[Q] How long will it take for LG Service Repairs to fix my phone ? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my phone was hard bricked and was literally dead and I talked to a LG Representative and sent my phone on Thursday to Texas. They then received my phone on Monday and the status of the repair is "Unit Being Repaired" for THREE DAYS STRAIGHT and want my phone repaired as soon as possible( praying for no refurbished phones) . I was wondering how long does it take for LG to fix the phone and will there be a high chance of getting it repaired rather than getting a refurbished phone. As I stated on top, I sent my phone to LG Repair Services in Texas and to my knowledge, the only thing they have to replace is my motherboard( correct me if I'm wrong)

Same here, just sent mine a few days ago, actually they received it yesterday at forth wort. Mine was almost brand new, i went to bed, it was off charge, when i woke up, battery was 98%, made one phone call, and after that the phone died, never to wake up. Didn't root it or anything like that, just weird.
Hopefully they get me a refurbished one or fix it, i don't care.
Mine have same status now, how long did yours take? you should have it back by now

U need to ask Lg representative to get the right answer...

7 business days total for me, which would be 9 if you include the weekend.

[Q] LG LTE p930

Not sure if this is the right forum but, I got an LG LTE P930 from Bell Canada just over a month ago. The call quality is horrible, when turning the volume up past halfway (not speaker), it sounds like the speaker is blown, or something is rattling.
Its got the stock OS I haven't done anything to it, never dropped or anything. The place I got it from said they would have to send it away, could take 8 weeks.
I was wondering if anyone has this problem too, if it's an issue with this type of phone I might as well keep it, if it's my phone in particular I'll have to send it away.
No, that's not normal. I'd suggest that you contact LG directly instead of going through the retailer where you bought the device. I can't imagine it would take such a long time to get it fixed or replaced.
yea, when i sent it out through bell they said 5-7 days (it took 7 days), it shouldn't take weeks...if you would have brought it in within the 30 days you could have gotten a replacement phone, because it would have been classified "DOA"

What are your experiences with HTC repair?

I have an issue with my One X, the G-sensor totally will not respond, I have tried everything short of flashing a new ROM (but I'm still stock due to no S-off)
Now, I've decided to stop putting off sending my phone into repair after having this issue for over 3 weeks.
What I want to know is;
What was your experience with HTC repair?
How long did they take to fix and return your device?
I go on holiday in 22 days, and I very much need the camera on this phone however it's stuck in the wrong rotation, I'm assuming it won't take HTC 22 days to repair the phone?
I have had a good and a terrible repair experience with them. But if you send it in now hopefully the turnaround will be 2 weeks.
So far so good. I called them on Monday, they sent the courier to pick up my device yesterday and on the website it states that my device is being repaired as of 9:58am today. Hopefully the rest goes smoothly, I have heard some real horror stories.
long story short. send my phone in for repairs in the first week of may and was suppose to get my phone back within two weeks.. ended up getting back a month later..so two weeks more on top of the estimated time they told me...but the good news was that ever since i did not have any issues and the phone is a beast.. so even though there was a delay i am happy with the outcome and work they did on the phone

What country are you in?
Many people in the UK have said they've recieved their device back within two weeks.
Anyway, HTC quoted me a 7 working days turn around time and i'm sending it off tomorrow morning, heres to hoping.

I'm in UK, they sent it to regenersis in huntingdon, firstly for a misaligned front speaker hole (which i sent them a pic of) and dead pixel.
It said repaired etc on the website a few days after they received. Spoke to the htc live chat, and asked what had been done to it. 'The software was reflashed'
It was returned to me a few days later, no different to when i sent it off.
I resent the phone eventually (to same place, regenersis) as it developed the wifi antenna problem as well. The repair tracking website was never updated, and live chat didn't have a clue what was happening with the phone. 2 weeks later the phone turned up at work. Unrepaired again. Zero difference.
I'm currently in the process of arranging a replacement from HTC instead.

Just for all you UK people, if the device has ANY problems in the 1st six months take it back to the retailer and demand a replacement. You might have to push them but ultimately you will be successful . In the first 6 months the fault is considered to have been there since manufacture, after six months it's a bit different.
The Sales of Goods act covers this for you.

