How to update SMT210/R to official KitKat and gain root! - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As you may know, KitKat has been released by samsung to the Sm-T210 / R devices. This update includes a new bootloader. This bootloader is VERY important to have when using a 4.4.X based ROM. It fixes offline charging and fixes a GUI bug in custom recoveries. In this thread I will teach you how to flash this Firmware to your device, and gain root access! I take no responsibility for any damages that may occur during or after the installation. Just follow the steps carefully and you should be fine.
Pre-update instructions 1
take note of your devices model number, this can be found in settings>> About device>> Model Number.
(If you are running a custom ROM your model number may not be correct. If this is the case, look on the right edge of the device, if you see a black square your model number is SM-T210R, if you do not have the square you have the SM-T210.)
NOTE: Make sure you have your tabs USB drivers installed to your computer. Download here http://www.mediafire.com/?jotj0yjj4st761t
Pre-update instructions 2
download Odin version 3.0.9 to your computer. Here is a link to Odin3.0.9 http://www.devfiles.co/download/CAHmXM6c/Odin_v3.09.zip
Pre-update instructions 3
Make a free account at http://www.sammobile.com/forum/register.php THIS STEP IS REQUIRED if you have the SM-T210R! Without an account you cant download the firmware file. Skip this step. No longer required as i changed the link.
Step 1
Download the firmware file for your specific model number.
SM-T210 firmware http://rapidgator.net/file/8c97131ca007ebcc7b57960b3c45b316
SM-T210R firmware http://rootjunkysdl.com/getdownload.../Firmware/T210RUEU0CNI1_T210RXAC0CNI1_XAC.zip
Step 2
now that you have downloaded your devices firmware and Odin, go ahead and launch odin. Now we will put your tab into update mode. You can do this by turning off your tab, then hold Power+VOL down+home when you see the words Samsung galaxy tab 3 release power BUT STILL HOLD VOLUME DOWN AND HOME! You will see a screen that says something like "Warning! Installing a custom OS may blah blah blah" just go ahead and click the volume up button.
Step 3
Now plug your device into your computer via usb cable and set your tab where it will not be disturbed. Now in odin click AP then find the update file you downloaded. This file will end in .tar.md5. Click the file and click open.
Step 4
Now that you have your device connected to your computer and the update file selected in odin, make sure re-partition is not checked and go ahead and click start. Please be patient, as this update may take a little wile to install. Once its done, it should say "PASS!"
Your device is now running android 4.4.2. If you would like to gain Root access,or install custom roms, continue to step 5!
Step 5
If you are reading this that means you want to use custom ROMs, or gain root access.. Now download this file to your computer. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23681161096069127
Step 6
Click AP in Odin and find the file you just downloaded, click open make sure re-partition is NOT checked and click start.
Step 7
After you see Pass! Unplug your tab and boot into recovery with the three button combo. From there you can flash custom roms!
NOTE: if you would like to Root your tab, complete all steps above and continue reading!!
Step 8
Download this file and put it on your SD card, http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip?retrieve_file=1
Step 9
Boot into recovery and click install zip>> click first option>> then find the file you downloaded. Once the file is found, click on it, press install.
Step 10
Wait untill it finishes and reboot your tablet. You now have SuperSu and root access!

Yes u can update but u will have Knox bootloader firmware
Guide ? just flash it, root, get CSC changer and change your CSC to your region
My advice:
If u don`t want to root in future or change firmwares or u want to get official updates
Download : I9190DXUAMF7 Malaysia
Flash it, root it, change csc to XME with Galaxy CSC changer
Flash AGAIN I9190DXUAMF7 to remove any traces of root and wipe data factory reset to get official status
Then update your phone with Kies to I9190DXUAMK2
U will have Knox bootloader active but your status will be 0x0 . If u root/install custom kernel etc u will trigger Knox warranty
If u want in future to update to other custom firmwares and u want to keep your warranty and don`t trigger Knox
Modify the stock rom before u flash it on phone
U MUST MAKE THIS STEP BEFORE U FLASH MK2
Guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549357
thanks ..got that....

