refocus.
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=191491

No one mentions Confluence ++? If it had an option for a vertical menu (there is an XBMC skin like that) it would be perfect for me.

I use convergence. It has a vertical layout that works well for me on the fire.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

I use Aeon Nox 5, also known as Aeon Nox Redux. Lightning fast and have had no issues at all. Love the ability to add a menu item with custom submenus.

So, who vote for the the bests on order?
I am really confused with too many skins

Alternate CSS Theme for XDA Devs Forum (Blue, Grey, more!)

I've never been a big fan of the yellow XDA theme, and I've never seen a way to change it, so I grabbed the CSS from the site and put it into Stylish, a Firefox CSS tweak extension, and modified it so the yellow tones are changed to different colors, see the full list below. It also narrows the page to 'only' 1200 pixels, in case you're using it on a huge monitor and don't want the page being that wide. It's easy to edit at the top of the code if you don't like that change.
Just thought I'd post this in case anyone else would want this sort of thing. I'm NO CSS ninja, I just clumsily hacked on it. The XDA icons are still yellow/brown, some of the links in the Dark Grey probably need tweaking.
Thanks to sickbox the bug in my CSS edits which make the top bar with User CP/FAQ etc disappear when you hover over the links is fixed!
The Stylish code is here, you'll need Firefox+Stylish Extension, Greasemonkey, or Opera to use it.

NEW! XDA 2010 Theme!
Blue - http://userstyles.org/styles/43606?r=1296614893
Above is my initial shot at converting the 2010 XDA theme to a blue. Once I work out the places to change, I can pretty easily add Greys etc. Help would be appreciated!
New!! XDA 2015 Themes
For the Dark theme
Blue - https://userstyles.org/styles/106066/xda-developers-2015-dark-theme
For the default (light) theme
Blue - https://userstyles.org/styles/106068/xda-developers-2015-light-theme
For 2015 I've only modified areas with wasted space and changed the font from Orange to Blue. It's still in beta a bit, I still have some clean up I'd like to do but I think it might be useful to some people.
Hope it's useful to some folks. I'm using it full time.
Good idea, I'd personally go with more subdued colors. I'd recommend http://kuler.adobe.com to find a complementary combination of blues.

Blue theme updated to match those colors.. That was easy. Working on Red and Green. Added Grey and Dark Grey.
Awesome job, I really like the blue and grey!
I'm also in for the blue and grey! great work!!
I use the blue theme, that works great =D !
And it change the monotony of xda colors...
It's the XDA Powwerrrr !
A basic place with extra men.
thanks man loving the dark grey
I use the blue theme, it really sets XDA apart from the others See ?

Wow! The blue theme really does look good! I modified mine to fit the 1920x1080p display of my laptop.
I actually don't mind the disappearing text on the top bar because now I know when I'm hovering over a link.
im liking the blue theme too just a few images off color but im sure you will figure that out soon. im using it with the new vbulletin plugin for firefox which has a menu bar on the bottom so the disappearing links at the top dont bother me either. thanks for doing this, its nice to have a change of scenery every now and then.
How to get this working in Opera (hope nobody sent it yet):
Open the code in post #1, copy the all source code except the mozilla stuff (@namespace and @-moz-document)
Now, open eg notepad, put there all the text and save it as eg C:\xda.css
Now in Opera, open xda forums -> right click -> Edit local preferences -> Display (Graphics??) and there will be select for User CSS. Select the C:\xda.css -> click OK -> reload page and voila
If you're talking about the themes...
There goes mine, black-gray-whatever, it isn't finished (I must get look the same index and listing pages), but the base is fine and doesn't hurt eyes in night
http://userstyles.org/styles/24118
yeah here is mine, its black, blue, grey still have some tweaking to do but if anybody wants to try it...

Just wanted to say thanks... it's rad, and it's easy... like my dates used to be..