HTc repair center here in the us is suck big time, i'm still waiting on my htc one that i sent for repair since July 5th, finally i got an email from them that they ship it back to me, now its gonna take another 6 days before i receive it, they could at least overnight since they took that long to repair it.. never again
HTC EVO View 4G Repaired
My View stop working just like that: I got some strange pop-ups about apps force closing then I decided
to reboot and that got stuck. Pressing power for a long time didn't help. The charging led no longer
lighted up. Pressing all kinds of button combinations didn't help me. The tablet was dead!
This is a refurbished tablet that I bought off Tech4Less. I had it S-OFFed and rooted.
I called HTC customer support to inquire about the repair policy. I could get a box shipped and send
in the tablet for repair (here in the US). I was told that they would quote me the cost per email and
if declined I would have to pay a $35 fee. Well that to me was worth the try. Pay $35 to learn whether
you have a brick or not. I got the box, shipped the tablet to their repair centre and waited. By the
way the Fedex shipping label came for free. So far no costs and no word from HTC, although customer
service promised to send me email about the repair policy. Also the repair centre never acknowledged
receipt of the tablet. This was a few days before 4th of July. Two weeks later I shopped for a new tablet
and got a great deal on a new 2012 Nexus 7 from Staples.
I had given up on my View. No notice of what was going on with the repair; no repair tracking number.
A few days later I was happily unpacking my new Nexus and showing it off to my wife. She remarked
that the HTC repair probably was a hoax and that my old tablet was lost. I checked my email at that
moment and lo and behold threre was an email from HTC stating that the tablet was repaired and on its
way back to me. It mentioned the serial number and a repair number and I was able to use those to
look up the actual Fedex tracking number on their web site. I couldn't believe it... Every day I checked the
progress and eventually I got the box on my doorstep. Indeed, my good old trusty View was working
again. HTC provided a repair sheet and noted that among other minor replacements, the motheroard was
replaced. Wow! And no bill. Yes, really. Maybe a mistake on their part, but lucky for me.
I am very grateful to HTC and can only hope that others are treated similarly.
im not happy at all, since i bought my htc one in june 2013, its been repaired twice , i was suurprised it was collected and returned within 7 days from my door. This 3rd time its been over 10 days, it was howing as "reapired" in the tracking info, but today its showing back "in repair"...whats going on htc?..apparently hey dont have a repair centre here in the uk its in poland

sent phone back to lg for repair

Quick question. My G3 developed a screen fault on the 6th so i rang three for repair. LG sent out all the envelopes, padded and special delivery so i sent the phone back on the 9th which they signed for on the 11th. Apparrently that isnt the day they count their 3-5 days from, as that starts at the point it gets to the technicians. I spoke to a guy on monday whio simply said its with the technicians and to wait...its a pain in the backside as i am phoneless, am paying for a contract that i cant use and see no timescales. the guy on the phone on monday wasnt much help (though not his fault i suppose) but as im going away next week i kinda want the phone back before i go. has anyone sent their phones back to LG and got it back quick or is it looking unlikely that it will be back by next week? Its a pain as they havent told me a thing, havent said if they are going to mail me, ring me etc. not good though that its lasted less than a month before needing repair, after my very light usage of it. should i keep ringing them to chase them along?
Also had a bad screen. After two months the middle of the screen just stopped worked, in a horizontal line.
Called my reseller and said that it could take one month maximum to get it fixed (she couldnt say anything more in detail). Thats insane, imo. Especially since its here in Sweden and bought from a well known reseller with quick and good support. But yeah, i sent it to LGs service center.

Keep or Replace Refurb LG G4? Original G4 bootlooped last week

Verizon LG G4 purchased right after release in 2015. Bootlooped last Monday 10/10, replacement arrived Saturday through Verizon's service center in Texas. Serial number on replacement starts with 506, which I believe means assembled June 2015. I presume it was refurbished due to motherboard failure associated with bootloop.
I don't have a landline and the lack of a smartphone last week was damaging to my business and personal life. I need to know if the replacement G4 models are reliable or not.
If I get rid of the G4 preferences are either HTC 10 or Google Pixel. Would wait for reviews if the Pixel. Verizon currently offers $300 credit if I trade the G4 in for either of these.

Can't say. There are people who've had problems with refurbs just months after. A better option is if they replace the motherboard with new instead of refurb. serial would start with 6 in that case.
Do you have the option to ask for that instead? ie send it back in again and have them put a new board in. More reliable than a refurb.
Anyone on a refurb want to post if their phone has been good for several months ?

I'd have a backup phone at all times, just good practice. problems can happen any time, you could lose it or have it stolen.

