[Q] SD Card Fix - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've seen mention of an SD card fix but can't find a thread that actually has the process to fix it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I do not have the details on how to do it manually, but you can use an app like this:

You basically have to start to delete stuff you don't need. Go to system settings and storage and start from there. You can actually move apps to the sd card. There's a hack in the development section posted by zedomax. I haven't tried it but you can check it out. Make sure you carefully read the instructions.

Have you tried to plug the phone in to your PC with the card mounted in the phone to see if it will mount as storage? You can also If you have an adapter microSD to SDcard and a sdcard slot on a PC or know someone who does try and read it from a PC. Have you tried to put it back in the skyrocket and see if you still get the error? GL

If you manage to copy all the files to your PC, try looking at this video. I had a similar issue when I switched from a Razr Maxx running a custom rom to a GS3. Might work for you...

Try a different card first. See if it's the card or the phone. RMA the culprit.
Would I be correct in assuming you have a Sandisk Card?

I have an 8gb and 16gb and they work fine. I was thinking that the phone might not support the card but idk.

Freezing when installing/updating apps...

So ever since I started modding this phone with custom ROMs, I have had an issue with almost every ROM freezing just a bit when installing/updating apps. It all started after installing Chemistry ROM, and then has been happening on every ROM I've been on since then (Paranoid, TPR, Goodness). It happens right after the app finishes installing, my phone is useless and frozen for a good 5-10 seconds. Has anyone had that issue and possibly know a fix?

Maybe something happened to your SD card?
There are lots of posts where wonky sd cards create some strange behavior.
I know there are some posts with the correct steps to backup your sd card contents, format it and then copy the contents back to it.
might be worth a shot.
I hope you get it fixed soon

Maybe your partition got messed up. I know it seems like a PITA but did you try to Odin back to stock and reset partition? Not sure if you need a special file for the reset of the partition though? Maybe someone can answer that before you proceed.
I would say to back up your internal and external sdcards and then reformat each one twice...then go into recovery, wipe everything and reflash your rom
I know its sounds like a long and annoying process, but in the long run your sdcards will perform better even if they arent the source of this issue
Here's a short video. You can see how I install the app and then it freezes and then all of a sudden "snaps back" to what I was doing.

Try running some read/write benchmarks on your internal sd. The transfer speeds may just be slow and thats whats causing it
What type of sdcard do you have? Size and class please

Ok, try some benchmarks, a reformat may be in your future if its the transfers are lagging
Sorry to sound like a noob Lil but what should I use to run the benchmark? Does the benchmark fix it? I've used quadrant standard a couple times, just don't know what I'm looking for...

Haha no problem, just download any app that will test your transfer speeds (read and write) a couple times, if quadrant tell you that then use that
What i mean when i say this is not that it will fix it, but it'll tell you if the transfer component is the issue behind why you're experiencing lag when installing apps. You can then proceed to fix it by reformatting your internal and external sdcards
OK so I downloaded Antutu and ran a benchmark for Database IO and SD Card Read/Write and got a score of 555. Is that ok? What do I do now?
Honestly have no idea what I'm doing or what I'm looking for. How do you format like you said?

I went to recovery and formatted everything that could be formatted and doqnloaded everything again. That fixed it! Thanks.

Lol. I was gonna suggest reformatting your sdcards to FAT32, but i guess a reformat/wipe works too :goodn
