[Q] Samsung Galaxy tab S "Not for sale" version with "retail mode" app, problem! - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

[Q] Samsung Galaxy tab S "Not for sale" version with "retail mode" app, problem!
this may seem strange, but I have a Samsung galaxy tab S, demo version, with a "NOT FOR SALE" text hacked on the back, it has a "retail mode" app on it (even after factory reset) so I can't remove it, is it possible to install a (stock) ROM on this tablet?

I would imagine installing a stock firmware with odin should do the trick

same here, i flashed with stock firmware and it works no more ldu

Thanks for your response,
the devise's model is " SAMSUNG SM-T800X " and i can't find a thread on xda for a ROM for this version!

flash with t800 rom dude .

is this (ThunderRom800 ) ok? I want a easy to install ROM.

yes but u need a custom recovery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...recovery-twrp-2-7-1-0-touch-recovery-t2817100 then u can flash custom rom

everything ok for now, sorry!

I rooted the device (with Odin), then installed the latest TWRP successfully, then went to boot menu and noticed TWRP's touch interface in scrambled (where i tap the screen isn't where it get clicked on screen, it was kindda on random places) and it filled half the screen, so for a long time I tried to tap randomly on screen and finally I could wipe the first 4 check-boxes, then i guess the battery charge went out, so after successfully wiping the device it got shut down.
now I can't go to TWRP boot menu, but I can go to other boot menu (home button + vol up + power ) , and i can't turn the damn thing off! so what should i do?

Should but make sure your battery is at at least 80% before starting......battery dying while flashing is not good and can lead to bricked device.

Thanks for the recommendation but I've previously tried the method, but my phone always failed to download (even when it wasnt rooted) would u have any other way of solving it without having to use odin. . . my phone is currently stuck in recovery mode so any help trying to get out of it would be helpful. .thank you for your time helping me solve my issue
Put the correct ROM on your external sd card with a PC adaptor. Install the card, boot into recovery, wipe system and data, then install the correct ROM. Boot, let rhe phone settle in for a few minutes, connect to wifi, or check if the correct ROM has the at&t APN settings.

Ranger is correct, try doing what he suggested.
But not really understanding what you have tried from your post.....
Which method, and what does fail to download?
Do you mean fail to get into download mode, and you only can get into recovery?
Are you doing this to get to download mode?
Put your Note 2 in Download Mode
-First you will need to turn off your device.
-Once it’s off, you need to press this button combination: volume down, power button and home button.
-Keep them pressed until the download mode shows up.
-Once you’re there, you will be required to press volume up to enter the download mode or volume down to cancel and reboot the device.
Obviously you want to press the volume up. Now you are ready to ODIN flash.

i would have tried ODIN for this situation but everytime i do. It says "FAILED" how would you suggest i fix this so that my phone can use ODIN. I was going from cyanogenMod to a custom ROM, but i assume i didnt flash the old ROM and now i kinda stuck in a bootloop like it'll show the samsung intro then show the customROM emblem stays there. I've left it in that state for a whole night and it didnt change (still showing the custom ROM emblem) the only thing i can do is enter TWRP v2.6.3.1 and access my external SD.

Sorry bout that. . just tried to connect my phone to ODIN in ODIN MODE. I'll update with what happened.
Just got done trying to flash with ODIN, and it got the part where it starts to install but 4 mins. in my device was removed. I was using the PDA from sammobile.com, and now my phone is saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." i know it might be as simple as actually doing what it says but Kies will not recognize my At&t samsung galaxy note II. What would u suggest to let my laptop recognize my device??

If you could suggest away to get my stock program and upgrade to jellybean 4.3. I had fun with the rooted life but i make the worst mistakes.
PS. i found it to be alot easier using the other tar. in the firmware u suggested me to use. At least for At&t Samsung Galaxy Note II

So i just flashed my at&t Samsung galaxy note II with jellybean 4.1.1 using Odin ( ATT_I317UCAMA4_I317ATTAMA4) and it was going on with everything working. Then i tried to update to jellybean 4.3 after it got done installing it rebooted, and what do u know, i'm stuck in boot loop the Samsung galaxy note 2 logo, and cant access recovery mode. Also I tried the original firmware that used repeatedly, would that hurt the system. Would there be any firmwares suggested to use.

