Motorola! You have a serious Bluetooth issue with the Moto 360! Please fix! - Moto 360

If anyone has another Bluetooth device connected while using the moto 360, it causes the other Bluetooth device device to act very odd. My example was tested on 3 phones and 2 different cars and that while my phone is connected to the moto 360 and cars Bluetooth, the sound is all choppy and horrible from my phone. (not Bluetooth audio from my car) You can't even get directions from Google maps or Here because the moto 360 causes the volume from the phone to become all choppy. Even when the phone rings the volumes are choppy from the phone. Once I unpair my moto 360 everything is back to normal. Looks like others are having odd behavior as well when connecting Bluetooth speakers and using the moto 360 at the same time but I have not tested Bluetooth speakers.
Please help Motorola cause this watch is awesome

Maybe you shall email their support group to give the issue report. I plan to get moto hint.in furture but this issue may stop me.

That's a Bluetooth/Bluetooth Low Energy problem. I had the same issue ever since I started using a fitbit with my LG G2, which syncs via BT LE. The 360 compounded it. I recall someone suspected it had to do with the ble implementation in the android bt stack, but I don't recall the specifics

Using the 360, fitbit and uconnect car bluetooth all day yesterday with no issues.
Google play music streaming.
CBS streaming radio
On device music.
No issues.

Try doing that again but using Google now or Google maps and report back

Using LG G flex, Motorola DECK BT speaker and moto360 and wasn't having any audio issues either. Played music for hours at work.

Every morning I drive to work with my Nexus 5 connected to three devices and stream music without issue.
Audi BT for Phone
Griffin BlueTrip for BT Audio
Moto 360
On the way home, I stream MLB games (well, up until last week). I check traffic via Google Maps to see the fastest route and I never lose Audio.
In following these threads, there have been a few other things to keep an eye on:
The #1 culprit seems to be custom ROMS and Kernels.
Others have mentioned leaving wifi on. Android tries to connect to open wifi networks, even while driving, and that can cut out signal.

Not one issue with Bluetooth on my end,and I'm paired to my LG tone all day everyday.

S4, cm11, play audio through speakers w/o issue. Most likely an issue with phone/ROM/kernel/car system rather than the 360. I've had three different 360s so far (various RMAs) all work/worked fine with car Bluetooth audio.

No issues here with BT connectivity. I have M360 connected to my phone, and my phone connected to my car BT audio.
Stream music via Amazon Prime Music app, audio came out great
Navigate using Google maps and the direction was spoken via car audio clearly while M360 does prompt and vibrate for direction as well.

I have no issues. Nexus 5 connected to my Moto360 and factory head unit (2011 Camaro). I stream Pandora, Google Play, and have spoken notifications.

I had my 360 for 3 weeks every day I connect my HTC m8 to my car radio via blue tooth. At work I connect to Bluetooth headphones and listen to music for about 4 hours a day. I have not had a single issue like the one you describe.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium HD app

I have the issue, but not playing music. Mine is with phone calls. This is with the watch paired to a stock LG G3. The phone calls start out okay but a minute or two in it gets all garbled on both ends.

No problems here with my Sprint note 3. Actually navigated a few days ago with maps and it was fine

Can't Bluetooth-tether my tablet to my phone while the watch is connected. Also, if I walk out of Bluetooth range of my phone, the watch either doesn't reconnect when I come back in range, or takes a very long time to do so.

Same issue..
I do have the same type of issue with intermittent audio over bluetooth while in my car. It's find if my moto 360 is turned off, but when it turns on it causes issues. I had the problem on the old Moto X and the newest Moto X. I found other threads reporting the same issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-360/help/bluetooth-interference-t2894972

I connect to my cars bt to and from work every day and have not experienced any issues. I'm using a stock 2013 Moto X 4.4.4 no root/mods.

[Q] has anyone ever had this issue with Bluetooth ?

lately I've noticed that when I'm using my jambox my phone will pair fine but there's times that it doesn't register that I turn off my jambox so it'll stay "paired" to my jambox or at least show that it is and it takes a couple of minutes for it to return to normal. Any help will be great. Thanks guys
I'm having the same issue with Ford/Microsoft Sync on CM9 Alpha 2. When I turn the car off and back on bluetooth stops working because the phone shows that its still paired with my car. What ROM are you running.
I am sure the problem pertains to the phone bluetooth. If I drive everyday, it pairs fine with my car bluetooth. But whenever I skip a day to drive or don't drive for more than 48 hours, it would have problem pairing up. I then have to disable and re-enable the bluetooth on the phone in order for them to pair.
I have had no such problem with my previous phone.
Well thanks guys, I'm on blazer 4.1. I think it's actually my Jambox. As if it fails to communicate with my phone at times, like when I turn it off my phone still shows it's connected

I think our phones suck major donkey balls when it comes to BT. I've had many, many random, unexplained occurrences that deal with BT. What you have mentioned is one of them. The one that really ticks me off is where the music player will open even when the bluetooth device that I am using does not have music streaming capability.

