Need help with Samsung rebate - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The rules of the Samsung rebate say that it requires a copy of the pre-order receipt as well as a copy of the trade-in receipt. The Verizon location that I went to did not give me a receipt showing that XXX device was traded in. The receipt that the Verizon local store provides just shows a store credit for X amount of dollars in the form of a gift card being credited to your account. After getting home I called the Verizon store back and two different reps including the manager told me that this is how they print receipts for trade-in transactions and that is the only receipt that they can possibly give me.
With all this being said I don't see how I can possibly get approved for my rebate from Samsung when the only receipt from them that they tell me that I can possibly get only shows a gift card amount that could've come from anywhere, the rep did tell me that if Sam somewhere to call and provide the information on the receipt they could pull up a file showing that A trade-in was done I just don't think Samsung will go through all that hassle. any feedback on the situation would be appreciated

I printed out the trade in receipt at the time I did it online, it lists the device, trade in amount, and your trade in confirmation #. I assume I will also get an email once the trade in is approved and accepted, I will just submit both.

When you do it in the store unfortunately you don't get any of that stuff. Literally all they handed me was a receipt that showed that a $200 gift card balance was applied towards my account that $200 was my trade-in value
Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk

Can't you just apply the $200 gift card, that you said Verizon gave you, to the purchase of the Note 4?
I don't understand. You got $200 from Verizon, you're not going to get $200 from Samsung too.

The 200 I got from them was based in the value of my phone , had nothing to do with the note 4 . The value of my phone would have remained the same regardless of whatever I purchased. The Samsung promotion was the only reason I even choose a Samsung product if that is the case I will just take it all back and use the 14 day policy and get everything back
The guy at Verizon said it was a $200 rebate. Regardless of what was traded in.

Samsung only gives you the difference of your trade in to equal $200. So if your phone was worth $200 you aren't getting anything from samsung.
If your phone was worth $14 dollars like my trade in was then samsung is giving me $186 to make the total trade in equal $200.
edit: Good luck getting your phone you traded in back if thats the plan you are going with.

Better?
Just figured somebody like me may have been waiting for the price to drop a bit.
That's what I'm gonna pay for it at bb
remember Wirefly adds a second agreement... if you ok with that, $150 sounds great! Myself, I went with Costco online $175 after $25 mail-rebate, no extra agreements and90 day return policy.

So when we purchase the phone at Bestbuy they give us a $50 gift card on top of the phone freedom gift card? I can't find anything on Bestbuy's website that says that. Already signed up for the phone freedom promotion. Would love 50 more dollars.
Think I'm going to jump on this deal.
I was trying to hold out for a 32gb phone over the 16 but I just got a 64 gb SD card as well. Considering at this point it would cost another $100 to get the extra 16 gb, it just doesn't make much sense to wait, IMO.
Also, I can find nothing strange about the Wirefly agreement other than you have 14 days to return it to them if you don't like it as opposed to taking it back to a Sprint store.
What says yous?

I don't see it on the website either, but it is the same promotion they've been offering on the Evo LTE. This is what they offered me in-store. Not sure about online sales.
When ahead and got this deal. I should get $50 cash back from my bank as well.
That puts me at $100 for the device. It's a blue 16GB version. But for $150 less than a white 32GB version, I can live with it.
Even at $50 difference between the 16 and 32 it's just not worth it when you consider I just got a brand new SanDisk 64GB card for $50.
Their web site says they are shipping tomorrow, but I highly doubt that.
safe?
is wireflyfriends.com safe? I know of wirefly.com/autocontent.aspx?pageid=3586&referringdomain=wiredneirf, but the first one seems fishy. When you go to the checkout page, the site isn't secured, while the second one is. Sorry if I seem a bit paranoid.
I'm more concerned about this 'second agreement'.
can someone shed some light on that? Does it tack another agreement after this one or something?