Not a problem. Just giving back from all the help I've received over the years,

P605 stuck at recovery booting...need help

So I just tried to flash 4.4 on my P605 (file being P605XXUCNE2_P605OXACNE2_NEE.zip).
Sadly, I forgot to tick 'phone bootloader update' in Odin, soooo....now I'm stuck on the Samsung logo with 'Recovery booting' written in blue on the top left edge.
I've searched the Net for a solution, but all the ones I've found require me to remove my battery, which is kinda impossible on the P605 without hardware modifications.
I really need some help here, as I'm sure there is another way to get to Download Mode.

Flash stock JB rom,let it reboot then Flash Kitkat rom after... Flash TWRP 2.7.0.1 and let reboot, go into recovery, now should be TWRP, flash latest supersu.zip file(1.99r3). Now Kitkat, rooted and custom recovery.
If you don't want root and TWRP, skip those steps...
Just be aware you will have difficulty accessing external sd card with any but stock file manager and not all 3rd party apps will be allowed to use it (unless rooted)...

I had the same problem, just hold down power and down vol and get to into download mode so you can tick that bootloader update and it will work.
Took me a few goes to get it to go there... but it did work for me.. Hope that helps
I also found the flash jig for the S2 works to get to download mode...
Don't know what I mean, here's a youtube video demonstrating, just forget the bit with the battery, you just need to insert and power down - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8yqWf6JU3o
Worth around $3 on ebay... Look for S2 usb jig...

You must do it at the right moment between screen cycles. Took me 1 minute, but for some people here on forum it took 30.

What does a screen cycle mean exactly? Sorry if the question is dumb.
Edit: Just got into d/l mode.
I did that by holding Vol- and power. It restarted a couple of times but in the end it got there. Thanks for all the help.
Try Power + Volume Down + Home instead of just Power + Volume Down, there is a different if you are stuck.

Wifi + Bluetooth Problem

Hi everyone i have a problem with a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 Sm-T800. I've been using since past novemeber so i hace almost a year with this great device.
But today i have a problem two days ago i was using normally my tab when i finish using i shutdown the device so today i turn it on but the Wifi and bluetooth buttons are unable to turn it on they stuck in gray color so i don't know what happen i already do the factory reset like 3 times and no response at all?
I friend told me to reinstall the firmware with odin i don't know what to do and if that is correct!
please someone can tell what to do with.
Note: It's running on 5.0.2 and my device is already rooted
Have you deleted any system files that might control wifi and bluetooth, an normal reset will not normally replace these files.
Have a look at the link below, it mention hard reset, to replace damaged system files, though the English is poor, I dont know if this is correct or if you will need to do flash an stock rom to fix your tablet as i have not faced this problem myself, hopefully and more informed owner with help you.

Hi there,
I have exactly the same problem with the 8.4 version (SM-T705).
I didn't root it or changed the official rom and have it since a little more than a year. I suspect a hardware break.

Revert Tab S 8.4 to stock kitkat

I just got a Tab S 8.4 used on ebay.
I like the tab but lots of apps I use are not lollipop compatible even when side loaded.
I want to revert this Tab S 8.4 from lollipop to the stock samsung kitkat. (32gb Titanium, USA,. wifi only version)
I just found this link with instructions:
http://samsung-firmware.org/download/Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (WiFi)/5432/XAR/T700XXU1ANL2/T700XAR1ANL2/
Can I just download that and follow the instructions to get back to kitkat without any issue or tripping knox?
thanks.
Use this link: https://mega.nz/#!AYsCFaiY!aOJs57p3EV0HYzDYUxkE0QTgfW2ztCTzUYhtBKhhTZM
That is my own personal upload to Mega. It will probably be a faster download and I know it's safe.
Steps:
1. Place tablet in download mode (Turn tablet off, press and hold POWER, HOME, and VOLUME DOWN until you come to a warning screen. Click VOLUME UP to continue to download mode.)
2. Download zip file
3. Extract the file
4. Open Odin
5. Select AP
6. Select the file you just extracted
7. Click start
I've used these steps without issue. As far as KNOX is concerned, it is my understanding that flashing a custom ROM is what trips it and not stock firmware. I could be wrong on the KNOX issues.
thanks! it is a slow download.... yours is much quicker.
Any particular version of Odin to download? (3.10.6 work? or Samsung Odin 3.09?)
so installing this OVER the lollipop stock firmware I have...very little chance of bricking following the instructions if all goes well right?
I'm not new to flashing just want to make sure as I have heard someone say a samsung rep said you can't downgrade
Thanks very much!
I'm surprised at what you say, I haven't had a single issue with any app being incompatible with lollipop.
These must be pretty outdated apps.
3 of note:
simply note: you can't access it's menu system. (yes it is old, but it works the way I like just fine in kitkat)
xfinity tv go: no audio, freezes, crashes
Both Go Launcher HD & EX do weird things...unuseable.
The latest versions can't be setup the way I prefer and had on previous tablet or phone running kitkat.
all 3 run perfect in kitkat
Now granted all but the xfinity are old, but they work/config the way I want them to be.
I'd rather just have it the way I want then compromise if it all possible.

