[Q] Default Sprint Configuration - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It's nice that it doesn't install the default sprint config automatically, but is there any way to remove the notification every time the phone restarts? I'm rooted, but would rather avoid installing it entirely if there's a way to disable that notification.

The note 4 is supposed to install the sprint apps at activation however mine did not and kept giving me that hands free activation notification and the only way to get them to install "and remove the notification" is to have sprint put your number back on your old phone and then to your new phone again.

Boost Mobile - Voicemail Notifier ver 131

If you're on Boost Mobile, you'll need the following application to get new voicemail notifications.
You need to keep the "Manual Voicemail Check" active in order for the program to stay in the phone's memory. Change the interval from 5 min to any other value but leave the rest of the default settings alone if you want this program to operate properly.
Apparently the Android system has a way of purging the memory and it will close your notifier after a while. It automatically closes all inactive programs.
Thanks for sharing this. I recently flashed the E4GT to Boost and didn't realize that native vm notification wouldn't work. This method works perfectly.
This works great. Thanks a ton.
Native voicemail for Boostmobile flashed phones is working with the patched el29 phone apk, you can either adb it or unzip it copy and paste it using root explorer, using root explorer will give you a fc error or system stop error immediately after the copy and paste, pull the battery wipe cache & dalvik cache then go to advance and fix permissions, reboot your phone congratulations you have working native voicemail, no need for voicemail notify unless your using an ics ROM, a patch for ics roms will be released when a official release is dropped by Sprint!

Since we have the source for ics now, have there been any new developments concerning voicemail notification for E4GT with ICS rom on boost mobile?
Thank you!!!!

I just want to say thank you so much, I was having problems with my epic, I was not getting calls through and no voicemail notification my mom wanted to kill me for not returning her calls lol. Installed this and it crashes my system immediately on boot -- hard freezes and then shuts down. Any ideas before I wipe my data?
If it helps, I'm on Calk N Venum's FF18 ROM.
Update: Went back to Calk's 3.0 (Gingerbread) and installed the patched Phone.apk. Native voicemail rawks!
Couldnt we just take the phone.apk from the leaked boost mobile rom and use that considering it 4.0.4 and my rom is currently 4.0.4?
What about android 4.1.1

[Q] How do you disable/remove AT&T Address Book?

Every time I open my address book (or at least the first time after a reboot) I get this AT&T address book verifying subscriber status popup that takes a while to complete. I have no interest in ever using that service so how can I disable the check and just stop using it at all?
I'm guessing that the answer might be root and remove bloatware but I'm hoping there's a way to just turn it off without rooting. Don't worry I'll be rooting sooner than later but for now I'd like to just get rid of that annoying delay.
I havent got my phone yet, should have it within the next 3 hours, but have you looked through the settings, and opened up the AT&T address book app and checked the settings within that app itself?
Yeah. Not seeing any settings for it or actually any AT&T Address Book App at all.
Yeah i finally got mine a few hours ago, but i dont see any options to disable it either.
I'm guessing this will be one of those annoyances that only root can salve.
Not sure about the s3 but on skyrocket I checked out the programs.. scrolled down to sync and disabled..
Rebooted and never got the error again.

Where exactly did you "check out the programs.. scroll down to sync and disable"?
I don't see anything about AT&T address book anywhere.
I have the same issue. Every so often when I go into my phonebook I have to wait for it to check the AT&T Address Book. So now there is a huge lag to access my contacts.
Why do carriers think they should be mobile phone designers? I wish they'd just leave the designing to the people who are good at it.
Over 10 years of buying my own phones out of contract for a reason. I've only had the phone for a few hours. I wonder what other lame surprises await....
Ok, I seemed to have fixed it. Not sure which action it was because I was just doing everything I could to make it stop.
First thing I did was to turn off AT&T phonebook in my online account. Log into www.attwireless.com. Under MyAT&T tab, mouse over "Wireless" and select "Usage & Recent Activity". Scroll down to "Members Shared Usage" and click on "view details of the number you're working on. Scroll down to "Minute Detail" and right under that is "Phonebook" with the option to turn it on or off.
At the same time I was doing a lot of flailing around in the the phone. I was Settings page in Contacts and I deleted all the AT&T BS contacts it auto inserted into the phone.
I rebooted and it stopped trying to access that AT&T phonebook. Hope this helps.
1. system setting
2. app manager
3. click on the phone book
4. force stop
Now it will stop and the icon will be removed from the app list. You can do this for all of the apps that will not uninstall till we get root.

