Nope. But the first thing I did was go through and disable/uninstall every bit of bloatware that was possible. Phone is smooth as butter...

nah mine is nice and smooth. only typing lag I get is with swiftkey on hangouts bc hangouts is a horribly coded lagfest.

I had the very same issue. I discovered my fingerprint scanner didn't work and no one could hear me during phone calls. I also had what i thought was high battery usage (probably a bad fingerprint module). I exchanged mine for a new one, and that one works perfectly. Hope this helps.

I had that problem when I went to art runtime but switched back to dalvik and perfectly fine. Even on art my phone would turn on the screen for odd reasons and find myself calling someone but not even an issue on dalvik.

yea sorry to tell you but you def got a defective device... this phone is the smoothest and fastest device I have ever experienced... go get a new one before it is too late!

Everything has been pretty smooth for me. Only thing is the delay when using the recent apps button.

Wipe first then post..
Wipe first and then post. Being a new phone I really didn't think a wipe would help. After resetting it appears to work correctly the typing lag is gone and scrolling seems to transition fluidly. I'll play the rest of the day and see if it reverts or stays like this.
So to the developers. . What on a fresh , new phone would cause it to act laggy ? And how would a data reset correct it? We are not flashing roms, and the os is untouched during a factory reset.. it's not like I Odined the system over to replace a corrupt system file. Any thoughts ?

Mine works fine. Disabled a bunch of apps and slapped apex launcher on it. So far I'm happy just wishing for root still.

Is it laggy with battery saving mode on or even with normal mode?? I found my laggy and froze with battery saving mode on. I have tried to factory reset and do a rom recovery, disabled all the bloat but no help. so I request for a new one. If suggest if anything is not normal, just get a new one while you're under 14 days warranty period.

Yeah I just might.

Yep, mine has froze and reboot issue, I called VZ and they you should get it in 2 days. They will put the charge on your account (no need for credit card), once received the new device, just ship back the old one and they will credit back 312$ to your account. You must call VZ technical support, not customer service. Tech support has the power to do anything with your phone. Good luck!

The only time I've come across stuttering/lag is playing Sky Force 2014. This game will just not play smoothly on the Note 4. It's very fluid on the S5 however. Maybe it's the upgrade in resolution. I don't know.

Getting ridiculous lag in Hangouts and there is a bit of delay on the recent apps.
I chalk it up to Hangouts being crappy and Samsung being lazy with the recent apps impelentation.. everything else is butter.

Well here is the weird part about mine, it was lag free until i tried flashing a rom. N910w8 model. Then went to tri finger scanner and the app dont launch i get an error, just my luck

I am also getting lag in hangouts and it doesn't scroll down when I type a message and send it.
Also - Put the note 3 and note 4 next to each other, home screen, say "okay google" note 3 beats it by a full second every time.

I'm on art and I have no lag whatsoever it's as smooth as my m8 was and way smoother then my g3 was.

omfg that's the worst! my tab s does that. since day 1 it won't scroll down which lags it even harder. my note 4 does though, as did all my phones. but the tablet refuses to. I don't get why the hell it doesn't scroll automatically!

Did you turn off animation under the developer tab? It has to be at at least .5

Apps crashing and scroll lagging - anything specific in Note 3 that caused this?

I am coming from Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 and I have installed many apps with no issues. When I moved to Note 3, the same apps that were running just fine in the Nexus 5 and 7 start to have problem:
- Apps opened up, perform certain activity, crashed
- Apps opened up, vertical and horizontal scrolling is really laggy
These apps are like Pocket Informant (calendar app), Pocket Money (financial app), and Shiprack (package tracking), just to name a few.
Seeing all these apps functions well in the Nexus series, the problem seems to point to something within the Note 3.
I am rooted, stock, Knox is NOT tripped. I turned off all animation (0) in the Developer settings. I frozen some built-in apps (see below). Is there anything in Note 3 that I need to UNFROZE or anything I need to do to fix this problem? It's kinda hard to like the Note 3 when the same apps that works well in other phone just quit working...

