[Q] "Kimchee" ringtone keeps ringing. On my LG G3 for Sprint - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So this problem I have had I am assuming since the first day I bought the phone. Everytime I try to change the ringtone, no matter what ringtone I change it to, it somehow always defaults to this "kimchee" ringtone. It would sometimes ring to the ringtone I change it to but for the most part it would ring to the "kimchee" ringtone. The odd thing about it is that I can't find this "kimchee" ringtone anywhere on my phone. It's nowhere to be found, so I dunno how it's ringing to that ringtone. I am not rooted so I can't look too deep in the system files. I've tried a hard reset and clearing the media storage cache and none of those options work. Clearing the cache worked for a day and then somehow went back to the "kimchee" ringtone when I get calls. Anyone have this happen to them or have a fix? Thanks.

No one else has run into this problem?

I read your post yesterday and to be honest, it was rather amusing reading your post. I don't really know how you got this kimchee ringtone. By the way u know what kimchee mean?? Its a traditional Korean side dish which is chilly pickled cabbage lol... Maybe u got that ringtone specially made for you by LG??

Desire doesn't remember my ringtone!

Hi,
I have an issue with my ringtone. I want to use an mp3 ( <30 secs) as ringtone, however when i set it as my ringtone, after a few calls it restores the old one.
I expect the original ingtone (also an mp3) to be the cause of the problem. This was my ringtone before upgrading to Froyo and after the upgrade it was still my ringtone, but it is NOT visible in the ringtone list! It seems that somehow, this set ringtone overrules whatever i do. I completely deleted the old ringtone from my sd card, and now when my somebody calls, i simply hear nothing. So when i set another ringtone, it gets overwritten by my old, non existing ringtone!
Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
Do you have any programs installed that lets you choose the ringtone? I think there are few that lets you do it and might be messing things up...

[Q] Ring Once Only

I posted this the other day. It never showed up? Did someone delete it?
Anyways - My phone just seems to ring only once when I call it. It will continue to ring through but only without ringing. If I put vibrate as a choice it will vibrate but other wise it just is silent and rings until voicemail.
I don't have a profile setup for ring that I can see.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Noticed this myself, it doesn't seem to loop the ring tone but will continue to vibrate

+1 same here
I think the problem may lie with the audio file. It seems to loop with the default ringtones but not with custom. May need to set the audio files to loop?
What kind of audio format are you using?
In a German board some guy had this issue with .ogg and could fix it by using . mp3 instead.
Haven't checked by self cause I always pick up the phone instantly.
I am using the the standard ring tones with the Nexus. It's called Digital Phone.
I have tried all the rings tones and they all do the same exact thing. Ring once and then silence or If the setting is changed to Ring and Vibrate then it will vibrate..
Update: I did notice something after playing around with it a little longer. Even though one of the included ring tones is Ditigal Phone and many others. There are many tones that start from D-Z do not loop when you are testing the tones. Any ringtone from Digital Ring Tone and below do not loop in playback.
So that must be the case for me at least. Anyone test it out and confirm?
When playing ringtones to see if they loop - I can't get anything from Digital RingTone and below to play in a loop for testing.

no ringtone on phone calls?

So kind of a weird issue that I've never experienced even on custom Roms. My phones ringtone has stopped working. It will vibrate and always receives calls, I have notification sounds and alarms work just fine but the phone never actually rings it only vibrates. I've tried all the setting thru the quick menus and digging thru the settings. I've tried changing ringtones, using different ringtones, vibration on and off and I can't figure it out. This is a recent problem as the the ringtone did work before but has stopped since. Any help would be appreciated.

get zedge from play store get any ringtone download then set as default ringtone see if that works
I'm pretty sure that I've been having issues with it not ringing properly when in my pocket. Either it's not ringing at all or it's so quiet it's inaudible. I just turned off "pocket mode" and "quiet ring on pickup" in sound settings. Haven't got the chance to test whether one of those settings is the cause yet, but I have a feeling one of them is.

Anyone else have their music/ringtone disappear?

I put one mp3 on my phone. This is the second or third time this has happened now. It just disappears. Where does it keep going? I had no idea I had an incoming call because the phone was going do dee doot some stupid internal ringtone when I have a kick ass song of my friends bands that's supposed to play.
I don't have the song with me because I am at work, so I have to remote into my home computer, send the file to myself.
Seems to disappear out of nowhere too. The problem is I might not notice when it happens right away since I don't receive phone calls very often. I might only receive 2 or 3 calls a month, if that.
But I can say I've not changed anything.. only really install a few games.
Does the ringtone appear in the list of available ringtones after changing? Make sure you put the ringtone in your 'ringtone' folder in the internal storage.

Sometimes won't ring on incoming calls, just vibrate

Sometimes when receive incoming call, phone won't ring, just vibrate. That's happening randomly, sometimes it's ok for 2 days and then start, sometimes on every couple of calls, for 2-3 calls it's not ringing and then start to ring normally again... Of course, I'm not in silent mode, volume is set to max, when enter settings and select ringtone, it plays fine...
This start when I upgrade to Lollipop, on stock rom and custom roms, tried 4-5 roms, all Sense. I run RUU for couple of times, for clean start of new rom, my firmware is up to date, but it happens every time, so I think it is Lollipop problem, not rom.
Is anyone experienced this problem too, or know some solution?
Thanks.
So no one have this problem? For everyone phone rings fine every time?
Try to restart the phone. It will solve the problem for you. My wife's phone had same problem and that's what I did.
Yes, I restart the phone and the problem re-apear shortly, so that is not the solution.
m8 problem
I have the same fcking problem for over 2-3 months now and I think it's lollipop problem, it's very annoying every day I got dozens of missed calls ...i don't know what to do, did you find anything ?? Thanks
Did you set some ringtone which came with Lollipop, or some of yours personal ringtones?
I always use my ringtone, simple mp3 file, but I select one of pre-installed ringtone about 3 weeks ago and have no problem since. Don't know why, but it seems that Lollipop have some problems with some mp3 files. Those files plays perfectly well in any music app on phone, but if you set it like ringtone, sometimes ringing and sometimes not.
I found some program that helps to "convert files to Android-playable" so I convert my mp3 ringtone with that program (still mp3, but larger size) and will see if that helps.
I have done it today so must pass week or two to be sure if it helps or not, will post here.
So, my converted ringtone didn't work. Then I tried to put the mp3 file in to /system/media/audio/ringtones where the other ringtones are, but that didn't work either. I noticed that most of stock ringtones are in .flac format, so I converted my ringtone to .flac and it worked! My phone rings normally for 2 weeks now.
So, if anyone have problem with their custom ringtones, just convert them to .flac format with any sound converter on PC and that will be fine.
Ok I will do it your way, just to inform you, I did a factory reset for nothing same as before everything is working like, notification sound, message sound, music player but still no incoming sound, this is a really fcked up thing, it's nothing to repair the software is fcked up I guess,I am so dissapointed
Just convert your ringtone to .flac format with any free converter (ask Google), and it will be fine. For me, it's working over the month now.
The ringtone sound is fine now(tried it your way), but now I have another problem with mic, when someone tries to call me they can't hear me only on speaker mode, really mad now X(.
It might look silly, but try to make G calibration (Settings>Display & gestures>G-sensor calibration)
