What do you think of the purple (sorry.. stone) band? - Moto 360

Under the fluorescent lights in my office... the strap looks VERY purple.
In sunlight its less purple.
Is anybody happy with the new stone color strap?

You can easily dye it another color: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-360/accessories/diy-6-fix-stone-purple-band-t2892492

I'm getting used to it. It's a disappointment, but I'm able to pull it off...

I kinda like it. It has a slight purple tint that only seems to show up under florescent lighting. In most lighting, it actually looks like light gray with a little brown tint.

Just got a replacement stone grey due to 5 dead pixels on my grey banded Moto 360. Of course, the replacement has a dead pixel too, right along the edge The new band squeaks like crazy too! It sounds like a $.99 chew toy and feels much cheaper than the first grey leather band.

I exchanged the stone leather band the second I received my m360 - IMO it is ugly. Luckily, I was able to buy a new dark grey band (which I really like) off a generous fellow forum member.

Lol mine squeaks also, and is very stiff. Don't really care for the color ether. But I'm going to order a Ss band once I find one I like. Didn't care for the pebble. Didn't match close enough IMO.

I didn't even know I had ordered a Stone version I thought that was just the name for the Gray one. My main focus was the color of the watch itself thinking that I'll be able to use a bigger variety of bands over the black one. I am disappointed with the color and WOULD BUY A GRAY BAND in a heart beat. On the upside, its kind of neutral looking, I find that it matches a lot of watch faces.

No, it is hideous, far too stiff, was already marred right out of the box, and as others have noted, squeaks like crazy every time it is moved.

It's hideous. I really wish I had gotten the dark gray watch band I had originally ordered (order was lost and I had to wait until the second wave). But for now it'll do I suppose. It does look REALLY purple under the lighting both at home and work. Sunlight it's okay. I guess. Kinda.

Agree. Fugly. No doubt someone at Motorola needs to be fired.
The dark gray band and silver watch look better than black. And black looks better than purple gray and silver. But, I would never purchase the purple gray and silver watch. I have purchased both the dark gray and black watches.
Amazing. Motorola gets the design right with round watch, but kills sales with a purple band. Well, unless some "fashion idiots" actually like purple and purchase purple by the millions. ROFL
There are many design flaws in the Moto 360 so it will never be a huge success. Maybe (or maybe not) Motorola (or someone else) will actually create and sell *Official* bands for the Moto 360 in various colors so consumers can choose their own. If the purple bands kill sales however, we may never see *Official* bands in other colors.
The sooner the purple bands are gone from the market the better. Wake up Morontorola!

i dyed mine black. it is worth wearing out in public now.

Just returned my purple/stone Moto 360 today. I wanted to love it, but just couldn't bring myself to it. I was kicking myself after the dark grey sold out because I had no idea it was a "limited edition launch-only color." Oh well... Now I'm holding out for the SS metal band version for $300. Rumors put that launch date in November. I hope it comes out sooner though.

I think the stone color is absolutely gorgeous and unique looking. I've never seen a leather watch band quite that color. I get a LOT of compliments on it.

So even though I strongly dislike it, I ended up keeping the watch with stone band because it's such a hassle to get the color I actually ordered. And now, I'm regretting that. Why? Because this leather is cheap and nasty, and I'm stuck with it.
I went for a brisk walk earlier. It's a cool day here, but I sweated just slightly -- not enough that I had to wipe my brow, or even close to that, just a very light sweat. The watch band, though, has dyed my wrist purple, and any area of the band that came into contact with sweat has stained and discolored significantly darker. (And that extends around onto the front of the small straps that hold the excess strap down, so it's visible while wearing it.)
This band is terrible, and I strongly recommend avoiding it.

