@B1ackByte
Ok can someone verify the MD5 listed for the two 3.5.bin files
I have downloaded both files 3 times each and they all have the same MD5
DDACA0BF052687995B1F491935024D51
not the one above 75802d1c80418bad618a2f8c8637289a
also My phone come with FireOS 3.6.8 and downgrading is not working out
I get numorious problem's / errors, number one being the phone will not register with Amazon and the wifi is very weak and the app drawer is mostly empty. I'm sideloading the 3.6.2 OS Now,
Well I got everything now but the phone will not register with Amazon with Data or Wifi
I guess I'll have to call them, I'll also have to put the last version FireOS from their site back on the phone 3.5.2

maybe you can upload your build.prop from 3.6.8?

The FireOS 3.6.8 is long gone ... I have flashed / sideloaded nearly every file listed above just to get the phone working again.
Everything works with 3.5.2 or 3.6.2 international you just can't register the phone with Amazon. I have done several factory resets with all the different versions nothing seems to help

Dude, I failsauced too. Stuck on 3.5.2 no registration. Someone post the 3.6.8 update bin for unlocked fire phones.

Yup.. it sucks. Anyway, MD5 for 3.5.0 for mine is also ddaca0bf052687995b1f491935024d51.

easier way is to upload build.prop file (you can use any File Explorer to get it)
With build.prop file we're able to download 3.6.8 firmware from amazons server!
PLEASE: befor anyone downgrade grab that file!
have file now - but firmware is not available :/ so please stay away from downgrade 3.6.8
ok i took a look at my 3.5 Firmware File which one i use for my FirePhone with root (File from 10.10.2014) and it have 'ddaca0bf052687995b1f491935024d51', too.
that means that md5 hash in the first post is wrong.

Based on the patterns for the previous downloads, the link for 3.6.8 should be:
https://fire-phone-updates.s3.amazonaws.com/update-fire-phone-36_32.1.2.8_user_128003620.bin
Sadly, it doesn't work nor do many other slight variations. They must not have made the image available yet.

I talked to amazon support yesterday and they said 3.6.8 rom is not publicly available but they promised to contact me with a solution. I'll keep you guys posted as soon as I hear from them.

Gahhh, this sucks. I cannot connect to Amazon after I downgraded to attempt to root my Fire Phone. I'm glad I bought two, because this is so so annoying!
Amazon should have posted the unlocked update as soon as they started shipping the unlocked phone. For exactly this reason!

Have you had any luck with a response from Amazon? I flashed back before the warning about going back was thrown out to everyone, so I've currently got a Fire Phone sitting here with 3.6.6 (anything 3.6+ seems to function) that won't register with Amazon. Unfortunately, I can't even get Google Play to work on this software version, so it's sitting here appless aside from anything I sideload, which isn't especially efficient. My goal was to give this to my fiancé as a Christmas gift (she's pretty thoroughly entrenched in the Amazon ecosystem), but it won't be particularly useful in its current state, obviously.
I'd honestly consider buying another phone and keep this around for tinkering if the $199 price tag was still around, but the $229 isn't worth it in my book if Amazon ever gets around to releasing the 3.6.8 .bin file. I honestly don't see why they haven't released it unless they're considering dropping support for the phone entirely..

Amazon customer service sent me a replacement at no charge. I'm now returning the broken one. As far as the firmware is concerned they said 3.6.8 is not publicly available. If you hurry up you may be able to get your replacement before Christmas.

I am sorry, that is a typo. My "fire phone" decided to autocorrect "now" to "not".
"I am now returning the broken phone"
(also corrected in the original post!!)

I'm returning mine too since I can't register the phone. I called yesterday and it took 20 to 30 minutes to verify that the phone will not register. The phone will be delivered tomorrow.

can someone please re upload the 3.5 system image? the dropbox link is dead. thanks!

Does anyone have a 4.6.1 image they can upload?

