Battery Life Observations - very good! - Sony Smartwatch 3

SO I have had the SW3 for about 4 days now and the battery life is excellent! Here are my results so far
- Day 2- Took off charger at 7 am, some e-mails, texts, 4 mile (35 minute) run with GPS and Bluetooth on watch, by 9 pm, I had around 45% left
- Day 3 - Off charger at 7 am, some emails, texts, no workout, by 9pm had around 65%
- Day 4 - 7 am off charger, lots of voice interactions, music for 1 hour, 9pm at 59%
Update
- Day 5 Morning: 7 am off charger, noon, with 3 emails, 1 call, 5 texts checked, battery at 86%
- Day 5 Full Day: 7 am off charger, 10pm, 25 emails, 10 texts, 3 calls, battery at 57%
I am sure if you just use it for normal emails, basic usage and not the GPS/Bluetooth music, this will easily go 1.75-2 days. Plus with more tweaks from google, I expect this only to get better

Thanks for your interesting remarks, I'm receiving mine tomorrow
What do you think about the accuracy of the SW3 GPS compared the GPS in your phone?. My Nexus 5 is accurate enough but only when I hold it in my hand... Once I put it in a pocket I get at least 10% more distance in Endomondo due to all the zigzagging.

I just checked my tracks and I have 4 saved runs (3-5miles each). They are pretty spot on GPS wise and as good as my garmin FR620 running watch. The Garmin locks to the sattelites much faster (10-15 seconds), while the sony takes 20-30 seconds. The biggest thing at the moment is the lack of app support...I need something with speed and laps...tracks only has time and distance.

Off at 8am, at 3pm is 86% with regular use. Going to try it overnight and see how long I really can get

It is better than my moto x, so the driving force will be my phone that needs a charge first.

So how did you fare? Or is it still going? I'm interested as I'm on the fence for this watch as well...

24 hour report....
Off charger at 8am, normal usage, (calls, texts, voice), at 24 hour mark it was at 50%. . I did put it on night stand at night (off wrist) , but pretty good to me. I imagine you could easily get 36-40 hours on this until you charge it on the second night after work .
On another test, it seems music drains the battery at around 10% an hour if Bluetooth streaming.

I sleep with the watch and charge it at the same time every day for about 20mins and it's at 50% in average - So seems reasonable to expect 48h of battery.

I sleep and run with it and only throw on charger when in shower and never have had it go below 30% yet. GPS will bring down much faster but quickly charges back up

After a day of heavy usage, showing it off, playing with it, using voice commands and a bit of navigation I had 48% battery after 08:00 to 22:40.

Mine can only last about 14 hours....

Noticed that since a couple of days the battery use increased drastically (wouldn't last 24h now). I just upgraded my Phone firmware - not sure if it's related.

Be carefull if you use watchface like F03 from Smartwatch Bureaux, some have severe bug and drain 10% bat by hour even if you do not use it on watchface on screen but it is installed on your watch.

My watch lost 20%+ over night (7hrs approx) in airplane mode. Anyone else monitored airplane mode loss?

The battery used to last about 2 days, but has recently dropped to less than one day.

what do you mean with "it last 2 days" ? Because at least this watch can last 36-38 hours. If you use it for 12 hour per day,ok, it last "2 days"; but if you are telling me that your sw3 live for 48 hour in a row :silly::silly::silly::silly: i cannot believe it x)

I got 36-44 in a row with normal use

You can see my posts on this thread about this. I have easily had 34+ hours on a charge without issue. I dont use facer and use itellicom watch faces, which do not eat up much battery. It is on always on mode (with ambient). I dont check my watch for the time that much and only for notifications.
I have these items installed
- Keep
- Calculator
- Runkeeper
- Mini maps
- Wear launcher
- Fit
- Audio recording
- Flashlight
- Play Music
I get maybe 10-20 emails a day on the watch, like 5-10 text messages and use it for running with runkeeper and playing music.

So how is autonomy for the Wildfire's battery?

Yes, people who have already received this unit, how is the battery life in a not very intensive use? It has something to do with the advertised 690 hours?
Thanks for the answers.

