[Q] Bootloop - Amazon Fire Phone

Hey,
i just got a bootloop...
I still can access the recovery menu but Windows wont allow me to reinstall the adb drivers... so my fire phone is just known as "SD4930UR" in the device management ...
adb wont recognize it as device -.-
Anyone got an idea how to get this thing back working?
Cheers,
Xerx
//Edit: OK got it... windows just had to be restarted... -.-

Hi,
i think you are using Windows 8 or newer?
When not:
Try go to Device Manager - choose SD4930UR -> Drivers -> Driver update -> Search on Computer -> Here you choose ADB Driver
When using new windows: Try to use this http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-can-i-install-hardware-with-unsigned-drivers-in-windows-8/
After boot you can choose the unsigned ADB Driver -> adb prompt is working again

You can do it with side-load, get the updated version of ROM in bin form, from Amazon's website and sideload to your phone. You won't lose any data with this process.

In my case, doing a sideloaded update with 4.6.6 bin file didn't resolve the reboot loop. Unfortunately.
I've also read elsewhere that a battery fault can cause this issue. So that's also something else for people with this issue t consider.

If side loading doesn't help then it's a dead battery. Replacement is pretty straightforward and the costs are around $40.

My phone is working with the power source only as I unplug it goes in bootloop .
should I just do adb or replace my battery??
do I need to install any driver's to do sideload adb ??

What symptoms are you getting? How do you know it's in NVFlash mode?

The update was most likely incomplete/corrupt. Unfortunately, I've heard that the Ouya uses SBK in nvflash. You should try the print screen method of forcing a reboot to recovery (check out the post by mbm http://forums.ouya.tv/discussion/1380/recovery-mode). If you can get there, we can get you a flashable zip that would solve the issue.

Black screen and I connected ouya with my computer. It enumerates with an nvidia vendor id.

Unfortunately, print screen method (keyboard seem doesn't work in apx mode) doesn't work.
Have you tried to see if fastboot works, e.g. "fastboot devices" to see if the ouya shows up?
If you need to install fastboot, you can use this guide to install and configure the SDK http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41247928

What is the exact VID/PID?
If it fails to boot anything but APX mode, you are screwed. APX is locked down on the ouya (So much for "Open", eh?), and there's basically no way to get around it.
OUYA can *probably* fix it ,assuming they even know the SBK is set (I'm not really convinced.).
The weird thing however:
None of the released OTA's flash the bootloader or anything else that should ever be able to cause it to get stuck in APX.
No amount of failed flashing should be able to get it into that mode, ever!

I hope OUYA to release SBK and files for NVFlash (and obviously source code of rom and kernel, is it open console or not???? ). I don't want lost more money for a return (shipment fees and customs duties, I'm in Italy).

In fact, It is incredible.
In the first day, my console is stuck in "Type password to decrypt storage" message after os boot. I succeded enter in recovery mode and make a factory reset. Yesterday this issue with APX mode. OUYA console is not ready for mass market.
The modem updater-scripts for my GS3 usually check a hash of applicable files before flashing. Ouya can probably do the same to ensure that they don't write a bad system partition / boot.img to the device. From the description, it sounds like the weak networking capabilities of the Ouya caused the updater.zip to incompletely download. Then the reboot into recovery caused the corrupt zip to be run. Basically...the update bricked the device. They need to fix both the weak networking and update their scripts to account for potentially corrupt files. It would be cool if we could somehow trick the device back into recovery.

[Q] E988 Cant get in Download mode (no custom recovery)