I think you are talking about the fact that the phone needs to be connected on the same line for at least 6 months:
"By accepting the ISD, you agree to keep your account in good standing and keep your wireless plan and features as activated for at least 180 days.
You agree to repay $200 of this discount ($400 for smartphones, tablets, and netbooks) and authorize us to charge your credit card in repayment of this amount if, you signed up for a 2 year agreement and during the 181 days after your new equipment is activated, your carrier notifies us that the services you purchased have been suspended, disconnected, or deactivated, or if you return your purchase outside of the return and exchange provisions of our 14-day Satisfaction Guarantee.
Please note some of the reasons your carrier may notify us of a deactivation include if:
You transfer this equipment to another line of service after it is activated
You change your rate plan to a lower monthly service rate than was specifically required at the point of purchase
You deactivate texting/data features that were specifically required at the point of purchase
The new line of service activated with your order is used to replace a pre-existing account"
if only i had an upgrade :/

Best buy buyback.

I got a ego 4g lte with best buy and had the buy back program applied to it when I upgraded when it was released. I know I would have to buy the note outright but if I traded in the evo does anyone know an estimate of what I would have to pay out of pocket?
Thanks in advance!

Not as much as you think.
If you are patient, root your phone, install a good rom on it and post it on eBay. You'll get a ton more from people who don't know how to follow directions and root themselves on that device.
When I bought my Evo3d (when it was released) I had a brand new Evo that I was trading in. Actually just opened the box and turned the phone on once. I walked in and they told me that the phone was in horrible shape and that in it's condition I would get 55$ in trade in. I lol'd and walked out. Skinned it and sold it on eBay the next day to some guy in the Midwest for a lot more than that.
It all depends if you actually are using the "Buy Back" program that was started around 2 years ago or the "Trade-In" program that took it's place not too long ago (there's some lawsuit that Best Buy is losing about the Buy Back program so they had to change their process). The Buy Back program is worth more than the Trade-In program.
Example: When you do the Buy Back program, the value of the full retail of the phone is used. There is a tier of value that dwindles after a certain time (prorate). I had an Inspire 4G with the Buy Back program and got $120 for it on a gift card.
They also told me the value of the phone if I were to use their Trade-In program which would have been $55.
If it is indeed the Buy Back program, after 1 1/2 years or something like that, you should get around 20% of the original retail value (even if you got the phone free with a two-year contract). For the Inspire 4G, it was somewhere around $599 (free on 2 year contract). I got $119 for it on the program. If you've had the phone for a shorter amount of time, the value goes up (something like if you had turned it in between buying and 3 months, 100%, 6 months =60%, 1 year = 40% etc. not exact numbers but you get the picture).
Your best bet is to go there, tell them the program you purchased (trade-in or buy back... and if you have the original receipt, all good but if you don't they can look it up... Make sure they select the correct program because if you did in fact get the "Buy Back" program, the value is higher), then find out how much you can get back on the gift card. Also, they run programs like if you do upgrade/buy and new phone, they give you an extra 25% that goes towards the new phone... and check their Reward Zone specials on upgrading your phone because that can get you major points as well
Check their calculator http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Misc/Buy-Back-Program/pcmcat230000050010.c?id=pcmcat230000050010

eBay and Craigslist is your friend. May be difficult to prove a clean ESN vs selling a GSM phone but it's worth more then $50.

I would have given you $100 for it and then you could have gone to bb and done price matching and if price went down again you could go back and get even more money back from bb. I will never buy directly from sprint again. Plus insurance with sprint is $11 a month with sprint plus a $200 deductible. It only cost me $7.50 a month with no deductible plus a loaner phone if I need it. Buy back for most companies is a joke. I'm thinking of advertising on cl that I will beat any local buy back by 30% and then turn around and sell phone for a profit.