Wow. Shocking. Great post.
Motorola shortcut quality and design of the purple stone gray watch bands to make a quick buck. TOTAL FAIL.
Motorola has really bombed with the stone gray watch band. This will *kill* Moto 360 sales. I've noticed BestBuy has "in stock" on Stone Gray at at least 10 local BestBuy stores (almost all of them). Surely, no one likes them. BestBuy is even obscuring the in stock status on their website - unless you know how to get it. I have some doubts now they might be motivated to hide the fact the stone gray are *not* selling.
I gave a 2 hour Meetup presentation on the Moto 360 last week to a lot of people. I told them to avoid the purple band, e.g. I would never buy the purple band, but *this* (new info) is really damaging to the Moto 360 brand.
I guess its time for Motorola to promote the person responsible and write off the Moto 360 sales of purple stone gray.
Even Google Play refuses to put up current pictures of the Moto 360 with the purple bands. WTF?

I just returned my stone grey back to Best Buy here in West Palm beach for pixels. They had none in stock but did notice the watch they had on display (floor sample) had a very darker grey band, not like the stone grey. It looked beautiful. I really like that dark grey so think I'll wait some more to see if they come back out with that color again.

seriously... there was some dye left on the band that did not get washed off. one guy says he had some bleeding of the dye and all of the sudden moto had a "TOTAL FAIL". the band is ugly i have to say... but there is no difference in it and the other bands except for the color. they are all cheap horween bands. bonded with glue and the bonding is covered up with some dyed plasticy stuff on the sides. just as it has been done ever since i was a kid.
to tell people not to buy something because you don't like the color is a bit foolish don't you think? uninformed much?

We disagree. Your hypothetical dye answer is uninformed, as are comments by non-owners. But, typically, the messenger gets shot by some people wearing blinders. Clearly the light band (purple stone gray) stains badly with sweat, because even my dark gray has sweat marks - but stains are much less visible on darker bands. There are many other Moto 360 design flaws, but stone gray bands are killing sales. Yet, I think Motorola should gift you a watch for your threads on color dye and leather band options.
I suggest everyone informs themselves by checking out their own ZIP Code for BestBuy stock. My ZIP Code in North Carolina has twenty three stores with In Stock - Pick Up Today. The 37075 ZIP in TN has twenty four stores with In Stock - Pick Up Today.
There are only two color choices. The Black is out of stock. The dark Gray is discontinued. The dark gray sold on eBay for at least $10 to $20 more than black, based on my observations. I have not checked purple stone gray prices on eBay yet. Popularity of the Moto 360 will likely determine if additional *official* bands will ever be available for sale - I predict failure here too.
My facts are *informed* information for everyone at my Meetup group and this is why the purple stone gray is TOTAL FAIL.
UPDATE: The people using unofficial steel bands and cracking the backs of their watches are a HUGE problem for Motorola because Motorola has released no alternative *official* bands, and any common (non proprietary) steel watch band will likely break your watch back. Once people figure out how this limits their style choices on the Moto 360 the sales will suffer greatly. I almost returned mine the day I realized backs crack with pebble steel bands - and why.

I'm a sweaty guy and I've ran/worked out with my purple/stone band for the past week... mine hasn't had any issue (other then the normal odor of sweaty leather :cyclops: ).
I'm also a huge watch nut. I've paid more for a leather strap that cost more then the Moto 360 more times then my wife would like to count.. and the stone strap isn't a bad strap (for its price). The stone color is unique, you either like it or you don't... but to judge a watch by its strap is hilarious ("I took mine back because i didn't like the color"... really? )
Watch bands are 'accessories'... Spend $10 on ebay and get a different strap! Or heck.. dye it black like a few people have done.
The more wear-and-tear i put on the stone color the more i like it... It actually looks like stone now!

New 'stone' leather bands are shipping from Motorola

There's been some discussion about this buried in other threads, but today I received my Moto 360 which I'd ordered from Motorola.com on 9/16, and I can confirm that the band is the third, newer color, which Motorola had said would take the place of the gray leather.
I'd previously seen both a gray and a black strap on the Best Buy display units, so off the bat visually I can tell this is the new color. Additionally, and interestingly, the underside of the packaging has a [hastily torn off the thermal printer] sticker, which is laid OVER another sticker underneath, and it's quite clear the original sticker said "GREY LEATHER" and the new sticker says "STONE LEATHER".
I'd describe the color of the band as kind of a purplish gray actually. I definitely prefer the original gray if I had a choice, but this'll do until it gets replaced.

