question about charger - General Accessories

hi, i saw this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/5V-2A-Trave...l_Phone_PDA_Chargers&var=&hash=item4d20bf0469
is it good as the original charger?
i wanna be sure its ok and won't make damage to phone's battery or something..
thanks!

Seems this one is an OEM charger. Not original but still good.
Suggest to buy the original one to add $10 rather than brick your $400 handset

While I agree with the other reply that the charger you're speaking of will probably work, I also agree that it's probably better to spare yourself a potential headache and spend the extra few dollars by getting a new original SAMSUNG charger. The reason I say this is because I've learned first-hand about the problems that can arise from buying 'economy' or generic replacement items for basically anything electronic and so I don't go the cheapest route anymore, especially when it comes to computers and smartphones

desktop charger

hi everyone...
just wanna know is there any desktop charger for o2 xda exec?
If you have a look at the O2 micro site, they sell a decent desktop charger, probably quite expensive though, or of course, have a hunt on eBay.... personally I'd stick with O2.
Link to O2 micro site.... http://www.my-xda.com/xdaExecAcc.html
eBay (just example).... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CRADLE-O2-XDA...104937525QQcategoryZ56166QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Hope it helps.
Also, might interest you, I just ordered a simple battery charger off a guy on eBay, only for the battery so if you got spares you can charge them separately. The guy's called lifestyle0806, has been selling for over 2 years and has 96.6% positive. I was recommended him by a guy on this site. Should receive the item today, will let you know if it's any good if you're interested.

I am using this charger from lifestyle for the last 2 months. It is definately worth the money. Even the battery which comes with it is of good quality and does not have any of the problems some spare batteries seem to have.

I couldn't believe how cheap it was... I paid $18 for the battery AND charger with postage included!!! That's just crazy! Well worth it, I would say to anyone who travels a lot and has a spare few batteries they need charged up.

Is it an external charger like this one (which you have to plugin to normal mini-USB charger or computer USB port to get the power)?
Maybe I got a bad unit because it just won't charge the battery - battery is ok though =) However, on the back it reads "INPUT 5V = 2A", but normal USB chargers only output 5V and 1A... So a working unit should be fine with 1A?
I got pretty much the same unit with extended battery from the other guy on ebay.. digispeak ...
Battery seems to be of the decent quality, still testing how long it will last after few charging cycles..
However, I'm not quite as happy with desktop charger. It seems to cut off charging when battery reaches about 90%. Any clues and experiences?

OEM Samsung Cable???

Anyone know where I can find the OEM usb cable that comes with our phones? I can find various OEM Samsung cables but not the ones that are exactly the same as ours...
OEM cable is ****
i dont mean to be a d***k bout your post but was it really that usefull? regardless if its **** or not, thats what im looking for and im asking where i can find it because ive looked through ebay, amazon etc and no go...
Hard to say where you can find that OEM cable. Have you tired Samsung Cellular Accessories on their home page?
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/APCBU10BBEBSTD
$20.00USD, highway robbery...

lol yea it is a robbery... but ive seen that one cheaper at ebay, im looking for the one that comes with the phone... you know, the one that has a squared box around the micro and has a white "usb" icon.... my dog chewed mine so id just like to replace it and keep an original
Good luck with that cable my friend. I don't think you'll ever be able to get one unless you've got a friend in a cell store that will do a B & E for ya on a new box. BTW, if you ever do find one, never use it to ROOT or transfer data. I use it strickly as a charging cable.
Sorry!
lol theres gotta be an online store where i can buy it, i mean i know i can buy any other usb cable but i want one like the one that it came with... and why do you say that? thats the cable i used to do everything to my phone!
Read the forum about rooting your phone, almost everyone who knows anything about rooting will advise you not to use the stock Samsung cable.
Do as you please, its your phone my friend. Just saying.....
It seems a little thin, but I've used the OEM Samsung cable that came with the phone to flash many hundreds of times during testing of ODIN tar packages and Auto Root features. Never had an issue.
I get the picture my friend, you've been lucky from what I have heard but if its not broken, don't fix it. Good Luck in your search and give the dog some food, maybe he won't eat your phone next. jking........

jaja i do, shes just hyper active, and thanks... i just ordered a gold plated 15 ft one but im still searching for the oem... just so i can have it
Well if you give up monoprice.com might be a good place to not get robbed for a cable. I mean paying 5 bucks for Amazon's much longer, much stronger cable is a rip as well but thats the main one I use I also use the OEM one I just cant find it half the time.
I bought HTC OEM USB cables off of ebay for $0.99 each, and they are really good quality. Came from china, and took two weeks, and but worth the wait.

I use my old Blackberry cables. Seems to work OK, and pretty thick.

Whoops, $1.68 instead of $0.99
But still worth it

[Q] Is there something I can buy to charge a separate battery?

