Dropbox? - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else having issues with Dropbox? After logging into my Dropbox app, all the files are "there" but I can't open any. Pics are returning an error message of "Preview not available", and other files are saying "Storage full or unavailable". I can open them fine on the PC, and can open other files saved to my SD card or phone, just Dropbox is fighting with me....

How to save email attachments

I emailed myself a cab file that I would like to install on my device. I have Outlook configured to storage attachment on my storage card. I find an inbox.mst folder on my storage card, but every file has a .att attachment. I found the file that it must be, because of date and size, and copied to another folder and then renamed it. Once i launched it, it was the .cab that I wanted. But is there a better way to save email attachments?

Click to collapse
When you open an e-mail you should see the attachment listed, just as you would on a desktop Outlook (even though you've set it to be stored in the bundle on the storage card). If it hasn't actually been downloaded from the server yet (because of how "attachment-size" restriction has been set) you'll need to have it do that first. Then do a long press on the name of the attachment and a little dialog-window should pop up/open with "save as" as an option. Select it.

Funny issue: Index of gallery?

Hello everybody!
I got an issue on my Froyo (LeDroid) rom.
When i download a picture from my Dropbox folder (or from the EX-Explorer via lan-network), the picture does not show up in the gallery, where i can chose it as my wallpaper.
The File is defenitly there (i see it in the file-explorer) but it does not show up in the gallery apps.
How can i fix this?
Someone noticed something simmilar ?
Maybe the Gallery is a little "lazy", if so then SDrescan might help:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.bero.sdrescan
I had the same issue, in completely same steps.
On my PC on the dropbox I dropped a ringtone, the placed it in /sdcard/media/ringtones/ with the file manager, but the ringtone showed up nowhere.
Reboot of phone helped
Edit: I get "installation unsuccessful" for sdrescan.
I just unmount and the remount the SDCard.

intshr/intshrUI.exe cannot be open in /windows but opens fine in storage card

I was having trouble with internet sharing with a WM 6.5 ROM. After extensive search, I noticed that the intshare.DLL file was missing in this ROM.
I copied intshare.DLL to the \windows folder where the intshr.exe sits, but clicking on it still gives me this "cannot open" error. While on the other hand, I can open it up and bring out the internet sharing interface fine from storage card ( I put the exe and dll in the same folder), and it connected fine too (did not see the actual data transmission, but it shows "connected").
usbtopc pop up menu keep calling the \windows\intshrUI.exe and keeps getting the "cannot open" error.
Can you guys offer me some help with this issue?
Thanks.

[Q] Weird writing problem on rooted ND8 stock.

Recently rooted my phone thanks to these wonderful people at a place called xda-developers. You may have heard of them.
Anyway, I find that there's something weird going on with my phone, I can't write to the internal storage. External SD card works fine, Internal SD card does not. Only a few apps work.
The camera app will take and save photos, but using the camera within Kik Messenger gives m the error that the photo cannot be saved, I have to take photos with the camera app, then import them to Kik with the "choose photo" option, which will let me choose a photo through Gallery.
In another related issue, ES File Explorer will not create new folders. I'm in the main directory of the "internal" SD card, where things like Downloads and DCIM like to sit in. I cannot make a folder. If I go in with a Windows computer over USB I can make folders fine. ES File Explorer cannot even delete the folder. Says "New Folder cannot be deleted" Why is this? I can even rename the folder, but I still cannot delete this folder. Going into the properties it says I have full read and write access to the folder, I still cannot delete it.
In a third instance I have the GPS program Navfree. I cannot even run the program. Google Play installs it and it says it works, but when I go to actually open the program it gives me the error "Program cannot be installed, contact support" before quitting me back to the home screen. This program is special because it downloads and installs, but there are map files that it needs to download before it becomes useful. This is done within the app and I do not know where it tries to save to.
I think all of these problems are related and I have not seen any forum posting about it so far and I have been searching for a while. Google Play will still download and install apps like no problem and ES File Explorer will copy and move files around and will even rename New Folder to 'folder' but will not delete i
At first I suspected it to be the problem with KitKat and the debacle about writing to /external/ SD cards. But my problem extends to the internal storage as well. I have applied the fix to the 'permissions.xml' file by adding "WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" I had to flash the fix in with recovery because I could not save the edited file I had typed up. Using one of the automated fixes in Google Play told me the action had already been completed. On the contrary, external storage works fine, I can write files and delete them and whatever I want to the external. The problem is with the internal card and it applies to everything I've tried except the camera.
So what is going on with my phone? I have root access but some apps will not work properly. It's just one headache after another. Here's hoping I won't notice the next one until I get another phone...
Eventually I just got fed up with the problem and re-applied the stock rom with Samsung Kies. Re-rooted and now the problem is no more. Thanks for thinking about me!

Simplemind/Dropbox Problem

I installed Simplemind Pro and have Dropbox installed on my rooted Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 phone.
I'd like to set up Simplemind to save and read files to Dropbox which it is supposed to do.
Below are your instructions on how to do this along with what happened when I followed them:
How to connect SimpleMind for Android to Dropbox
Make sure the Dropbox app for Android is installed. YES
Open SimpleMind and tap the Mind Maps button YES
Top left in this window's toolbar you'll see navigation tabs as depicted on the right. Initially this will usually be "Local". Tap that to see supported clouds and select Dropbox. YES
If Dropbox is not visible in this list, use "Cloud Setup" to enable Dropbox support. VISIBLE
Selecting Dropbox from the navigation Tabs, opens the build-in Dropbox Explorer. AN EXPLORER DOESN'T OPEN. THERE IS A TEXT BOX THAT SAYS "CONNECT TO DROPBOX". WHEN I SELECT THIS I GET THIS ERROR MESSAGE: "CANNOT SETUP DROPBOX: UNABLE TO ACCESS PUBLIC STORAGE".
In this Explorer authenticate with Dropbox using the "Connect to Dropbox" command. This prompts you for confirmation to let SimpleMind access your Dropbox folder. I NEVER GOT ANY SORT OF PROMPT TO LOGIN AND CONNECT.
I've been told that this is because Simplemind is not finding a public folder. I don't know if I have one, where it would be, how to set it up, etc.
Any ideas?
