Did anyone of you win anything from amazon.in for buying Canvas A1? - Micromax Canvas A1

If any of you preordered this phone, you are eligible for winning a prize that included cash vouchers of upto Rs. 10,000.
The winners were supposed to be announced today, 1st October. Just wondering if any of you won anything cause I haven't received in any email
The odds were pretty good since total no. of prizes were 1610. I doubt that many people preordered this phone.
Here's the contest page: link

I wouldn't be so sure of the odds- they sold 25,000 phones on the very first day. Going by that I am pretty sure they sold around a 100,000 phones cumulative in this period.

Yikes. I thought they sold a lot less than that.
Oh well. I have never won anything in my life so I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up anyway.

Phones4u selling HTC titan

Hi guys just wanted to share my experience with HTC titan. I went into the phones4u store in Basingstoke today and caught a glimpse of a demo unit being shown to a customer. When I asked to look at it I was sat down and asked plenty of questions about my contract. When being asked my name in a store I get a little uneasy... When asked for my phone number when I just want go have a look at a phone I fond it a little annoying. I did say to the girl I just wanted to look at it. She brought her manager over and he indicated the reason they ask the questions is incase i run off with the phone! Lol. I said i should not need to give my number just to look at the device and told him not to bother. I might have been the lucky new owner of a titan! Not today though!
I would plead with anyone in the UK not to bother with phones4u if you can help it. I felt very unwelcome and wish i had never gone in. I would also ask that

I could not read what I was writing. Using omnia 7 on xda app. It would not scroll down.
Continued: if anyone from HTC reads this please don't give phones4u exclusives if they treat their customers in this manner. After all in not going to buy a phone if i can't have a look at it!!
The glimpse from 6ft I did see it looked very nice !

I've totally agree with you. I have only been into a phone4u shop once and I don't think I ever will again. I found them quite rude and unprofessional. My first impression of the staff was chavs! They looked and dressed like the kids you see hanging around the spar shop at night.
I wouldn't trust them personally. Instead I've been using my local o2 shop for many years, mainly because its always a good experience!
Funny you mention it. I called a local store sometime this afternoon about it. They confirmed its availability, but were quick to ask my name. It was a rather strange feeling. Of course, I didn't. Apparently, they only have it on contract ATM and wanted an unlocked version anyways, so I could escape without them asking for my mother's maiden name.
thats what you folks get for doing all of that rioting over there lol
I went to Birmingham Phones4u today with intentions of picking up a TITAN.
The people who greeted me were VERY nice, the first phones they showed me, without me asking questions were the RADAR and TITAN.
I sat down and was told I would pay £33 a month for the TITAN and £9.99 for insurance.
I was fine with that, then 20mins later, they offered me the same deal for £31 p/m and £7.99 for insurance and a free accessory pack
I had a successful day

Awesome. Why don't you put up a (mini, video)review. I really want to know what that screen is like, constrast ratio and viewing angles most importantly. The only thing keeping me from getting it right now.

Unusual for them to be selling locked phones, usually they are sim free they just bundle the contract with the handset
They are unlocked from phones4u. I'm debating buying on eBay from ecell they are only£415 that and a giftgaff sim works out the same as 24 month contract. I just want to hold one and see if its too big. Anyway.. Post was phones4u related and i certainly won't be going back.

If you have ever held a HD7 then the titan would feel very similiar. I went to Phones4U yesterday and requested to see the Titan.. He sat me down and went to pick it up. Fresh out of the box, never turned on. I held it in my hand whilst Brian told me about HTC and his contracts and selling me stuff.
Excellent phone, much better than the HD7. Brighter, and much better build quality. I want one now!
He also took my name and phone number down, and asked me things like with who I am now and stuff..
I might pick one up. But not sure if I should go with phones4u.
So all in all I don't think they are very bad at phones4u. I went to the leading newest store in manchester and Brian was quite frendly.
If they will start phoning me now than I will tell them where to stick it!
One issue though is that they still try to sell me their androids phones. WTF?? I went in there for the titan. And yet he tried to shove me a sensation down my throat. Discusting!
The titan screen is almost half an inch bigger than the HD7. Similar is subjective. It's a bigger phone. If I want something that big, I'll wait and see if the Galaxy Note comes here, otherwise I'll see what comes to T-Mobile though I may be moving for work so a carrier change may be in order.
I can't do CDMA, though. No Simultaneous V&D rules Verizon and Sprint out for me.