You froze over 70 apps off the stock ROM? I have at most 20 and don't have the issues you are having. Guess you froze something that is needed.

Yeah, many of these are widgets, or things like Google+, which I froze in my old Nexus phone and tablet with no issue.
I scrutinized each app that I froze to figure out what are its function to make sure it won't cause problem. But it seems something is tied with TouchWiz or vice versa. For example, if i turned off animation, rearranging apps in folder sometimes crash TouchWiz, which is bizarre by itself.
Do you mind letting me know which apps did you freeze? Screenshot is appreciated.

Thanks, Man! Sorry for the delay in replying, the new Tapatalk notification screen is not very intuitive. I.e. now I see each post instead of the forum title, so i got a bazillion entries...
Anyhow, could you repost the image? It didn't show in the forum.
It is in your reply above. I can see it fine. Using tapatalk 4
Looks like AdAway is blocking tapatalk image hosting... that's interesting...
Anyways, I can see it from my desktop. Looks like you use many of Samsung apps (Cloud, Backup, Group Play, etc.) since those were not frozen.
I am going to unfroze Samsung stuff to see if it make any different...

How about battery life? Don't those stuff keeps running in the background?
If I do a hard reset, will:
- all frozen apps are unfrozen?
- all xposed module uninstalled and system settings like battery icon reverted back?
I am rooted, stock with no KNOX trip
I may have to do this to fix the issues I am having.

Just unfreeze everything. Just remember, Nexus means pure AOSP. Samsung means TouchWiz, which has a ton of things needed to run "correctly."

Just because something is running in background doesn't mean it is using the battery. This phone has lot of memory compared with most so for the most part it doesn't really matter.
Things that use the battery a lot are apps that use the Radio, actively use GPS and bluetooth being on. I only have BT on when I am using it in the truck. I always have GPS on because I don't use many apps that actively use it (Google maps uses it when you are navigating or have it active on the screen, but stops using it when you put it in the background).
Battery life is really in hands of the user and how they use their phone and what apps they choose to use.
For me, I get typical 15hrs of life in my phone (that would be down to the 20's% area) which is more than adequate for me.
I don't have time to play games and my phone is required for business so if the phone doesn't ring when someone calls, notify me when a page comes in or I cant make a call when I need to or access data that I need to access, it is useless to me.
As a result, I don't load different roms, play with kernals and do a lot of tweaking because that typically ends up with something not working.
I do have the ability to quick charge my phone at just about every where I go. So if I know I am going somewhere where I will be hanging out for a long time, I can do a quick charge to make sure I can do it. My truck, each computer station at work and home has 2amp charging available which charges as quick as the original charger that comes with the phone. I rarely need to do that however.
When I rooted for 4.4.2 I blew the Knox flag. No longer cared. At one time I thought I might need it for work but that is not going to be the case and I am confident that if I have a real hardware issue it will be covered with the coverage that I have on the phone.

Yeah, I have done that, but some issues still happen, namely the apps that I use. It could be just the apps, but I am trying to narrow down the problem.
I have used Samsung phone before (Galaxy Note 1 and S4 Active) and even HTC phone. Freezing built-in apps never caused this kind of issue (3rd party apps from Google Play crashed), as long as I don't freeze those I know is essential (for example, I won't freeze "Phone" or "Touchwiz"). If you see from my screenshot above, although I freeze a lot of apps, most are widgets and apps like Google Music, etc.
However, It seems that with Note 3, Samsung make Touchwiz more integrated.
[UPDATE]
Unfreezing ALL the apps I previously froze did not fix the problem. I rebooted, pull the battery, etc.
So I did a hard reset and...lo and behold, all the issues I had disappeared - the apps downloaded from Google Play no longer crashing or have scrolling lag.
There must be something in Touchwiz that "hooks" to these 3rd party apps, though I don't know what it is. It is quite interesting that Samsung will do this (first Knox, now this?), when I didn't have this problem with previous Samsung phone when I installed the SAME EXACT apps and Xposed module.
I will try to freeze the built-in app one-by-one and see if there is any issue there.

