[Q] Pre Installed Beam - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is this pre installed beam that was just updated?? How do i add cards to it and where do i find the app?

Download apps like BeepNGo or Samsung Wallet to take advantage of it

Can't you just use keyring to manage all your cards better? I looked at the Samsung wallet app doesn't look that great.

A faster Google Reader app for Galaxy S

*** this is not an advertisement for an app and I have no stake in this app; just sharing my experience ***
As the other Galaxy S owners I hate the lag in my phone. This is true for many apps including the Google Reader apps for Android (official Google Reader as well).
I have tried a different Google Reader app "D7 Google Reader" which doesn't have any lag when run on my Galaxy S. It does have almost all the features available in the other reader apps, but the plus for us is no lag.
Do a search for "D7 Google Reader" in the market and you will find it.
So far so good. Though im waiting to get 100 or so articles to really test it out.
Does the pro version have a dark theme at all?

I don't think it has a dark theme. May be we can request the dev if that's a desired feature?

The latest version (both free and paid) seems to have theme support (light/dark) and lots of improvements.

What Can You Android Beam?

I keep trying to see what can be beamed. so far its a lot less than more.

Youtube video you're watching

You can also beam Contacts you're looking at
I think you can do pictures/videos but I've yet to try
I heard you can beam Scottie up. True Story.

gallery images & videos won't transfer via Android Beam.. you can launch apps & games provided that it is installed.. if it's not installed on the other device it opens up the market link to it.. map locations can also be beamed..
i also just noticed that paypal has an NFC widget for easy money transfers.

Blue NFC is a very very nice app, I will try it with my galaxy nexus and my friend nexus s
tested here with an GN and Nexus S, getting always receiption error ...
looking fine, BT starts on both devices, transfer file, closes BT on both devices,
but error receiption on target device.
normal BT transfer tested and working fine.
will try on 2 GN to see if that works.
I don't know anyone with a GN so can't test

USAA Not compatible with Nexus 7

I just received a Nexus 7 and tried to install USAA Mobile on it. The Play store says that the app 'Isn't compatible with this device'. USAA mobile does work on my Galaxy Nexus (Jelly Bean) and Galaxy Tab 7.7
Does anyone know what the problem is, or if there is a workaround?
It might be a screen resolution issue - if the Nexus 7 resolution isn't listed as an approved resolution it won't install.
Pull or "backup" the apk then side load it on the N7

I restored the backed up copy from my SGS-II and that works fine, same for Whatsapp.
Can anybody please post the most recent version from the play store? I think it's dated 25 Sept 2012. The one I side loaded from titanium will not let me send money to people, the option is gone. I'm hoping the new version has this.

Which Office App should I use for Nexus 7?

I installed a couple of Office Suite from Amazon Free App of the Day on my phone. I am wondering which one is the best for the Nexus 7. I can download other free alternative if it is even better. Thanks!
List of Office Suite that I have from Amazon:
OfficeSuite Professional 6
Quickoffice Pro
Documents to Go 3.0
Or should I go to a free one?
I like quick office pro, and I think I remember them being bought up by Google docs or something like that not too long ago. I can't remember I'll have to do some searching.

Kingsoft office... And it is free

I have Office Suite Pro that I got for free.... so that's my only choice.
I used Polaris on my old transformer and I liked it. There is a really good comparison between the various office apps some where online. I think someone from the Asus transformer forums did it.
Some allow you to only read and not edit. I can't see really having to edit or create documents on the go, but I guess some people do. As long as I can open them, I'm good. Since you have access to them all, won't you simply try each one and tell us what you like better?

I have always used quickoffice pro on my 10" tablet, and I installed it on my nexus 7 and it works great. I also got those three office apps from amazon, and quickoffice pro seems to be the least buggy

CloudOn is one of the best office apps I've seen, although you need to be on wifi and have a box, dropbox or Google drive account (or all 3) as it only reads from cloud storage. They match the office ui almost exactly and have support for Excel, Word, and Power Point docs. Also it only works on tablets.

QuickOffice Pro HD is great, though you'll need to pull the APK off another device, it doesn't think it works on the N7.
Which office suite would be best for a student? I'm looking at Smart Office 2. Anyone tried it? I believe its on sale now for $1.98

How did you get cloud on? When I go to it it says its not compatible...

Here is the link to the comparison:

Quick office HD.
Think it shows not compatible in the play store, but it works fine.
You can link it to all your cloud storage accounts.
It has really advanced features that mean you can create documents as if they have been made on the PC.
I think quick office were acquired by Google not so long ago but I might be wrong on that.

I have no idea how this is free. It's as full featured as the $15 apps. There are no ads or other bloatware.
Another vote for KingSoft, It's brilliant. I paid for it when they used to charge.

+1 for Kingsoft it really is great. Like iElvis said, I have no idea how its free but its fully featured works great!

Thanks for the king soft suggestion. It is much better than quick office pro I got for free on Amazon.

I recently tried this app as well, I love it. I don't think anyone should spend money on an office suite app since this one is available

+1 Kingsoft
I like king soft but its very laggy. Anyone else ?
I posted a thread exactly like this and the general consensus was Quick Office Pro HD. I got off Amazon since it doesn't show up in the Play store. It works awesome, integrates with Dropbox too.

I have king soft installed and it works perfectly, haven't experienced any issues.

Beaming to a Samsung S3 not working

Has anybody successfully been able to beam between the N7 and a Samsung S3?
Everyone I try it must opens the play store and nothing happens.
Any ideas?

I don't think it works. I tried it with a S4 and a N7 and it hasn't worked. I don't think Sammy's sbeam is compatible with the N7 nfc transfer... Two Google devices yeah, but a Sammy and a Google device? Doesn't work for me...

I have a nexus and an S3 and it works fine. I tried replicating the issue and it worked fine for me. First question is, are you on a custom ROM? Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but just putting that out there.
Second, my nfc settings on S3 are with android beam on, so beam off.
Also make sure that you are placing the nfc sensors together, as it can be difficult to find on the nexus.
Lastly, I love using an app called SuperBeam, which allows me to share files between my two devices. It's like S beam for galaxy phones, except for all nfc android phones.
Best of luck!

Yes i checked and double checked it only transfers via bluetooth if i turn of Sbeam on my Note 2
All mine does is open QuickPic. Nothing transfers.

My s3 also s4 when trying to beam to my N7 are both directed to the play store. When I run an aosp romn the s4 it works fine with the n7 and android beam. I think touchwiz messes it up.

Disable S-Beam and enable Android Beam and it will work with the Nexus 7 or any NFC enabled android device.
it will work only by opening the bluetooth not the wifi for the transfer...so for large files it's not so fast transfer. ..