Did you ever try to watch Netflix while paired to BT speakers? The sound lags 2 seconds behind the image...
When paired to my car (2012 Ford with Microsoft SYNC) the voice call volume is extremely low. Listening to music while using the phone's default player seems ok. It's not great, but I can live with it.
Compared to my old Blackberry 8350 which was working absolutely perfect on BT, the E4GT is just disappointing.

Bluetooth is somewhat broken.....

Connects to car automatically only with PHONE mode and have to connect MEDIA manually through settings every single time

I have to unpair and repair my Bluetooth headset every single time I use it. (phone audio only). Looks like Samsung really borked up BT.
Thinking about upgrading to MDL this weekend to see if that fixes it.
i dont know about bluetooth with car, but i listen to my bluetooth headphones every day at work for hours and i have had no probs whatsoever with my bluetooth. it paired really easy like too easy and that was it.
I guess thanks for the fact that at least it works manually so in my case its a 100% software issue.
I'm having no issues with phone or media when hooked up to my car.

I have the same problem with my Denon aftermarket head unit.
My Motorola BT headset pairs ok, but the quality of the audio is so bad to my callers I can't use it. On my S3 it sounded fine. I had to switch to a different headset that's giant and stupid.

2011 Hyundai Sonata
have a jabra headset and its paired excellently 100% of the time
Had minor issues (device based) when it was "paired" to 2 devices.
Use Bluetooth Auto Connect from play store. I was having the same problem except mine connected on to media instead of phone. That app fixed it right up.
Mine will drop connection intermittently to my VW RNS-315 head unit and also drop connection to my Jawbone Icon HD. When it drops the Jawbone I often see a message on the screen that says Bluetooth Sharing has crashed. Not sure if this is as a result of the rooting process or if it's a glitch in the latest firmware. Hoping Samsung will fix and T-Mo will release patch soon.
Have yet to have an issue here with my S4 and my JVC Arsenel (Dont remember which model #, was one of the higher single DIN units a year ago though), use it daily and it connects on its own without issue / hassel both phone and media
I experience the same phone only problem with my Ford Sync system, I have to manually check Media audio, but it pairs both the first tube after unpairing. I'll try the Play Store app and report back today. I will say is nice to see voice control over bluetooth has been fixed in Jelly Bean.
UPDATE: Bluetooth Auto Connect (The first one listed in a Play Store search by Jakub Klos) works flawlessly to connect Phone and Media audio. Thanks @Sym_Link!
No problems with bluetooth here, my Pioneer radio in my Grand Marquis, both audio and phone sync flawlessly. However, my Sony unit in the Saturn, will sync the phone no problem, but I still have to manually check the box to sync with audio.
My experience w/ BT audio has been variable. I have an aftermarket head unit installed on a '05 Acura RSX (JVC-NSX1 - http://www.crutchfield.com/ISEO-rgbtcspd/p_105NSX1/JVC-KW-NSX1.html).
Note: my headunit also utilizes MirrorLink...which is just flippin' awesome.
BT Media audio seems to be very app dependent. I use Grooveshark and Play Music for my day to day listening, and I find that my Grooveshark will auto-play when BT Connects but if I'm going from a fresh power cycle of my automobile to Google Play I have to start the app on my phone prior to accessing the in-dash controls on my head unit.
Other times I can just select in dash controls and it will play Play Music.
Ironically, since the iOS 6.0 update plugging in the GF's iPhone no longer plays audio (freaking Apple). So if she wants to stream media it's only available over BT. Ah, progress!

[Q] moto 360 and Bluetooth headphones at same time

Does anyone know if you can use the 360 and Bluetooth headphones at the same time. I use Bluetooth headphone connected to my nexus 5 all day

That's great to hear I'll be getting my 360 on the 17th
Works decently, but I've had the BT headset disconnect randomly with the 360 connected. Over a year and my BT headset never disconnected, it's a Bluebuds X. Also had some issues with no voice input into my mono BT headset with the 360 connected, almost like the BT voice input was rerouted somehow to the 360. Seems to be buggy .