I switched last night, but then went to bed shortly after.. phone was ok when I woke up.. I planned on playing with it a bit with it today to see how it acts. but...
first bootup was SLOOOWWW it just sat there for a good couple min. I thought it had locked up but I decided to just wait it out. After that it took about 5 to 8 min extra to "optimize apps" like 355 of them.. next boot also went through the process of "optimize apps" but that took considerably shorter amount of time as it was only 10 apps. a third reboot and the phone wants to optimize 10 more apps.. A fourth reboot and it wanted to optimize 10 more apps.. so I switched back to dalvik after that..
the whole process ate like 25% of my battery as well, from a full charge after 4 reboots I had 74% left
I switched to ART for a few hours yesterday. After the initial pre-compile stage, everything was smooth, but after a couple of hours, phone started lagging really bad, and some apps (like Facebook) just plain won't open, even after "clear data/clear cache". Also, it seemed like the phone was running warmer. I switched back to Dalvik, and everything went back to normal.

I've been running ART with zero issues.
Worked for me, Sorta
I have it on ART now, and it is working OK. Google hangouts, the phone app, and the settings app are SLOW! Everything else is going okay. Here are the apps I have tried so far that work:
Nova launcher
google now
remember the milk
play store
smart remote
camera
waze
pandora
Battery life has been decent though. (Certainly better than yesterday, out within 6 hours after full charge)
i switch to ART, stocked apps including paypal worked well, but other my other banking and shopping apps keep crashing so I switch back and will try later
With all these reported issues, why continue to try?
Dumb question but what is art?

The point is to get a performance enhancement by switching to ART. If it cause this many issues then it's not worth it. I'll wait until Lollipop to enjoy the benefits that should come.

Same here, upgrading android every time I reboot, also have had a few apps crash but none really important.
Really depends on everybody, how many apps you have installed, how big they are, and son on.
But the first boot will take a while sometimes up to 10 minutes if you really have that many apps!
But from owning a few Android devices (21 so far) , ART has had negative performance issues on some of my capable phones....and positive on others.

ART- Android Run Time is Google's new cache system they will no longer use Dalvik with the release of L, it's supposed to cache larger parts of the app in memory (sorta like preloading apps) so apps open and run faster. The initial use of ART will be a bit slow as apps will need to prebuild but the outcome is supposed to be a faster app launching and loading process and faster system. I personally wouldn't use it until the Note is updated to L because it'll be unstable on KitKat

Laggy Note 4?

Ever since I rooted my note 4 all it does is lag. My note 3 runs way smoother! I'm not sure why this phone lags all I did was install a couple of xposed modules and that's it.

Not sure what you mean by syncing s-health, just make sure you clear data, and start fresh. I did this fix 4 days ago, and my steps are there for the past 4 days. Everything is still running smooth still also.

I tried to remove and add back my Samsung account and that didn't work either.
I tried this on 3g and lte but I haven't tried on wifi although I dont think being on wifi should matter.
I did not know that back up/restore existed, so I can not answer that one. Does everything else work on s-health? Can you just start fresh and not use your back up, or is s-health not working at all?

