Reasons why? Have you done any research? Look up some vids dude, the G3 is a beast!

Is this an answer?? Of course i've done a research.
Videos, benches etc, are a point of view.
Daily use, reliability, stability, updates, support etc, may have a difference.

If you like to flash roms or at least have the option, oneplus one wihtout a doubt.

G3
3GB ram/32GB emmc
µSD card slot up to 128GB capacity
5.5" QHD display
13mp camera w/laser focus
Rootable with Stump (or purpledrake) , TWRP with Bump! Some carriers have patched the exploit so read up if you are considering the G3.
My G3 lasts 48 hours between charging with SOT of 5.5-6 hours of normal use at 60% auto brightness.. YMMV.
My G3 Antutu score is 41252 with no tweaks (see attached pic). YMMV.
I can sing praise of the G3 till I'm blue in the face, but ultimately, you need to decide what's best for you.

I don't use facebook, Lookout (at&t antivirus), disabled some at&t apps. I mostly use the G3 for emails, texts (not hangouts), youtube, flixster, web surfing and calls. I turn off auto sync. I sync mail manually. Brightness at 60% auto. I still have 73% battery left from last night's charge (see attached pic). The only thing I do different than most G3 users is that I use the Apple charger (I had a 3GS before getting the G3) instead of the LG charger. Like I said YMMV. I haven't experienced any of the problems other users mentioned in the G3 forums. I have the G3 on wifi mostly and phone signal strength varies between 2-4 bars.

Wow, if you shut it off and only turn it on when you use it battery life will be even better
. On a more serious note leave your autosync on, install a wake-lock detector, Greenify the hell out of anything you don't need to be waking up the phone, and see thread about greenifying Google Play Services in this forum. That will get you through almost two days without the inconvenience of turning off auto sync on everything.

True, Greenify will extend battery life, but also introduce its own wakelocks nonetheless. I don't have time to check emails every time a notification goes off. I rather check my emails several times a day. The majority of emails is junk anyway. I do check each text as they come in though. Anyway, do what's best for you.

[Q] why so little support for the LG G3 but the G S5 has so much?

I am curious as to why there is very little dev's supporting the lg g3. The samsung on the other hand is being supported alot almost make me think i made a mistake getting the lg g3 but i do really like the phone. I guess i was spoiled before the lg because i had all htc phones and there was an unbelievable amount of support for the evos. so what do you guys think are we at the height of our support or will there be more devs picking this phone up?

Yes, more people bought it, so there are more devs.
What exactly you want developed for G3?
Kernels? Nah, you can't jump higher than lg did. It's already optimised. You can, of course, add some GCC flags, change toolchain, etc etc etc... For a marginal improvement, at best. Well, you can add undervolting, some modules (ntfs, gamepads, etc), advanced sound control... What else?..
Roms? Well, developing "only for G3!" roms isn't the best idea. Besides, some popular AOSP roms are already ported to g3, ones that haven't been ported don't even have stable 5.0 builds yet. Modding stock rom is almost impossible right now, apktool doesn't fully support neither 5.0, neither lg's special apk's (two apk's with id of 127 sharing resources? LG-way, lol.), so good custom roms aren't even possible yet.
And no, we won't get more support. If you want tons of support - buy Samsung.
I didnt get that too comming from nexus 5 i was expection great dev support for G3 as i consider it the best smartphone specially compare to Lagsung devices...but most of android users see only benchmarks so they go and buy that plastic piece of awfulness....but G3 has a great support..its better to have little and good rather than have 30 same kernels like it was on N5 community...the only thing i can't get is why at least CM isn't official supported!!

i agree with both of the posts here and to really answer the first question, there is nothing that i specifically want developed i just was kinda confused as to why the forums are not filled with roms and kernals but you made a good point about saying quality over quantity.. I do really enjoy this phone and consider it the top of the line right now but we will see......
Honestly we have a fair amount of roms at this stage and it will only get better and better but as far as kernels goes I'd wish to see some more with overclocking/undervolting/profiles features in them ..

