Hi im running root66 stock T999LUV 4.3 it rooted but im unable to control the cpu with cpu apps the problem is that the cpu's ate running at max all the time and I can't change the governor or the frequency of the device how do I fix this.

Ok never mind I was able to fix by editing the cpu frequency xml files min/max one was incorrect.

Hello there,
I've been flashing kernels since I was in LeeDroid Froyo and got no problems. However since I switched to GB based roms such as RCMix3D and TB Fusion, my phone always freezes when I try setting Kernel-Lee-V3.1.1-2.6.35.13-CALLREC or MDJs v19 to maximum overclock so I have no choice to but to stay on stock kernel. I have no ext3/ext4 partition on my SD card in case you ask.
Current ROM: TB Fusion 1.1.2
Radio: 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2
Any idea what should I do to solve this issue?

uoooo this is sooo dangerous for your handset... u can "smoke" it...

yes, your handset freezes because the overclock that u do its too high... underclock it at 1200-1400mhz & try...
and configure SET CPU features... like the standby status, etc....but do it with common sense....
think about that DHD proccessor goes by default at 1gz, really when we overclock the processor we are putting in danger the security of our device

Haha! I know that overclocking is quite dangerous. Back on the froyo days, my phone is quite stable around 1.8ghz so I'm just wondering why is this happening (maybe my phone's processor is starting to fry up? ). Is there any effect if I'm using smartass profile on those kernels I've mentioned?

i hope that the processor works or not works (don´t crashes a little bit...)
but the reason of your freezes maybe (almost sure) because froyo & gingerbread don´t works at the same form, and gingerbread need more resources & stability for to work correct... don´t forget that the kernel manages the hardware...
if u force it......... u know what can happen...

You have mentioned about those "resources", is there any special measure that I need to do or what? I'm using the smartass profile on those kernels but still *sigh*
Anyway, I've observed on your sig that yours is overclocked @ 1.8ghz even though you're running GB, me envy

you only should do a good over/underclock & set the correct cpu governor for your daily use....
well, you know ho is @MDeeJaay? the developer of MDJ kernels and roms...
he explained smartass with this words:
SMARTASS GOVERNOR - is based on the concept of the interactive governor.
I have always agreed that in theory the way interactive works - by taking over the idle loop - is very attractive. I have never managed to tweak it so it would behave decently in real life. Smartass is a complete rewrite of the code plus more. I think its a success. Performance is on par with the "old" minmax and I think smartass is a bit more responsive. Battery life is hard to quantify precisely but it does spend much more time at the lower frequencies.
Smartass will also cap the max frequency when sleeping to 245Mhz (or if your min frequency is higher than 245 - why?! - it will cap it to your min frequency). Lets take for example the 998/245 kernel, it will sleep at 245.

MIN SPEED:245 MHZ
PROFILE: screen off; 245 MHZ max.

Sorry if this has been posted before but I can't find an answer to this question
I am currently running AOKP and trinity kernel, 1344mhz (cpu) and 499mhz (gpu). After installing the kernel, I manually went into ROM control, and increased the CPU to 1344mhz - set on boot. That was the CPU overclocked
However, I can't figure out how to overclock the GPU? I have run a benchmark, and it seems to still be at stock, and not 499mhz - how do I set it to the 499mhz that the kernel allows?

There is a command that you can run from terminal on your phone but I can't think of it right now. Also, a bit of searching seems that there is an app. I haven't tested to see if it works, but it says it OCs the CPU AND GPU. Look for Overclocking(GPU + CPU) in google.

That one apparently doesn't work.. have also tried Antutu CPU Master pro but it doesn't support GPU overclocking on the Galaxy Nexus...
Afaik, gpu oc is only available, if built-in the kernel. Userland controlled gpu oc must be supported by the kernel first, thats probably why antutu pro master or any other app still can't do it.

Hi. I have a rooted HTC One X international version with the quad core processor supposedly. 1.5ghz but when i checked quick system info it says my cpu clock is only running at 1.4ghz. I have set cpu installed and i have ensured that ive set the min and max to 1.5ghz but still it remains at 1.4ghz. I dont know if it was like this before i rooted my device or before i installed setcpu, or if this is just the way its supposed to be. Please advice.
If ever this is unusual, could someone tell me how to fix it? Should i reflash the kernel or bootloader?

i tried it and the cpu range shows as 51 to 1500 no probs.
try cpu spy, then run a bench mark service, then go back to cpu spy and check if it reached 1500ghz
Oh, sorry if I got misunderstood. Setting the range is NOT the problem. I can set it just fine, and the profiles work well too. It's just that if I set the min and max to 1500mhz, the ACTUAL cpu clock (the large number on top of the min and max sliders) remains at 1400. When I lower/change the min max, the frequency lowers/changes accordingly. But, as I mentioned, the max ACTUAL cpu frequency remains at 1400mhz even though the sliders are already set to 1500mhz.
So, I want to know if that's normal. I read from somewhere that the maximum frequency for multi-core is 1400mhz and the maximum frequency for single core is 1500mhz. But I'm not sure though so I want to verify that information.

Did anybody noticed the following bugs and behavior in stock kernel CPU controls ? If not, can you please post your ROM/build/kernel versions or even firmware version? Maybe some firmwares are fixed?
- Setting max CPU frequency actually change kernel internal min CPU frequency! eg if I set 1GHz max frequency, all cores jump to 1GHz minimum! Setting min CPU frequency seems to have no effect. Only a reboot can recover from this, sadly.
- Setting governor to interactive_eglinteractive freezes the phone which then reboots after a while.
- There doesn't seem to be any mpdecision module running, so all cores are always online, except maybe second CPU cores are turned-off in standby.
On the positive side, it appears that controlling online states of individual cores works well, good to turn off cores when screen's off for example.
I'm running latest received OTA: Android 4.3, kernel 3.4.39-2641344, build version JSS15J.N7505POUBND2.
Most of the features you are talking will not work correctly without a custom OC kernel....So let it be like it is untill we get a custom kernel....

I deleted the red lines in the thermal config too but now i just want to set my cpu min to 300, i juste want to modify the cpu freq in the kernel

In No-frills Cpu set Governor to powersave and also go to nofrills cpu settings and check prevent changes from other apps.
However it may cause unexpected behaviour like hangs and slow down so better stay bit above of 300Mhz.

I tried but the cpu freq is not changing in the scaling_min freq, cpu is min is always scaling on 900, thanks for reply

Delete the thermal engine file. Then go to /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/
There you'll see two files at the bottom ~ scaling_max_freq and scaling_min_freq
Change the values in them. See if it works.
EDIT: Seems like you already tried it.

Check apply on boot in no frills cpu. However it wont always stay on 300 bcoz its based on performance. if you want it to stay near to 300 always then reduce max freq. If it still doesnt work and you are on miui then change your rom...Try using mokee rom.