Jeez, I can't believe I am only now seeing this for the first time today -- January 12, 2010 ! -- 7 months later. God, if only i'd known before. What a welcome sight!
Looks like maybe I should be bumping this thread every so often! Glad people are enjoying it. I know I immediately install UserStyles and the Blue theme when I jump on a computer which doesn't have it, that Yellow just kills me.

EDIT: also if the notifications pull down looked like a toolshed...red bar with a chrome handle and a transparent background....
it looks pretty nice!
good work, looks tight
Looks great, but how are you theming 3rd party apps? If the icons are in the apk's wont they disapear when the app is updated, or are you using better cut?

Black Hero/Tray icons - Better..? Worse..? Not included in CAB as of now..
Only problem I see is the black on black hold over..
The black icons look better for me.
This is ridiculously nice work!!
I like the black tray icons also.
My next manilla flash will be enhanced with this theme.
Please post at WC's forum for the benefit of his followers.
Hey MrRusch, this Manilla skin really shines!! Have it on my mobile since you came up with it... allready searched for backgrounds fitting the best... Great work!
However, just some thoughts: I installed the black icon suite and like the Black ones much better... However I have an additional Manilla tab due to the MTP app (which btw. really roxx) and this one stayed white... why is that?
I'd love to have all the other silver Buttons with black Font too... the white font on the long silver Buttons like in the Contact menu is sometimes real hard to read... Could you make an all black version?
Maybe it would be possible to overcome the hold over problem with the black symbols by outlining them with a thin thile or silver line ... nearly invisable in the Tray symbols but good for the big hold over version.
Last idea: To a metallic look an analog watch with nice metalic reflections and maybe even Roman letters would fit the best... but thats to much work I guess...
Thanks for your work - keep it up m8!!!

Hi Guys
I'm interested in making a Theme but I have no ideas which "style" i should choose
I already experimented a bit and have a few ideas but don't know if anyone wants them to have
my idea was for example to do a "Simpsons-Theme" or a "Little-Droids-Theme" and then change also the Icons to a simpsonsstyle and also the lockscreen and and and..
I hope some guys can reply with their ideas and favourites!
thanks guys..and for a reward I'll make the Theme for you/us
here are just 2 pictures of my experimental Theme..little Droids moving from the middle to the left/right on the Lockscreen

Hey dude. I see you posting a lot in the Doc thread Hows it going? Coooooool
So. How about a theme set to some artwork ideas from H.R Giger. He created the original Alien design from the movies. He has some messed up style but it is a cool concept for this type of thing i believe. For example you could use one of his spinal cord concept for a lock screen. Check it out man
http://www.google.com.au/images?um=...&sa=1&q=h.r+giger&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
It's almost like industrial / scifi - please keep this in mind as it WILL BE RAD!
I have a very large collection of his artwork if it helps i could email?
I would suggest but prefer doing one on my own I like the black/transparent one tho. Just not that much colors. I will make something like this when i learn how to
less is more in my case so black and white is the way to go... it will go nice with my future "wp7" theme
You might take a look at themed omnia's on modaco. Might tricker some ideas. Jn foundation made some nice graphics on his rom to
Personal i think that glassy black looks cool.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i've the problem that i can't decide wether i like COLORS or wether i like DECENT BLACK
sometimes this and sometimes that
maybe i should make both variants and then just change everyday to the one i prefer
but thanks mates..some nice ideas
Hi,
This is an idea I have for a long time, How about a totally XXX theme? like battery icon with lowering bra for one, & all icons modded with kamasutra in mind???
This is just an idea. Use your imagination. Could be a Hit on the market.

forum.xda showthread.php?t=829199 . Elegant steel without icon change!! This theme is just so beautiful and simple, I love it, but those icons would be stock ones.
Jesus, I can't put the link...
I think this is a really great theme you could draw inspiration from. Basically its a theme where the icons and widgets are designed to look like part of the background, and of course the cartoonish sketchy style is really cool too. But I would prefer if the B&white was reversed to save on battery life.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8360167&postcount=7071
Another idea for a theme. ie simcity. Background will be a grid of roads and highways. The icons and widget will be city buildings or vehicles, and for really big widgets, they can incorporate their own road connections along their edges and corners so they can still be placed anywhere on the background and still blend into the road grid.