Ive had the phone for a month or so now and while the design specs etc are top notch
The performance is not
I find it to be slow and laggy especially the stock messaging app (i know i can use an alternative)
I have the 16gb version and it always seems to be using 88-90% ram at all times with very minimal apps in use
Cant see it being the fact i have the 2gb ram version as previous phones with 2gb ram have performed much better.
Considering getting rid for anther device

Agree fully, had my g3 for just over a week. Bought it from amazon so I have a month to decide.
Phone is terrible for lag, battery usage is woeful.
Perhaps my expectations were too high.
Won't go back to Samsung. Knox has ruined that.
The Moto G Play looks fantastic but no European release.
HTC is speculated to have fantastic new models.
Think the G3 might find itself replaced in the New Year

Been offered a straight trade for HTC one M8 might take them up on it
As a person coming from Samsung S2, S3, Note 3, I can say that Lg is doing a great job with the G2/G3 stock software! Way better than Samsung! Yes you'll find fingerprint features and some other useless bells and whistles, but LG software is solid, almost lag free, and battery life is king!
During my lifetime with Samsung, I spent most of my time cheating its software with Cyanogenmod.
So, would I be sad to not have the same amount of support on S5? Definitely no! I think what we have is valuable and I haven't felt yet that I need to run away to CM11/12.

I guess my question with those who see terrible battery life, what is it exactly you expect? I always here "terrible battery life", or "laggy". But no one backs it up with examples.
So, for those that are seeing poor battery life, answer these questions:
What is "poor" in your mind? Please provide a measurement such as you expect x amount of hours.
Exactly what are you using your phone for? Are you playing games for hours, shooting and/or viewing HD videos? Listenting to music?
After x hours of usage, how much battery is left after use (and whatever you were doing)?
For those with lag, answer these questions:
How are defining lag? Where are you seeing it and how are you perceiving it?
What apps do you have installed and how many?
What is the amount of storage you have left?
I know some have stated they see lag in the UI such as when they open a drawer, or swipe between screens and such. I guess I've never noticed that before, so maybe they come from a different phone that responded better in their eyes. Things that can help are possibly reducing the animation, but a possible issue could be the screen size. This phone packs a lot more pixels in it than the S5, so I could see how rendering on a screen with a larger pixel density could cause this. However, for me, I don't really notice it, and even if it is there, it must not be a huge amount or else I'd notice it.
As for battery life, I don't know what people are expecting. I get at least a days (24 hours) worth. Now, granted I'm running Greenify which has helped me on other phones, so I'm sure that has a hand in it. However, there was a time I wasn't running Greenify at first with this phone and I remember having the phone charged at 100% when I went to bed, took it off the charger, left it on (I used it as an alarm clock plus as my on-call phone) and when I woke up 6+ hours later, it was STILL at 100%. Adding Greenify has helped to prevent apps from wake locking, but that's not the phone's fault. That's how some apps are written and that in and of itself can cause battery drain, but it's even worse if you out-right kill the app/service all the time.
I make and take phone calls (not all day, mind you), I send and receive texts (not every minute). I do play games (Game of War a lot) and that does drain the battery, but that's going to happen on any phone. I've listen to music on my phone, especially when driving to/from work and other errands. One time, I must have logged over 2 hours on Power Amp. I wanted to see how much it drained the battery, so I kept note of where the battery was at when I started listening and where it was when I stopped listening. Over a two hour total period of listening to music, the battery drained 2%. Not bad if you ask me.
I'm just curious because right now, with this phone, I'm getting better battery life than I did with my RAZR MAXX and my RAZR HD phones. This phone I could possibly go two days before charging. After about 36 hours, I'm at 40% battery, so I could probably go another 12 hours, but when I get to 40%, that's when I start charging back up again.
I'm not trying to dispute what people are saying. I'm just curious as to what people are expecting vs. what they are getting (or perceive as getting) from this phone. Again, most of the time, we get generic statements as "battery life sucks" or "it lags". Great. Please back that up with examples because otherwise, it's all in the eye of the beholder as to what great or sucky battery life is and/or what lag is.
Just to show, im currently at 60% after 21 hours of use. That's with phone calls, playing Game of War, texting, etc. I've attached the screenshot as well.
Just comparing to my Note 3, with stock FW but apex launcher.
Battery would last in excess of a day with quite heavy use, games Internet browsing etc. BT always on auto brightness.
Apps would also open instantly or as expected.
The G3 can has a battery life of less than 4hrs with little or no use. Consumes 18-19% in 7hrs overnight.
Finding myself charging the phone at every opportunity.
I know the Note 3 didn't come with qi, but the qi on the G3 is sooo picky. 1mm off and it doesn't charge.
Using stock launcher just pressing home, first the wallpaper loads followed by the icons then the widgets. No what would be called snappy.
And OMG does it get hot!!! For no reason at all. Not playing games, just emails and Web browsing.
So now I am left wondering if the phone is faulty.