I've been watching ecells listing too. 4 sold, 19 more available. The only reason I haven't bought this yet, Samsung and Nokia. If there weren't any rumors about an Omnia S and Nokia announced their line-up already! I hadn't heard about giffgaff but now! Unlimited internet for £10? Checking it out now!
Why Wont Anyone Upload Pictures Or Videos!!!
Gawd I'm so giddy.
Attached is a panorama mode picture I was sent from twitter.
That photo is very very nice. Thanks for posting. I was thinking about the Samsung and Nokia options too. Thing is I guess much like the first gen phones the specs of all the devices is going to be very similar. I have a couple preferences like large battery and super amoled plus but really I think the titan will stack up well against anything due for release in the next few months..
For those with the titan can you let me know if the speaker matches the omnia7's? Historically HTC speakers are very tinny. The hd7's was very very quiet too.
Thanks

OK, I take it back. Went to the store today and the folk were REALLY nice. Had a tour with the device. The screen is awesome sharp, no pixelation obvious. The black levels aren't as great as amoled screens, but not so bad really. Ordered one already!

And they are kept scamming every couple minutes, making me unfollow in an hour
I ended up canceling from them due to their dodgy behaviour... voiding/canceling coupons, requesting more money... saying that everyone has paid up but me, but then in their blog it says people need to pay up... whatever.
I ordered from Expansys and I already got a shipping number and Fedex says its on the truck.

Anyone lost their money from them?
I actually bought twice from them in the past but this time it's been more than 2 weeks and my order still shows New. A friend told me that his order is still new after 40 days. I know they will ship it at some point in time, maybe 2-3 months but I was actually thinking to cancel the order. On the other hand it's about 100EU cheaper than anyone else. All those issues with HOX also made me cool down and add a plus on those thoughts and I'm also making thoughts for SG3.
I know, all review sites on Internet have them very low rated (one star) but still they are by far the cheapest.
Any of you guys lost his money from them?
I didn't personnally buy from them but when i was planning to i did a little a search and found that it's really not recommended, some product arrive very late others never.
Yeah, when I saw those reviews I just didn't care anymore... I'd rather pay 100€ more and actually receive the product than to pay less and get burned...
Now th big concern is if you cancel or not. I've seen that most people who lost their money is when they attempted to cancel orders or claiming funds. That gives them the chance to "confuse" things and keep your money while not sendingany product. Here's the question: to cancel or not to cancel?
I'm a gambler so, I'll take my chances and play heads or tail. I'll give some more days though but in the meantime I recommend that noone uses them. I guess that some people, like myself, don't learn from our past mistakes.

in our country they sell the HOX 700 euros so they are poushing us to buy throu ather countrys
i wish one day they will come to there senses and sell things in a more logical prices
I ordered an HTC Desire HD from them last year. It was taking ages and I cancelled the order. They only cancelled it after 2 weeks chasing them about the cancellation. Finally, after a couple of weeks and tons of emails and threats I got a refund. They have awful support and I do not recommend ordering from them.
Not to mention that the product comes from Hong Kong, so you will need to contact HTC to check if they cover warranty.
I bought my LG Optimus 2x from them, it took ages to arrive but it did in the end. It was a hell of a lot cheaper than everyone else too. Heard some bad things about them so I probably wouldn't use them again though.

