No system update
I just flashed Android Revolution HD 31.0 ROM on Samsung Galaxy Note II. I noticed that there is no system update/software update option. Is that normal?

Bad signal after install new Rom
After reading a lot about how to install a new Rom i finally did it and installed the Revolution HD 31.0 on my Samsung Note 2.
Everything went well and the gsm started properly.
But i have some problems with the network signal which i think is worse than before the update.
And this summer i was on holiday in Greece, i had no signal at all. So i couldn't use my phone for a call or sms.
Another problem is that i find my phone a little slow sometimes.
When i start a app, i looks like it hangs for 2 or 3 seconds before the app starts. This is not always.
What should i do ? Reinstall the Rom ? Install latest bootloader ?
Thanks.

On AHD 31, there is Samsung Appstore and all Samsung app bundle like (Samsung Note, Samsung Video Editor, Photo Editor....) is missing. Also the battery icon on notification bar is quite smaller than the other icon, and the space between wifi icon and mobile signal icon is quite big.

wi-fi does not work
i am sure someone had similar problem and someone else answered but i dont understand those abbreviations , please bear with me
i had rooted 4.1.2 stock and it was laggy lately
so i installed cwm and flashed revolution rom 31.0
it installed correctly but wi-fi does not work
i see there is a mention of this and a fix . (by the way i have the latest bootloader, i checked, the one with n something. )
at developer post it says flash this no detail. how to flash. After some reading i assume i have to flash this with odin , not cwm.
i downloaded odin and the fix but now i dont know which line in odin i should choose the file ( bootloader, pda, phone csc..)
can you help please , i am on download mode, odin open and waiting for a response.

No wonder this ROM is the best. Thankyou so much for the stability!

f2fs
Hey, i ve been trying to convert my system, data, cache from ext4 to f2fs an I did not find any complete guide. Maybe it ill help someone. I ve done it with latest TWRP (2.8.3.0)
Next 2 steps do only If you want a clean start:
1. wipe all partitions, instal ARHD (while the partitions are still formated as ext4) and reboot !
2. reboot back to recovery and flash desired kernel with f2fs support (in my case i flashed Agni kernel v4.3.3_R3)
ARHD's default kernel doesnt support f2fs, so if you wont flash kernel with f2fs support, you will end up with bootloop
!!! make sure you flash a kernel with f2fs support !!!
4. backup your device to your external sd-card or else your data will be probably deleted.
5. In recovery go to Wipe-> Advanced Wipe -> select "Cache" and select "Repair or Change File System", click Change File System-> F2FS.
6. Repeat last step for "System" and "Data" (depends on you which partitions you want to convert)
7. Go to Settings->"Use rm -rf instead of formatting" or esle restore proces will reformat to ext4
8. Restore all backed up partitions, reboot and you are good to go.

Other flashing methods
Hi, I'm new to android world and specially custom ROMs. I was trying to update my galaxy note 2 to the latest version provided by Samsung but for some reason the OTA update couldn't be done. So after some googling I found this ROM which is exactly what I want. The original functionality with extra features and performance optimizations. Now I decided to install this ROM but I wanted to know if I can flash with adb tool or not.
That's because I don't have a SD card and I cannot use "install zip from sdcard" because after wiping the zip will be deleted. I have already installed ClockworkMod recovery, and once installed a CyanogenMod ROM with sideload command (using adb). Can I use this process instead of the provided steps in the first post ?
Thanks,
Ashkan

How much is the average battery life with this ROM? Heard this is the most stable ROM for Note II. Well done, developer
Currently using DN4 ..

Well, from my experience and usage I can tell you that this is indeed the most stable rom for me
I've been using custom roms on my note 2 for about year and a half, and I somehow always return to this one
As for battery life, I'd say it's a bit above all roms for me. It was 30-45 minutes more than I was getting on DN4. Flash it and see for yourself, I think you won't regret it ^^

Quick question - My phone is running Android 4.4.4, I believe this ROM will run Android 4.4.2. Is it okay to downgrade? Will there be any issues?
Thanks in advance!

Expected battery life improvement?
Hi Mike,
Finally got fed up with the stock rom and rooted my note 2. Was able to remove a few unneeded apps. So far my battery now lasts 7 hours with moderate use. Up from 5.5-6hours.
I'm installing your
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (N7100)
KitKat (Android 4.4.2)
Download Android Revolution HD 31.0
After installing, will I still need "power savings" apps such as Go Power Master Pro and Greenify?
Will I expect an increase in battery life? If so, by how much more?
Djackal

After few weeks using the ROM, everything is fine. But yesterday suddenly stuck and now it became like this already:

Thanks.