Didn't work for me. I had to turn off Xposed for now
Double check the security file in the build.prop, maybe you changed the wrong one? I remember several files with security in the name. I am not comfortable messing with those files, so I checked and re-checked for that reason. Also, make sure you follow the order when clearing data, and and re-installing xposed. You only have to uninstall the installer framework, not the app completely, and wanam xposed does not get touched. Hope it helps!
OK I fixed my issue. I went to the s health app. I went to the main screen from the left side pull out menu. Then selected my name, then clicked on my Samsung account at the bottom and selected erase data and reset. Hopefully this will help someone else.
For people with lag after xposed, a person at s4gru said that they installed wanam and checked the circle battery checkbox and it lagged badly. He unchecked that and the lag went away even with xposed and wanam installed. I have not rooted my phone yet to see about lag but will eventually.

yeah, that would be me.
In my case, after rooting the Note 4 and installing my root apps everything was fine until I installed Wanam and checked on the circle battery setting to on. Then it lagged, especially when I click on the drawer icon. It would slowly go up like a snail. After unchecking the circle battery and re-installing Wanam, the lag stopped and its as speedy as day one. Now why the circle battery would make my Note lag when choosing the app drawer is a mystery.

I will have to try this! And my only guess is the different image files the note 4 uses and wanam is probably trying to change it to the circle battery but it just keeps conflicting together.
I have circle battery enabled through Wanam and I don't lag.
What I can't stand is the typing lag. I notice it mostly in Google hangouts and in some other apps. I've tried different keyboards and still the lag is present. I've notice this on my Note 3 as well only when I'm on a touch wiz rom. Anyone know how tor get rid of this typing log?
@DarkManX4lf Same thing here, only lag im getting is when using hangouts. Other then that no lag to be found what so ever.
I just tried hangouts and no lag.
ok, so I went back into Wanam and checked on battery circle and rebooted to see if I can reproduce the previous lag issue I had.
Result: no lag.
This is really odd.

Yep so i got the notification this morning on my un-rooted s6. Since i have a poor signal i decided to update and see if my signal will improve. Will see how it goes as my day wears on...
Maybe it's placebo, but it does seem to help with scrolling and touch screen responsiveness. Since I purchased this phone, that has been a sore spot for me, especially coming from the M8 which is incredibly smooth and responsive.
Also this update adds a new app, Samsung+. Most of you will disable this like I did.
I checked for the update manually and got it first try.
just curious, does this fix the voicemail bug? It's showing I have 2 voicemails, but when I call voicemail there is nothing there.
I've checked with the Sprint VoiceMail app, and by calling and there are no messages.

Honestly don't know what the change is.. Maybe a bit smoother?

My wife now uses the M8. Sometimes I'll get it and play on it and I can't believe how much more fluid the experience is.
At times I regret getting rid of it, miss xposed and all my mods. :crying:

Agreed. I have the phantom VM notification too. The only way to get rid of it is to clear the data on the phone app.
I don't notice any changes in this update.

im in the same boat, my m8 was a beast, it was a such a lagfree phone, not sure what the issue is with the s6, most of the time phone feels slow, even after data reset, and wipe cache partition.

do not upgrade if you are on 5.0.2 samsung ruined this phone. i get not even 1.2 free ram and it doesn't clear it either unless u use an app to constantly kill the apps unused. so it eventually gets to 800 free ram

Heck that has been happening ever since I got the phone. Terrible multitasking, RAM management, jumpy scrolling right out of the box. I've been terribly disappointed with this phone.
With that said, 5.1.1 update has made things a little smoother on my phone. Battery is still crap and RAM is still jacked, but it does seem a little smoother.
The worst part is seeing the folks in the unified development forum singing the praises for the xstereolite ROM and how good it is on battery, knowing us Sprint users are on the outside looking in.
I am also disappointed 5.1.1 didn't fix the glaring issues with this phone. The 2 new Nexus' are shaping up to be killer. Might have to get y first ever sock Android phone soon if Sammy doesn't get their shizzz together..
no problems with OFE + factory reset. Good battery and no lag.

Performance seems better for me but battery is tanking with Android system using the most at 8%. I'm going to try a factory reset myself.