ICS for users outside the USA

Hi everyone - just wondered if everyone in the neglected zones (i.e. everywhere Acer is refusing to release ICS for the A100) could re-double the pressure on their local Acer support to see if they will release ICS for "the common man"
I put in a request and this is what I got back (so helpful - not):
Response Via Email(Sunil Kumar BVL) - 19/07/2012 12.33 PM
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Acer UK.
We apologize for the delay in responding to your e-mail.
We understand your concern and regret the inconvenience caused to you.
There has been no further updates to when there will be further ICS FOTA updates, for A100 tablet.
For further assistance please do not hesitate to e-mail or contact us on 0871 760 1000 (UK), 0818 202 210 (Eire).

Acer UK Online Technical Support Team.So helpful, so informative, so understanding.
They really really want people to buy an alternative as soon as possible don't they?
Nexus 7, despite lack of MicroSD and HDMI, looks like the only answer dammit!

Or just install the official ics rom that zeronull released though the stock recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611696
Or install one of the hc versions that are known to ota to ics. The only thing stopping you from ota'ing to ics is the version of hc you are currently on.

I could not work out the process for installing the leaked ICS - it seemed as if a small pre-OTA download was required before the main ICS update could be installed. That is why I was rather hoping to just get stock ICS (for christs sake) - and of course I would then also be able to buy and watch Play store films.
I am joining a forum well down the track and looking over zillions of past posts to find the correct way to root and update the rom on this thing is tricky. I am not a complete noob having rooted and custom rom'ed my past 4 Android devices - phones and tablets, but all of them have had little details which if you got wrong could end up bricking them. Not keen to do that thanks.
Also, I guess I just get a bit peeved at how we get everything months late here in the UK - we are not exactly a techno backwater.
And I do think I am right to be peeved at the pathetic effort from Acer UK support (oxymoron)
Anyway - I finally got ICs last Thursday (26th July 2012). Now I am super peeved because it has screwed up Adobe Flash (useful here in the UK to watch BBC iPlayer and other BBC news videos. Looks like the root and custom ROM option is going to be the way to go after all.

If you're looking for help on rooting unlocking and flashing etc check the guide in my sig, it in turn has links for threads pertaining to each process. Really the only thing to do is READ. I'm not singling you out, but a lot skip over stuff and that's when mistakes happen.
The process is all scripted now. Simple as (once adb is up)
Run root script
Run boot loader unlock script
Delete or rename /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Install recovery
Boot into recovery, backup, flash as normal.
Overly simplified rundown, but accurate. All of my ROMs run checks for device ID but not all do, so I would suggest for safety to look only here for ROMs. That guide also links to some for the a100.
If you have questions or concerns ask before guessing and you'll do fine. That's if you choose to go this route, of course.
Tapatalked from my Galaxy S II.
Thanks everyone for your advice and help.
I am now very happy with Flex Reaper. Everything backed up using nandroid on CWM.
Everything runs sweetly and with the exception of Polaris Office (a shame - it looks as if it is better than QuickOffice). I looked to see if changing the build.prop model declaration would fix it (there are reports of this working for the A500) but all A100 ROM versions seem to state the model as simply being A100 and I am not keen on tinkering unless I know others have checked out the results in advance.
If anyone has a solution for this I would be interested.

Take a look at the build.prop linuxsociety is working on, it has the A500 model change as well as plenty of tweaks for performance. I haven't used it myself as I'm running my own variants of jellytime and/or CM10, but for ICS it will do perfectly. He's working on a jellybean version as well.

Root your RAZR M the manual way

Hello,
Today I received my new RAZR M with ICS, but sadly, the exploit of djrbliss didn't work on this device, so I searched for another exploit and stumbled upon one at "http://androidadvices.com/root-motorola-razr-4g-lte-firmware-tutorial/".
The only issue is, that the Linux shell script doesn't work, so you have to enter the commands yourself.
But it works for those devices, where djrbliss's exploit doesn't work. If someone is willing to rewrite it for GNU/Linux bash and correct all the errors, everyone would appreciate it.