Thanks for the reply.
And how many days does it last?
depends on your usage, coverage etc
i get 2-4 days on the wildfire
and 1-2 days on the nexus one
OK. Tank you for the information.
2 days, not so many calls.
but maps, wifi, game a lot.more than 1 hours a day.
feels good than other smart phone i used.
I'm not getting anywhere near this sort of battery life. I've had the phone just over a week, and I'm having to charge it twice a day. I woke up this morning and the battery was on red. Previously I'd thought it was feral apps, but today it had been on for 16 hours and reported
cell standby 34%
phone idle 33%
android system 19%
open gps tracker 6%
display 6%
voice calls 2%
(that's not the only apps I'd been running. I'd also used Google Listen and Hapi podcast)
I've tried the battery tuning techniques, so my battery must be as good as it can be.
Any suggestions welcome
Edit: I realised that I also had "Guardian Anywhere" that had downloaded the complete contents of a newspaper overnight, but didn't show up on battery usage. I think that might explain things. More later, when I see how it behaves with that off
full charged , i was listening for 4 consecutive hours music because of a trip , then normal usage with 3-4 phone calls about 20 minutes a day , camera , wifi , games , texting . battery lasted for 3 days ! it was very good . when im having long lasting phone calls (about 2 hours a day) while using apps too , i have to charge it every 2 days .
WOWWWWW i only get a day of battery with my wildfire with not much usage, also what is autonamy?
I get 1-3 days worth of usage.
Turn off GPS, Wifi and 3G when your not using it, saves a lot of batterytime.
Lasts me about 3 1/2 - 4 days.
That would include a total of 40-60 mins of calling and texting.
No browsing, music, videos or even gaming.
Before I put ATK, my battery lasted 2 days with minimal use. Now I have almost 4 days with normal use.
what is ATK ?
My only guess is Android Task Killer.

To All the guys with 2-3 battery life, are u on stock Rom(2.1 or 2.2) or have you been using custom roms or some apps like setcpu?
My battery lasts just a day and I'm on official froyo.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk
Just made a test : I flash the RUU (2.1, the same original version I had with the phone) did not install anything, no wifi, no 3g, no call ... and did not even use it, just waited.
result : from full to empty battery : 11 hours.
at beginning it was like one day, then i just turned off background data (had fb and gmail sync) and now it is 2-3 days , with moderate usage, calls, msgs, net, fb...
If I really use it (music, apps, games, wifi, BT, 3G, text, phone calls) lasts ~2 days.
Battery life depends also on the network coverage. When it is poor, the phone will consume more energy (must give more power to antenna). 3G consumes less energy when you are near the BTS (transmitter), but more when you are far from BTS. So, when you live in the city - choose 3G, when you live in the countryside - choose 2G. Battery off your phone will live longer

i can use my phone for a week. i have this.
offline
backround data OFF
freememoryrecover app each time before i end using my phone i kills all processes.
no wifi or gps or any sort of connection, screen 11% light, when outside or in a car 30% is enough to see.
2.3.3 is good in battery managment. and battery saving mode ON!
i check if i missed any calls twice or once a day and theb back to OFFline mode.
one week can last this phone! screen max at 11% brightness MAX 20 minutes each
day. and itt last 1 week 4-7 days how u use it!

Sage advice if you don't want to get any of the benefits or joy the DHD can bring as a very powerful smartphone.
The alternative is to come to terms with the fact that the DHD has one of the smallest battery (1230mAH) to screen size ratios on the market so if you use it regularly you'll be doing well to last a full day.
eg. Downloading on a mobile network with a comfortable brightness outdoors or under office lighting can easily yield a current of 550mA, ie just over 2 hours constant use. Indoors with lower lighting on Wi-Fi this drops to about 200-250mA so more like 5-6 hours use.
I'm long past trying to squeeze days out of it because I'm much happier using and enjoying it to it's potential and just keep a few cheapy USB cables for charging scattered around home, office and in my car. I also bought a spare battery for less than £10 as a back-up (but have yet to use it due to just keeping my phone plugged-in when I can).
Trust me, you can drive yourself mad obsessing about the battery life when there's so much more you can be doing with the phone. Enjoy it and charge it often.
Just don't leave wifi, bluetooth and mobile data on when you're not using them.
I dont use Wifi, always on 3G, screen brightness to automatic, I listen about 2-3 hours of music, use Whatsapp and Ping alot sometimes make phonecalls/sms messages, surf the web for max 20 minutes, and I get about 1 day and 10 hours. My record once was 2 days and 17 hours xD

[Q] What's killing my battery?

Ok I'm starting this thread in hopes to track down whatever is eating my GN's battery.
As an indication, this is the typical usage my phone will endure during one workin day:
12.00AM - 07.00AM : Phone is on the charger, turned on but idle
07.00AM : unplug the charger around 7.00AM
07.40AM - 08.40AM : driving to work during which time a constant BT connection to my cars handsfree kit is sustained.
08.40AM - 05.30PM : very little active usage, it does however fetch mail from my company's mail server (exchange) which can be quite a lot (+- 50 emails/day)
05.30PM - 06.30PM : driving home, BT connection for one hour again
06.30PM - 12.00AM : perhaps more usage compared to the day because I tend to check email and some websites in the couch on it (when my EEE Transformer is outta reach )
My configuration has all options constantly turned on (GPS,BT,WiFi,NFC)
There might be some gaming but not more than 30 minutes per day (some angry birds while on the crapper )
I have the phone for one week now, and seldomly the battery will last until I go to bed (12.00AM usually) where I can plug it in.
Now I'm not the kinda guy who expects days out of a decent Android phone, but it should at least get me through one working day.
So to find out if this is just how it's gonna be, or if there's something wrong with my phone and/or Android in general, I've done the following:
I've followed this thread a bit and learned the key to testing battery usage is to charge it fully and then let it sit without charger idle overnight and see how much current usage (mA) can be seen.
I've used the 'Battery Monitor Widget' app to track my usage during the night.
This is what I've come up with so far:
1st night : Everything (BT,WiFi,GPS,NFC) turned on:

So what the heck happened here???
9521mA loss over 325 minutes, an average of 29.29538 mA per minute
My battery was nearly half depleted while having been idle for 5.5 hours!
I think for now I'll ignore this last run-down of the battery, but this at least proves that sometimes strange stuff happens beneath the hood which we (or at least I) cannot (yet) explain.
If I look in my battery usage screen it just says:
Screen : 37%
Android OS : 29%
All others below 10%
I'll keep updating this thread over the coming days and hopefully find the culprit...
I'm in the same situation, i'm a fairly heavy user. I have a iPhone4s also and i can get through a working day (lots of checking, push emails, RSS feeds etc) and the phone is on about 50% at the end of the day.
I've had my GN for a few days now and the battery is at 50% before lunch.. i'm probably using it less. Even compared to my Google Nexus one this phone is really crap for battery.
I'm running MCR Rom with the UV kernel and its still bad. SCreen is normally about 50-60% usage, Android OS is about 30-40%.
Really need to get this sorted as its hell.
You seem to have this issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20310279
I found if I have the Facebook app installed and logged in on my phone, my battery bites the dust.
Wouldn't even make it past noon and I remove from charger at 7am. It was bad, even after removed sync and notifications.
I just installed Friendcaster about a month ago, and i'ts been wonderful even since.. now i'm getting at the most 20hrs of battery.
I too also run corporate sync on my phone, but I tured the push off and just set it to like every hour or so. But yeah i think; next to bluetooth, facebook
is the most common killer of batteries on the nexus.

bringing up a 11 month old thread is awesome.
You spend 30 minutes sitting on the crapper? You don't live with females, do you?
Anyways, what is killing your battery is the screen and mobile internet usage.
Damn,I realized this thread is so old the guy probably died of old age by now.

Horrible Battery Life even after multiple restarts and resets

Hey guys,
I reset the Moto 360 multiple times, didn't install any apps any other than keep and wear battery stats and still have a horrible battery life. The Moto 360 is used very lightly, so only some Notifications and sometimes a voice command and I get a drain of about 5-6%/hour or even more... So when i charge the watch to 100% at 6:30 am it does;t even last till midnight even though I barely use it. And that with the black classic stock watchface !! I made a test and reset the device again and wanted to see how much it drained in the night when I'm not using it at all, and it was 3%/hour which is terrible considering that this is the drain that some users here get with light usage! I would be happy if the watch would last from 6:30 am till 2:00 am next morning and some people seem to get amazing battery life. So I'm thinking of returning the device and getting a new Moto 360 because I'm really getting desperate.. Any Ideas from you guys? :/

So it is also normal that it barery lasts 16 hours even though lots of people in the forum claim to get 48 hours(!!) so a 3 times longer battery life than I do ?
My average is 2.5 %/hour with moderate usage.
So you think I should return my watch? Because I don't get how u can achieve a battery life as great as yours. Maybe I got a bad device?

That's very difficult to answer. Currently I've installed additionally:
Facer
Calendar
File Manager Wear
Calculator
Triple game
Wear Battery Stats
Wear Mini Launcher
I use a Facer watchface ('Radiomir' with hour, minute, seconds, date and battery level), I don't play music, I do get around 60-80 notifications daily including those for breaking news, weather, emails from 2 accounts, workplace/home driving maps, I have disabled step-counter and ambient light mode, brightness is set to auto ...
Try "Advanced Task Manager" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=wear.taskman to see wich app/face is running on your watch. Wear launch itself many face even if you do not use them. If nothing is running.... but if not .....
I use this. It works pretty good. I get about 3-4% a hour!!!

Huawei Watch Battery life Thread

The battery life on the watch seems to be much better than my Urbane so far. I used it all day yesterday and I still had at least another day of use left. I still charged jt last night but I might try to see how long it will last before it dies.
Here it is with ambient mlde always on, WiFi on, and brightness set at 4.

WOW! Better than the urbane? I had the urbane, and was satisfied with batt life. My one concern with the huawei was the smaller batt.