I bought 2 cameras from them till date and they both arrived in time as described. The 2 purchases were a year apart. The second camera though had a European battery charger. Apart from the above I haven't had to use warranty on either indicating the items must be genuine.
Mind it - for whatever good or bad reason, I hadn't researched anywhere before buying from them. Had I known about their reviews, I would not have bought from them.
My friend recently purchased ipad2 from them but cancelled it before they despatched and got refunded without any hassle.
Don't know what to advice you but hope the above experiences shared help.

Not worth the trouble!
Just come across this post and thought I'd share my experience (to back up the thousands of others you can find on the net) about how ridiculous SimplyElectronics are as a company and to avoid them if you care for your sanity.
I placed an order for a Galaxy Nexus on 30/06/12, enticed by the low price and 'expect delivery in 2-4 days' advertisement. After 6 days of the order being stuck at 'New' (which I found out means that they haven't even processed the order, it means they have accepted your offer of purchase, which means that they take the money out of your bank, and then do nothing for a while) and after sending a few emails asking why my order hadn't been processed even though the Live Stock Report said there were plenty in stock, I decided to cancel my order on 5/06/12. They asked me why, I explained that I needed the phone as I work offshore and was going away, and had ordered it elsewhere from a more efficient company. They said they understood my decision and my refund request had been passed to the relevant department. I left it for a few days. Then when 10 days later the money hadn't been returned I started emailing them again. I have now been sending emails daily asking for my refund, yet 24 days after cancelling my order I'm still receiving apologetic emails saying they're trying their hardest.
I guess the short version of my warning to others is this is not a company you should conduct business unless you have the patience of a God. I know from looking around other sites I'm not the only one who has been a victim of their incompetence. I'm sure they have 10's of satisfied customers all around the globe, I just wish I'd done more reading first. If you can find the product elsewhere that costs slightly more than they are selling them for, pay the extra, it will save you alot of time.

becouse i think about possible problems with the device
I've posted on Facebook, Google + and anywhere else I could think of after my recent attempt to get a One X from them.
Web showed stock, blurb said dispatched & delivered in 3 to 8 days. Took my money immediately and then the problems started.
Used Barclaycard fraud department to get my money back while I fought SE for a refund. 13th May to today spookily enough to get my refund.
God knows how many calls & emails...
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!
And if you already have, use your card company to get your money back.
Just stop right here. If any manufacture start too sell massively obviously some phones will have problemes like 10%. If you see the most popular phones have problemes.
I've got mine and its a model ht23 without any problemes its the first hox I have and the only.
And with expansys you will have internacional warranty for 2years and houses for support on your country. Trust in expansys!

I did indeed NerdGuy, sorry! But working with Simply Electronics the months just seem to blend into each other it takes that long. I was told today that my refund will be with me within 7 days, I'm neither holding my breath nor stopping the daily emails, after 27 days of asking I fail to believe they'll pull their finger out any time soon.
I learnt the hard way also over a month to get my 500$ back. Since then anything expensive I buy in person regardless if it's $100 cheaper online.

Thats great news for folks who bought from googleplay, shame i bought mine in dixons :crying:
True. It doesn't count for those who purchased them in a store. I guess that would be the store's policy at that point. If Google offered it to ALL 16gb users who purchased after the deadline, then they could effectively double up on the rebate: Pricematch in the store AND credit from Google.
WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT 8GB VERSIONS? Holy hell, it's like we don't exist. I would like something at least from the fact they don't even sell my device anymore.