Can i change the region with no problems?
Dear SilviuMik,
Thanks for your promising answer to a similar question in the past threads. Please help me out. I am also in the dark as a new user. I really appreciate it.
I've got S4 mini (I9192) and the battery drain is too fast, even in standby at night when i dont use it at all it loses up to 17 percent till morning.
1. I would like to know if it is possible to change my region to one with a newer update (while actually i don't live there)? i hear the new updates have somewhat controlled the battery issues.
2. My region is Iran and would like to change it to Saudi Arabia or ... here are my phones details:
Ap: I9192xxUAMI1
CP: I9192xxUAMI1
CSC: I9192OJVAMI1
Kernal version: 3.4.0-947972
Build number: JDQ39.I9192xxUAMI1
I would like to change either to
Saudi Arabia:
Build date: Tue, 04 Feb 2014 14:05:00 +0000
Product Code: ACR
PDA: I9192XXUBNB1
CSC: I9192OJVBNB1
MODEM: I9192XXUBNB1
or
Country: Uzbekistan
Version: Android 4.2.2
Changelist: 1961802
Build date: Wed, 05 Mar 2014 09:39:22 +0000
Product Code: CAC
PDA: I9192XXUBNC1
CSC: I9192OXEBML1
MODEM: I9192XXUBNC1
is it possible? please help.
3. one last thing: if i change my region, will i still be able to connect to Samsung account? will there be any problems?
Sorry to ask so many questions. I will post this in thread i first found, too. In case there are some other people like me who can benefit from your expertise. Really Thank you.

Hello mate,
I9192XXUAMI1 does NOT contain Knox ( u are a lucky guy )
Newer firmware ALL contain Knox
Also, newer firmware does not fix battery drain , a custom Kernel / rom with custom kernel does fix it
Since u do not have knox bootloader active my advice is to try to flash my custom rom U will see that battery drain will be over
Can i change the region with no problems?
I'm one lucky guy. Thanks.
please post a link to your best Rom (probably best of all that there is). and let me know if i need to install sth like 4xt recovery.
by the way, i did not understand if it there will be any harm to my device if i flash the above Roms (i mean a different region)? and will they work more smoothly?
Thanks a millions
keep up the good work my friend :good:

If u install the other roms that u posted u will install roms with Knox bootloader active ( U will get 2 new lines in download mode with word knox in them ) that will prevent u from flashing kernels/root/flashing older roms without voiding warranty
In my signature is the rom i made, try version 2.1
U don`t need to install any recovery just flash this rom like any other with Odin

It is not required to install all the updates before you root but if you would like to have the latest version then update first. If you plan to install a custom ROM later then no need for updating to the latest version.

Better idea, identify the apps that you don't want and ...
In application Manager, uninstall the updates and then disable them.

Thanky you for replying bulbous, but unfortunatelly your solutions is not of much help. In fact I was going to do what you told me through rom toolbox lite, but I still need root access. My intention though is to root my device and delate those crappy sMzung apps that i don't need and that only occupy space on my device, which is just 16 gb.
Do you or anybody have a very straightforward answer to what I asked at the beginning?
Thank you

Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA Free mobile app
Tablet restarts when trying to install apps
I followed the instructions given, but now when ever I attempt to install an app my tablet will restart itself, which prevents installation.
I'm new to rooting so I'm not sure what to do. Any sort of help will be appreciated.
I should mention I tried to use the autorootp600mj4.tar.md5 to root but when I restarted my device the supersu was there but it said I wasn't rooted, so I used CF-Auto-Root-lt03wifi-lt03wifixx-smp600.tar.md5 instead and it fixed the problem with supersu, but now I can't install anything please help.

It is telling me that they can't find an SU Binary.
I would have to manually put one in.
Have you guys had this problem occur before?
If so, what course of action should I take.
I know this thread is a little dated, but if you get back to me that'll be very much appreciated!
Samsung Note 10.1 2014 4.4.2 UD0C1 rooting
Did anybody root a Samsung Note 10.1 P600 2014 (i.e. WIFI) with Android 4.4.2 and FW build UD0C1 ?
With which procedure/technique?
I just got the machine and I need to solve the SD-Card access problems.
Thanks

Could you please check if you have really the same Firmware I have?:
Android version: 4.4.2
Kernel version:
3.4.39-4357843

Build number:

SE for Android status:

I cannot get it working.
I am following the instructions in this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-2014/development/root-cf-auto-root-t2905495
and I am using this the file linked there:
CF-Auto-Root-lt03wifi-lt03wifixx-smp600.zip
The process seems to go fine and I do not see errors, but I have no root privileges and SuperSu is not installed.
If I try to install SuperSU from Google Play, I get an error message saying Google Play has encountered a problem.
Requests for root privileges (for example from Root Checker or SDFix) wait quite some time for a reply and then timeout.
Before that I had tried with the file p600Autoroot.7z linked from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2490805
The installation behaviour looked the same, in that case both RootChecker and SDFix were bailing out immediately with a failure in the request for root privileges.
Which file have you been flashing with Odin?
I have the feeling some step (but not all) of the rooting process are incomplete, probably due to some change in the Kernel.
Any suggestion?
Thanks for the help.