Yes. Place the recovery.img on your sdcard root. Open a terminal emulator and type "su flash_image recovery /sdcard/xxx.img". (Note: The x's are the name of the recovery as some may hold a different name. If not on the sdcard root folder, specify the folder /sdcard/xxx/xxx.img!)

For setting up ADB see What is ADB (above) logcat allows us to log what the OS is doing, and possibly offer information if things are not working. its quite simple to create but may be difficult for most to understand. This is a tool a Developer may ask for in detecting issues your device may be encountering.
To use logcat
Code:
adb shell
logcat
To logcat to a certain file do
Code:
adb shell
logcat -d > /sdcard/whatevertexfileyoulike.txt

[SIZE=+1]Q16: How do I get the best out of my Rom?[/SIZE]
Depending on what Rom you choose. Once you go to the "THEME" sections there are many more mods for your selected rom. Always try different Roms to fit your liking.
[SIZE=+1]Q17: Titanium Backup ask if I would like to restore my original ID Code after I flash roms, what should I do.?[/SIZE]
Do to the mass amount of custom roms, some internel phone setting get changed by default. You should always restore ID codes and native handset information when possible.
[SIZE=+1]Q18: How loud is too loud?[/SIZE]
That realistically is up to you. Rule of thumb, if your sounds is distorted, even the least bit, then lower the settings. Distortion is a warning sign, and prolonged use can damage your hardware.
[SIZE=+1]Q19: I have about 4gb of data missing from internal storage I cannot find. Where is it?[/SIZE]
Recovery uses a large amount of data for backups. TWRP saves by default, backups to the /sdcard/twrp or /sdcard/0/twrp directory. Make sure you delete old or unused backups.
[SIZE=+1]Q20: I need to return my rooted phone for a replacement. Does returning to stock work?[/SIZE]
Yes. Follow the instructions on the forum for unrooting and flash the Odin stock file. If you flash an earlier version, make sure to accept updates to get your phone back to factory. Knox 0x1 will affect rather your warranty will be honored
[SIZE=+1]Q21: What is so different about the Galaxy Note 3 that should get me to upgrade from the Note 2?[/SIZE]
Other then the hardware and screen upgrades, you can read the the 45+ Ultra-Advanced Features of the Note 3 found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441935 Thread by Ipsuvedi
[SIZE=+1]Q22: While restoring using Titanium Backup, I get constant FC's. How do I fix this?[/SIZE]
The TB Team is working on a fix for the SELinux links in the new system. For the time being, everytime you restore apps using TB you will need to run TB Restore Fixer found here
[SIZE=+1]Q23: Does restoring in recovery break my phone? I fear the "brickloops"!?[/SIZE]
Not with TWRP version 2.6.3.5 <<CLICK - problems existed with earlier versions but basic restores (boot, system, data) are now working as they should. Thanks to dwitherell for the Q&A

Nice FAQ.
I knew the answer to every question but one, so hey, I learned something. Namely, I had no idea that the "flash_image" util was so prevalent. I assumed it was a touchwiz-only thing, but I just checked and it's also present on my CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM as well. Doing a "flash_image recovery /sdcard/twrp_foo.img" is certainly easier than having to remember the correct partition to manually 'dd' to (though still not as easy as just using GooManager).
One other Q for the FAQ:
Q: Is it too big?
A: No.
Does it perfectly work with AT&T's network? (including LTE)
Yes!

It's the annoying space-wasting notification that TouchWhiz shows when you have NFC enabled. Stock Android doesn't do that.

Tried a few times, but to no avail. I tried playing a few games, but they lag. It's only a small game (2048 puzzle game) worked perfectly on stock rom. Also I get a message every time I boot up "Sim card added, please reboot to connect to network" and I reboot and get it again
------------------
Edit: the buttons hardly work either. They stop lighting up most times and lag when they are pressed

I tried BS and i have the same problem as the other users of trend. No Wi-FI turning on. This is a kernel related problem.so i don't think it will be solved soon.A possible fix i think it would be to build the cm kernel again this time using the trend modules not the ace2x and this way i think we will have wifi working on trend too. Do not ask me why i dont do that because i really don't know.Sorry.. I think the only one who can help us is @SeannyM because he ported the cm kernel to our device.I would make the kernel if i would have a tutorial on how to do it.

That's strange. My only suggestion is to completely reinstall the ROM. Are you experiencing performance issues on CyanogenMod 11 as well?

