Yes forgot to add that as well, tried it already still nothing

Uninstall all HTC Drives and HTC Sync.
Plug the phone to USB, and see if the PC responds. Does it try to automatically install HTC Sync? If so, don't allow it.
Does the PC recognize the phone at all in Device Manager (with all HTC software uninstalled)? If so, select the option to select drivers manually then pick generic Android MTP device (or something to that effect).

Have you rebooted the pc... Then plug in the phone?
And did it work on that pc before?

Not a good sign that your PC doesn't recognize at all. Its possible the phone's USB port is damaged, so it will charge but not connect to sync to data.
Can you try a different computer?

ill try and update u

New rom on phone - USB connection no longer works

I've successfully installed the Open Desire rom on my HTC Desire, but if I try to plug in my phone to my PC I get a windows noise (asif a USB device is connected), but no access to the actual device (e.g. the drive doesnt appear in my computer).
Any ideas on what to do? It was working fine on the same PC before installing a new rom...
Thanks.

Sounds like the usb brick as mentioned above.
What recovery method did you use? Is your phone seeing the sd card?
I had the same problem, can you install from Market? I fixed the problem by changing the default install location for the apps.

Now I can connect both discdrive mode and htc sync. Latest OTA did this for me.

The problem wherein the device doesnt charge when connected directly, and starts charging after plugged in while switched off, is not unique to you. I have faced the same issue. However I have been unable to solve it fully. Cynogenmod Rom when installed does not have this issue, and seems to be unique to Sense based Roms.
Have you installed HTC Sync?
If so, try uninstalling all three HTC Software from Windows-HTC Sync, the Driver Setup, and BMP Driver.
Disconnect the phone.
Now reboot the PC.
Reinstall HTC software fully.
Reboot PC again.
Now start up HTC Sync, and now connect the Usb cable.

Thanks for your response, Actually I am unable to connect my device to pc, then how can i install any other ROM??
The procedure I have read from the websites require the PC to be connected with the device.
Also I didnt installed three things in my PC to sync, I just installed the HTC sync I downloaded it from the HTC website, Please tell where can I find the other two things.
Also there is an update, I have replaced the cable, Now when I connect the device to the PC, windows 7 shows un known device. But nothing is shown in the Mobile, no notification, & no list to select either "charge only" or "Disc Drive" etc
Thanks for your help
Regards
Hmm this sounds allmost exactly as USB-brick (i had one). Did you buy completely new phone or used one. You say its unrooted? Have you messed with your phone (flashing custom roms etc)?

either wrong drivers/not installed properly, usb port bad on phone, bad usb cable (unlikely)
most often drivers are the problem

I Think it is not a problems in the drivers because as i know if it is a problem regarding the drivers the PC must pop-up a notification saying unrecognized device, but in my situation there is nothing happened when i plug my phone to my PC the only thing that happened is that my Phone is charging.. my main purpose why i've wanted to connect my HTC to my PC is that i wanted to use the adb to downgrade and root my phone and also after that to change my rom.., do you have any suggestion to downgrade and root my HTC which i am not going to connect it to a PC ?.
Thanks in advanced men..
not a safe way to do it but if you feel like it you can try visionary. if the wrong drivers were installed then it may not pop up with anything, you can use certain applications to test if any drivers pop up (just google search)
otherwise try and clean out the usb port

actually i've installed it's drivers in my pc, and also my data cable is new.. i've tried it on lot of pc but still it can't be detected..
try to reinstall / update drivers from off site
i know silly question, but .. Did you try changing connection type on your phone ??
Just to confirm try using same cable & phone on some other PC, if it works there there's probably some crazy windows error on ur laptop which is next to impossible to fix, only solution is to format ur PC & install fresh windows. If you phone + cable does not work on other PC there probably something wrong with either, try using same cable on different phone & vice versa.
hope this helps

htc one x not connect to pc with usb cable

htc one x not connect to pc with usb cable (pc windows 7 32 bit) (developer options, usb debugging tryed) There is no message and no one else's cell phone screen and pc. different usb cable and tried and different pc, but the same result. android 4.2.2 sense 5.0

On phone after connecting nothing appears too?
Gesendet von meinem HTC One X mit Tapatalk
Try reinstalling the usb drivers or use a different cable. Make sure you reboot after driver installation. Also, connect the phone with pc and go to device manager and see if it appears there. if it has a yellow triangle in the device manager then you need to update the driver.
Edit: when you connect your phone, does it start charging? because if that is not the case then your phone`s usb port might be damaged

also try another usb port, sometimes one usb port at my pc makes problems.
have you tried another PC?
Maybe is there anything corrupt whith your USB connector..
I had this issue and assumed it was the PC. One day I used the HTC cable that came with the phone and it worked fine. Turned out to be the cheap USB cables I got on ebay. Phone would charge fine, but would not connect properly.

Driver Install Fail - Multiple Times

I just purchased an HTC M8 running software number 1.55.631.4 and I am using Windows 7.
- I first tried plugging in the phone via usb, and Windows notified that the driver install failed.
- Then I tried installing the drivers manually using the All in one toolkit, tried plugging in the phone, and nothing happened.
- Then I uninstalled the driver, and tried installing the HTC Sync Manager (driver included), plugged in the phone, and still nothing happened.
- This problem occurred on an HP EliteBook, so I tried on another HP laptop I have at work, and the driver install failed when I plugged it in as well.
- Now I am here.
Does anyone have any possible ideas/solutions? Any feedback is appreciated.

Install HTC Sync Manager, then uninstall it but leave the drivers. Should then work fine

I'm running into the same problem. Have just unlocked bootloader and rooted the phone. I now want to achieve S-OFF. However when I get to the ADB push command nothing happens. I notice the error "HTC MTP Device - Failed" when it tries to update drivers after passing command adb reboot. Tried installing HTC Sync and uninstalling a few times but stuck in the same place. Any way around this?
Thanks

I just tried this, and it didn't work. When I plug in the phone via USB, my computer doesn't even make the notification sound that something has been detected. The red light on the phone shows its charging, but my computer doesn't even show that anything was plugged in or detected. Could this be a problem with my computer?
If another computer works, then yes

what about device menager ?
Maybe you have some other drivers installed for android devices, try uninstalling them first.

Nothing in device manager either.
I do have my Nexus drivers installed. Do you think that could be the problem? Should I uninstall everything previous?
I tried installing HTC sync manager on my work laptop (which has no other phone drivers installed), and it's still the same problem. One thing I've observed though is when I leave the phone plugged in to the computer USB and do a reboot on the phone, the computer detects it at the startup "htc one" screen, but the device disappears seconds later as the phone continues to boot. It's like it detects it initially, then some software with the phone is causing it to fail. Any ideas?
bump.. went through HTC customer service and they pretty much got me to try reinstalling drivers, sync manager, etc.. didn't work. Said they would push me to the next level tech support which would be as long as 7-10 business days and that was last Monday and still haven't heard anything
