[Q] Wifi staying on when screen turns off. - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI forumers
can you suggest any help?
When I have my device screen turned off, my wifi stays connected. So in the middle of the night, emails will sting "ping" out a sound.
I have selected in the settings to turn off Wifi when in sleep, and when i close my case cover, but it just doesnt.. Any ideas?
Thanks

Yeah that doesnt work for me either. I would try setting a wifi timer in wifi, adavanced settings and pick a time where you want wifi to be on during certain times of the day. Hope this helps!

Really?! not just me then? I was wondering if maybe a downloaded app is making this error happen.
Can anyone confirm that it does work for them?

Guys, Have you tried to untick "always autorized localisation search" in the advanced parameter of the wifi ?
Hope it could help.

Good idea, but I've just tried this and it didnt fix the problem..
Anyone else?
Or maybe someone knows an app that can do this?

Wifi Power Saving

Afternoon all,
I`ve been using the sip client in WM6 thanks to you guys but have a slight problem.
Everytime the screen turns off so does the wifi, which looses connection, therefore incoming SIP calls dont get picked up. Anyone know how to disable this? i cant see a setting anywhere so i assume its a registry setting?
Cheers Andy
I dont think there is a way to make wifi act that way. U could set power settings to never turn off and just turn off screen, but tht would mean RIP battery in no time i suppose. Am i wrong?

Just got Tilt 2 yesterday...Error saying "Can't turn on bluetooth"

I just picked up my tilt 2 yesterday and up until right now it's been great. I turned off my bluetooth last night before I went to bed, and when I try to turn it on now it gives me an error saying, "Can't turn on bluetooth". I'm trying to turn it on via the Wireless Manager.
Can somebody please help? This is extremely annoying.
I don't know if I understand you well, but here is what I think you could do:
tap on the top bar and you will get the notification manager. On top you will see a bar with your carrier name. On the right of that bar there is an icon that shows the strenght of your carrier. Tap that icon and you will end up in the communication manager. There you should be able to turn BT on or off.
Hope this is helpfull.
regards, Kuzibri

Thanks for the response. This is what I tried doing, and when I try to enable bluetooth I get that error. I'm thinking unfortunately I may have to hard reset already
sorry I could not help you, but I would try several soft resets before a hard reset.
That's okay, you tried!! I tried about 10 soft resets. It looks like I have no choice.
good luck and I hope that the hard reset will do the job for you!!
OOPS, before I forget: do you use RamSweeper? If yes, then this is the problem and not your TP2. Please let me know if you use this program and I will tell you how to avoid this BT problem.
No I do not use RamSweeper. I actually just did a hard reset and bluetooth works fine now. Very weird.
Since turning off bluetooth I've installed SlingPlayer, vibra switch (to turn phone on vibrate fast), and thats all.
OK, nice to hear and good luck. Maybe either Slingplayer or vibra switch is the cause of your problem. Maybe its good to try this out before running into the same problem again.
Thank you for the help. I just installed SlingPlayer and bluetooth still works. I'm going to wait on the vibra switch software because it isnt 100% needed with the Tilt 2. I can always just push the volume down until it's on vibrate.
Thanks again!!
Hey Kuzibri just wanted to let you know that this was the problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522373 I forgot that I installed TomTom on there!
I dont know if you still logon or not... my bluetooth wont turn on I tried hard reseting but still get teh status msg "can't turn bluetooth on' any idea how to fix it?

[Q] Where do I find WIFI sleep policy settings?

On ICS, where can I find the settings for Wifi sleep policy etc? My Wifi keeps turning itself off after a time, and Im trying to get the the bottom of it, but cant find where those settings would be. They certainly arent where they have been for previous Android versions...
Go to Wifi Networks, click menu bottom on bottom right > advanced.
Even though mine is set to always stay on, it regularly turns itself off. Every morning, I've lost quite a lot of battery and I have no connection. Within a few seconds of the screen coming back on, it will reconnect.
Is this just me? (Android Revolution HD 2.1.2)
Its not working for me. No matter what setting I put wifi on it turns itself off when out of range for a certain period of time (about thirty minutes I think). Driving me insane.
Mine's only a couple of meter's from the access point, still turns itself off...
The same for me. Not 30 minutes but immediately.
For example the notofications appear only if I unlock the screen.
In wifi setting is on "keep always"
Example: i receive a whatsapp, email or facebook notification only when unlock the screen. Is normal?
With data connection all work fine.
I'm glad to know it's not just me. At least that means hopefully there is a fix coming at some point...

same here anyone an idea? sucks hard..
I figured my problem, traced it back to the Vodafone app, it was causing wifi to crash. Once i removed it it works perfectly. The problem stemmed from the vodadone app constantly trying ro find free wifu points to.automatically connect to.

same problem here

one x wifi opens automaticly?

Hi, I always turn off my wifi when i go to bed at night and when i wake up in de morning i see that my wifi has opened and closed again. I can see that from received whatsapp messages and almost 20 25% battery gone.
Does anybody know how to keep wifi closed? or something else?
HTC One X has something that automatically does this, I think its called "Quiet time".
It could be a little bug that, because you've turned your WiFi off, when "Quiet Time" kicks in it accidentally enables wifi.
weird I didn't know that is it possible to enable that?

[Q] Wifi won't connect until turning on screen

My WiFi doesn't seem to connect to saved hotspots until the screen is turned on. Whenever I get to work or back home and I don't turn on my phone; a couple hours later when I actually turn on the screen it connects. Does anyone else have this issue or know what might cause it? I'm not using any power saving apps or any apps that affect my network.
Try going into Settings-> Wifi -> Click menu button and select "Advanced" and make sure "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" is set to always.

can anyone else verify this happens for them too? I have tried a complete format/wipe and loaded a stock 7105 rom and am still having the issue.
Maybe if you have power saver on, it does that? I know it's lot listed under what it's done, but you never know (;
Other than that, I can't think of anything other than keeping WiFi on during sleep.

it's off :< My roommate's S3 and my other roommate's N4 both auto connect without touching the phone. Once you turn the screen on it's already connected to wifi while mine is on edge until I power on the screen.
The only reason this is an issue is that I use grooveIP for calls through data, so if I have no reception here (i.e. no data) I won't be able to reliable receive calls unless I remember to power on my screen every time I come home.