Making sure I'm doing this right
Hi all,
I just want to make sure I'm doing this right. I'm relatively new to rooting. Updating the firmware / radio is something I've never done before, so I'm just going to guess at the information I need to provide. Sorry if I leave anything out.
I have an m7vzw running SlimKat version 8.0. It's android 4.4.4 and the baseband version is 1.12.41.1112_2. My phone is S-OFF and I have TWRP installed. Can I just keep SlimKat installed, download the latest firmware / radio.zip in the second post, and follow the fastboot instructions there to update? Or do I need to revert to stock, then update, then return to custom?
Thanks so much for your help.
(I just realized it made a new thread for me. The post I'm referring to is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485319)

Yes, it has been discussed in that thread. When you flash firmware only, you do not need to change roms. I would personally do a "fastboot erase cache" command before rebooting into system after firmware flash

Awesome. I just wanted to get another opinion because I found some instructions elsewhere that said it was fine and some that said it would brick my phone, etc... Anyway, I really appreciate the help. I'll clear the cache too like you suggested.
Thanks again!

We will have to wait for HTC to release the next version of sense.
I am having issues flashing the firmware. I flash the firmware as directed in the thread and flash 5.28.605.2 through Fastboot. Fastboot appears to work as the bar fills up to the last 1/10th of the progress bar. After that the instruction is to use Fastboot reboot bootloader From there I reboot the phone.
When I reboot back into the Bone Stock ROM after flashing the firmware it looks like the firmware remains as the 4.10.605.3 version in the "about" page of the phone. It does not update to 5.28.605.2
Can anyone help me?
Reboot to the bootloader / hboot screen and read the text there. OS-######.
Any way to disable one Mic? It seems one of mine is broken and it is not in warranty anymore. I'd just need for calls, elsewhere it's working. Thank you.
Hi guys,
I'm a new here and I have some questions about updating. Sorry for stupid questions. I've red many instructions and now in my mind mixed all of them. )
I could't find full instruction for updating (HTC One M7 from Verizon), step by step. Always all instructions begins from the middle, missing many things.
I have used HTC One M7 m7lvw from Verizon with Android 4.4.3
I'd like to update up Lolilop 5.02 (6.22.605.3_M7_WL_L50_SENSE60_MR_Debloated.zip) from Santod040.
But I confused about steps of updating. There are a lot different things, I'm just lost.
Steps to upgrade firmware and ROM (as I understood):
1) Nandroid. What is it? No information on first page. I guess this is saving your own info but not sure. If I don't have my own info can I skip this step?
2) Unlock bootloader with custom recovery. How? No information on first page. I guess TWRP 2.7.0.8 or newer is related to this section.
3) Wipe everything. For what? If I'm going to install new ROM why I need to wipe? And it doesn't info how to wipe.
4) Update firmware (downloaded: m7vzw_6.22.605.3_LP_Firmware_NoBoot-NoRecovery-combo.zip). The instruction is clear on page 1.
5) Update ROM (downloaded: 6.22.605.3_M7_WL_L50_SENSE60_MR_Debloated.zip). Flash the ROM and reboot. How? No info.
If I did mistakes (for sure I did) please correct me.
Thank you.

Hi Guys,
In your opinion what is the best ROM for M7WLV? I have HTC One from Verizon with version 4.4.3 and it has never updated. Now I'm trying to figure out what version of Android to choose for updating. I don't know how will work the phone with new updates. I mean may be it will work with low speed, lags, loose stability, and etc. Could you please to share with your experience to make me right choice. Thank you.

The FAQ thread has the answer for you. It also has other odd frequent questions asked. It having slow downs lag and instability is because of the apps you install or maybe power saver enabled? My wife's phone is stock and only had slow downs with apps that clogged her phone's memory up. I didn't know which did it and just factory reset the thing and the lag was gone.