Interesting. I've been getting this for the last couple days, too. I thought it corresponded with some app updates but I've tried to clear cache on apps and touch wiz also but the problem persists. Hmmm.
Anyone have any ideas?
I got the same thing since a few days ago. It is pretty annoying. Hope somebody can help.
Me as well. Everything has been fine, no new apps and all of sudden Touchwiz is crashing all the time. I'd really like to avoid nuking the phone again.
You say no new apps, but had you updated any? Mine seemed to start doing this after I updated apps. If it's not app updates, it would have to be the auto updating security policy patches. That's all I can think of.
Edit: and if we factory reset, it'll just happen again eventually, I suppose...
O new apps for me updated a few last week this just started about 3 days ago isn't touch wiz an app or does it come in phone I looked in my apps and it is not there but i swear I remember downloading it when I first got phone but I did not like it maybe I am wrong

Touchwiz is already on the phone out of the box.

Touch Wiz is your homescreen, so yeah, it comes on your phone. It's uninstallable (without root) and in all my years of Samsung phones, Samsung has never released an update for it via the Galaxy Apps store. The only way it updates is through an OTA update (full firmware update).
The only things I can of your you guys to do is to try removing Widgets from your homescreen. The app associated with the widget could be causing an issue.
If all else fails, a factory reset will definitely fix this type of issue. I know from experience on older phones.

It's great that this post is here. I just bought my note 4 after owning the OG and Note 2. It has 5.1.1 and I'm with AT&T. I had no idea this was as locked down as it is.
However I too in the last 2-3 days have had TW FC on me. I was using TW as I wanted the Samsung experience. I have had Google Updates in the last couple days but no firmware updates.
I was just going to post my TW problem and trying Google Now for a launcher. It seems not to be as much as a resource hog but still getting some FC issues. I downloaded a Samsung app called Package Disabler Pro that lets you disable TW, Gear processes and lots of others without root. I feel with this and the Now Launcher battery life is greatly improved and there is much less lag if any at all. Just wanted to post. Wondered what others were doing for TW and lag?

I always use Nova Launcher, which may or may not be why I'm not getting the crash.
Has Flipboard or S Voice updated in the last few days? (I've disabled these apps via Package Disabler, so I don't get update notifications). Besides widgets, these are the only 2 other things I can think of that are linked directly to TW (Touch Wiz).

Edit
Try this. Go to settings- Applications tab- Application Manager
Then follow the pictures I attached. WARNING: This will reset your homescreen layout.
Do the following for both of these apps if it allows you:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then push these buttons in the numbered order:
I already tried all the clearing of the touchwiz apps and setup my home screen again. It didn't fix the problem.
I have several apps disabled but I don't know why that would cause this. What's interesting to me is that multiple people are getting the same problem around the same time. This would make me believe that the cause is some sort of update of something, whether it be an app or other system file update like security policy stuff that updates itself "behind the scenes."
Looks like I might factory reset. It's getting bad on my end. I already have stuff backed up anyway.
Well I switched to Google launcher and I am now getting one that say Google has stopped gonna try to clear the cache see what happens

It's definitely weird that several people started having the same problem at the same time. I was hoping the cache/data clearing would help though.
Please let everyone know your results after a factory reset. I hate suggesting that since it's what customer service reps always suggest (they know nothing except what's on their computer screen), but I do think it'll fix the issue. As for what caused the problem in the first place: I'm stumped.

I decided not to factory reset yet and instead try to narrow this down. For me, I noticed that every time I rebooted, Weatherbug would force close, then eventually touchwiz would later on. Cleared everything on that app and the phone seems to be running much smoother, and so far, no force closes on anything for over an hour. Crossing fingers.
Does anyone else here use Weatherbug?
Started having the same issues recently.
Started having the same issues recently... just about a 4 o five days.... mu touch wiz don't respond and its freeze !!!
Crashing for me too.
I've tried everything to fix this error. Factory reset doesn't work. It has been going on for the last 3 days. The only apps installed are facebook, fb messenger and chrome. I'm guessing one or more app updates is causing touch whiz to crash.
I am finding it does not matter what launcher you use it will crash although mine seems to do it more when I am exiting Facebook