Download not working, says its protected by the owner.
Thanks, fixed it and added new ones!
I would suggest updating your phone to jellybean first and then root. Or whatever you prefer. Strange though that you received your phone still on ICS.
I live in germany and bought it at an online shop called cyberport, so I guess they don't do any updates at all on the smartphones they have in their warehouse. Also, the box was still sealed. Nothing strange about it.

[Q] Installing new Netflix app with UK account on US AFTV

Hello
Anyone having trouble installing Netflix on a rooted US AFTV from an Amazon.co.uk account? It downloads just fine but then says "Install failed" without much more info.
I can install the Netflix app from the US store (using the geo restriction guide on aftvnews), but that is the old Netflix v1 client. The one on the UK store looks like the newer v3 client.
Anyone else having this issue? All other apps downloaded from the UK store work fine. Could just be launch day teething problems (I hope) and not some sort of restriction with the app.
I have the latest rooted 51.1.3.0_user_513011820 firmware by the way.
Cheers
exactly the same for myself, all apps install no problem but netflix fails
How annoying.
Stil not working today, so I suspect it's a firmware restriction so hopefully the US boxes will get the new firmware soon.
Can I confirm from anyone who has Netflix (with the white icon) from the UK store working if it's actually the new client or the old one? Screenshots show the new client, but the version number in the description says v1.0.1 which is the same as the US app - and it's 1/2 the file size on the UK store.

The very same issue for me.
I noticed in the logs, the following message comes up:
Code:
W/PackageParser( 6797): /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.amazon.venezia/files/apks/65165767-ffeb-4dc8-a422-fa4683554601.apk (at Binary XML file line #27): Requires newer sdk version #19 (current version is #17)
I guess the issue is that the firmware won't update to 51.1.4.0_user_514006420, which by the looks of it is required for the Netflix app.
I've been trying to find a way to install the new firmware manually, but no dice. Can't find a download link for the file and even if I could, I guess I'd have to be rooted (I'm not) to force it.
Ah, that'll be it. That's for pointing it out.
We'll just have to wait I guess for this firmware to roll out to other regions, which most likely it will. In any case, it's still not clear if it's the new client or not so actually there may be no advantage over the US app at this stage.

Is there any hope for Pixel XL - G-2PW2100 - Android 8.0 to be Bootloader Unlocked

Hello Gurus,
As the subject says, I made the mistake of a hasty ebay purchase for a black 128GB XL running Android 8.0 Build OPR3.170623.007. I was happy with the thought of making it my primary music machine by enabling the Apt-X HD codec and pairing with in-car Apt-HD receiver for car AUX speakers. Wanted to install ARISE Audio to be able to pump up the sound quality.
Found out that model no. G-2PW2100 is actual the Verizon/Project Fi model which is beyond any salvation attempts now.
However all of it turned out to be a pipe dream, when i started with the basics on rooting, to unlock the boot loader. Found out the OEM boot loader unlocking option in Developer settings is greyed out and it will not accept the ADB commands
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
or
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
anymore.
The command
Code:
adb shell getprop ro.boot.cid
returns
Code:

If it would have been 7.0.x then I could have tried dePixel8 , however that not a possibly anymore.
Having read all over the forum for various posts, can I conclude there is no solution as of now and it is an expensive paper weight for the time being, or is it any ray of hope move forward to.
Thanks for your answers.
Their is no solution as of now sunshine team don't have any plans to attempt an unlock for newer than 7.1

Thanks, you verified my worst fears. So money lost, time to write off this sunk cost from personal accounts.
Would keep a lookout for a workable unit now, till then will try to sell it off.
Thanks.
I mean, it's still a pixel. It'll get updates for awhileeeeeee.
taobao.com in China can help you unlock bootloader for a price.