Installation Sequence
Hi Dev,
i want to ask something regarding installation sequence, because why i didn't see DN4 N7105 donwload link. just saw DN4 N7100 only. which mean..
1. download DN4 ROM, update and ADDON.
2. flas DN4 ROM
3. flash Update,
4. flash ADDON.
it is correct??
ykkfive said:
hi all
a long story but i will keep it short
i finally made the DN4 (android 4.4.4), originally created by the eteam for N7100, to work on our Note 2 LTE. this is only an addon patch that allows you to make phone calls, surf the internet, etc as we used to be with our note 2 lte but now a bit different - we can do that with DN4!
i am glad that i can share this to all 7105 users finally. Enjoy!
DISCLAIMER:
THIS IS NOT a standalone port or mod, nor a complete rom but REQUIRES DN4 installation pack from the eteam
this addon only serves as an extra patch for having DN4 works on the note 2 lte model and nothing else
all materials contained in this addon are subject to the sharing policies laid down by the eteam, thus any reproduction or redistribution is prohibited
the inclusion of the kernel, AGNi pureSTOCK N7105, as well as the new mali drivers in this addon is permitted by the original developer psndna88, please consult him before using it for other purposes
due to the sharing policies, i can only provide support for what i have shared. please visit eteam or psndna88's thread for other suppports
i cannot make any other modifications or additional features which may compromise eteam's sharing policies
NOTE:
you need to download DN4 installation files/updates from the eteam's DN4 thread as base files for this addon
only tested on my note 2 lte GT-N7105, i cannot guarantee this works for other note 2 lte variants as well and no support will be provided
only tested with AGNI pure stock kernel v4.3 (included)
since the DN4 installation file contains a 7100 kernel, i included a 7105 kernel which will overwrite the 7100's when installing the addon
an updated google search is included as well since the one comes from DN4 causes FC (could be too old), so that u wont find that repeating FC anymore
since bootloader downgrade is not possible, i have only tested with a 4.4.2 bootloader which i upgraded weeks ago
you are probably free to choose a modem of your choice, however, it is suggested to keep your current modem if in doubt
CWM recovery is strongly recommended, not tested with twrp

individual/feature requests (i will listen, but no promise)
request/mod that compromise the sharing policies
KNOWN PROBLEMS:

install the DN4 installation file, DO NOT REBOOT after the installation is finished
install all DN4 update files (can be done within the same recovery session), and DO NOT REBOOT your phone yet
choose to install the DN4 Addon file, it will patch the system and other necessary files, as well as a 7105 kernel for you
once finished, reboot the phone and enjoy

Keep getting unknown baseband and imei. Flashed Dn4 then all updates then finally the ykkfive patch. Got a black screen while using cwm, flashed R3 Kernel.......boots up fine but no baseband still. anyone know what I can do to get my baseband and imei back......really love this rom.
Thanks.
is there a way to get it working with i317?
Greetings from Estonia. I have same problem with my N7105GSMH. All ok but no baseband. Also new open patch not working for me. My last hope is this PM Tested with TWRP 2.8.1.0, Philz touch 6.48 and latest CWM. With extracted patch files to update 5b and without. And I use latest AGNI R3. What I must do? No Baseband!
no baseband
Thankyou indeed for the addon. Its great. Boots perfectly but no baseband... i am on tmobile note2 ...
Works great other then the obvious. Throw all the updates in order 1-5b into the main rom zip file then the patch and flashed rom and latest AGNi r3. Only had a few force close of bandservice on boot and gestureservice when incoming call. I have AT&T i317 just didn't change build.prop. Great job @ykkfive been wanting 4.4.4 for awhile.
I also used twrp 2.8
Excused me but this thread and the official thread are mostly full with issue from non n7105 users. The op has stated he only tested on n7105 so maybe different thread is better, I have problem finding success feedbacks from n7105

One more, I read something about GPS not working? I have n7105.
can i also receive a pm for the proper installation of DN4 for N7105?
I also get an unknown baseband after flashing all the required files
Did you flash patch after all the updates and get the black screen?
Sent from AT&T i317 DN4
Cam someone help me out? I tried everything from the original thread but i still dont get baseband. I use TWRP 2.8. I dont think the OP's patch works on me. (Tried both OPEN and device specific zips)
Still no baseband
I've tried everything with no luck

sorry for late reply guys, coz new posts in this q&a section are not shown in the main list, sorry about that
for the black screen problem, either the kernel or the lib files were not patched to the system folder properly, normally happens when u extracted my addon zip and put the files into dn's zip. this made the scripts for patching missing during the installation
for baseband problem, similar to the reason above. but u can try to restore your efs and modem from nandroid backups in the recovery
tell me if there's any problem
also, for all those having baseband or sim problem, please check the file named telephony-common.jar under /system/framework/
it should be:
size: 986014 bytes
md5sum: 9fe030edbb6a69d14eb25571d8a30997
thanks
thank you for everything
i will try.
I'll let you know
Followed installation guide in OP, read all posts and tried many other ways, currently stuck with Black screen after displaying "Samsung Galaxy Note 2" screen.
Can I have a PM of working installation from thereian2? Thanks!
first:
create zip update 5b+addon
Full wipe
install rom+ update1-2-3-4+new zip update 5b+addon
flash and black screen
reflash whit kernel = boot but no sim card
Nandroid change nothing
my folder in system / framwork /telephony.jar is 2.44mo
Why my Model number SM-N910C
I don't understand.

