Note 4 VZW Caller can't hear me? - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else having this issue? No one can hear me but I can hear them clear as day.

do you have a case on your s?
I had an issue using google search. Kept giving me an error. I spoke directly into the bottom of the phone and it worked. Im thinking its the case. If not this one is going back.

Some cases don't have both holes for both mics on the bottom of the phone in the right spot. It causes problems. "Fixed" mine with heated paper clip

How to solve reject calls when having DHD in pocket?

As many knows there is a very annoying problem when you have your DHD in your jack pocket and answering when someone calls you.
Most often, like 9 times of 10, you accidentally reject the call when pullinng your phone out of your jacket pocket.
Is there any solution to this? surely HTC must be aware of this problem?
Is the only solution to install a ROM without sense?
I'm sorry, as annoying as it may be, and I mean no offence but this is purely user error.

There is a solution! You obviously put your phone upside down in your pocket and when you pull it out, you reject the call. Just put your phone the proper way and you'll be answering the call instead of rejecting it (happens to me all the time especially while driving) .
Now the serious answer is unfortunately "no". You either have to put it in your pocket with the screen facing outwards, or you can use a pouch. BTW stock one is great.

But yes, I listen to music a lot so my phone is in my pocket upside down but I always make sure the screen is facing in then to remove you can slide your hand down the back of the phone (oo er) and grab the sides.

It's not a user error and i didn't ask for your opinion, it's improperly designed software by HTC that have not done extensive testing in how a user handles their phones.
My phone sits in my pocket same as MR_JMM'S never rejected a call getting it out.
Btw if you dont want peoples opinions best not post on xda
Ok, where to start.
1). Have you tried a different jacket pocket?
2). Have you tried a different jacket?
3). How about your trousers/pants? Same results?
4). Have you tried wearing gloves, and answering the call with your nose? Example
Any combination of the above could solve your issue.

True, someone says user fault who runs Cyanogenmod, LOL
He can just slide like iPhone, maybe he never tried Sense?
how about widget locker. The sliding motion is sideway so it may help. Paid apps though.
I think you misunderstand what's happening when you unwillingly answer a call. You slide the dialer with your leg, not with your hand. That's why putting the phone screen outwards would help with that, but it could be bad for it if you bump into something or fall.

Ah ah, that kinda makes more sense, but I never experienced that even before I ran CM because my gel case stops the screen coming in contact with my trouser leg, still can't believe that IF this is a real issue it's not been raised on XDA before now.

Dude...you got it right but the problem is that i have it in my jacket and it doesn't matter if i put it straight down or upside down, the calls get rejected anyway.
It is a major problem and it has been raised to HTC in my country as the DHD screen is very large this problem is more common with DHD than the smaller screens from HTC.
People running CM7 Rom doesn't have this problem as they answer the calls the "iphone" slide to the side...
I've tried Widgetlocker but it doesn't help at all.
Problem is, why have a Sense slide for rejecting calls in the first place? slide it up and the call gets rejected, remove it and the problem is solved.
This is an issue for me too. I have the phone in my pocket with the screen facing my body, and it is my body that activates the slide-to-reject as the phone leaves my pocket. I have to be very careful when retrieving the phone when a call comes in.
Don't like cases, so please don't suggest that.
It is a HTC design flaw - they should have implemented as slide left/right like on the Touch HD.

Yes exactly, cases are so 80's when we had to carry a brick Problem is that Widgetlocker doesn't work for call-ins....it defaults back to sense.
Anyway, people who use original slider(no sense rom) doesn't seem to have this problem as the slider is different like iPhone, god i hate iPhone but that's another story
I bought HTC because of sense, otherwise i could have bought a Samsung.

TPU Gel Cases - Echo problem

Hello
I ordered 2 tpu gel cases from ebay and now i have aserious echo problem, the other side can here himself speaking.
If i could post links out side of this site (i'm anew user here), you could see the cases that i taking about.
Do you know this problem?
Could you suggest me how to resolve it? maybe to cut more space for the mic or something like that...
thnks
Anyone?
Anyone?
Do i the only one who have this problem?
when i remove the case, the echo gone.
but i need the case..
I have a TPU-case but not such problem. Mayne yuo could make the holes bigger...
There's a small hole on the top near the earphone jack for the noise-cancelling mic; maybe the TPU case is covering it. You could try peeling back the edge of the TPU case near the jack so as to expose the mic.
If that makes a difference, you could punch a small hole in the case to accommodate the noise-cancelling mic. You could use a small plastic or metal tube -- maybe the end of a ballpoint pen's ink reservoir -- as a punch.
Echo problem as well here
Hello, I have the same problem with my SGSII. Just got it yesterday. But here I have the problem with or without the TPU case. My TPU case has a small hole near the headphones jack.
Any ideas? And is your problem solved?
EDIT: Tried also speakerphone, then it is all normal. Speakerphone uses the mic on top near the headphone jack, I just found out. It looks like a faulty mic to me (or covered with something).
EDIT 2: Fixed, although people say that with my previous phone the quality was better. Reset to factory defaults did the trick for me. It seems that the firmware update the other day (used Kies) had messed something up, that is my guess.
New device
Well, I kept holding the problem. Yesterday in the morning all was fine, in the noon people kept telling they hear me with bad quality and an echo. I went back to the store, explained the situation, they gave me a new device. I can clearly see the difference in the microphone hole .. the first phone it was closed, here it is more open. Problem should be solved now, I hope. I can say that I tested the quality myself and I can hear the difference. The sound of voice is more clear and louder.
Same problem recently started with mine. Gel case and upgrade with KE7 around the same time. Now everyone that calls complains of echo. Case off to test that when i get home from work. Hopefully update tonight.