Hello all, I have a problem with my LG oprimus G pro:
I have updated to official 4.4.2 and it was a bit buggy. So I decided to flash CyanogenMod
So the first thing is to root the phone I did that from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2695263
post #4 guy named galapagos has roottool.kitkat.zip attached. So I downloaded roottool.kitkat.zip unpacked it to "root" folder
folder tree:
--------root
--root.zip
--adb.exe
--AdbWinApi.dll
--AdbWinUsbApi.dll
--StartRoot.bat
and ran the StartRoot.bat that I found inside.
All it did was reboot the phone to stock recovery waited for me to click install from sideload and it than executed next command:
.\adb.exe sideload root.zip
the phone rebooted, and I installed rootchecker app to test if I had root. The test was positive. cool
now I wanted to install CyanogenMod I downloaded the latest build from here http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=e980&type=
I renamed the file I downloaded to root.zip placed it in the folder where StartRoot.bat is (replacing the old root.zip) and ran StartRoot.bat once again.
the phone verified the root.zip and started to install it. In the middle of installation it aborted the installation and rebooted the phone. it will not boot to android system (I wonder why ) instead I am greated with LG security error after witch the phone turns itself off.
I have tried getting into download mode buy key combination= hold volume+ and volume - together and connect usb. It only starts charging.
when I press volume down+ home+power it takes me to factory hard reset. but the reset changes nothing...
do you have any ideas how I can unbrick my phone? Will USB jig work on LG phones?
Manually uninstall and reinstall LG drivers. text me if it works for you.

I got the problem too with my G PRO, that I get a hard time to get into download mode. It always starts the phone. So just be patient, try it more, just remove the battery if the method gets awry. I tried it many times, then it worked.

You can try to plug your phone on the PC, go to cmd within adb, key in adb reboot recovery. Voila.

Hello everyone, its been a while, thainks to all for trying to help me
In case anyone is wondering, after I realised I couldnt do anything myself, I gave the phone to phone service.
Acctualy, I gave it to couple of services, some of them didnt know what the problem was, and they were unable to Jtag it.
The others said it was the problem with the emmc chip.
the last service I gave it to (as I understand) tried to flash it with firmware? that isnt made for E988.
Now when I power it on the screen is blank and the button led is changing collers.
I have accsepted the fact that the phone is dead

yea, i was going to say hold down volume + and plug in usb cable to get into download mode. if that doesn't work, it's a world of headache.
it's not just the phone you should check if youre having problems flashing/rooting/going into download mode, you should also check your computer, do a reboot or try reinstalling your mobile drivers and the apps you are going to use.

This is what I would do,
Go to LG developers and create an account to unlock your bootloader, NOTE - when unlocking your bootloader it will erase everything on your device so back up everything that is important before unlocking
Then download Genisys rom 2.8 MM and Genisys bootloader and modem version 20D then download twrp 2.8.7.0
1.transfer the downloaded files onto your phone
2.flash twrp
3.boot into twrp and wipe system/data/dalvik/cache
4.install Genisys rom then let phone reboot
5.reboot back into twrp recovery and flash Genisys bootloader and modem 20D
Done...
Any questions you have just message me back but if you follow my guide step by step you'll be fine and on marshmallow in no time.....
---------- Post added at 12:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 AM ----------
It is best to download the rom, bootloader, modem and twrp on a pc first and then transferring to device also you will have to make sure that the drivers are fully installed on your pc for your phone, also you will need the adb files to create an adb connection so check some videos on YouTube from XDA and root junky to be fully sure you have all the files....
It sounds quite hard but as long as you have all the files and follow all the instructions you will be able to do it...
thanks for all this, im going to attempt it all tonight as i have the night off work...slowly making my way through the LG unlocking bootloader lol

It's okay, don't worry fella
The main thing is you've unlocked your bootloader and you can boot into your phone ( things could be a lot worse trust me)
Go into device manager and check if your phone is in there also plug your phone in enable USB debugging install drivers disable USB debugging,
Switch to mtp install drivers then switch to ptp (the other one) and try to connect that way,
Don't give up buddy you've done really good so far, I have to go work soon but as soon as I'm back I'll check XDA for your post and help as soon as I can.....
ok just found out, after double checking the developer options, it seems the debug usb check box was checked off [does it auto check off on shut down?]
is it best to try install this recovery first before that marshmallow kdz file?

Also if you have an sd card then put it in an sd card reader plug in pc and copy the files from pc then insert into phone and if you still can't connect via adb then look for an app on XDA called flashfire and use that to flash twrp I'll check back as soon as I'm back from work...