I've had my plantronics voyager legend sound very digitized to the point it's unusable lately. I'm multipoint paired to my HTC one max and a blackberry q10. Haven't had this problem before the moto 360.
I had my Moto 360 connected to my phone and my wireless beats with no problems. Works great
I just go my 360 yesterday and was wondering the same as op. I literally use my phone in calls about 4 to 5 hours a day. I actually use a blue parrot xt plus and they can't be beat as far as call quality on both ends. Now for looks, that's a different story. Can you say "May I take your order" they look like a headset from a drive thru. Anyway thanks for all the comments.

Yes you can, also there are about two apps enabling volume on the market for your player.
Works well, but I've heard some people complain of battery drain on moto 360 when you have another BT device connected. I don't think I've encountered that problem though.
I guess it depends on what phone and BT you are using.
I have moto 360 with LG G3 and when I workout I pair it with Jabra sport to listen to play music. Music is slow, unresponsive at first, choppy and from time to time play music fc's. Could be play music, BT, G3 or M360 and BT both connected to G3.
Playing music just through phone works with just M360 and works ok with just BT connected to G3. Next time going to try it with Gnote 3 and see if that works any better.

Works just fine with my Bluetooth car stereo as well.

Bluetooth "interference"

I've been having a weird experience with my Moto 360. I listen to music from Spotify or Google Play Music in my car (Audi) over Bluetooth every day and have done for months with every phone I've had - Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and most recently, my OnePlus One. Everything has always worked flawlessly - audio quality is good, no disconnections and generally perfect.
Now my Moto 360 is connected to my phone as well, it seems to occasionally "interfere" with the Bluetooth audio stream periodically. It's more pronounced when I lift my wrist and turn the watch to activate the display, but sometimes happens without this going on too. The audio starts to skip and jump as though there's not enough bandwidth to both communicate with the watch and the car. It usually lasts around 10-15 seconds and is very frustrating. If I put the watch in airplane mode, the issue goes away, but it will restart when I take it out of airplane mode. I've had some success with disabling and re-enabling Bluetooth on the phone to force reconnections, although there is still occasionally some interference after this too. It doesn't always happen and is usually worse in the evenings than the mornings - almost feels like after the watch has been connected to the phone for a long time, there isn't room for anything else to use the connection.
Has anyone else experienced issues like this? I run nightly builds on my phone (which are otherwise absolutely flawless) and I've tried several different ones without any improvement. The 360 is on the latest OTA software update but had connectivity issues before that too. It's definitely the watch causing the issues as when it's nowhere nearby or is disconnected from the phone, there are no audio quality problems at all.

My plantronics legend is multipoint paired to my HTC one max and a blackberry. Since getting the 360 I have noticed a crackle in the audio. If I reboot my phone I can usually clear it up. Seems like interference isn't causing Bluetooth channel hops like it should.
I am having the exact same issue. Moto 360 connected to LG G2 (Verizon) running Cloudy G3 ROM and every time I play a song to any Bluetooth device it stutters for the first 10-15 seconds of the song, then plays fine until the next song. It resolved for a bit when I re flashed, but started again a few days later. Can't correlate it to any changes or installs. Totally stumped.
This is a huge problem! I can't even use Google maps in the car if I have my moto 360 and phone connected to Bluetooth at the same time. I could not use moto voice or Google now as well. Even when my phone rings in the car my speaker crackles.
All this is cured as soon as I leave the car. It's obviously a big Bluetooth issue and moto needs to know about this! This thread should be pinned!
I am having the same issues with my Moto 360 and OnePlus One. It is very annoying and I'm seriously considering returning the Moto 360 now!
It's every phone that does this not just the OnePlus one. Also in my moto x. It's clearly linked to the moto 360 and it's Bluetooth issue.
Yes, that looks like the case and so I'm returning the Moto 360 before the 30 day return window expires!
I was experiencing this issue as well in my Q5. But after experimenting, I don't think it's actually interference with the Bluetooth radios. The issue only seems to happen when my phone is asleep and when it is happening, all I have to do is wake up the phone and it stops. I wonder if maybe the governor is causing the CPU to sleep too quickly after the kernel gets a wakelock from the Bluetooth stack. Oddly enough, the issue hasn't happened since I updated to KGW42R on the watch.
If you're still experiencing the issue, maybe try changing your CPU governor to performance (if supported by your kernel/ROM) just to see if you get any improvement.
Yep, experiencing this as well with my HTC M8 + Moto 360 on my Volvo.
I had intermittent stuttering issues with the M8 in the past, but now I could never get a flawless playback whenever I have the Moto 360 connected. Big problem..any solutions yet anyone?
Motorola probably has no idea about this problem. Can/does anyone know how to make them aware of this horrible bug?