I have the same problem with my galaxy s ii
I have the same problem, with tpu case.
Hello,
I have the same problem with case, when I remove it everything become normal.
How did you solve the problem? Please share your experiences.
I have exactly the same problem. I was first using one of the TPU cases with a small hole on the top. As people on the other side was heavily complaining of echo I replaced it with one which is completely open on the top and on the bottom like this. It is actually a very nice case, but I realized that the problem is less evident but it is still there...!
Even if it not obstructing at all any of the microphone/speaker holes, if I raise the call volume I tested without any doubt that a (low but present) echo can be heard on the other side. The echo completely disappear if I remove the case
Actually what really makes me wonder is how this can happen, and I will really appreciate any suggestion...

Incall audio

my top speaker/the one use for making calls sounds like a cheap pair of headphones when the volume is above 8, is anyone else experiencing this?
Yes......... I was hoping I was the only one, but it seems it's not so.
It cracks alot, including ringing. I'd like to know how other phones are, as I am going to return it and go with the Titan 2 if it's common (vs exchanging).
It happens only with volume at 9 and 10 for me also.
does anybody else have this problem? its starting to get on my nerves
The one you put next to your ear during call? No mine is fine.
Did either of you do a wet "skin" install?
get a can of compressed air and blow in it.. gets rid of any potential moisture

Echo problem

All my callers are saying they have any echo when they are on the phone with me. Narrowed it down and it appears to be due to the bottom microphone on the phone. My new case apparently makes it go crazy even though it has a hole for the microphone. My other cases seem to have no problem. It's so weird this case does when it has a hole for the microphone larger than the other case. Anyone got any thoughts other than tossing the case? Could it a microphone problem?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
So when you make a call without the case on it's fine? If so before just getting rid of the case you should try cutting the hole out bigger or something.
Is it covering the top microphone? This is used for noise and echo cancellation, if you have this enabled in Phone's settings. If it is covering this, try toggle the feature off and see if it improves.
odd problem, had the same issue, with speaker phone and bluetooth.
you know what it was (on my behalf atleast) the SIM, went into the AT&T store and got a new sim issued..
weird.

I have traced the problem down to being the bottom microphone on the phone. I did this by covering the bottom one with the case off and it produced the echo on the other end of the line. When the case is off, there is no echo. When you put it back on it is back.
The hole in my case is pretty big for both microphones. I don't see what making the holes bigger will do. It really has me stumped. I did research on the web and it turns out this is pretty common in Galaxy phones. However, there is no good solution.
Some folks just stop using cases. Others got a new sim as you alluded to. Others it started working better. And some just returned their phone.
On the SIM card issue, did it matter if you had a case on your phone or not when you had an echo? Since mine is related to the case and microphone, I wonder if the SIM would have any affect?

it would be worse if i put the person on speaker phone.. so i dont know how it could be the sim, (with or without a case) but it worked better with new sim.
possible fix for echo problem
This may be worth a try to fix your echo problem. Open her up and pad the mic.

Question about "loose" speaker grills

Wondering if others have noticed that the speaker grills on the sides of the new note 10.1 are loose- ie if you tip it on the sides can you tap the speaker grills and they kinda move back and forth? Not a big issue, just wondering if it was just my device or if they are all like this? Appreciate the feedback.

Mine do not seem to move at all so its not all of them.

One of my Notes does that, I took a small piece of tape and used it on both edges and they don't move anymore. It helps my ocd lol.

yea thats like mine, only moves if i touch it
I have the same issue with one of the speakers, and both the power and volume buttons. There is enough of a loose fit, that any touch results in a metal clanking type noise. Rather disappointed at the build quality. My first Galaxy Tab (two years and running) has never had any of these build quality issues.

mine only clacks if i tap it. but my tap is louder than the click and i generally don't spend my time tapping my tablet.
My tablet does not have this problem. Well ... it did not have any loose speaker grills last night. However, today the right grill is now loose. I have been treating this thing very carefully as I do not have a case for it yet. So nothing traumatic happened to it that would cause the grill to become loose.
I have two 32 GB tablets and the speakers are not loose.
Mine actually felt I don't know where and I cannot find it.
I wanted to fix that, so I contacted Samsung support. I'll skip the disappointing conversation with the support person, but at the end my best option according to the tech support is to go to samsungparts.com and buy it there.
I put all the info there, but I cannot find the specific one that actually is required. Has anyone replace this part? If so, which part should I buy?
Thanks
