Mic not working anymore.. YAY! - T-Mobile LG G3

As of yesterday (before I took the update) my mic just stopped working. The bottom mic that is. If I use speakerphone (which uses the top mic) it's fine. Factory reset twice, still doing it. Time to call T-MO, have not even had this thing 30 days yet.
The really crazy part is, I have a Gear Live watch that the mic stopped working on a couple days ago as well. Bummer week for tech.

BAD ASS G3

So the replacement they sent me was a refurb. It has a small scratch across the rear camera glass, and the screen has a thin red line of pixels that goes from top to bottom.
So... G3 #3 will be here tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Well then, G3 #3 just failed on me. Same problem as my first one, the mic stopped working.
Tmo tried to help me out by talking me into getting a Note 4, essentially for free. But I ended up just doing another warranty exchange.
Here's hoping G3 #4 is the one. I have to be the luckiest guy in the world..

Well then someone is jinxed i sadly recommend the note4 if #4 doesnt work or insist they not send you refurbs

[Q] Should I unroot to get a blown speaker replaced?

I have a blown rear speaker in my Evo. I am going to be getting it replaced next weekend when my local Sprint store gets some in. I have my phone rooted via Unrevoked and i also have S-off. With the new updates (3.29, Radios, PRIs, Desire rom, MIUI) I have been a little worried about flashing anything new before I take my phone in for repair, because I have heard that either the newest radio or NV will not allow for the S-on tool to work. So what would you recommend? Should I leave my phone rooted and flash away and just install a stock (rooted) rom and uninstall SU before taking my phone in, or should I run a RUU to unroot and leave S-off, or should I go for the whole nine and turn S-on and then run RUU and start over after the speaker is replaced? Any thoughts, suggestions, experiences, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Are you getting just the speaker replaced or the whole phone? I had to get my screen replaced last week and I was fully rooted running CM6 AOSP. They didnt even ask any questions about it. Replaced screen free of charge along with the bezel around the volume and power buttons which were cracked. Im not telling you what you should do just sharing my experience.

I am just getting the speaker replaced. I would rather keep my phone then get a refurb and have to possibly deal with new issues. I am thinking that I can just flash a stock rom but leave S-off just to make things easier. Thanks for sharing this. I have read somewhere that Sprint will do repairs for free even if you are still rooted, but it is possible for them to flag your account that you have a rooted phone and can possibly cause you issues. I hope that this doesn't happen to you.
I've got the blown speaker problem too. But it is a rattling problem. I can still hear people fine. I had decided to live with it because I didnt want to risk getting a refurb phone. Do all the sprint stores actually replace the speaker? Also, is the replacement a better quality one? Or would I wind up with another blown one within a couple weeks?

Yes mine just sound really rattly and poppy, thats how they do when they are blown. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they all do that when they blow. Not all Sprint stores will replace the speaker, just go to sprint.com, click find a store, enter your location, check to see if any of the stores in your area have "repair store" checked, if they do call that store and ask them if they have any speakers in stock. If they do you will likely have to get them to order one and wait about a week and a half for them to receive it, when they get it in go by the store and they will replace it for you in just a few minutes. As of now there is no aftermarket speakers, so you are stuck with HTC's low quality speaker for now. So it is possible for it to blow again soon, just try your hardest not to turn your volume all the way up as much as possible. Also try to keep metal shavings away from the phone. My phone and a co-worker of mine's Incredible blew within 2 days of each other, I think it is because of the metal shavings from drilling while at work. I would say it is a design flaw on HTC's part to have the speakers exposed enough to where the magnet draws metal shaving in.
4 months.... 4 blown speakers... Thankfully the Sprint store in my area seems to keep them in stock... the first phone got swapped for a new one per 30 day return policy... the next two speakers were replaced in store (after the 1 hour mandatory waiting period for a 5 mintue fix)... and the speaker blew again today.
Yes I use speaker phone a lot
Yes I listen to Pandora/Slacker radio
Yes I have custom ringtones/notification sounds
Yes I watch Youtube and Sprint TV
and Yes I have it at 100% volume.... the hardware should exceed the capabilities of anything the end-user could put it through...
I am just so darned frustrated with the whole process at this point that I ordered and paid for replacement speakers...
so the next question would be.... is there a replacement speaker that can handle the intended use of this phone?
If you are concerned about having a rooted phone repaired, you could just fix it yourself. Replacing the speaker is incredibly easy. Just buy a housing assembly at an online store or eBay. Should come with a speaker. Pop it off and swap it with the one in your evo. The entire job, including opening and closing your phone, should not take more than 5 or 10 minutes.

[Q] HTC ONE X LOW mic issue

Hi everybody, I've been googling and looking into all the posts (here in xda) I could related to my problem.
Currently I'm in Nepal, and bought a second hand One X International version; the unit was barely used with very minor wear signs. A couple of weeks ago I was driving on the road and it started pouring rain, made it home in about 5 mins. Phone did not appear to have gotten very wet, however I took the silicon case of and dried the screen with a piece of cloth. I forgot to turn the phone off and as everything seemed fine, I continued using it for the next couple of days.
Two weeks later I start getting complains from people I was on the phone with stating that they could barely hear me, but oddly enough at times they mic volume went up and all the sudden they could hear me crystal clear.
If I turn the phone into speaker mode then they can hear me, the same happens with headphones.
Tried getting rid of stock Sense (not sure what version I had, I know it was JB 4.1.1 and Sense 4+), flashed IceColdJelly 3.5.1
Also left the phone off in rice for about 2 days (it was too late to do it but tried it anyways)
My phone does not have warranty and I'm reluctant to send it into a Repair Center here as I've heard friends and their terrible experiences with them in here.
So I decided to open my phone to see if the MIC was clogged/dirty or something (plus I have the WiFi signal issue) but everything on the inside seems fine. The phone itself seems to have never been open.
The MIC still sounds muffled (no it is not completely dead), tried the stock android Sound Recorder and barely pics up my voice if I speak directly into it.
Could it be a software issue? If not, how can I test and know which MIC I need to buy???
Any help, tips or thoughts will be much appreciated!!!
P.S. I also tried doing a Factory Reset. Nothing changed
problem apparently solved
so last night I managed to restore the phone into it's original state with a nandroid backup. Haven't been able to fully check the issue properly because I did not put the phone back the bezel yet. But now volume in video recording is normal, and have been told that I can be heard on a call

Anyone who has sent their phone out for warranty work: what was the turn around time?