I have both "issues".
"poor" is g3's screen-on time on 5.0 while browsing using 4g. 5-5:30 hours on latest firmwares isn't much. It was nearly 7 hours on 4.4.2... I always set brightness to 20% auto, lighting conditions are always same.
I use phone for browsing and listening to locally stored music via Bluetooth. No watching or shooting videos or playing games.
After 5 hours of 4g web browsing i am left with empty battery.
Lag:
I define lag as "animation stuttering". I am seeing it everywhere: Vkontakte, Google Play Store, while opening drawer, switching tasks, etc... It lags often, but not always.
I have 47 user apps installed, 0 additional system apps.
The only apps that keep background services or use alarms are: Aqua mail, LMT, SBH52 smart headset, Titanium backup.
There are 4 apps using GCM for push.
There are 6 accounts (Google, Shazam, Skype, VK, tutu.ru and one money app) at sync section.
And i have got 5.4 gb free out of 25 on intsd. Shouldn't slow down writing much.
A perfect setup, right? But it still lags on official firmware.
I would assume you aren't running anything like Greenify, etc. What it sounds like is there are a lot of wake locks going on. That's where Greenify comes in. I also turn off a lot of syncs as I don't need them. As you can see with my screenshot, 60% is where I was at after 21 hours so thus phone can definitely get good battery life. But, if you do a lot of stuff for hours, no phone can keep it's battery life for long. Also, with the quad hd screen this phone has, that is a big drain, but even then, I'm getting great battery life.
Another thing with going to 5.0, it's best to start fresh. Do a factory data reset and start from scratch. Going from 4.x to 5.0, especially with Lollipop, had a lot of changes underneath the hood. There are others getting better or the same battery life, but i also think it all depends on usage.
I dont know with other guys here.but i am very happy with the lg g3 forums

I already dumped mine at a huge loss. I would say worst phone ever, but that goes to my first Android, the Moto Backflip. Thank goodness my other phone is a M8.
Battery is kinda the only area i don't really have a problem with the phone its not the best but its not the worst
As someone has previously said i also came from a note 3 which in performance blows the G3 out of the water snappy and quick with no lag and instant app openings
Greenify shouldn't be something you should need to do to get rid of lag on a quad core 2.5ghz device with 2GB of ram
Out of the box the thing uses 88% ram considering the actual ROM itself is like 1.6gb just HOW is that possible if the entire contents of the ROM was loaded it into RAM should still only use 76%
Its a high end high spec device extremely poorly calibrated i have an old galaxy S3 that out performs it
To say im bitterly disappointed with this device is an understatement
Only thing i'm having problems with is the fact that the ram is always overload. Used titanium to remove and freeze alot of stuff but still the ram usage is about 1.3 to 1.6gb.
This is on stock rom which is very good to me with no lag and everything an launcher needs.
Battery life from the G3 is very good, on my previous phone I was affraid to leave the house if the battery wasn't filled to 100% with the G3 i left yesterday at 62% and returned from work with still 46% (off course with no heavy use) while my data is always on.
Conclusion for me after a month of use, good value for the money.