Does it have a suede finish like the grey band does? I didnt realize that Moto was selling the 'new' color; I actually like the grey band better.

Not suede, its a fairly smooth grain on top. The inside has a very slight softness, like suede, to it. I felt like the gray band felt softer to me, but could be because it was handled to death at best buy... It was very worn in.

Yes, the grey band is soft & has a suede finish to it. Since I returned my grey moto 360 to BB due to it malfunctioning, I ordered a 'replacement' from Moto on 9/16 but thought I was ordering the same band. Sucks. Time to see if I can find one to buy.
Fossil has a couple of great looking 22mm leather bands for under $25 with free return shipping if it doesn't fit or you don't like it, so I'll probably get a sturdier band anyway.

Could you please confirm me that the the Model ID for the Stone Leather Moto360 is 00583NARTL? It's written on the sticker you mention, on the back of the box.
The question is due because on my local forum no one would believe me that there are three variants of Moto360 currently being sold. None of the Youtube reviewers seem to be aware of this as well. But the funniest stuff is that when on Motorola's site you select the Stone leather Moto360 you get the wrong picture of the watch (with a dark gray band). Three days ago I contacted Motorola's help chat to mention this and to suggest they change the image back to the one they used a week ago, but the guy at the help desk (named Aaron) didn't know which watch Motorola was selling and told me "we will verify the site". Three days have pased, the wrong picture is still there...
Anyways, for those of you who want to see the difference between the three straps, please find below the images with all three Moto360's available today.

Same here. I really dislike the new stone grey band and changed it out the second I got my watch. It's a good thing that we can change out the bands.
Anyone interested in buying or trading a stone grey band for dark grey band, PM me.
I have the original gray band that I am willing to part with. Tell me what it's worth to you-I have no clue.

Would love to get an original gray leather band too... Was always sold out when I tried. Had to get Stone.
I am also dissapointed, that I will not be able to get dark grey variant. Good thing that the band is replaceable, so now its about to find some similar on the internet. Please post your tips.
I found one on techswiss website, but unfortunately can't post links there yet.. (watch-band-dark-grey-genuine-leather-alligator-grain)
I'm also trying to buy or trade for the original dark grey leather band. I had the dark grey originally, but my Moto 360 started acting up so I exchanged it, and unfortunately was sent the new stone leather band. I personally preferred the dark grey leather band over the new light stone grey one. Please PM me if you have the dark grey leather that you're willing to sell.
Also interested in trading the stone gray band for either the dark gray or black band. Please PM me for details if interested.
I had a dark gray for two days, but had an issue with the watch and had to return it. i prefer the suede texture over the leather even though the stone leather color is not that bad.
If anyone is willing to sell be their band I'm interested.
On another note, how has the suede band worn over time? does it still look ok, for example the edges?
I have a dark gray band that I'm not using, but I don't think I want to part with it. Could help me when I go to sell the watch.