Version 3.10.6 is the version I use so you should be fine there. I have the same model as you, but mine is 16GB instead of 32. I seriously doubt that would make any difference. Yes, flashing over Lollipop is what I did. Ran into no issues whatsoever!
ok I did that and now it just boots to the samsung logo then holds there.
Tried turning off, won't do it.
held down vol power and home and it goes back into download mode.
I tried to flash again it does it successfully and reboots (just like first time) and it just freezes at samsung boot logo.
before that comes up it does show the green droid for a moment.
any ideas?

Yea, I was freaking out when I first did that. I figured at that point it wouldn't hurt to give everything else a try. Enjoy your KitKat! I noticed that the colors seems to be more vivid with KitKat than Lollipop as well. That's one reason I went back.
Hi...can i have the link again?
TQ.

Back to my Note 2...

I have been away from my Note two for over 2 years since I had my beloved Note 4. Well the 4 kicked the bucket the other day so I had to fire my Note two back up.
What is the newest greatest rom I can put on this. I am still running stock Kit Kat 4.4.2 .
I would like the best newest rom for the the Note two with root and tether. Also a good kernel with battery life.
One problem I am having is every time I Odin TWRP it says complete but I can not get it to come up (volume up,power and home) and it also takes my cell coverage away. I get a red x where the signal bars are. Any help please with some step by step directions
Thanks

take a look at the Note 2 Android Development thread, there are plenty of roms from Stock KitKat based to nogut 7.1.1 aosp.
also when you flash TWRP via Odin make sure that "auto reboot" is unchecked in Odin, and let it flash till it finishes and wait for a while then disconnect the phone and remove the battery and insert it again then try reboot into recovery.
I have never had a problem flashing twrp 3.0 but every time i do on this note 2 it never works. The volume up, power and home and it just stays at the Samsung logo forever. When i restart it, it goes to the normal home screen but i get a red x where my signal bars are and i have no cell signal.
If i use kies to get back to my regular rom i have signal no but still no twrp.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
All i want is the newest greatest rom for note 2 with tether.

Ok, i have another option, download latest KingRoot.apk and install it in your phone, and then root it using that app, after it finishes it should say that your phone was successfully rooted, now download latest TWRP 3 but in image format (.img) not (.tar), and install Flashify app from play store, now open flashify and in flash section choose "Recovery Image" and then "choose a file" and locate the TWRP you downloaded and flash it, now it should say success and ask you if you want to reboot into recovery, press "OK" or "yes" or "let's go".. don't actually remember, but you will get it.
Thanks for helping .
I did everything you said and I am now rooted but when I go to that fly site and try to download any of the twrp it says ...
"something went wrong downloading please try again later" I have done this multiple times and keeps saying the same.
I have never had so many problems putting twrp on my phone.
Thanks again

Oh, i get it now, you are using Sprint note 2 device.
the model number is SPH-L900, i thought you have international version like the N7100 or the N7105.
anyway here you are the TWRP 3.0.2.0 image for the SPH-L900.
sorry, it's a zip file, extract it and you will get the recovery image, I couldn't upload the image directly because i get "error grabbing file.." it's a bug in the XDA Labs i guess.
You are awesome , got it to work . Thanks
Now I have to figure out what to flash.