In step 3 when you say "the phone book" do you mean the app called Contacts that has an icon that looks like a phone book? When I disable that app my phone dialer icon disappeared making it so I couldn't dial out. Had to re-enable it.
Otherwise, I dont have an app named Phone Book.

No.
My AT&T and YP.
I was trying to disable the AT&T Address Book as well. I found out you disable AT&T Messages. Works like a charm.

I can confirm this method mentioned by Phoenyx worked. For me at least. No more AT&T Addressbook confirmation dialog when I go to Contacts. :good:

Yes, I just tried this as well instead of what I posted earlier and it also worked. I didn't know there was a phonebook option in my online AT&T account.

I just turned off the AT&T phonebook as you described and the pop-up goes away. Didn't need to do anything else.
Thanks!

Hi I just got my phone the same thing happened. I let it load (the second time it happened the first time I hit cancel). I got a page that was basically an ad for att's backup service, I scolled down to the bottom and clicked on close (or whatever the button did say). Now when I start contacts no more "checking subscriber status etc".
I have not rebooted yet but will and if it comes back I'll post, if it doesn't then at least on my Galaxy SIII it was a one time event.

I may not be understanding your issue correctly, but have you tried setting the default texting app to the the Google App in Settings/More/Default SMS App?
I did try that also compared the settings to the both htc one M8s' we have.
I finally just did a factory reset and rechecked the settings and ticked the stock messaging app and so far its fine..
Weird one as it was checked before the reset..
I'd love to get all of this extra Verizon "gumbo" off these phones, I can't stand how much garbage they load on them.
Root and uninstall that junk app. I did.
I didn't think anything was available for the htc one m8 on Verizon to do so yet?
Verizon Messaging can be disabled under the App Manager. You can also, using a custom launcher, drag the icon to the top of your screen under App Info, and disable it there. Same goes for their VVM and Caller ID apps.

Visual voicemail update failure, on MOAR ROM

Visual voicemail keeps notifying me of a "mandatory update," which keeps failing when I try to update. The notification keeps popping up. On MOAR 2.1b. Anyone else have this issue?

Is it a Samsung app? Does it want to update from Galaxy Apps. If so it wants to update to the 64 bit version because this is a port from a 64 bit phone.
You can go to app manager and turn off it's notifications.
Hope that works for you. Never tried it myself.

No, it's just part of the bloatware added by Sprint. I'm wary of turning off notifications as it notifies me of pending voicemail. May just use the Xposed NotifyClean module to turn off just that particular notification unless someone can suggest a fix. Thx

Personally before I flash a rom VVM is one of the things I remove. Damn notifications drive me crazy. Missed call notifications are enough to alert me to a possible voicemail. I use the old stock voicemail app. It's disabled by default so I enable (defrist) it for 1 tap access to voicemail . Just my preference.

How To Keep Blocked numbers From Showing in notifications

hello all. this is just a little tutorial i use to keep blocked numbers from showing in notifications even though i already blocked them. used to be a very annoying thing that i hated that samsung didnt have an easier way to keep them out of my notifications area.
1.) go to settings, then go to apps
2.) click on the 3 dot menu in upper right corner and select show system apps
3.) scroll down to blocked numbers storage and click that
4.) click on notifications then turn it off.
now when you block a number it will automatically go to voicemail like normal but wont bother you with a notification. the only side effect is when you go to your recent calls in phone app, you still see all the blocked calls. no way around that. but that doesnt really bother me. hope this helps.

With OneUI in android 10 they seemed to have taken several steps backwards, the number blocking feature requires the use of an online 3rd party service which is complete and utter bollox. All previous android phones I have used alowed you to block numbers locally via the phone app - seriously wtf samsung.