Greenify isn't for lag. It's for battery life.
Again, each to his own. I think it all depends on the perception of the user and what they expect and what they've gotten in the past from other phones.
Form me, this phone blows the RAZR MAXX and RAZR HD out of the water, which is what I came from and I get great battery life (well over 36 hours) before I have to recharge. And even then, at 40%, I probably could go another 12 hours but I choose not to.
Just last night, before I went to bed, the phone was at 100%. When I woke up 6 hours later, it went down only 2%, so I had 98% battery left. I've since used it to check email, read the news, played about 45 minutes of Game of War and did some updates via Google Play and I'm at 90%. That's after 9 hours since I last charged. I'd say those are pretty darn good stats for me.
Again, mileage may vary from user to user and what they expect. And from the responses I'm seeing, that's what I'm gathering. Some are saying the phone is great, others say it's okay, and others say it's awful coming from another phone. So, that definitely shows that it's all in the eye of the beholder.
But I appreciate what everyone has posted. It does appear that some who didn't like this phone have been able to find a phone that works great for them. I always try to state why a phone works great "for me" because that's what it is. It's not necessarily going to work great for someone else, but I also don't want to steer someone towards this phone if it doesn't meet their needs, so I try to explain why and how it works for me as I'm the user of this phone, and everyone else might use it differently.
Ciao!
I don't get why a lot of people are complaining about lag and support and s*** like that.
You are getting lag probably because:
(A) You don't know how to use your phone.
(B) You picked up the 16GB model (which only has 2GB RAM
(C) You're not rooted (seriously, who doesn't root their phones nowadays)
When I got this phone, I didn't have it rooted for a month. Everything was smooth despite having a lot of apps installed. It only became a lag machine when I installed Facebook and its Messenger app.
Yes there are lags from time to time, but do iPhones not lag? Of course they do, all phones do. I don't see all you guys' point.
A good phone doesn't need any sort of custom ROM and kernel, etc etc. Mine has always been on Stock ROM and Kernel, minimal lag. iPhone-like smoothness, I must say (but plus good multitasking. iOS multitasking is s***) In fact, when I upgraded to Android 5.0, it got even better.
I have stayed stock most of the time but I always have Greenify installed, (but battery life was still great before rooting and installing Greenify)
You people are just picky.
Not sure why people are seeing 18%+ drop in battery overnight in standby mode. Must either have a lot of synching going on or a misbehaving app or two.
Me, when I'm at home, WiFi is turned on. I have minimal syncing (apps, calendar, google+, photos).
Here is a screenshot I took this morning. When I first woke up, I was down to 98% overnight (was at 100% when I went to bed at midnight and when I woke at 6:30 am, it dropped only 2%).
At the time I took this screenshot, I had already read the news, did some updates, checked emails, and played about 30 minutes of Game of War and I was down to 94%. That seems like good battery life to me.
Of course, if you really want to improve the battery life of this phone, maybe you can go to Amazon and get this upgrade for the G3:

Suggestions in buying this phone

Hello guys, I am really interested in buying this phone and I don't want to make a mistake, as this maybe will be my phone for the next 2-3 years, maybe more.I want to know your opinions, does this phone worth to buy? Does it have that annoying bloatware that slows the phone alot(I have a s3 now and I know what I am talking ) and in everyday usage does it work smooth, how is the multitasking and the battery in normal usage (fb, calls etc)?
Also I am between this and the LG G3, I can see a lot of negative thoughts about M8 camera quality,is this true?
Thanks in advance and hope we'll meet in this forum shortly
1) What bloatware the phone has, depends on what variant you buy. But I think the Euro version are pretty clean (at least compared to some of the bloat-ridden US versions). In any case, the phone is very smooth and fast. Some folks complain about lag on Lollipop (known issue on LP in general) but I don't see it. In any case, the phone is not plagued by OS lag like the Samsung GS5 and tablets.
2) Most folks that complain about the camera don't know anything about taking pictures, and are just looking at the MP number, not the actual image quality. M8 camera loses some detail in daylight. But probably only important if blowing up or cropping the photos. The camera excels most other smartphones (at least for its "generation") in low light. Which is particularly important if you take a lot of pics indoors.
There are some other opinion on the following thread, that includes one guy that is considering ditching the LG G3 for the M8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/wrong-t3069102

I get around 6-7 hours of screen on time with 4g/3g and 1 hour of gaming. I can't finish the battery in a day on normal use. I don't have the time. Refer to this post and thread for screen shots. I don't run with gps or location on when not needed or auto sync.
Most bloatware from carrier I could uninstall (I'm on vodafone, not sure about orange or telekom) and bloat from HTC (useful stuff but if don't need it is bloatware) like kid mode, dot view mode and such can't be uninstalled. Stock Sense is fast, the fastest I ever seen on android and the speakers will blow you away first time you hear them
Rooting and flashing roms is easy and you don't need S-OFF for that but make sure you do a nandroid on your stock so you can revert and take the otas when needed.

The above response from TempesZ is better than I can give on this; as I'll have to admit I'm personally not a heavy user on the phone most days (on work computer all day, than mostly use my tablet at home in the evenings). But with light usage, I can get up to 48 hours on a single charge. If my kid uses the phone to watch movies or play games for a couple hours, I can still easily make it through the day with some charge left by the time I put it on the charger before bed.

if you want a phone to put in your pocket to keep things warm in those cold winter days, then buy an M9 http://www.androidauthority.com/htc-one-m9-overheating-594799/
Here's a whole thread of photo samples, if you want to see what the M8 is capable of: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694621

It looks to me like HTC tried to cheat on benchmarks (by turning off the thermal throttling) and it backfired! And most of the smartphone manufacturers do cheat on these.

