Update = No Ambient Mode - Moto 360

I just received my new watch directly from Moto this afternoon. It updated on initialization and there were a lot of new watchfaces. Also... Am I crazy or did I get an update and ambient mode is gone?
My current build is KKW22.

Hmm strange my build is KGW42N, and I just have the stock watch faces. Also ambient mode option remains in settings. Wonder if there is an update coming through. Will be interesting to see if other watches direct from Moto, Best Buy, Google will have this build number. I got mine from Best Buy on the day after launch day

I also got my new 360 from moto and my current build is KKW22 as well. I don't see an ambient mode in settings, all I see is "always-on screen"..I also see new watchfaces...I see photos, increment, simple, planetary, Polar, Rings, Coodinates (which looks really cool), dsahboad, orbit, reveal, digitalog, aviator as the names for watch faces.

So what are the remaining display options and what do they do? I require my watch have some sort of "always on" functionality as I dont want to be bothered with waking it up.

4.4w1 as well. From Moto

Yep same thing. Purchased from Best Buy.

KKW22 is the stock firmware, it should update to KGW42N.. so I wonder where our watch faces went.

Lost watch faces
Anyone able to post pics of these?

KGW42N here, wish there were some pics of the watch faces you guys have.

I've got the same issue as all of you. Without the ambient sensor setting, the battery life is tanking hard. Build KKW22 as well. Except I have the Moto faces. It's also stopped vibrating when I receive messages. Now I'm completely confused.
I suppose we wait for an update? Or is there a way to manually update?

It looks like they just renamed ambient mode (which is very helpful). Ambient mode is just the way "always on" is named. Auto-brightness is completely different. To turn on auto-brightness go into brightness settings and check "auto" But yeah I second pictures of the watch faces please =]

The ambient check box for me was replaced by the older "screen on" option when my watch updated to the new OTA.

Moto 360 Battery
I have KKW22 build and 4.4W software version as well. When I check for updates, it says the system is up to date. Got the grey build from Best Buy yesterday..
Charged my watch over night. Began at a 100% at 8am today, and I'm at 55% at 10am.. I've been on auto-brightness, and my always-on screen setting has been off.
Not sure if I'm missing something, but at this rate, my battery life is going to be 4-4.5 hours tops.. Not what I was expecting!

KGW42N 4.4w.1
Bought directly through moto. Ambient off, screen off. Took off charger at 6am. So far, running through battery a bit faster than the LG G watch. But not horrid.

We need a dump of the KKW22 over in this thread

Happy to make a dump of the KKW22, steps on how to do it?

Seems to be a disconnect. Motorola shipped w/ ambient mode disabled and extra watchfaces. The ones at BB and Play are different.

This simply has to be user error. Try rebooting or something. Obviously 4 hours is not considered standard by anyone's benchmark.

It's an exclusive for LG for an unknown amount of time to sell more urbanes.
I want my damn wifi.
Asus Zenwatch roll out is started
I manually downloaded Android Wear 1.1.1.1901499 but no update of my SW3 so far.
Asus Zen Watch getting it http://www.droid-life.com/2015/05/1...ing-out-to-asus-zenwatch-according-to-owners/
Keep checking the sony compain app (windows). Plus sony is kinda known for taking dor ever to push updates.
An hour ago I even tried resetting the watch to force the update. The OTA for the Sony SW3 is not out yet
Someone on android central under the ZenWatch update post, mentioned they received it on their Sony Smartwatch 3. So who knows. Just tried and nothing for me yet.
OK saw that you post a comment at the end.
http://www.androidcentral.com/download-android-511-asus-zenwatch-now
I'm not sure if the download also is usable on our SW3 so I can#t belive that the download is used to flash our SW3.
Maybe he got an normal OTA update

After a moderate amount of searching, I can't find any occurrences of someone claiming they got an update that way before it showed up OTA. Have you?
Just tried it anyway, with expected results. No joy.
Me neither