Managed to root P600 with FW P600XXUDOC1
I finally managed:
After having installed with odin
autorootp600mj4.tar.md5
I had to manually install SuperSU-v2.48 from TWRP.
Previous versions of SuperSU did not install, even if there were no errors (also TWRP did not show any error).
Among the many instructions I tried out, the one that worked and gave me the links to the right files is this one (sorry, in German):

S4 T-Mobile Root Help!

Hey there folks! I'm looking to root my S4 but I'm having trouble locating the files I need to download so I can be rooted & if I can still root my S4.
My S4 Info
Model #: SGH-M919
Android Version: 4.4.4
Baseband Version: M919UVUFNK2
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-2437203 [email protected] #1 Mon Nov 17 19:20 KST 2014
Build Number: KTU84P.M919UVUFNK2
SE for Android Status: Enforcing SEPF_SGH-M919_4.4.4_0032 Wed Oct 15 17:16:50
Secure Boot Status: Samsung
Security Software Version:
MDF v1.0 Release 3
VPN v1.4 Release 2
So with all of this info, can someone please direct me (preferably via a link to the proper thread) to ALL the files I need in order to root. I've been browsing through some of the How-To threads already but nothing is really set-in-stone if the FNK2 4.4.4 Firmware is rootable? I've also been out of the Root Game for a long while (over a year) since I last rooted anything and I totally forgot how to root. So can someone remind me how to root? For my build# S4, do I use the drag-and-drop file loading OR Odin 3.6 program on a computer to do it?? Also, keep-in-mind.... I want to keep root as close as possible to stock 4.4.4.
Thank you for any detailed info.
I second this, I have the same build and all that but the only thing I can really find on it is to downgrade to 4.4.2 and do towel root. Not sure if this is the only way or not currently.
Google Chainfire's S4 root.

Pp.
So this is the closest thing I found on the www.autoroot.chainfire.eu site:
samsung SGH-M919 jfltetmo jfltetmo MSM8960 msm8960 KTU84P.M919UVUFNH7 4.4.4 24 067 069 Download b354bc04aa16351305edfd33e85a58bf 212 032
Ummm.... I'm gonna say what I found above ^ is not the same as the Build# FNK2 that I have? Sooooo what happens now, because that still does not rectify the issue at-hand? Now correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't I brick my S4 if it tries to flash the FNH7 over my FNK2? Yeah, I don't want to do that because it would be a compatibility issue right? So like it was mentioned before, can rooting be accomplished for the FNK2 Build?
- Is it just not possible,
- is it not possible at this time because it has yet to be worked on,
OR
- do I just "test" this overwrite method of flashing FNH7 over my FNK2 and most likely end up screwing myself over with a bricked S4 because I'm going off someone's "it will/should work" (untested) hypothesis??
Note: Details about what someone did to get an FNK2 Build S4 rooted would be really nice.
Thank you.
It still works lol. Do it the same way as you would with nh7. You're not flashing firmware, just rooting. Use chainfires autoroot in odin then odin twrp or whichever recovery you prefer and you're in business. I'm running nk2 rooted right now.

Relax Spicy, Mr big is correct your not flashing firmware, it's just a temporary recovery that allows a root exploit to take place.
You then flash the corresponding recovery for your phone and now you enter the *bricking* zone, if you don't read that is.
I recommend CWM over twrp.

[GT-I9192] - S4 Mini Duo - Can We Root With Any Build?

[GT-I9192] - S4 Mini Duo - Can we root with any build ?
Hi all,
I'm trying to find a way to root my Galaxy S4 mini DUO. (in order to install an other room after that).
It seems that we need a specific build to root it ... And I can't find any root tutorial with my build ...
(my version 4.4.2 : KOT49H.I9192UBUCOC2)
In this case, can we re-install other "official" build in order to apply tutorials ? like downgrade the phone or whatever ?
I found a tutorial that explain at the end that we need to re-install an other build if our build doesn't match ... (without explain of course how to do it)
My question :
- Can we reinstall an other build on the i9192 easily (with kies or something other..)
- If yes where can we find a precise build for the i9192 needed for those tutorials ?
Something more : in download mode there is written : knox warranty void 0x1 (I don't know if I can downgrade with that warranty void)
Thank you if have solutions !