Thumbs up
MD ROM issue
stock kernel doesn't work with m919n custom one works fine any way to get stock to work
adb issues
Anyone else getting this or have I done something foolish? I obviously have root and it's working, but I can't push via adb and I'm having trouble writing to the extSdCard even though the ROM includes the fix.
$ adb remount
remount failed: Permission denied
$ adb root
adbd cannot run as root in production builds
adb shell

I really need some help here.
I have I337 GS4 on T-Mobile. I have had tried numerous T-Mobile TW based ROMs from 4.2 upto 4.4.2 and they have worked fine.
Now I have connections issues on 4.4.4 such as this one. I really want my phone to run this ROM but signal is completely lost after reboot and can't establish any connection with T-Mobile at all. I thought it was the T-Mobile 4.4.4 ROM issue so I tried MD v1.1 universal FNJ4 but it was giving me same no connection problem( tried both AT&T and T-Mobile on installation prompt but same lost connection issues).
It just works fine on KANGAPOP 5.0, 4.4 as well as SKYFALL. Connections are secure and smooth and stable on these ROMs right out of the box.
Does anyone know how I can fix the lost signal and have this ROM run on my i337? I have actually waited 14 months hoping iB4 would release T-Mobile based version that has WiFi calling yet I can not run this beautiful ROM on my phone yet due to this problem.

IR Blaster?
First off....Great Rom! I'm a addicted flasher and came back from Lollipop to this one.
Only problem I have is the IR Blaster seems to be not working.
I tried a bunch off apps but no go.....Can anyone tell me if theirs is working and with what app? Thanks!
Media_rw folder access in Titanium Backup?
Does anyone here use Titanium backup?
Is it all 4.4.4 ROMs, or just this one, where Titanium can no longer read the media_rw folder? It worked before on my last 4.4.2 ROM.
Looking at the media_rw folder access properties, it looks like it is properly set to r/w.
Using folders within this is the only way to get Titanium to 'protect' backups. It doesn't work if you point it to external SD storage any other way.
My phone isn't asking for a password on reboot or cold boot.
Settings: Screen lock with pin, lock after 10 minutes, power key instantly locks.

I have i337 on t-mobile and seems to be running fine. I have NC1 bootloader with safestrap 3.75 and rockratt NJ4 modem and NC1 modules. I have been using goldfinger v9 on the stock slot and testing many others on slot1. Just today I tried and posting from MD-NK2-TMO v1.3...was a little worried about the question for kernel but seems to be OK so far...crossing fingers

Thanks for the reply. Great info for those who have post-MDL bootloaders. I got a beta-patch from op and the problems gone now with 4.4 modem and MDL bootloader. Only problem that I encountered was with Softcard app or a NFC wallet for T-mobile. this app worked fine on cutom roms based on 4.4.2 or prior versions but I think its the modem related as the softcard worked fine on pre 4.4.4 T-mobile ROMs while on MDL modem. More testing needs to be done I guess.
I'm having an issue where my sdcard get unmount by itself. Try a few kernels but still the same. Anyone else having save issue?

IR is not working
The infrared is not working, please fix the issue, thanks in advance
Change the kernel to stock or hispAsian. This has been mentioned in previous posts.
Sleep Of Death
First thing. ...great rom.....I've been using it as my daily driver for quite a while now. ...And I'm a flah-o-holic!
However, just recently I've been getting the sleep of death...I can't wake phone after it goes to sleep at times, I have to reboot to wake.
I have no plans on switching roms, so i may just dirty flash 1.3
Also, I am using Hispasian kernel 3.4.1.1
Any ideas for a fix?
Help with Rooting my SGS4 SGH-M919 UVUFNK2
Hi all,
yes I'm a nooby, and would like to root my T-Mobile phone to be able to customize it and use more favorable apps.
I have downloaded the MD 1.3 ROM, Odin, S4 drivers, Kies and I'm trying to follow the guide as much as possible
but it says to boot into custom recovery. Doesn't the phone need to be rooted first before I can Flash TWRP or CWM?
Sorry if I sound totally confused here..
If someone could please assist, I would be appreciative.
Thanks,
Michael

modem 2Xs flash
Just wanted to post this to help anyone out. If its been posted feel free to delete. Both times when I oden-ed nb4 to nh7 and then again from nh7 to nk2 it took two oden flashes to get modem to update with fw. Awesome ROM Dev!!!

This is how I do it. First I copy supersu. Zip to my phone. Then I flash twrp using oden with auto reboot not checked. When its done I pull the cord then pull the battery. Then manually go to recovery. Install SuperSU. Then reboot to system and start SU and it tries to kill Knox and update binary (normal). At this point you have a rooted phone with stock fw and a custom recovery ready for a costom ROM. But I think this Dev says in one of the latest posts you can just install twrp and install ROM and it will root.