You mean the bootloader for G-2PW2100 - 128GB - 8.0 can be unlocked. Has someone used this service. Do i have to send my mobile or the solution would be provided online.
Would be nice if you can PM with the link to the actual service.
On the other hand, I guess only taobao is the place where I can see Pixel XL 128 with Android version 7.1 sold, as they are not to be found on US/UK ebay.
A couple of queries I need to know to pin point the exact replacement I am looking for:
1. I assume the model should be either G-2PW2100 (either verizon or google) <= ROM 7.1 or a G-2PW2200 (any service provider) with any ROM version till 8.1.
2. Can a G-2PW2100 <= 7.1 once having a bootloader unlocked, be upgraded to 8.0 and above, and keep having the BL unlocked. If once after unlock, it is locked again either on the same ROM version or upgraded to higher ROM version, would it still be possible to unlock it again.
3. Any possible link or direction where an unlocked 128GB XL is available for purchase.
Thanks for your replies.

Well thanks, has anyone tried it to be really working for Verizon Pixel XL. Any success reports.
The website which opens from your URL has a clunky UX, I cannot select and get to know any service details, even with translation. If i select an option with 150Yuan, it takes me back to a webpage where no further journey to go.
Purchasing on Taobao anyways aint possible for me as the whole process and interface is in chinese, and I dont know if they accept international credit card.
Would like to know more information about it.
====================================
Got it, the URL is for the mobile version of the Taobao website, hence strange display on PC. Am trying to search it via PC.

Ok so what I am able to gather is these services are for XL running 7.1.x , and mine is already updated to 8.0 ,so cant say for sure it will work or not. For 7.1.x we dont need a paid service, it was already doable by DePixel8 if I am not wrong.
Thanks.

Thats my assumption as well, however trying to get in touch with TaoBao seller to see what miracle they offer.
Thanks.
I'm pretty sure that even if you downgrade to 7.1, the security patch level would render the dePixel exploit useless. As far as I know, you can't downgrade security patch levels.
Try selling it on Swappa and then buy a Google version off the site.
Please do keep us posted on the TaoBao mission because if it is possible to still do this I am very interested as well... I went on the site to that link and hit the translation on my Chrome browser via laptop and I couldn't make out everything it was informing of but I thought I saw something about it was illegal to ship or prohibited for the goods in my region... I live in the eastern shore of the US... what gives? I am not giving up so easily. I would sell the phone but I am my family's plan and i just pay them cash every month.. so I am sort of stuck with the phone atm myself as well..
Anyways... good luck to all who are still fishing around for an exploit.
Well, i called quits for the TaoBao mission, was a pipe dream anyways. I was able to sell it for a good price. So case closed for making any mistake like this again without reading enough around on the forum about which exact model to buy for my rooting/vipering adventures.
Have another query in mind , will post a new thread for it, while on the hunt for a Google branded set.

Should I have to pay for the Stock T520 kitkat rom?

Want to restore back to original rom, and have spent a good hour hunting, only to end up at either samobile who want to charge e15, or some other shady sites where y ou have to pay for access...
Is this just the way things are?
Anyone able to share this rom?
At https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-tab-pro/SM-T520/ I do not see anything telling me to pay.
If you actually select a rom, you see this below the file...

Which sort of contradicts the info on the previous page:
Here you find all the latest firmwares for the GALAXY Tab PRO SM-T520, if you want to flash your device with the newest Samsung software. Before downloading, make sure your device has the exact model code SM-T520. You can download the most recent GALAXY Tab PRO firmwares for free, or check out our cheap but fast download options.

I know the firmware is old, but its still the latest!
Did you log in. I registered long time ago at sammobile to be able to download. That worked for about 8 years without paying anything, but downloadspeed is anoying low.
Ok, I just logged in and saw , you have to pay. Free firmware downloads for members are only for recent firmware. Cause we're far from recent, we have to pay for the archive files. F...k you Samsung.
As I said in another thread some years ago, this tablet was my last Samsung device I bought, due to their superior support.
Here's a link for the German (DBT) and the Dutch (PHN) stock firmware. I think the dutch one was newer, although there's probably not much of a difference.