My Moto 360 official metal band replacement review

I originally purchased my Moto 360 with the "stone leather" band. Color is the ugliest from all the leather bands, but it was the only one available at the time with a silver watch (which was a must for me). All was fine and dandy, until the band begun to smell awful. I did wear my watch while doing weight training four times a week, but I suppose that's why it has a heart rate monitor, right ? I tried to get off the smell using a stain remover called "Vanish" which "eliminates 99% of bacteria". It did eliminate the original bad smell but another chemical smell took its place and stayed there. I finally destroyed the color of my leather band using sodium bicarbonate in one last try to eliminate the smell.
I didn't want to use 3rd party metal bands because I was afraid I would end up with a cracked watch back, and also due to the watch lugs design, they don't look good attached to the watch because they form a steep angle while exiting the watch, leading to a "hockey puck" look.
Finally the official metal bands became available via Amazon (the only ones shipping to a package forwarding addres - I live inside EU). I purchased the band for more money than I would like to spend but it was a must. I also purchased a cheap set of tools to help me replace it. I replaced the band in about 2 hours, being very careful not to scratch anything, and I succeeded to keep the watch intact. However, from this experience I advise you that this is not a simple operation and it's better to go to a jeweler. This is because the pins are hidden inside the watch and the original band takes up all the space and the pins are not visible and are hardly reachable. Also, the link pins are very hard to get out from the band in order to adjust, even with specialized tools. I really hope Motorola changes the band attachment and adjustment style on the Moto 360 v2, an easier procedure is sorely needed. Maybe they could take some hints from the Apple Watch
The band feels a lot better on hand compared to the leather band (strangely). The leather band was constantly reminding me that it's there, like I had some kind of allergy to it, I had to adjust it all the time, plus the bad smell. The metal band heats up to body temperature and you really don't feel it, despite being heavier. However, in my opinion, the metal band is about 1-2mm wider than ideal. Its actually 23mm instead of the standard 22mm. It's out of balance compared to the watch diameter and overall size. Another disadvantage of the metal band is that at the watch entry point the band looks unnatural, unfinished. The wide links end about 3mm before the rest of the band enters the watch, creating this "unfinished" effect. I think they could have done a better design. But this is a minor problem, overall the watch looks a lot better with the metal band. I do think it would look very good with the new cognac leather band, but I have to wear it while training so I can't use any more leather bands. Maybe a silicone band would come handy.
About the cracked back issue, the official metal band has 2 plastic pieces that are designed in such a way that the metal band never touches the watch back. Even the plastic pieces don't put strain on the back, it's very well designed in this regard.
A picture of the watch is attached to this post. Thanks for reading
Thank you for your input and the picture.

I did at first also.
But after checking it out at BB, I wasn't impressed.
I'm now leaning to the Moto band, or this Mesh one on Amazon:

I guess no one has paired the steel watch with the black steel official band? What do you think:
Sent from TabPRO 8.4
It's an interesting look, but I'd still go with the silver one, on the silver Moto 360. I just wish the bands were a bit cheaper. 79.99 is kind of a lot.
I finally got mine from Moto - I ordered the black watch with black band and they held it up for a month waiting for the screen protector to come in. Jerks. But I digress
The band was too small so I added a link using a cheap kit I bought on Amazon (and man are the tools included cheap! Not quite single use but close). The band was too wide to see what I was doing in the pin removal tool so I had to do it manually with a dinky hammer and an appropriate pin removal tool. Long story short, it wasn't terribly difficult to just add or subtract a link.
It looks good and works well - my only gripe is that the little space between the band and the watch case doesn't look like what I'm used to looking at.
For those of you thinking the bands are expensive... I tried to order a replacement band for my TAG sports elegance watch and those burglars wanted $600 for a new band. So I got a moto360 instead.

[Q] black fitness band

Was planning to buy a Tylt band in black but they are sold out in ever website I have found. Looking for input on a black band that would be a quality band and hold up to working out? I want solid black to contrast with the silver case, maybe even with a bit of a shine to it like the dark black screen has if that makes sense. I am not looking for a cheap band, I want a band that is and looks like a quality band. Obviously not looking for black tie but something I could wear outside the gym also and doesnt look like I paid $2 for it at a flea market.
I have been using the Tylt band on my moto 360 for a while. Black band on black dial watch.
I use it for my morning runs as well as wear the same to my office. Looks alright
I got this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X6LE85S and works fine. Had it for a month or so now. I wear it running every morning (weekdays anwyway) and pretty much 24x7 besides charging it for an hour each evening.
None of the good ones on a Amazon ship to the uk!

Brothers and Sisters, I've Seen The Light

Well, it was actually a demo unit in my local 'Carphone Warehouse' but OMG!!!
Trust me folks, however many pictures of the Note 10+ that you've seen, nothing prepares you for the sheer beauty of this device, absolutely stunning even sans the punchole.
I managed to persuade the sales agent to show me the back of the 'Aura Glow' model and I swear I saw an angel smiling at me through the shards of heavenly coloured lights that seemed to reach into my soul.
Anybody that covers up the back of this phone with a non clear case, should be branded as a heretic and stoned with 'iPhones'.
I'm mustering every ounce of self discipline to stop myself from running back into the shop and liberating every Note 10+ in stock, but I have my family and goldfish to think of, so roll on Friday.
You are wasted on these forums. Might have to take a trip to CPW myself, armed with sunglasses.