Looking for feedback from people that have had to mail out their Razer phone for warranty work. How long did it take to get it back?
I'm thinking about mailing mine off vs trying to fix it myself.
The issue I'm having is my speakers are crackling, even post "audio update" that reduced volume by around 30%. I can't get above 3\4 volume without having the speakers start crackling. What's strange is the crackle seems to be worse when orienting the phone to the side vs upright.
Both of them are doing it. Not sure if they are just dirty or they are blown, but when I first got my phone I would play most things at full volume often. I thought about pulling the speaker grills off since I read that sometimes the adheasive loosens and things vibrate but I wasn't sure how I was going to re stick them back down. Can't find replacement grills anywhere. Or replacement speakers for that matter. So I was going to send it in.

11 days round trip to Germany from UK ended up with factory replacement
The first time i sent my phone there it took 4 days to come back but the second time it took around 10 days. I asked why and they said "limited supplies" now i had sent 2 phones and both had speaker problems. The first was a heavily cracking bottom speaker after 3 weeks of use. The second one was both speakers weakening but not cracking and the third one has the same problem which is weird given that they advertized the speakers as good. Hopefully they fix this because i wanna buy razer phone 2

Pixel 3 XL Microphone not working?

Not sure if anyone else is running into this issue, but I just got a Pixel 3 XL delivered. After setting everything up, I discovered that the microphone doesn't seem to be working at all?
When calling someone, the person on the other end of the call can't hear me. Doing some tests with Assistant also seem to not be working.
Wondered if anyone else is having similar issues, or if I got a defective device. It's the Black 128GB.
I do have a second one showing up later today so will compare on that once I get it.
I had this issue with my original 2XL and it was a defective device. I'd start the replacement process.

Yeah, the other phone I got (White 128GB) worked fine. I also tried a full factory reset on the one that wasn't working and same thing.
Already contacted Google and set up a replacement. Hopefully this isn't a larger issue for other people.
No problem here. Sorry to hear that you have to send it back.

I have the same exact problem. Pixel 3 XL Clearly White 128GB. Callers can't hear me, unless it's on speakerphone. Google assistant also doesn't work.
Google support said, it would 15 days to get me a new phone - Verizon just returned it and sent me another.
I've had the exact same issues on my pixel 3. I just contacted Google and it went straight to an RMA.
Pixel 3 microphones not working
Hi, I have the exact same issue. The microphones work when recording a video but nothing at all in calls or with the assistant. Sounds like exactly the same problem as the Pixel 2...
I've only had the phone 3 days and Google said it would take 5-10 for a replacement through them, very ordinary. So I will try and take it back to the store I purchased from.
Black Pixel 3 in black.
Very disappointed for my first Pixel!
I had this happen to me also.
When cleaning up the phone for RMA, I sprayed it with compressed air. I sprayed the speakers, and lo and behold, the microphone worked again
I still sent it back.

Yup just happened to my pixel 3 XL as well. Only works on speakerphone, very weary on the reliability of this device! In process on getting a replacement from Google.

wow, so just for the heck of it, i tried this as well......and it fixed it, wtf???
You don't even need canned air. I just got my new Pixel 3 XL, and freaked out when the mic wasn't working. Came here. Canned air? Ain't nobody got time for that. Just slapped the microphone end of the phone against my shirt a few times (on my big fat belly), poof - working mic.
Still, it's not a good feeling buying a brand-new, quite expensive device and finding it has manufacturing defects, even if they are easy to McGyver.
This totally worked!!
Don't know how, but I said to myself, "F it, I'll give it a try". Lo and behold, two smacks on the belly, and the mic is working. Calls, Google Assistant, everything. Thanks a ton for the suggestion.

broo wtf worked for me too

proximity sensor died

So this is fun. Yesterday afternoon I went to answer a call and could hear nothing. Also noticed the screen was still on when held to my ear. Speaker phone works and the top speaker works for stereo videos. It just does not work in calls. International Unlocked 7t with the latest 10.6 software which has been on it for more than a week.
Poked around a bit ran a test on the proximity sensor with the OnePlus care app. Came back with a fail. Got on chat with a rep who immediately had me factory reset...which I knew would do nothing. I was correct. Got back on chat went though the motions of cleaning the screen and doing various tests and finally the rep agreed with me that it must be a hardware failure and recommended I submit an RMA for service.

Update RMA approved phone is off to Texas for repairs. Now we wait
Phone is on the way back...I suspect they are replacing it as the shipping location is WA not TX. In any case the holidays deff slowed down the process. Will let you all know if it's all good once I have it in hand.
So the phone has arrived back ....or rather a new phone has arrived as they sent me a brand new in the box device. So apparently whatever was wrong with the other one couldn't be fixed realistically. New phone is working perfectly.
5 days with the new phone and it is still working perfectly.
11 days in and the new device is working great. No screen color issues or sensor issues noted so far.