How do you manage to get such good battery life? I get 5.5 hours of screen time at best. That may be due to me having horrible service in my area. Still running stock Lollipop.

Depends what you are doing with your phone. 7 hours I hit in wifi and without using chrome too much (read hours) and instead relying on things like tapatalk and apps and no games. I am using Maximus HD with stock kernel. I have good signal (always 100%) and brightness usually is low enough and at night is at 0. I can tell you brightness makes a massive difference. I don't use auto brightness but manual and never use gps and location unless I need it. For example if I browse XDA through the xda developers app I get around 11-12% per hour drain on wifi and around 15% on 4g. (check picture, 20 min screen, 4% drain)
Keeping wakelocks to a minimum helps a lot to conserve that extra juice for your screen time. I use my android tools to disable wakelocks and greenify on stuff like facebook. No auto sync either since that would be only my mail and I don't need sync for that.
If I game and have WiFi on I usually hit 6 hours with 1 hour of games or so and that's my average sot.
I don't use Google apps except Google newsstand that syncs only when I want to read it and Google play services which is mandatory. No Google+, no maps (I use waze), no gmail ( ok maybe I use inbox with no auto sync). In Google settings I disabled location history and of course I don't use Google now (another useless drain) though you might use it.
I don't use blinkfeed, I use nova launcher.
Oh and power saver kicks in at 15% and it helps for the last hour or more. It reduces your CPU from 2.3 to 1.2 ghz but I think it's worth the performance impact at that point. 5% is extreme saver time but I never let it go that low on purpose
Check Darth's thread for tips.

[Q] How is battery life compared to G3? (g3 owner willing to buy g4)

So, title self explain. I have G3 and want to ask to someone who made the upgrade from G3 to G4. Is the battery about the same as G3 or is better?
i had G3 and recently i bought G4 not much difference but lets say the G4 win with alittle bit but from my opinion i didnt see abig difference
advice :Stay away from G4--- this device has too many hardware issues

i was planning to buy the G4, so i looked at some reviews. GSMArena said that the battery life on the G4 is a downgrade from the G3.
The Endurance rating worked out to 54 hours, 9 hours less than the G3. The issue was with the high standby power draw, which puts a strain on the battery even when you're not using the phone. The other disappointment was the talk time, which couldn't reach 17 hours - an 8 hour drop from the G3.
We reran the tests several times and kept getting the same results.
Anyway, the web browsing time was pretty good - nothing spectacular, but good. It also marks the only improvement since the G3 as the video playback is below average for the flagship class.

ok. where does it make a direct comparison to the G3. the video is kind of hard to follow. Unless he has both phones in the same video and do a same battery test, you can't really compare the g4 to g3 with this video. the OP just has to decide which source he deems more reliable.

yes because this is a difficult subject so keep a note when he talks of the sot's under different conditions.
Had to watch it a couple of times but i got it in the end. See the comments too.
What is your expectation of sot/runtime ? How much do you get with your curent device ? what is your current device.
There is no difference between G3 and G4 for battery life max i can get 4 and half hours for battery life and minimum only almost 3 hours SOT. Maybe if next LG device is like this battery life i need to change to another brand
Yeah my experience in two days....Touchscreen issues untill i updated to V10C which fixes the touchscreen issue but decreases battery life to the extent where u can literally notice it drop before your eyes. The power saving used to work fine before v10c now even tho i turn it on immediately it wont kick in untill battery reaches 15% ( u will know when its on because the statusbar will change its color to red)...... And yes the back buttons are loose and feel wobbly. There is a pink shade in my front camera when there is sunlight in the background....ummm what else......i am damn sure even the cheap chinese phones coming out will be better than this piece of junk. I shud never have bought it

Dont expect anything crash hot from the battery performance. It is nothing like what i expected. If you want good battery life go with samsung s6 or even better the sony xperia phones. Xperia has best battery life. So G4 wont do you any good with battery life

3h sot, lots of complaining, 4h+Sot less complaining or it goes silent. Seen this a few times now. That is what surprised me. Until you realise that people find 8h run time too short but once it gets into 12-14h+ its ok. Its the standby time that is more important.