I do not think Verizon would be willing to replace the unit again unless it fails. Since I purchased the unit at its release in June 2015, technically the warranty had expired when the bootloop happened last week. For US customers I believe the policy is for Verizon to replace devices due to the defect even beyond warranty period. Also, I asked and was told the warranty on the replacement device is 12 months. My latest idea is to play lots of demanding games like Riptide GP and Real Racing 3 to stress test it. Perhaps this will reveal if the hardware is faulty. If the replacement device bootloops I plan to ask Verizon for a different device.
Keeping a spare Android phone around is something I had not considered before. Too bad, wife switched to iPhone recently and we sold her old HTC one M8. I should have kept that one.
I'm in the same situation. Although mine hasn't bootlooped yet. It has randomly rebooted at least twice in the past three days since doing a software update where the phone got very hot. I just want it fixed or replaced before it starts bootlooping.
I'm considering calling Verizon and asking them if they can replace the phone with something else with no charge to me. I'm pretty sure that they can give me a refurbished G4. But there's no guarantee that it won't experience the same problem.
If I go through Lg, it could take up to a week and half and I really can't go that long without a phone. LG told me to go to my carrier and ask for a loaner phone while I send this one in to have the main board replaced.
I'm pretty confident that LG will fix it, but Verizon I'm not so sure about.
I also bought this phone on Swappa brand new. I also don't have any insurance on it. These two reason alone don't give me much hope that Verizon is going to help me. And also because I'm paying payments to them and it's not the original phone that I started the payments on.

So an update.
I called Verizon and they ran diagnostics on my phone over the phone. They said my battery temp seemed slightly high. They gave me instructions on how to diagnose it further.
First they said to reboot into safe mode. Basically you hold down the power button, then long press power off. Then you get a pop up to boot into safe mode. This is so you can rule out any third party apps causing the issues. This limits you to use only the apps that came installed on it. I thought to myself, how in the world am I going to be able to use this phone enough to replicate it rebooting. Sure enough when I went to charge the phone, I opened up chrome to browse around all while listening to music and it rebooted by itself. So that rules out any apps causing it. So the next step is to take it into a Verizon location, not a retail store, and they can give me a warranty replacement. The reason they told me to try it in safe mode was if they replaced it and there wasn't anything wrong with the hardware, they would charge me. This way they can replace it for free.
The guy that I talked to was super helpful and understanding. It was the best service I've ever received from them. I was even behind in my payments, and he didn't even pressure me into making a payment.
I also asked if it would be possible to get my phone replaced with something different. He said if they replace my G4 twice, then they would more than likely be able to get me into a different phone. I told him I totally understood and that I wasn't just trying to get a new phone. I shared with him my apprehension in getting another G4 because it's likely to happen again.
So, once I'm able to make a payment to get my bill current, I'll be heading into a Verizon location and hopefully be walking out with a replacement G4.
And I was worried that they wouldn't even work with me because I didn't buy my phone from them or another big retailer.
Just thought I'd share my experience in case anyone is interested in knowing what the options are.

I can't speak for the replacement G4s but I will say that I sent mine (Verizon version) in to LG about 6 or 7 months ago and they did the motherboard swap (or however they fix the boot loop) and I've had no issues with it since. Getting it fixed was free as well since LG had fully acknowledged there was a hardware problem.
Mine bootlooped two days ago and I went to a Verizon store and they ordered a warranty replacement that I received the very next day. It's working great so far. The phone looks brand new. They just sent me the phone. No battery, back cover or charger. But it seems like performance is quicker and battery life seems to be better and more consistent.

Nexus 5x to LG (Fort Worth) Repair Turnaround Time

If you've shipped your LG Nexus 5x to LG (Fort Worth, TX) for repair, what was your turnaround time?
Was the repair covered under warranty? Or were you charged?
Did you get your original phone back or a replacement unit?
How was the quality of your repair / replacement?
Thank you,
Ed
I gotchu, fam
I got the bootloop issue that many people here have faced. LG said it was the eMMC and they replaced the flash memory. Got the original phone back (confirmed by the IMEI)
I sent in on either 9/30 or 10/3... I can't remember which one I'm sorry.
Date LG received 10/06/2016
LG shipped 10/13/2016, received my phone 10/19/2016
So overall, took about 2 1/2 weeks... They updated the website very slowly from diagnosing the issue, doing the repair, and sending out. Some people have said they didn't do updates about what was going on with their phone at all. While it took a long time, I did not have to pay anything and it was covered under warranty. Oh also they relocked the bootloader lol
I sent my LG G4 there. They received it 9/14. I got it back on 10/4. So it took almost 3 weeks. They said it would be in my hands 9 days after they received it. Lol.
Based on my experience with the G4 and what I've seen here in the 5X forum, I'll never buy another LG.
Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
They should have at-least used UPS air etc and not Fedex Ground
Thank you for your responses. My phone's been there since the 20th and from your responses, it looks like I should expect it back for at least another week.