The above should speak for itself. My Urbane was good but it was inconsistent some day I would end with 30% others I would have 60% doing this exact same thing. I'm only really on my full second day now but it still seems better overall. I've also noticed its a little faster which it shouldn't be because they are identical hardware wise. I'll report back later this week after I use it at school. I usually really 3-6 miles depending on the day which could kill the battery faster since it's counting my steps. Yesterday I only walked 2 miles which isn't a lot so we will see.
Mine doesn't make it through the day
I've had it 2 1/2 days, maybe it will get better. But it's dead by late evening - maybe 8p, with an 8a start.
Here's today's:
I'm using the same set up as I listed in the OP. Let's see how it does tomorrow now
I used it on the first day full charge. With everything on except google fit and brightness at level 4. I was getting 2.81% decrease/hr. I measured from 7 am to 4 pm; a 9 hr day with at least 30 emails and other notifications from tapatalk and such. 1 phone call and a few texts in that 9hr period. However today in my 2 hr venture to the grocery store, I used up about 5.41%/hr. And I did change up the watchface to a sweeping seconds one. That was the only diff to account for the increased battery. BUT even with that, the battery meter still said it would last another 2 days.
Like many others have said, this is my second full day with it. I assume it will just get stable and get an accurate reading in another day or so.

Yeah it seems to get good better life from my initial impressions. I would say with heavier usage it would get 1.25-1.5days but that depends on how you use it.
So far mixed review on battery life. Yesterday, it didn't last the whole day. But I think the wifi might have been on when I wasn't near a wifi. Did a 90 minute bike ride today and was connected to my phone vis RunGPS application which should have been using the watch HRM. Went from 95% to 45% in those 90 minutes. Don't know the impact, but when I got back, found the HR was stuck at 125 for half the ride, and 72 for the other half of the ride. Just frozen. I charged it fully at 12:00, now at almost 11PM, it has 73% remaining. I have the display set with "always on" turned off.

I never use the HRM because I know it kills the battery based on experience with AW and my old Samsung Gear Fit. I'm not surprised that it died that fast because its not made to primarily be a fitness watch despite having a HRM and fitness apps. I know that sounds dumb but a fitbit would do a better job because that's is sole purpose. I don't expect the HRM to be accurate on any smart watch; I tested mine yesterday at the gym while on the treadmill. The treadmill say my HR was 165 while the watch said it was 100 so there's a big difference and I trust the treadmill over the watch in this case. I have my display always on still and get good battery life. I don't expect the watch to last forever if I'm cranking the brightness and using the HRM. I'm not defending the watch by any means but rather stating that no AW/smart watch would handke this kind of thing well yet. I enjoy the look of Huawei and convenience it provides with alerts, notes etc... but I'm glad it lasts a day for my type of usage. I wonder if Marshmallow will improve the battery life at all.
Here's today's battery life. I knocked the watch of my night stand last night so I had to finish charging it when I got campus in case anyone was wondering about the activity tracking and watch on time difference from today. Nevertheless here's today's battery stats. Overall the battery life wasn't impacted that much by walking ~12k steps and over 5 miles which is surprising. I use the standard blue watch face it comes with because it's my favorite one so far and ambient mlde is always on as mentioned above.
I forgot to attach there picture :/
Good battery backup for a smartwatch
Had it fully charged when I went to bed last night, it was down to 30% when I got up this morning. I have no idea why it went down so fast. I put it in theater mode when I go to bed. I slept through the alarms, I'm wondering if maybe they were going off repeatedly and wore the battery down. -cjr-

I'd imagine if your anything like me and ignore your alarm for an hour because I'm a heavy sleeper then the vibration motor would certainly bring it down fast. I think that's really odd to drain that much but if it's consistently doing that I would be concerned.
Yeah, I tried using Sports Gear Tracker today to track my workout... didn't work eiter. I thought it was tracking and I checked a few times. The HR appeared frozen again, but the timer was running. But, when I got home, it has no record of the workout. Don't know what happened. Google fit does have the workout. But the Heart rate record is just flat. I'm going to try a hard reset and see if that fixes the Heart rate problem. Would sure like to know if anyone else is having any success with HRM, I'm thinking at this point to send it back as defective and try a different one. Seems odd that it would perform that badly. -cjr-
I'm still not getting through the day - 12 hours tops before it dies. Am wondering about settings - I have everything set as it came out of the box: haven't touched WiFi, so assume it's on; have ambient display always on.; default brightness setting of 4.
I'm not using the HRM at all, and not even really checking the watch constantly.
Any suggestions? (thanks in advance)
I have wifi off. I had it on and I think it really drained the battery.. try turning it off..
Urbane definitely had better batt life. While the huawei is acceptable, its definitely not as good, which I did expect with the battery being 25% smaller.
Thanks, will give that a try.

I'm having the opposite experience here. My Urbane was very inconsistent with battery life but when it had a good day it was around what the Huawei is. Its dependent on your usage but for me its great.