I just got the same email... Here's what crazy. I really didnt need to send in my old Droid RAZR M apparently.
I pre-ordered online and submitted for a trade in online using verizon's system. Since Verizon was taking forever to send me something saying, "We got your phone, Here's you $15 trade in", I sent in my Samsung rebate using the print out from the Verizon Trade in site saying my trade in amount would be $15. Of course, that's just a page that verifies that you created a trade in request. It doesnt mean you actually sent the phone in.
Oh well, just glad they approved the Samsung rebate. Im guessing they got so many of these and there was no real standard format, so they didnt have time to do normal rebate shennanigans and deny people for random reasons.

Hahahaha, no surprise. These prizelogic people are idiots. I honestly can't believe Samsung is still partnering with them. Let me explain.
They had a promotion for the Note 3. Register your device and get a free $50 Google Play credit. This was suppose to be a 3 month promotion. The online form was name, email, phone number, maybe address, and IMEI. They didn't text you a verification code. If was as simple as if you entered in a valid IMEI, they emailed you a $50 code. So take your IMEI and changing one number could net you another $50 if you have a second email address. Or you could jump on email, search Note 3, and find someone with a picture of their IMEI. You see where this is going. I think they had 30,000 codes, and ALL were gone within 36 hours. Ebay was flooded with people selling them at $30-40 a pop. I think someone found one ebay account where the guy had sold over a hundred. Anyway, so yeah, these same people who horribly ruined that entire promotion are the ones running this one.
I too got the email saying I was approved. I bought a brand new POS phone at Best Buy for $30, got $10 for a trade in value, and that will net me a $190 check. So basically $180 off a new phone. Nice!
I used an old BB Bold or Torch, got 12 bucks for it, so expecting 188 back.
Got my confirmation email 2 days ago. Yay
Trade in $20
Rebate check $180
Note 4 purchase price $299.99
299.99 - 200 = 199.99 Note 4 final purchase price

T-Mobile Double Your Data Free Memorial Day Sale

So for those of us that just picked up the S6 (Edge or not) T-Mobile is doing a promotion this weekend. They are offering the 64gb version for the same price as the 32gb. I just picked up the 64gb Edge yesterday and figured I would call in and see what they could do for me. Turns out they gave me an $80 bill credit. So if you just picked up your phone give them a call and see if they could help you out! It's a great deal.
Any deal on the 128gb version?
I didn't see anything for the 128gb unfortunately - here's what I saw.

Probably not much they can do for you. There's no discount on the 32gb versions.
If you get to the customer loyalty department or retail support, they could help you out though.
Did any of y'all goto their website? 128gb for 64gb price.
128 for 64 GB price and 64 for 32 GB price. Anyone got their tracking numbers just yet?
I bought mine a month ago, when I found out they lowered the price for the weekend I called T-Mobile, talked to customer service, I got transferred to customer loyalty department and they said there is noting they can do about it, one of them told me to trade my 128 gb edge for credit and buy another one at the discounted price.. lol... some logic there.
So I went to their facebook page and complained last night.
I got a reply this morning from their T-Force team to msg them on facebook with more details.
After 5 mins I got the reply I needed.
""You're most welcome, Michael. I'm glad you got the S6 Edge. It's a great device. The $100 plus tax credit has been applied, and you'll see that credit impacting your current balance due by dialing #225# and send on your device any time. *JB""
So I checked my balance and sure enough, it was 108 dollars lower.
Then about 30 minutes later I get the text msg
Don't take this the wrong way - but what did you complain about? When you bought the phone a month ago you were content with the price. You were not in your buyers remorse period like some of us were when we talked to the customer service dept. Complaining on a public venue about T-Mobile not giving you money for something you bought over a month ago is kind of ridiculous.
my complain was I had another 128gb I bought from costco, i tried to unlock it and I was told they cant because even though I bought from a tmobile kiosk in costco, it was not a tmobile phone, so I sold it and lost money in the process, bought another one then a few days later they offer it for 100 less? I dont think so.
As far as the 100 dollars, really? you would if you could, so please, don't give me that, and tmobile didnt think it was ridiculous, thats why they gave me the credit.
Its like buying a 75k bmw form the dealer and a month later they drop the price 10k for a weekend, you wont care? give me a break...
Anyways, even if you are out of your buyers remorse period, make some noise and your money back, unless you are mr money bags ^^ and you dont care

Personally, I don't find it ridiculous at all. Everyone wants to try and save some money here and there. Most retailers today have price protection policies for when an item you purchased goes on sale at a later time. My mom always told me that the key to financial management was always trying to find a deal so that the extra money you save could stay in the bank to earn interest. Then again, she also said, "If you don't have anything nice to say"....

