DLNA AllShare testing

I haven't seen a thread on this yet so I decided to test it out last night. Here are the results (TV is a Sony 60KDLNX720):
From the TV:
1) Browsing and viewing video from the phone: worked as expected.
2) Browsing and viewing photos from the phone: No photos found.
3) Music: No music on phone, couldn't test.
From the Phone:
1) Browsing and playing video on the TV: Could not connect to TV. Could not find a way to make it work.
2) Browsing and displaying photos on the TV: Worked as expected, but pretty slow with 2.5 MB photos.
3) Music: No music on phone, couldn't test.
So the result is that it works, barely well enough. You can actually display both videos and photos on your TV, but you have to use the TV interface to view videos and the phone interface to display photos. Certainly not ideal and hopefully it can be patched or a work around found.
I've done DLNA to the same TV via my PS3 without any problems.
I haven't had a chance to test the MHL port as I don't have an adapter. But I've heard from other posts that it is mostly working (but may have audio issues).
I could add to this and say I was able to stream to my Logitech Revue Google TV.
has anyone been able to make this work on a Mac? I would like to stream video/photo from my phone to my screen. I tried twonky & serviio, was able to stream from Mac -> phone, but never the other around. it always says "Device not found".

Click to collapse
Don't have a Mac, but iMediaShare [lite] is worth a try...

DNLA with The Samsung Galaxy S3?

I don't know if anyone can help me but I figured I could ask. I have a LG BluRay DVD Home theater System that has DLNA ability that is hooked to my HD tv that is not. My home theater reciever is not currently hooked up to my wireless network but I see that the receiver does have a ethernet port in the back. I am mainly trying to connect my galaxy s3 to my tv to stream video etc. Does anyone know if I direct connect the DLNA capable home theater receiver to my wireless router, which will connect it to my wireless network, will I then be able to send info from my galaxy s3 to my theater system which will show up on my TV? Sorry for the noob question but i got to start somewhere.....Any information will help based on my situation of not having a DLNA capable TV lol
Unless i am wrong i dont think you can stream video from your device to the tv. IT has to be content loaded on y our device. Like a movie, song or picture.
Hulu and Netflix and anything you can watch on your device via streaming method will only display on your screen or if you have an MHL adapter.
By using the DLNA app it acts as a media server so you can use your tv/bluray device to brows certain media types on your phone and play them on your tv.
My PS3 is hooked up to my router via the RJ45 jack, and my phone is on the same network via WiFi. They will see each other.
As long as its the same network and the devices are DLNA compatible you should be able to get content off your phone and onto the TV.

[Q] Please help streaming to my TV

Hi all, I'm new to the android world and I need a bit of help streaming video from my Galaxy S3 to my Sony Bravia KDL-46NX810
I was able to easily stream audio and pictures to the TV but when I tried video, the phone pops up with an error message stating "Change Player - Player is not available. Check the network status connected device." The TV is fully wireless and web enabled. Has netflix built in and all.
I've tried playing an MP4 and AVI file but nothing works. This was using the stock video player that comes with icecream sandwich.
I tried using iMediaShare as well but this pops up with the error - "The specified resource has a MIME-type which is not supported by the AVtransport service.
TV is connected wirelessly to the network.
If anyone has experience with this, I would really appreciate the help.
Thank you.

[Q] Note2 as DLNA Renderer [PS3 Media Server] - Anyone Had Success?

Hi Folks,
I have an Ubuntu Server running the PS3 Media Server (pms-linux) DLNA server.
I have it configured to stream audio/video files out to PS3, iPad (via AirPlayer or GoodPlayer apps). It also happily streamed to my Sony Xperia Arc S via the built in DLNA app there (which pushed the stream to MX Player).
Having moved to the Note2, I hoped to continue to use the functionality, and was happy to see the stock Music/Video players plus AllShare Player all have DLNA functionality, and, indeed, the server shows in the list of local servers.
However upon trying to connect to the server, I get various error messages on the phone. Tailing the logs, I have adjusted the Android.conf file so that it's selected when the Note2 connects, I've also had it so that the same file as the Xperia Arc S uses is selected. Both, however, to no avail. The phone continues to refuse to have anything to do with PS3 Media Server, I can't stream files from it & play them on the phone.
I'm going to go looking around Google Play for other DLNA capable apps, and couple those with MX Player, to see if I have any better luck, but it would be great to be able to ge the stock apps working.
Has anyone else had any luck with this? If so, could you post your .conf file?
Thanks!
Gav.
Skifta
Well... I tried the same thing. But I couldn't. The best option to stream to XMB is with Skifta. It works perfectly for me with videos, photos and music too.
ArkMC
I use ArkMC for near the same case
It has free version with dlna renderer.
Also tried Skifta - nice design but boring usability.

Wifi-Debugging and time-shift to USB-drive

Hello everyone,
I am owning a 65OLED903/12 TV on android 8 and do want to be able to access the ADB interface over Wifi to determine in my ioBroker Smarthome system what kind of service is currently in use (live TV, Netflix, Amazon prime etc.) and to control the device (e.g. switch off when a time-limit is reached, volume control etc.). I am able to perform all the tasks if I am able to access the ADB interface over Wifi.
The downside to this is, that when I enable USB-debugging, the build-in time-shift functionality to pause and resume live-TV stream by utilizing a USB-thumbdrive for bufferung is not available anymore.
Now the question is: how can I use ADB over Wifi with leaving the USB functionality available, explicitly the time-shift functionality? Or: Is there a tool that I can sideload, which offers a similar API or a local ADB availability be able to perform the above tasks via a local HTTP-API or something similar?
Cheers
SEB
