Half-bricked galaxy w. Help needed - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

My Samsung Galaxy W has a lot of problems currently and I want to flash back to stock ROM.
1. I can only boot into download mode
2. I cannot boot into recovery mode
3. I cannot boot up the phone
4. Odin cannot detect my phone while in download mode
5. Windows also states that "USB Device not recognized"
Any solutions? I can only boot into download mode on my phone but my pc wouldn't detect it.
1. Tried reinstalling drivers from multiple sources
2. Tried rebooting my phone
3. Tired rebooting my pc
4. Tried all available USB ports on my pc
5. Tried the other 5 phones I have and it worked perfectly fine

Use Odin and flash a recovery.

If You're running Windows 8 and above, it does not support the Samsung USB protocol, with no workaround as of now.

Phone not recognized by PC after root (but still rooted)

So here's the story:
1) Phone worked flawlessly before root. Did an OTA to stock 4.1.1
2) Flashed CWM with Odin v1.85 --> removed battery --> worked without issues
3) Applied SuperSU v0.87 and this didn't go without issue. While in CWM before the reboot, there was some extra prompt (I have rooted a S3 before and did not receive the prompt) however I cycled too fast and I don't think I hit the right option. The phone rebooted anyway and I had root so I didn't think anything of it.
4) Wanted to add files to my SDcard a couple of days later and the phone didn't show up in My Computer (yes USB debugging is enabled, tried all USB ports, changed cables, uninstalled and reinstalled Samsung drivers, I've never used Kies to do anything with my phone - disabled it from the start)
I thought I should revert to stock and start over so I booted into recovery and CWM wasn't there anymore but I still had SU access. I installed Mobile Odin and placed CWM (the .tar file) on my internal (Placed on SDcard --> moved with My files to internal) and flashed CWM and while I didn't see any errors, now I'm data wiped/factory reset but I still can't boot into CWM, I still have SU, and my phone is still not recognized by my computer.
Anyway for me to fix this issue?

Go here and follow the instructions. My 10 year old was able to do it without an issue.

Reload the samsung drivers on the computer and boot into download mode. After loading the root66 version via odin download Rom manager from the store and load cwm.
Sorry OP but I does anyone know a way to connect to a PC without install the samsung drivers? I'm asking because I don't have permission to install anything to my computer at work. I've tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711009
and this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...9pZC5tdWx0aW1vdW50c2RjYXJkLndpZGdldC5mcmVlIl0.
but still no go. They all treated my SD Card as CD drive which can read only. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply and I apologize if I wasn't clear but I was attempting to use Mobile Odin (my first time) because my phone was not being recognized by my PC and thus desktop Odin wasn't working either (even after reinstalling drivers and booting in download mode which I tried before posting).
However, I did find the answer eventually. If people have problems losing CWM after root, the error I made was not extracting the image file from the .tar before flashing with Mobile Odin. I eventually returned to stock but that didn't solve my PC not recognizing my device until I found this:
1. Uninstall any previous instance of Kies/USB driver
2. Download the latest Kies, specific to your S3.
3. Download Samsung USB drivers 1.4.6.0 (I've tried newer versions but they all failed)
4. REBOOT
5. Disconnect from internet (VERY IMPORTANT!!! - forcing Windows to install local drivers ONLY)
6. With the phone disconnected, install Kies + USB drivers downloaded in steps 2,3
7. Connect the phone and let Windows install the drivers.
8. Reestablish the internet connection.

I didn't bother with Kies and obviously used the latest Samsung USB drivers. Problem solved!
Perfect.
Sorry if I sounded a little short. I am glad you found the solution.

Probably best if you ask in your devices forum if you think it had to do with how you rooted. They'll be more familiar with it and any problems that can occur.

The only thing I can say is to uninstall kies, install standalone USB drivers (try both the latest and the older version released for your device on Samsung's site), reboot pc and phone and try to connect again.
Good luck!

[Q] note2: usb not recognised, can't boot in clockworkmod

Hi guys,
Just got my new note 2 (international-n7100). I first updated to jb 4.1.2.
Then rooted the phone after several tries to detect drivers (install/uninstall etc).
After that installed rom manager and ROM toolkit pro.
I never achieved to boot in cmw through ROM manager or by using the 3 keys combination, I keep getting the default android boot.
Tried everything to reflash cmw with adb or Odin but now my PC says drivers are not recognized because of a "corrupted attempt to connect the device before" (use win 7, changed usb ports, tried different pc).
I uninstalled every drivers, kies and reinstall either directly from Samsung or using toolkit for note 2.
Nothing...
Please help, I need to get my phone conected to the PC so that I can boot in cmw and backup my ROM.
Thanks