I just contacted them about it in Live Chat and the person was completely dumbfounded, then cut me off. Going to try to call them tonight. Oddly, I didn't have the issue with My Nexus 4, but it did surface with my new Moto X, which was around the time of the most recent update to the 360.
I have the moto x and the OnePlus one and this darn issue happens on both phones. So frustrating!
Bad audio issues
I have the same issue with my new Moto X, Moto 360 while using my car audio. I do have a fitbit as well so that means three bluetooth devices while trying to stream audio. Even music that is downloaded on my phone has the same issues.
I have the exact same issue with my Moto X 2014! Extremely frustrating.
Solution..connect your phone via 3.5mm jack (wire/cable) to your vehicle audio, to free up the frequency/frequencies..

"Praise Jah" YOU people.!
Yeah, unfortunately that's not a solution at all. My car doesn't have a 3.5mm input for me to use and besides, the whole point of Bluetooth audio is not to have any wires.
I agree that the issue seems to be present on either downloaded or streamed music. Sometimes disabling and re-enabling Bluetooth on the phone will help, sometimes it won't. Often I won't have any trouble when driving to work in the morning but will have constant interruptions going home in the evening. Sometimes it's the other way round. There isn't really a consistent pattern.
I tried to call Motorola support yesterday but they were closed.
I didn't have any problem with bluetooth at first, but now my car audio skips at random times and then goes back to normal. Feels like the '90s all over again. Additionally, sometimes my calls through the car will sound like I am underwater. I disabled the HTC bluetooth low energy profiles on my phone in hopes this will resolve it. Will test and report back later. Hopefully it won't have any impact on my phone's battery life.
Newest version of Android Wear came to my Moto 360 yesterday, and I was in high hopes that it would resolve this issue, at least to some degree. With the bluetooth updates it seemed like they made some serious changes, but the issue has gotten even worse. I can barely get any audio now, the skips are no longer short, and are now just 1-2 seconds of silence. I reported this issue numerous times to Motorola, and they refuse to respond to me. This is a huge letdown, and had I not passed my 30 days, I would return the device.
Official response from Motorola forums.

"We've spent some time looking at this. The team feels it's a matter of overloading the BT capacity of the phone. There is simply a limit to the traffic it can handle, and the extra link is slowing it down. Not a very satisfactory answer, but this seems to me a case where the simplest explanation is probably the right one."
Anyone know if the new Bluetooth LE changes in Android 5.0 would possibly improve this?

Oh my god.
It's exactly the same issue I have!
I turn on my 360 in the morning and connect to my alpine car audio, 90% of the time no problems.
I leave the office at 5pm, the watch has been connected the whole day, I notice lags in audio playback like whenever a new song begins for the first 5-10 seconds.
When my 360 stays on over night I get this issue in the morning too.
Putting the 360 in airplane mode solves it - but turning airplane mode off brings the problem back.
Restarting car audio, moto 360 and oneplus one while driving is a pain but works...
I also noticed that the lags occur more often when I turn my wrist (just like you said).
When navigating to the settings menu on the 360 while playing music it totally messes up the sound until I turn the display off again.
My setup:
Alpine CDE-178BT
Moto 360 4.4W2
OnePlus One 4.4.4 (Update 38R) Stock Kernel / Franco Kernel - same **** on both kernels
A bit of google told me that the problem can occur with every bluetooth LE device (like fitbit wristbands)
I hope this will be fixed but don't really know what the problem is... Bluetooth stack in ROM? Moto 360?

Issues with bluetooth in car

Hello,
I recently got the P2. Awesome phone, even better battery.
I only have one issue with it. I always listen to music in my car with my phone, but for some reason it always has problems with bluetooth syncing.
When I get in the car, I check the settings and it looks like the phone is paired, but only the phone part (to make calls), but not multimedia. Music will still be playing on my phone speakers. I have to manually try and pair it 2-3 times for it to connect.
My previous phones were the Nexus 6 and Nexus 5X and they would not have problems pairing, they would usually pair within 5 sec of getting into the car and the music would transfer to my car speakers.
Does anybody else have this problem? I'm running the latest standard lenovo ROM, 7.0.
