(YOUR DEVICE MUST BE ROOTED!)

Steps to fix this issue in Nokia X are:
1) download Rom Toolbox Lite (http://www.appsapk.com/rom-toolbox-lite/) and install
2) Open the app then tap "ROOT BROWSER"
2) Go to "system" directory and tap "build.prop"
3) Tap "RB Text Editor"
4) Find the line "ro.product.manufacturer=Nokia” and change Nokia to Baidu
5) Save the file then reboot your phone
6) ???
7 PROFIT!

Remember to backup your /system/build.prop so can undo change if future OTA update fails. At least X2's OTA mechanism is balking at build.prop customizations.

Not if you did what you said correctly. I used ES File Explorer to do this and got my phone soft bricked. Had to flash stock ROM. Though, no regrets, I couldn't update my phone due to root so I flashed the updated ROM

There is a better way now. Whatsapp Plus works on the Nokia X/XL without any modifications. If I am not mistaken its version 6.0

but whatsapp plus isnt working on my device. verification doesnt work they ask to install original whatsapp first than talk with some friends then uninstall it and download whatsapp+ again but i cant verify on whatsapp too because they said "device not supported".
clicking from widget doesnt work anymore.

Then edit build.prop using Root Explorer. Change ro.build.manufacture from Nokia to Baidu.

because WA+ require some files from WA official... so you need to install WA official first.

And one more thing i've notice there is a apps called apps2sd its not working anymore before there's option to transfer apps to sd now when o try to move it only show move to phone and internal memory, is there any news regarding this problem? Tnx

Nokias partition layout is diff than other Android phones. So thats the problem.
it works, but then mixradio app says no support for non-Nokia phone...anyone can help on this?

How to root 10.or D ?
Step 1: Free download KingoRoot.apk.
Step 2: Install KingoRoot.apk on your device. Make sure you allow "Install apps from untrusted sources".
Step 3: Launch "Kingo ROOT" app and tap "One Click Root".
Step 4: Waiting for a few seconds till the result screen appear. You will a screen with Failed or Succeeded message.
Make sure, you have 50%+ battery and WiFi connection (or Data Pack).

Failed with error code 0x1f9f2b
I use my 10or D as a hotspot, but its wifi is switching on automatically which turns off hotspot. I have closed all the settings related to wifi- like scanning wifi, locations etc. But the problem still exist. Please help me.
And if possible, plz provide stock rom for the same.

i think first we need to unlock bootloader then only the rooting processing will work.
Also, 10or has released kernel sources for Model D. we can get them from their site.

Even I had the same problem with my 10.or D.. I was having the exact same issues.. BVut now I don't know how.. It automatically got fixed.. Now the hotspot doesn't turn off automatically.. I think 10.or had released the April update with the fixes.. Try updating your device then check it.

Hi there, so I purchased the p20 last night and will be receiving this phone (Location: Canada). I tried clicking on the link but it says 404 error. I have never done rooting before and am a little hesitant, since it will void the warranty. Also, I heard that Android 9 is supposed to block call recording - has anyone experienced this issue using the genuine call recorder? Thank you very much

Followed the instructions using the zip-file in this thread I'm currently writing.
After reboot, opening the phone app and clicking on settings, the phone app closes itself and mobile network is shut down. No more calls or any mobile network acitivity possible. In the system settings SIM1 is not available and so cannot be reactivated. Tried several times reassigning the permissions properly.
Only deleting the HwCallRecorder and reboot solves the issues and everything is working as before.
So, right now not working for me.

IT IS WORKING FINE on a EML-L29C432B164patch01.
I'll check for the most updated version and will make a magisk module.

Thanks Badmania. So I guess there isn't a good workaround to get call recording set up for android 9?
Here is the link to the official version of the Call Recorder for Android 10/EMUI 10.1 for Mate 20X and possibly other Mate or P series phones. I have installed it on my Mate 20 X 5G EVR-N29 and is running with no issues. You do not need to modify any files or root your phone. Just download and install.
Also, when downloading the file, if the file extension is .bin, just rename the file extension to .apk and install.
Thank you to Huawei and the users of the relevant sources below for sharing this really useful utility. Now we can all enjoy using the Mate 20x 5G even more. Lets hope someone can fix the battery drain on the 5G Model too. This is probably the single most important issue facing the 5G model.

Have you been able to fix it?

An interesting phenomenon to report. Last night I stopped playing with the settings. Looked at the dialler screen during my first call this morning and found that call recording was in progress, without any further change... Also, the recorder plays it nicely, so I don't have to go and find the recording.

I've read that it installs on 10.1 with no problem. But on 11 its a whole different matter. Some apps will install smoothly on 10 but not on 11 especially when theyre not made for 11

Hello everyone, I can't find gpu settings in game turbo. I already put the turbo in horizontal mode. I saw some video where you have to edit some table (gputuner_switch) to true, but it's already done. I updated manually the security app with some APK from APK mirror but still can found it. It's only for some game, or do I miss something?

Most likely you won't be able to find it ever...
Xiaomi or Qualcomm locked all recent 870 CPUs...
You are not able to clock them past 683mhz... ( 670 is stock )
So yeah ... Unless Xiaomi has a way to override chip lock somehow and even then that would only be 1 to 2 years from now the soonest if ever...

They are there ... If ur talking about display tunables .
As for other stuff there's a way to enable more options:
Download setedit and change in global table the parameter called GPU tunner from false to true.
After that go to security app and clear data + uninstall updates ( I'm not sure if uninstalling updates is necessary so please try without uninstalling updates and let me know if it works ? )
After that open game boost , go to settings enable horizontal mode, return to add games menu and wait there for 30 seconds at least.
Close the app after that , remove it from recents as well .
And you're good to go , when you open the app again you'll see that everything has changed and more options are available including graphic tunables.

Ur not doing something correct then... Check if in setedit the GPU switch is set to true.
I tried it on the eea as well and it works
Use Konabess. You can modify your GPU frequencies and voltages patched & flashed directly to you device in a clean way. Just make sure you know what you're doing.

Never saw anyone speaking about adb commands on this post. About the video the OP author mentioned AFAIK they recommend using SetEdit apk but that requires special permissions that not every user know so I decided to help with the direct ADB command, but I'm glad that you, Mr. KnowItAll, helped the OP author with you amazing knowledge.

- giving the global property via ADB "GPUTUNER_SWITCH" a true also not working
- everything else from different videos also not working

Nop I gave up rn, I did too all solutions proposed, gputuner, WiFi static, clean cache, etc, nothing worked. So right now I wait, it's sad because I would really love to tweaks gpu rendering etc :/