I plan on buying an extra battery and I wish to charge it without having to put it in the phone, is there a way to do this?
Update: I found this charger but I'm quite sure if I can trust it, I'm sure how the volts and everything work with chargers but can any of you guys verify this? It seems legitimate though

OEM SAMSUNG
Wow that's a great deal, I was thinking of buying the Verizon Nexus battery everyone else here is buying but I probably won't need that anymore, right?
I totally recommend what kvizz posted. I have that and now I just switch batteries like a boss, no downtime for my phone
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
any cheap china recharger will work and they usually come with a battery too. like $5 shipped on eBay
Damn! I should of bought the OEM charger/battery.
Does OP charger work?
Sent from my SGH-T989
I haven't bought it yet but I'm sure it works but the OEM is what I'll be getting since it seems far better
Highly recommend the Samsung - had mine for a month and it came with an OEM battery, I bought the cheap one on eBay and was sorry I wasted my money. It broke after 2 weeks.

I spent roughly $30 for an OEM battery with NFC & a generic charger that has worked fine since release of the phone. I like the cheap one from ebay because it plugs directly into an outlet unlike the Samsung version which uses a USB cable.
i got 2 of those since day one, from Tmo store / ebay

Best Extended Battery

What is truly worth the money? There are so many posts on batteries and people dont seem to be able to tell whats good and whats not...
Also what is a good place to get a 100% working DATA cable like the one that came with the phone. Mine stopped working.

I use the usb cable that came with my wife's LG Optimus - works great!
I didn't want to risk a no-name cheap extended battery off of eBay, so I ended up paying full price for my Sprint 2600maH and it's worked well. My brother grabbed a cheap one off Amazon and didn't have any problems with his though, but his doesn't last quite as long.
Thanx for replies I pmd you. Also where can I get a cable? mine is messed up!
You can get a cable almost any where that sell computers I have seen them at Staples Walmart almost any whre.

sprint store, amazon, ebay, radio shack. you get what you pay for. cheap is not better. get a good cable and you'll get better data rate, better charge, and a happier phone.

Completely untrue. Buy any cheap cable. You won't notice any difference. Gild plating, shielding, wrapping...it's all just good marketing.
Just find one on monoprice or ebay. If you spend more the cable may ladt longer but its not gonna make your transfers and charging faster.

Cheap can be great. http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10303&cs_id=1030307&p_id=5458&seq=1&format=2
They have them in other lengths too. The 28/24AWG Cable w/ Ferrite Core ones are better than the thinner ones (28/28) they have though, particularly if you want a longer length. I found they sometimes had trouble charging at 1A (when paired with a 1A charger), but even they get the job done, if a little slower on the charging. The 28/24 ones work great -- I have a 15 footer.
So far the most reliable and reputable brand i came across on forums is Mugen Power brand, you can check their fan base on facebook yourself, and read some user comments there. Or ask questions.
http://www.facebook.com/MugenPowerBatteries
It is a pretty strong community for such a product as batteries, and apparently their customer support is very good, they exchange stuff if there are any problems etc. FYI: on facebook they also give out discount codes.
And i read some of their higher capacity extended batteries make phones last at least 3+ days with excesive use. The record i came across was 85 hours from 4800mAh battery with heavy use so i guess Mugen proves the price/quality tag alright!

Wall chargers - anything special between different kinds?

My chargers are all ripped somewhere and not charging right so I'm going to buy a new one. Besides the amps, are there any difference between chargers? I was told to order an HP 2.1A off Amazon but my gut tells me to get a Samsung one. So if there's any special or good wall chargers that have the usb cable someone let me know, thanks

i'd suggest buying an original samsung one for your device
better safe than sorry
The little samsung brick is 1amp. You can probably get one for $5.
Is getting a bigger amp one better or will it just overheat the phone?

it charges ridiculously faster but will over heat the phone too much
So I might as well just get http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0051ZJA64 ?
I was looking for a good charger with a long cable, this one says the cable is pretty short
My suggestion is to buy chargear and long cable separate. I think 6 feet is the longest microusb cable I have seen
Make sure it has data transfer capabilities. Although most do I have gotten one in the past that was a charge only cable.

I've used generic charging cables for YEARS with many different types of cell phones and have never had a problem. I think I had a charging cable fail once, but never any damage to a phone. I always go with the cheapest ones I can find.

I too use generic chargers and cables. As long as the specs of the stock charger are met (voltage and amps), you should be fine. I usually get my gear from monoprice.com. Their stuff is very cheap and I haven't had a problem with it [yet]!

Yep they are all over amazon, just get from a reputable seller as some are fake. I bought some batteries from this seller in the past and they have it for $5.50 http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Travel-Charger-Detachable-Charge/dp/B006YCORR0/

Ah for some reason I misread that and thought you were referring to an external charger where you insert the batteries into. My mistake but I was looking for an OEM charger cable also though, so this works too lol. Thanks
I had external charger but its not oem just the really cheap black one with the red/blue light. Worked fine for me.

Does it work well for extended batteries? I have a Qcell coming in this weekend and would love to have a good working external charger for it.