+1. Guess we get the shaft. Screen lift and smallest size.
Not sure if pissed or happy because rare due to size not being made anymore. Lol
now i wished i bought my device from GooglePlay. Damn. Got mine from GameStop with tax for 16Gb was USD272.
It's complete BS! I bought my 8Gb from the Play store, but as soon as I heard of the 32Gb I called for an exchange. They denied that model existed or would ever exist and said the can't exchange something they don't sell. Then they couldn't even return mine since I was a couple days out of their return window. I couldn't see paying the extra $50 for another 8Gb, but 4x as much makes a bit more sense. Either way I'm stuck now.
Too bad I bought mine back in August :/

Asus is doing something similar directly on their website for UK customers at least...
If you bought your N7 before Oct 30th, they are offering £25 voucher to spend at the Asus store. You just need to register your N7, and they will send an email asking for proof of purchase. Then you'll get the voucher/coupon code later. You can register N7's bought from any authorised retailer. I got mine from PC World :cyclops:
I pre-ordered my 8GB from Google Play and had it RMA'ed once. I think its unreasonable to expect a company to refund on a fully working product that they barely made any money of in the first place, just because they released an updated version months after release.
I can't help but laugh at the people getting pissy. Am I upset that I paid $200 for an 8GB version and then just around the corner they released the 16GB for that much? Yeah. Am I gonna pout and stomp and whine about it? No. Because that's the price of being an early adopter. Now i'm not the type that can just drop money on a new device. You have no idea how many dice I flipped and coins I rolled trying to decide if I should adopt or not. In the end, I ended up getting it even though financially I shouldn't have. But I did, and I early adopted. You should always expect the worse when you adopt early, and then not complain when you get shafted because...well...that's what happens. It's a tough and unfair game. That's life. Suck it up and deal with it like an adult. I can still turn around and sell my N7 for $200 on Craigslist to some guy who has no idea about all of this and not think twice about it. But, I honestly don't use that much memory and I rarely travel so I have no need to store my music and movies on it. I tether it to my phone and there's all my music from amazon and pandora. I watched a movie on it ONCE while I was waiting for my car to be fixed. But that's it. Sad this happened, but I understand that's how the game works. It's not fair and if I had a Google employee in front of me i'd let him know, but I don't so what's the point in crying about it?

I disagree. It's perfectly fair for a company to upgrade its products months after they were released. They have absolutely no obligation to refund anything especially as they already are barely making profit and bundled them with Google play credit.

I'm just saying if they are offering people who bought a 16GB version something, why is it that us 8GBer's get left behind like we are nothing? We bought a product that isn't even being sold anymore, I just feel like they could give us something. "A sorry you bought the wrong one" letter at least.

doesn't matter to me much.. Plus the one my friend bought me over the summer, was long before they even posted that. So I wouldn't even qualify.
That is a great gesture from google. As said above they did not have to offer anyone nothing. I got lucky with Walmart.. I spent some time in the Walmart store a few summers ago working on there automated doors and door locks.. Got to know many people there.. So I took my 16 gb nexus 7 back 24 days after purchase and the manager get me a refund. I then went to Office depot and bought a 32 version...
Im not exchanging this one. I do not need the 3/4 g version. Im going to get a nexus 4 when they come out. My phone is now 3 years old. So this is good timing. I can tether.
I Wish google would offer everyone some kind of deal . But life is not always fair in our own eyes.
Well I got 50 bux back from Amex. I posted my charge, told them the situation and they understood and processed the credit within the next few days. Score!
I am not saying that I am deserving or it was my right to get any funds back, but I figured I'd pose my case and ask. I felt there was not hurting by asking, the worst scenario would be that they would have said no. But they didn't.
Got mine on 7/12/12.

Honestly, I can't see why. If you buy a car, and a new engine comes out replacing yours 2 years later, you wouldn't ask for any compensation or feel stabbed. And we all now that technology is a fast market, where things are constantly changing. I don't feel bad at all for having spent 250€ on my 16GB. And, while I think it's nice that Google offers a refund, I don't think that's neccesary for those who bought the tablet (like me) one month before the 32GB came out. We all knew the possibility of a better model being out later, and we decided to spend our money anyway. We have exactly what we paid for. So what could we possibly complain about?