i also thought about a "wood"style or a "glass"style..just something that looks like a real material..
maybe even rubber or marble
Hmmm for the simcity theme, most icons should probably be vehicles that'll literally become moving traffic when I'm flipping thru the homescreens, and there could be traffic lights that change colour on cue when the user is flippin thru the homescreens, it could be really fun! The larger widgets will have to be buildings though, like a clock tower for time, a stadium with message banner.
I wonder if its possible to include walking pedestrians and a count of the pedestrian killed by traffic when flipping thru the homescreens.
Another idea, a Resident Evil theme. The icons are living people, the background contain moving zombies. Or vice versa. If zombies move onto icon squares, then an animation begins that changes the people icons to a bloody corpse. Resets every few minutes of course.

Interesting Idea for Metro UI Revamp

Not sure I like the tiles, but the app list is great. I do also like the background - when WP first came out I wanted custom backgrounds, but I've mellowed a bit in that sense and don't think a photo would work too well, but something like what's shown would.
looks very very nice! especially the rss feed and the app list
I dont like the unneccesary blue border chrome around the tiles. Metro embraces minimalism. I like the app list option but I use the search feature 90% of the time. Otherise I like the looks of it. I think semi transparent tiles with custom backgrounds would be nice.

I think he is saying more of, this is what should be possible. Different themes that change the colors and background to add some personality. I would love to see these kinds of features added. In my opinion, the biggest drawback on wp7 is the lack of personality. My phone should be exactly that. My phone. How i want it to look and feel. Some day i am sure there will be themes like this.
I like it. Dont know why, but it reminds me of a classy, expensive watch. Nice.
Original is better IMO, don't turn this into Android lol.

exactly my thoughts
The 1.5x2 tile with interactive elements is pretty sweet.

I like the ideas. Very thoughtful.
I would also add that limiting the screen Real-estate used by the arrow to get to the programs list would be a great addition. There must be a better way. This would allow for larger tiles (width wise).
I'd like GREK's layouts and graphics, looks cool. I hope MS will implement (at least!) a custom background for the home screen!
Not sure in live tile,
but i like the app category concept.
I've seen this concept a couple months back, I like things better the way they're headed now.
I have a feeling that MS is going for a certain aesthetic with the home screen, and expecting them to get rid of the arrow and blank space on the right is wishful thinking.

Personally, I would like the ability to have some "favorites" pinned to the top of the App List screen. My most commonly used items are pinned to the Start screen, of course, and then my next most-used items are pinned to the top of the App List screen. The rest just fall under the App List itself. Does that make sense?
This is actually how I use Windows 7: most used stuff is pinned to the Taskbar, the next most used is pinned to my Start Menu, and the rest falls under the All Programs menus.
Just my $.02
Also, I like the collapsible App List groups. Clever.

Totally agree, I do exactly the same. All the apps i use on a regular basis on taskbar, those I use maybe a few times a month are on the start menu, the rest are under all programs.
I do it as well. Its productive. Keeps me from having to look.

It'd make even more sense in WP7. Your Live Tiles on your start screen. Your favorite apps under a favorites menu & the rest under the app list. It would clean up the start screen a lot. I have a lot of apps there right now just for easy access, but don't have live tile support.
I tend to keep my start screen tiles to a minimal few. By minimal I mean less than 40. This includes my marketplace and settings tiles as well as the dialer, people hub, picture hub, Zune, calendar, and messaging hub. All three of my email tiles are on the start screen (this may change with Mango/Linked inboxes).
Most of, if not all of, my other tiles are live tiles except IMDB. That being said, I wouldn't be opposed to a collapsible favorites area. But, I'm also good with things just as they are having the ability to search or use the jump list.
I suppose, however, that the start screen could get a little longer with the increase to 30 live tiles. I guess time will tell.
The concept looks nice. It's nice to watch and work with opposed to current dreadful WP7 look & feel.