[Q] unknown device

After install cwm 6, probably i got the wrong file or corrupt file then my phone cant boot to cwm mode, then i tried to flash with odin, it can boot to download mode but problem is PC through ODIN cant detect my phone, when i plug PC showed unknown device, i did install driver properly and its ok when i test it with other same galaxy W..
Now my phone cant start up, cant enter cwm, it can enter download mode but PC can detect the port..
need help guys thanks..
NOTE : PC can detect my phone when my phone is turn on but it just not work in download mode
If Im right understand, you plug phone to pc and open your device. Did you try opposite combination? I mean, first open your phone with download mode, then plug your device to pc. Maybe it works.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy W Download Mode USB Problem

Hi guys !
I rooted my phone and then tried to setup some roms. But when I try to go in the download mode, it says "Downloading... Do not turn off the target" but on my computer, it cannot recognize the usb. I setup the usb drivers, tried another ports and there is no problem about my usb cable. It works normally, but whenever I go in the download mode, this thing happens and I cant continue to Odin. Does anyone know anything about that ?

When you install custom ROMs, you need to go to recovery mode ( Volulme Up + Power + Home ), not to download mode

You can install it easily if your phone is rooted just
-put the downloaded recovery.img in /mnt/sdcard
-download & install "Terminal Emulator" in play store
-open it then type "su" and click enter
-allow root access..
-then type "dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13" then click enter
-then some text will show in bottom
-exit terminal..
check the recovery by turning off the device then turn on with volume up botton, home button, and power button pressed together..
until "Galaxy W" screen shows up, release the power button only.. then you will enter CWM

What version of windows are you running, it couldn't work on windows 8 and 8.1 so i installed 7 and all the drivers for the phone and it works, i dont have the phone now but i do beleive that will, anyway... if you have bootloop that means you are still able to pass the bootloader screen right?? then try to go to recovery and flash roms from there, having an sd card would help transfering roms from pc directly to phone....
Reply again if you need some assistance.. I'm not online very often

i have windows 10 pro.
yes, first the samsung logo apears then the galaxy W logo.
it stays 1 or 2 minutes on this galaxy W logo screen then it reboots.
is it even possible to flash it with the original bootloader from a sd card?
and would the original bootloader detect this type of image (.tar.md5) ?
Thank you for reply

You can try putting any custom rom and flash from a custom recovery if you can access it, if not download the stock rom and get a windows 7 pc. make sure you install all the samsung drivers ( kies should do the job ) and try flashing it from odin

Download mode Windows 8.1 10
To connect your phone in download mode on Windows 8.1 and 10 you need to apply this registry file (in my attached zip file).
Mirror Link
It happens for most old phones.
More Info: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/us...ows-8-0-but-fail-on-windows-8-1-with-code-43/
Also note Odin3 (the one which is used for newer phones) doesn't work for Galaxy W! (Use Odin Multi Downloader.)
--------
Update: It seems that this registry key isn't needed. Make sure to connect the USB cable after downloading... screen appears. If it wasn't recognized try disconnect and reconnecting the USB cable or try other USB ports on PC till it gets recognized.

still doesn't work for me, can you please post the drivers you are using ?
If you see the USB device is not recognized error it's not a driver issue.
Windows automatically downloads the drivers through Windows Update. BTW here are the drivers:

Note II connection problem with odin

Hello,
i am using Note II GT-N7100 it's not going further samsung logo then restart automatically from the logo.
and i tried hard reset and all other things which i found by forums but nothing work. So i've read about flashing Note II with ODIN then i download ODIN v3.09 and N7100 firmware and trying flashing but my phone is not connecting to ODIN it's not showing anything and even i cannot hear ding sound windows sound when i connect my phone to the USB cable. So what should i do to use my phone again.
my phones odin information showing..
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-N7100
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: OFFICIAL
AND I'VE TRIED THIS WITHOUT SIM & MEMORY CARD
Enable USB debugging from developer otions, close all Kies in task manager of windows.
Look into windows hardware if there is something like your device marked as unfunctional, or even connected other than media storage (maybe as camera or so)
Update or reinstall USB driver for your device.
my phone is not opening so how can i Enable USB debugging from developer otions
@jaiffable You don't need to enable USB debugging for download mode, as the DL mode works regardless of the settings in OS. It is however needed just once, to install the driver. Check if Kies running in the background and if the crap is installed, kill all its processes with PC task manager.
Try rather Odin 1.85 or 3.04 or 3.07 instead and if the uninstalled drivers are problem, use Heimdall in Linux, it needs no drivers.
tetakpatalked from Nexus 7 flo
Try to run Odin as an administrator. Right click on Odin then run as administrator.