I currently have the nexus 4 and i think the most screen on-time i can get before my phone dies is 3 hours, but usually it's in the low to mid 2 hour range before i have to run to the charger. But the phone never last more than like 12 hour of usage (or a 8 hour workshift+ work traffic) as i constantly surf the web, music, and always checking my phone.
I want something like xperia z3 compact or note 4 battery life, but those phones have some things i don't really like. With the G4, i do plan on buying those high capacity battery (like mugen, hyperion, etc..) if the phone does fall below my expectation.

Mostly wifi ? or is there also same amount of data ? how strong or not that cell data signal is and for how long you are on it will take a toll with any phone.

How bright do you like your screen. if you can manage with less brightness ie 30-50% you can add an hour of sot.
for reference, 3-4h SOT on data and 4-5h sot on wifi only with 65-70 brightness. mixed use means somewhere in between, 4h sot. high brightness means low to mid 3h, less brightness 4-5h.
sot/run times you can expect 3h /9h, 4h/12h, 5h/14+h is normal with stock.
Are these figures you can live with ? xperias & note 4 will give you an extra hour sot on top. that extra hour means 2-4h longer run time.
you dont need to carry those bulky batteries unless your phone absolutely needs to be on, just swap the battery out in a couple of minutes.. Not hot swap, have to power down.
How important is bootloader unlock and roms for you ? some people are forced to stick with original and forego firmware updates to preserve bootloader unlock. this means if any improvements are made in subsequent updates they can't use them and are stuck with whatever bugs are there in the older firmware. Stuck with bugs and waiting for roms can be frustrating.
For some one used to nexus 4 being able to flash anything and everything, G4 might seem a bit boring for you, Nexus 5x ? you dont care for replaceable battery or sd card. just get the biggest onboard memory possible

Yep all wifi, don't have a data plan . wifi signal varies to maximum signal to no signal at all lol. But i do turn on airplane mode when i'm on the train for example. My brightness is set to adaptive brightnes on @ 50%ish
I'm actually avoiding the nexus line in the future lol since i really want sd card slot and removable battery (and good/excellent battery life), usb OTG (particularly usb audio out), and a device that can officially unlock bootloader like the g4 H815. and to be honest, stock android ui is sometimes boring and it never has features u see on like xperia, htc, or samsung devices. And I can just do all my flashing needs on my Nexus 4 when the habit kicks in lol. Overall, on my next phone, i just want options and upgrade/replacement possibility

Then you can expect a 4-5h sot/12-14h run time with normal use. Good enough ?
web browsing won't eat up much battery, its push notifications and constant syncs over weak signal that do it faster.
IMO the g3 was garbage...i had 2 that had emmc failures and all 3 i had overheating issues...battery sucked...only pro was there was a good bit of development...i love my g4...only device i miss over my g4 is my g2...battery life is great with minimal tweaks and greenify...my last run was 5 h 2m sot and 47.5 standby...h81110n

Considering upgrading from a G2 to a G4? What's the battery life really like?

Hope I'm posting this on the right place, missed it and was told by an ad where to place last questions when I asked about another phone.... but of course I can't remember what he told me back then :silly:
Anyway, how is the battery life on a G4? From tech blogs to youtube reviews, opinions are all over the place. Some people say 2 and something SOT. Others claim it's great and that they can go a full day with heavy use and 3d gaming, etc and report over 5 hours SOT with that sort of use.
I loved my G2 for a long time because of how well it battery would last. It's not very good anymore, it went through a lot of charging cycles... Hardware and specs are enough for me, so I don't need the 820 on the G5 nor am I feeling the love for that phone from what I've seen. Especially for the difference on price the two will have and the bargain price one can get some places for a G4.
GSM Arena tools tell me the endurance batery test for the G2 is 81h, a terrible 54h on the G4. Web browsing (more the sort of load I tend to pull from a battery when it comes to SOT) gives it a much more bleak picture: 11:24 for the G2 and only 7:54 for the G4.
Should I trust these numbers? Is the G4 such a power hoarder? Are the different numbers I come across because of some version with or without some update that improved/made things worst?
I'm referring to a non-branded G4, international version. Opinions from real life users would be much appreciated!
Cheers! :good:

I have had a g4 for about 2 weeks and i want my g3 back even it seemed better on power than this. My g2 was pbenominal even acter 1.5 years old. This thing but i only have root no bootloader unlock no custom roms or kernals
I made that jump last week.
The G2 was an excellent phone.
The G3 didn't seem like much to me, and I couldn't understand the battery drop-off.
I'm loving the G4, the camera's excellent and the battery life, though not as good as the G2 is not bad at all.
So already I have two different experiences... one that the G3 is better than the G4, another the exact opposite Why is there such a discrepant experience? I know about low signal and constant scanning but I assume those two members above are using their phones on the same region/places/ways...
My G2 battery life is better than G4 at first. Then I turned off two cores in my G4, disabled some settings, and everything seems great now. Good battery life.
Today's battery life on my G4 H815,MM 20d,unlocked bootloader+root+Xposed+Greenify

I had my g3 modded out the gills. Undervolted all linds done bare minimal stock system i could get almost 2 days of moderate usage 6 to 8 bours sot. G4 i love the camera still expiermenting. Im rooted ive managed a few tweaks but not scare of bricking just hate to have to start over. Want over clock undervolt and id be happy. Just knowing i got a locled tight bootloader urks me the most. Its a great phone. Would prefer my g2 over 3 or 4 untill bootloader gets unlocked. I have a lotta quirks on mine i could fix. The battery seems to stay full untill about 12 or 1 then drops at about 1 percent every 3 or 4 min. So i charge off and on throug the day so when i home at night itll make it to bed with like 35 or 40 left
Well, those numbers posted look better than my G2 ever was. But I'm also seeing there's a lot of customization involved to unlock the potential of the phone. Is that why people are reporting such major differences? I must be getting way too old as I no longer find it fun to mess around with phones and PCs, I just want something that works and gets updates that make it better... NO!! This doesn't mean I should go with an Iphone!!
More of a general question... could it be worth keeping the G2 until these new midrange phones with the SD650 or 652 (something like that) start to pop up? I mean, they'll be more powerful than the G2 and probably as cheap or cheaper than a G4. I'm thinking about phones like the Idol 4S.
I've been away from the smartphone market for a long time and I'm having a real hard time catching up. Samsung seems to have turned into some sort of Apple where you pay for the "prestige" of the brand. Motorola has a couple interesting phones but apparently the new Lenovo owner is going to end the brand and I have no idea if that means support. And then these new Chinese phones seem interesting and apparently have good support... Lenovo, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc.
Point being, new midrange is pretty much flagship to my sort of use! It's hard for me to figure out if I even need a new phone! But I would hate to lose the buttons on the back, something that I think only LG owners would get
@Kutusov having read the above, I would seriously recommend the G4.
It's cheap (actually very well priced), still be cheaper as soon as the G5 is released, it's an excellent phone with a FANTASTIC camera.
And it's got the back buttons. In a very short time you'll understand just how far phones have moved in such a short time.
The G2 was spectacular in it's time.
The G3 was refinement but rough.
The G4 blows it away.
Made the jump from the G2 to the G4 a year ago, not disappointed at all
Battery life difference is roughly ~30 minutes worth of screen on time, with the G2 edging out ahead, everything else is just hands down better on the G4 ( excluding the rear facing speaker -_- )
So I'd say go for it, phone's pretty cheap now.
You'll get different results from everyone as we each use our phones differently, different apps and priorities.
If you have social media constantly updating and play 3d games you will need to carry a charger with you, it won't make it through a whole day.
I've disabled most of the bloat, use greenify and get upto 5hrs SOT when reading an ebook from the SD card, but only 3hrs when browsing on mobile data.
Overall I'm very happy with the G4, it would have been even better without the useless 4k screen but there's always a compromise.
I've had the G4 since July 2015 and I'm satisfied with battery consumption(Canadian H812 variant). Not rooted. I disable apps I don't use, installed Lux to control brightness & GPS is only ever used when I need it (rarely).
Per gsam app, averages since last complete charge:
Battery life: 1d 16.9hrs
Screen on: 5hr 48mins

I didn't have the G2, but I'll speak for the G4: the battery is OK.
I usually recharge every 2 days with a normal use (internet surfing, music, watch an episode of a series in the bus, watch the time,...)

Yes, I'll probably go for it. I've seen it somewhere for €330, brand new and sealed, same price no matter what sort of back cover.