[Softbrick] Every ROM stuck in Bootloop

Hello,
I really dont know what to do anymore.
No matter which ROM I flash, I always get stuck in a bootloop. I always wait 20-25 for a boot, but it doesnt pass the bootanimation.
Here is what happened:
My PC didnt recognize my phone anymore even though I didnt change any driver settings or something like that. Same with other PCs, not even showing up in device manager at all. So I thought I messed up some settings in my phone, thats why I wiped data, system, cache, internal store, then pushed a new ROM to my phone via USB OTG, but it doesnt boot at all. Phone still doesnt get recognized by any pc, not even in TWRP or bootloader.
Here are the things I tried so far:
- Ressurrection Remix (latest 3 versions) with OpenGapps
- Lineage OS with DynamicGapps
- both of them without any gapps
- OMNI Rom with DynamicGapps
I also did a factory reset before every flash. After 20 minutes of bootloop I also tried a 2nd boot for 20 minutes...nothing.
Since I cant access my phone from PC I cant flash stock ROM (or is it possible to flash it via TWRP?). I guess I just wiped something that I shouldnt have wiped. Does anyone have an idea what else I could try?
I had something similar happen to my 5x a while back. After fiddling with drivers/device manager etc, I found this on net which actually worked for me:
Solution 5 – Uninstall Android drivers if PC not recognizing phone
Sometimes you might not have the latest drivers, or your drivers might not be properly installed, so in order to fix issues with Android devices and Windows 10, it’s advised that you uninstall your Android drivers. To do so, follow these steps:
Connect your Android device to your computer and open Device Manager.
In Device Manager locate your Android device. Usually it’s located in Other Devices or in Portable devices section, but the location might be different on your computer.
Right click the device and choose Uninstall.
uninstall-driver
After the drivers have been uninstalled, disconnect your Android device.
Reconnect it again, and wait for Windows 10 to install its drivers again.
Check if your Android device is now recognized.

Above post fixed my driver/PC not recognizing phone issue. As far as your bootloop issue, I'm assuming your bootloader is still unlocked, right? If so, and if above fix works where PC recognizes phone, try flashing google factory images via fastboot commands.

Since it doesnt show up in device manager, I cant uninstall the driver there.
I also tried it on a new PC that did never get in touch with an android phone - nothing. Not even a sound when I plug it in. The phone is just charging, thats it.
Have you tried using a different cable?

Hello,
I really dont know what to do anymore.
No matter which ROM I flash, I always get stuck in a bootloop. I always wait 20-25 for a boot, but it doesnt pass the bootanimation.

Yeah I always used that tool in the past. But since my PC doesnt recognize the phone at all, not even in fastboot mode, that doesnt help me. I really need a solution that works just with TWRP...
Edit: Just an idea from my side. Would it work if someone, who just cleaned flashed, makes an nandroid backup, which I just restore with TWRP?
what radio at you installed? 7.1.1 02.2017 for TWRP

sorry, I have inattentively read the previous post. redownload zip if doesn't help, then your recovery is damaged and it is necessary to look for a way to connect him to PC
Problem solved. Got a new USB cable today, it worked now. Flashed stock image, it finally booted.
But wow, the old cable is already broken after 3 months...well it still charges very fast, but thats it.

Please confirm this is bricked

Hi guys,
I know there are plenty of posts about bricked phones and I've read most of them. Just want to do a sanity check here. If my phone has a LOCKED bootloader and USB debugging is NOT enabled, there is nothing I can do in terms of flashing an image right? I can enter bootloader and stock recovery, but when I boot to OS it bootloops.
Just want to confirm my only option is warranty claim with Google and there's no way to enable USB debugging other than from the OS?
Thanks in advance!

Go into the bootloader and on a PC with adb run "fastboot flashing unlock" and see what happens. I don't think you need adb enabled to do it but I could be wrong so just try

@piotrus22 another option would be to go into recovery and adb sideload the latest ota package from google.
Can you side load with debugging off?
Also have you factory reset from recovery?

Not sure if you can but it wouldn't hurt to try. That night work too
Try to sideload the latest ota image.

Well unfortunately you're out of things to try.
If your phone happens to be a 128gb model this is actually quite common.

Further confirmation of problems with some 128 units.

I hope your phone is under warranty because Google won't do crap if it isn't. I'm a proud owner of a POS 128GB brick thanks to their junk they sell.