Yeah, a few days maybe. Very few companies will do this a month after purchase. Why bother having a sale if they all honored sale prices to anyone who asks over a month after the original purchase? Asking about it is fine - and I understand that completely. Posting complaints about the company for everyone to see on social media because you were told no but feel entitled to the price difference is something else all together.

**LOOPHOLE** we come out on top with this scenario INSTALLMENT PLANS ONLY

As y'all may or may not know I tried to turn my verizon note 7 couple days ago but they did not accept it and said I will get a box and after i send and they receive it then they will credit me the tax, activation fee . I was peeved as i had to pay a new tax on my 7 plus 256 which is not cheap $106 plus activation fee however they said call Customer care and they will reimburse and waive off the activation fee so that is pretty fair..
Now here comes the good part..
When my new phone arrived my installments for the note 7 is gone no trace of it on my account. i searched everywhere via my verizon.. my new installments already began with the i7plus. So now I'm supposedly waiting for this box to arrive so i can put the note 7 and get my tax and activation waived.. well F THAT ..i called Verizon and they waived my activation already for the i7plus. AND for all this trouble I am deciding on keeping this device for as long as i want.. this is a $900 device what's paying the tax of $100 going to do? I say its well worth keeping for $100 . I am beyond angry with the way this process is being handled.. why not automatically waive the tax for my new Upgrade device ?that's what peeved me the most and made me rebel.. so here i am using an i7plus and on forever Wi-Fi on my $100 note 7 .. BEST OF BOTH WORLDS .. i use my i7plus for messaging and note 7 for my entertainment ..
How i feel
or, instead of keeping the note 7, request a return with Samsung directly. They are accepting returns from people that bought it used from craigslist or ebay. Once they receive it they will cut you a check for the carriers' retail value. I'd rather have $850+tax in cash.

Tried that. They will not do that.

Are you calling the right Samsung dept? You need to get in touch with their Colorado call center. There is a phone number listed in one of the reddit posts.
They are sending me the special box so I can ship them my note 7. Upon receipt they will cut me a check for $850, or the tmobile retail value.

Never heard of that, was calling the number lighted out on my phone.
But thanks, that's good info (although I don't need it anymore).

If that's actually true and Samsung is actually willing to buy back devices that can't or won't be returned to carriers directly then anyone attempting to sell a Note 7 would be a fool not to take advantage of it.
With the actual recall now official and legally in place, anyone attempting to sell a Note 7 in the US could face Federal charges if they're caught doing it and you can be absolutely certain there are law enforcement people of setting up stings on craigslist in major cities already in progress. eBay is actively yanking any Note 7 listings of most any kind automagically, and Swappa won't list a Note 7 at all either so, craigslist and local sales boards/services will be the only realistic option for some folk that just don't have a clue.
Hell, I kinda wish I had a Note 7 right now to sell back to Samsung myself.

Can i get a truth confirmation from this ? That is way better than my plan .. HOWEVER when they see the IMEI then it's gameover your carrier will find out
At this point it doesn't matter, it could be a lost device, or even one that's been reported as stolen or wherever it's purchased from, second-handed or not - the point here once again is they have to get these phones out of the public's hands and that's that, any way they can and if that means buying them back directly from consumers that's what they're going to do.