How did ya disable the big cores?
The only solution I found was a script.
With the custom Kernels I tried they always turned themself back on. But its been a while since I tried one.
And you get the battery life that you can expect from a 3000mah battery with an 5.5" screen at 1440p.
i would like to get one but not until if ever gets bootloader unlocked for US.
i was on a G2 and bought a G4, the battery life is not bad, but the G2 was way better, but, we are talking about a 1080p screen and a QHD screen...there are no miracles ! I am very happy whit my G4, takes very good pictures and for me, the battery gives "juce" for a day, watching movies/series going to the WEB (3G / 3.5G) but i just turn the data when i want, at home, always with the WiFi turn on, so, i wake up at 6:00AM and i get at home at 6:00PM and i still have 40% our 30%.
For me, this is a very good phone !

Yes, that's more or less my sort of use also. I know that LG wanted to come out with a very good panel to demolish the usually praised amoled from Samsung but it sort of sucks that they did. I have no use for it, maybe it's good for this new VR thing but that's something I'm not even curious to try.
Still, it has the quickest charge possible... swapping batteries
guys i know theres lemon battery. but isnt there like an aftermarket one that will fit like normal but higher mah?

note 10 + Battery Issues / Not satisfied

Hi dear Team
I got my 10 plus (5g) although 3 uk is still to deliver it in order to see the speeds.
I am completely in love with the phone, for sure.
However, my problem is the battery.
Previous device was Mate 20 pro, with a battery that literally could last the full day , this one not really.
while on Mate 20 pro I would go home after 14h , with still 20% , now If I am lucky, It will have 3%
Different screen yeah, but it still feels bad.
Quality is (default) so not even enjoying the full resolution out of it.
Could you help me or tell me your experience as well?
I remember the times with my S8 that while on Roaming, I had to charge it 2 or even 3 times during the day
Thanks!

I use a package blocker. Cloud services including Google's suck down the battery. I blocked Goggle Backup Transport, Framwork, Playstore and Samsung's cloud junk. I only run them when I need them.
Samsung Push, blocked.
You need to closely watch what happens when you block them and opposed to toggling them off.
They're witchy.
I actively monitor milliamp usage realtime to spot runaways. I'm running at around 140-300 ma right now.
MA closely mirrors the cpu usage.
Screen off my power usage with AOD active is around 1%@hr.

Hey can you share the exact list of apps that you have disabled. That would be really nice of you. I don't wanna risk doing something stupid.
Battery life is the only thing my note 10 plus is struggling with.

Disably all power management including Samsung's and especially any carrier apps.
-Untoggle any power saving settings first.-
Disable all cloud apps. Knox junk.
Disable carrier, Samsung and Google feedback trash.
All Bixby except Bixby vision and Bixby vision framework which the cam needs.
Otherwise you need to sort through, learn which ones you want/use, and how they interact. Some bloatware you probably use and want to keep.
Some like Playstore I keep disabled unless I need it.
Each set up is different... play with it.
Do you have Bixby wake up word on?
It used 37 % of battery yesterday. Took me a week to figure this out as the battery was not doing well for me either.
Disable Bixby entirely!!

Don't compare it to the Mate 20 Pro. That phone is just in a league of its own. The P30 Pro battery is even better so don't expect anything close to that as these phones are known for insane battery life.
Are you using snapdragon or Exynos?
If you are using Exynos then you won't get what the Snapdragon variant offers. Snapdragon has better battery life and this is the problem with Samsung. They should make all their phones using snapdragon chips
Hello,
Was wondering if someone has had the same experience with their note 10+.
I got my device on the 22nd of Aug and since day 1 the battery has always been showing 99% almost immediately after disconnecting from the charger.
But after that, it discharges normally. Have had no issues with SOT as well.
This wasnt the case with my note 8 and note 9. They used to stay on 100% for a while after disconnecting from the charger.
But was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience with their Note 10+.
Thank you.

I only needed to disable the always on listening for the wake-up word for my battery to get back to normal (and disable bixby routines in settings).
Battery is OK now for me - still not as good as Huawei Mate 20 Pro but good enough.

Package block all Bixby crapware except
-Bixby Vision and Bixby Vision Framework- (use by camera!!!).
Ha-ha kill wittle Bixby... don't need no big sister.
With an Exynos variant I get 7, 7 and a half hours TOS, of course if I play games the phone won't last me all day.