I'll probably regret getting Aura Blue instead of Aura Glow but I figured everyone would get the Aura Glow so I wanted to be different. The videos I have seen of the Glow are amazing. The blue does look pretty amazing to though.

LOL - well said - me, personally I am mostly interested in the beauty of the screen and the power underneath - I played around with a Note 10 Plus at ATT the other day and was blown away as you are. Friday can't come soon enough.
I am kind of a boring guy - I got the Aura Black - which seems like a fancy way of saying it is a Black Phone - but just the same, it is the SCREEN I am most interested - and what I will be looking at nearly 100 percent of the time....

I saw the black, blue, and glow at Best Buy on display. Glow is more muted in person than it is in videos. It's the color I went with, just because it was so different than any of my previous phones. My last two Notes were blue.
But. I will say the Aura Blue is gorgeous. It's not just a flat blue like the Note 9 or even the glossy blue of the Deep Sea Blue Note 8. It color shifts just a tad from dark blue to Royal Blue depending on the light.

The black is anything but plain black. It's almost a charcoal in some light. It's a very good looking phone. It almost had me wishing I had stuck with the 512GB instead of opting for the 256 to get the glow. But I've had a few black phones before, and glow is so different.

I agree, so what would the best clear case be? I wish they made the OtterBox Pursuit series for the Note line but they don't. I was thinking about getting the "Ghostek Atomic Slim" but I've read people said they had reception issue because of the Aluminum bumper. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VJJMD25/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1-jxDbKBJBJH4

I like 'ultra thin' cases, I find that even most cases touted as being 'slim' do add some bulk. Since I'm very careful with my phones these are adequate for my needs, and the once or twice that they've been dropped (by other people), no damage was incurred.
I have this one already, waiting to go on my phone the second it's unpacked.

I have this one on order.

I returned this one because I don't like the camera cutout.

For me, bulky cases hide the original design of the phone too much, which sort of defeats one of the factors that made me buy it in the first instance.
It's like buying a Lamborghini and then covering it with thick armour plating because you're afraid of scratching the paintwork.

To each their own. I dont purchase technology for the looks, I purchase it for the performance and what it can actually do. Sure I purchased the Aura Glow version and I'd like to show it off with a see through case, but its the big beautiful screen and camera performance that matters most to me.

Thanks for your opinion.
Doesn't sans mean without?
I originally went with Aura Glow then decided on black since I will be putting a skin on it anyways. I always hated how the blue accents limited my skin choices on my note 9. Even though I loved the color itself.
Too bad they don't have the Aurora glow in 512gb version so I got the black one because that's the only one with that size storage. I find it kind of lame that they did that. But oh well I'm getting a rugged case anyways because I don't want it to break like my note 8 lol. I also find it dumb that they are going to release the 5G versiĆ³n for TMobile later on ?*
I always get black phones. There is something about shiny or light colored phones.
It's the camera. I use my phone a lot at live music gigs with all the lights and stuff going on.
I always have it in a case anyways.
I agree, the "glow" is like a big diffraction grating spewing rainbow colors like a big bag of skittles just exploded. Like an air hockey table, it's a novelty that wears off fast.
If you see the glow, you know the phone has "only" 256GB of storage so there's that.
I was hesitating to pre-order until I saw the demos at best buy the day after the announcement. Went with the unlocked aurora blue trading in my wifes s8+ and getting the 200 dollar credit on the galaxy watch. Watch is coming today and phone tomorrow, can't wait.
I decided to go with black 256gb 5G, 512gb in 5G isn't available in UK through Samsung.com. Just checked tracking info, it says delivery is due tomorrow (Thursday) was expecting Friday so can't sleep anymore now.