Come on update! I am ready!!
Just got another android wear app update, tried a watch reset but no luck.
Feels like they were bragging about Wear 5.1 pretty early just for the competition from Apple
https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!category-topic/android-wear/Dm-_S6xxtS4
Argggghhhh. Where is it? Please post if anyone gets it on SW3
The watches getting updates first are the non-wifi ones. Urbane is the only wifi capable AW device with 5.1, but there was a critical bug that prevented it from accessing wifi channels above 11. So be thankful that the Urbane users are beta testing 5.1 for us and it'll be less buggy when the rollout for SW3 happens eventually.
USA doesn't use 2.4ghz ch12 so I see how they missed that. But for those in Europe that would be important.
Google is now rolling out the update!
http://www.xda-developers.com/android-wear-5-1-1-ota-downloads/
But not to the SW3, yet.

Next Version of AW being tested on Huawei Watch

It sounds like Android Wear should be updated "soon" and we "should" have the speaker support all of us Huawei Watch owners have been longing for.
The next version of Android Wear is being tested on the Huawei Watch from the sounds of it. I would bet (hope) the Huawei Watch sees the update first! Here is a link to the article by Android Police:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/1...i-watch-and-it-finally-activates-the-speaker/
Anyone have any idea how to become a member of this testing group?

I was just coming over to post the same article. This may make my regret of leaving the Gear S go away!
This is why I bought this watch, for speakerphone support on Wear 1.4 update.
The ZenWatch 2 also has a speaker and should also receive an update. No other Wear watches have a speaker.
I hope that this is not fake.

Yea this is not fake.
The LG Urbane 2 LTE came with this version and had the speaker enabled. The Urbane was supposed to release with it but was recalled due to some "hardware" issues.
I specifically bought the Huawei watch for this specific reason. Watch calls from inside my pool this summer, yes!
I WISH they would include an option for a keyboard. Yes it is not ideal or reasonable for normal use, but there are some times when it would be awesome. Options are always good, even if they are disabled by default. Even a T9 style old school input would be awesome.

I use these two apps:
Mail for Android Wear
And
Messages for Android Wear
They are both replacement apps and are by the same Dev and have tiny keyboards that can be gotten used to!
They also have a web browser that works... well... It works...
I hope this is real. I'd love to have audio notifications on my H Watch.
Just waiting for someone to leak the firmware and confirm its true.
The guy who recieved the update didn't make a system dump before installing the update. This can only be done BEFORE installing. So there is no hope, we will get the update from him. Unless there is another user that copies the update.zip before installing.
On the other hand he won't be the only one to recieve this test build.

This device has an unlocked bootloader and a redily available copy of twrp.
ANY ONE who got that update could distribute it with in just a few minutes...
1. Receive update.
2. Let it apply
3. Unlock bootloader
4. Flash TWRP
5. Back up entire system
6. Post to internet.
But to what you are saying... Yes, it is correct that you can only get the update.zip before install. However see my point about getting the entire deal.
Then anyone could restore his TWRP back up and have whatever it is he has...
Perhaps newer builds of the firmware will be more widely tested soon, and more likely to leak out.....
The thing that's bothering me is that perhaps we might not get this firmware at all, and that it might be for testing features in a new 2016 watch from Huawei.
figures crossed we WILL get a download of this soon

Marshmallow might be on its way soon.

That blew my mind too. I was wondering if there was a reason like it was easier for them to do a older phone first for a software rollout. But it could be just Verizon being Verizon. Messing with our heads.

I think the modified status has something to do with some models receiving certain updates at certain times. I have 2 of them and one a few months older and it said modified after an update right after I got it. The newer one doesn't say modified and it came with later software. But I've always taken ota's on the modified one

Ive gone through quite a few G4s and I think some were botched from Verizon after installing their bloat and weren't reverted back to "Official" status. Verizon is aware of the issue and say it is normal.
On the update. The LG G2 got Kitkat before the LG G3 did. Who knows. Maybe they do it as a test to see how it preforms before releasing it to the newer gen.
Verizon G2 also got lollipop before Verizon G3.