I'm confused...
I'm on an installment plan with Verizon. You're saying if I deal with Samsung directly, lie and say I got my phone on ebay, and send them the phone directly, they'll give me $850 + tax? That doesn't make sense.
Can't Samsung just check the IMEI to see that the phone hasn't already been paid for in full?

Even if they do, you get the $850 + tax from Samsung direct and you'd be expected to use that money to repay Verizon because they bought it from Samsung - either way Samsung loses, Verizon gets their money back, and so do you - unless of course you turn into a cheap scumbucket, take the money from Samsung and give Verizon the finger and don't honor what you're supposed to actually do in that situation which I'm sure a lot of folks are considering already as a quick way to make some fast cash off Samsung's troubles.
This is assuming that you can get Samsung to actually make you that offer, of course, so call them at that number in the Reddit thread and ask for the Note 7 office in Colorado and see what happens.
Samsung asked for IMEI, but as a verification of the phone itself. There is no way they can see into your plan status with Verizon.

If I was gonna pay off Verizon anyway - it makes more sense to deal with them. Verizon is already offering a full refund of what I have paid so far (Probably somewhere around $60 with installment plan). But, my understanding of what was written in the OP is that Verizon just decided to forget about all of the installment plans for the Note 7, while leaving the phone in our hands. Verizon is putting a lot of faith in its customers to leave it up to us to mail the Note 7 in this fireproof box.
SO, you can either keep a free Note 7, or monetize it by sending it direct to Samsung and getting cash. Either way, your being a "scumbucket" haha.

That's crazy! I might do this, wow. I can't believe Verizon would just delete all of the installment plans like that. This loophole is gonna cost Verizon thousands, if not millions of dollars...

OK....
SOOOOOOOOOOO
I just logged into my account on Verizon. My bill cycle ends every month on the 12th so it was updated very recently.
The Galaxy Note 7 installment plan has disappeared from my Verizon bill. Poof. Gone.
In the August - September bill cycle, the charges on my line totalled $56.
This includes the $20 standard for Verizon line access, and $36 for the device payment. It also clearly states that there is $828 left to be paid off.
In the September - October bill cycle, the charges on my line were reduced to a total of $20.
I am ONLY paying Verizon for line access. The device payment is gone entirely.
I remain skeptical - but it's possible everyone with a Note 7 on Verizon just got it for free.
THE Verizon Note 7 was not free. You aren't currently paying for it, and you will be refunded everything you have paid. You can also keep it for as long as you want. However, if you upgrade to a new phone at sometime with Verizon, a fire proof box will be automatically sent to your address. If you do not send in your Note 7 at that time, you will be charged the full retail price.
I wonder what would happen if you just switched carriers...
I'm making my return with Samsung itself and taking the $850 plus tax to the bank.. we need to be compensated for Our time and effort to make this switch.. paying for tax and activation fee ? Come on just waive it since it is on file that you paid the tax and pay the difference or bill credit of your new device.. those that had version 1 and 2 should be more annoyed by This... $25 for the time you waste going in and out of Verizon stores and waiting on the phone for a phone rep certainly adds up ... I'm going with Samsungs return and getting the $850 plus tax.. I'm already on a new installment plan with the ip7 plus .. Verizon just told me that if I don't return the device then I don't get my tax and activation fee from the note 7 which is around $120 ...
Can someone actually confirm that they will give you a check once returned ? I can see this backfiring and them getting the device and me not getting my $850
THOSE ON THE INSTALLMENT PLANS SAYING YOU WILL BE CHARGED FULL IS FALSE... you just won't get you tax and activation back..
This is uncalled for.. look how long i have been waiting.. I know have extra evidence of an attempt to exchange on file... hands are cleaner now
is a potential court case for fraud really worth keeping a phone that might meltdown in your closet where it is stored because your never gonna use it?

You don't even need to say that.. i got off the phone with them .. they check your IMEI and no matter what ; you get the full value of the phone and anything extra on it just include it in a receipt when shipping.. box comes in in 3 days and the check will come in 10-14 days.. pretty smooth transaction..