Geekbuying

I noticed quite a few members ordered their Android TV from geekbuying.com. what is this company like dealing with? Is it a pain in the rear end or smooth transaction?
I noticed they don't add taxes on the checkout bill, do I pay the taxes on delivery?
I know this slightly off topic but I'm one step away from purchasing a MINIX N7.
Thank You

you dont have to pay sales tax on the goods if over internet unless you are in their home state and there is never tax on delivery but check with your state for something called "use tax" i have one in ohio too but no problem as if you are unsure of that bussiness check with bbb( better bussines bureau)

Ontario? you mean in Canada? thats much tricky because you have 2 taes one a national and one a region the online ordering will automatically calculate the tax based on your region

Geekbuying are total scammers. Took my money, never sent me anything and never reply to emails. Made me wait until I couldn't get my money back too. Never again.
Also I'm not the only person to of been ripped off by them, check out all the links to other people who have posted their experiences and been ripped off.
Geekbuying are Mcbub.com, in4dealz.com, freaktab. Once people discover who they are, they make a new site. They post loads of fake reviews online.
Mcbub.com (de-listed from google for 2 years after being caught spamming, fraud, fake reviews, trying to trick google's search engine and also spreading false information).
Here are just a few links I found about them when I was investigating how they ripped me off.

http://www.scambook.com/report/view/213781/GeekBuyingcom-Complaint-213781-for-$280.00
If you open their site and search geekbuying the complaints from people who have been ripped off is sick.
http://www.facebook.com/GeekbuyingThieves?ref=stream
The Facebook link is very good as all the users are verifiable real people. Not like the fake reviews Geekbuying post on the ratings sites.
It will be interesting to see the fake accounts come and attack me now, and what a surprize it will be the same accounts who bump their spam.
Best regards, J

Man this sucks,
I just ordered Minix Neo X7
I paid with PayPal, the email I received said they will ship the product out within 5 business days and provide a tracking number. If I dont receive my device within 20 days I will report it to PayPal to get my money back.

Many members from thir forum order their android TV from Geekbuying with no issues.
geekbuying fraud
Hardly compelling evidence there. I have been more than satisfied with my tvstick purchases. What are you accussing freaktab of?
freaktab = Geekbuying
Checkout the facebook page the angry customers setup and see the ton of users who are real people who have been ripped off. If you say not compelling evidence you're either blind or just an obvious shill for them.

If you get it you can consider yourself one of the lucky ones. Plenty of other places to shop that don't rip people off. I suggest canceling the order now before it ships.
facebook shows less than one complaint a month since March. You are wasting your time posting here, you only joined this forum yesterday, obviously for a solitary rant. I am not being 'shilly' neither am I blind. Chill out, Chinese style.
please leave the negative comments out of here it doesn't belong to this android stick topic do me a favor just leave your rants in other group ok?

don't be a pessimist as it could take 10 days to receive your tracking # then it gets exciting......6 weeks delivery to ca. Patience, they're a long way away and are often lost in translation.

You'll notice the bad reviews are real name users where people logged in by facebook, the one positive review I noticed was posted by "Victor" anonymously.
Mcbub = Geekbuying, thats why they built another site. And already the vast quantity of people who post their complaints have seen through their fake reviews and outright money stealing. Anyone claiming that these guys are great simply works for them.
It's funny to watch shills try to attack me for spilling the beans on these fraudsters.
You Sir, are as mad as a hatter.
I had no problems with geekbuying, I bought two android sticks(Minix Neo G4's) last Christmas took about three weeks to ship to Ireland. One stick failed updating it sent it back and got a replacement for it. It did take a sometime to send back and get a return device, five or six weeks in all but they replaced it and it running great since.

I ordered a T-R42 about two weeks ago from Geekbuying thru Amazon. Ordered on a Saturday night and was plugging it in in MO on Tuesday mid day. You can't get better than that unless you pick it off the shelf yourself at Wally World.