Do you happen to remember the time frame between the g2 and the g3 update? Just curious if Verizon keeps it similar.
Verizon really annoys me. Why does it take them so long to roll out updates........are they too caught up trying to figure out how to load more bloatware on the update or something. At this point I'll be on to one of the new phones this year before the update even comes out. I like LG but this experience due to Verizon;s greed is making me consider either a different brand they dont lock down as much or possibly leaving.....which sucks because they do have the best coverage (AT least for me).

AT&T doesn't have it either. The other 2 carriers got 6.0. I would bet Verizon will get 6.0.1
Keep in mind, if a carrier sends out an update for a carrier variation and it has a ton of bugs due to rushing it, LG isn't going to be the one getting all the calls. I'd say that's reason enough to want to make sure it gets released when it's ready.

If you play games a lot that effects battery. I gained an extra hr of battery getting rid of my Facebook app and use Facebook through chrome. Just added a link to my home screen and set up notifications through my email.
If you have the Facebook app and don't have sync set up, it still runs in the background "resource hog". Hangouts, Google music, Google magazine or whatever it's called are always running in the background.
Just because you have nothing syncing doesn't mean that they aren't running in the background.
Ps. I leave sync on for everything. I also always clear my recents when I am done using my phone.
Hopefully this helps.
No fb app, never used it

Huawei Watch - Android Wear 1.4 Update

The Huawei Watch Update to Android Wear 1.4 will start next monday, 29th.
The update will bringt some new features, especially the support for the build in speaker. Referring to latest information it will be possible to listen to Spotify offline playlists with the Watch. There will be also a new reminder and a keyboard.
I'm rellay looking forward to the update!
Edit link is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65606670&postcount=97

I'll believe it when I see (and hear it) myself on my wrist.
At this point people have had to wait quite a while for the update with very little news from Huawei.
God help us to see it!
it "starts" on Monday but Huawei have not detailed the update roadmap (which countries first etc..)....

Really? All the other watches to update so far don't even get the full benefit of the update because they don't have a speaker. I'd much rather have a well tested update that I don't have to worry about rather than the bricking mess that Moto is going through right now.

I realy love the watch without speaker. When i bought it i have no ideea that next update will bring speaker support. I think thats a briliant ideea to buy a product and after month and month when its getting old redescover same old product and love it again with a new feature. You wait long for update from google or huawei? U shoud see samsung users how long they have to wait for an update. Google just confirm speaker suport few month ago. Last year it was just rumoors never confirm. I am just curios how loud is the speaker.

I do believe he is referring to DOZE feature that turns off even ambient mode after a while if it senses it is not worn. OR the wake-up gesture that will be seconded by the "sleep" gesture where you lay your hand next to body and watch is put in ambient/screen off.

Thats the problem. It even turns the display off if you wear the watch.
Actually, I find it pretty neat and it already works for me in the current firmware. When I fall asleep on the couch with my watch on the wrist I wake up with it having display off. The same happens when you leave your watch on the table unattended. It works quite consistently as I never experience this "doze" mode when working at the desk or moving in general.
That's true. I also noticed this a few times when it's just on the desk, it turns off after 2 hours of non-movement

I know that the display is turned off after a while when you put the watch on the desk, but that's not new, that's already the case.

Ok, thanks. I guess I'll stay on 8.1 then.

AFIK, VoLTE can only be enabled at 8.1. This update is still 8.0 so there's no VoLTE still. As for the color options, I still prefer the more natural colors. The boosted is fine, just a tad bit more vibrant than natural. But the saturated mode tho! The reds really pop, almost to the point they hurt my eyes.
Here are some pics btw (left to right: boosted, natural, and saturated)
Except for galaxy S4 for a year, I used exclusively nexus devices since the Nexus one. Perhaps I am not that used to the vibrant colors of samsung devices, I actually had no problem with the old natural sRGB display before the update. Just updated few hours ago and I changed the display settings back and forth...... and yes... I agree the more saturated display usually does look better, but it's also a bit fake to my eyes
I'm wondering if I'll get that update since I'm on 8.1 developer preview?
