[Q] D858HK T-Mobile LTE? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've got a G3 D858HK and would like to get it on the T-Mobile LTE network if possible. The Wikipedia article says that the network supports the following bands:
Frequency Band Band Number
700/2100 MHz AWS 4
700 MHz Block A 12
1900 MHz PCS 2
The D858HK supports 1800/1900/2300/2600 according to the box, but in the "hidden" menu it offers both Band 4 and Band 2. I've tried both and neither seem to work. I was hoping Band 2 would allow it to work, but no joy. Is it a hopeless cause?

How did you reach this hidden menu?
I want to enable LTE band 20. Is it possible?

[Q] Understanding carriers network bands

The article below came up today explaining how T-Mobile network improvements will make it possible for canadian iPhone users to not only have to rely on AT&T when roaming in the US.
http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/03/26/f...e-how-t-mobiles-lte-network-affects-canadians
Looking at the specs of our i747(m) from this link below, the device supports the following bands :
2G - GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G - HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G - LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 2100
Now, where does AWS stand in all of this and if a carrier rolls out a non-AWS LTE network, what other standards/protocols are available ?
What about UMTS?
Moreover, why are our phones called "pentaband phones" when, from the list above, the phone actually support 9 bands ( 4 2G bands + 3 3G bands + 2 LTE bands = 9 bands total)
Trying to make sense of all this but it just doesn't add up
Thanks in advance

[Q] Use Unlocked SGH-I747 in Thailand on True Move 4G (2100mhz)?

Is there a way to check that the LTE radio on the ATT SGS3 will work with the 2100mhz band LTE in Thailand? I tried an updated SIM at the True Mobile shop this morning and my phone would not register on the LTE network. When selecting "Bearer" in APN settings, picking LTE would disconnect my mobile date - setting it back to 'Unspecified' allowed me back onto HSPA+ but not LTE.
- Is it possible for a carrier to restrict the types of phones that can access their LTE network, or is it as simple as having the correct radio?
- Are there different channels on the 2100mhz LTE spectrum, and is it possible ATT uses a different channel than True is using?
- How can I diagnose my radio connection to determine what could be preventing my access to LTE on the True network?
- What is the difference between LTE 700mhz Class 17 / 2100 and 2100mhz LTE?
ROM - SlimBean 7.2 weekly, stock kernel
MODEM - LK3
True Move Press Release - http://truemoveh.truecorp.co.th/news_events/news/entry/1392?ln=en
True LTE - 2100 mhz band 1
i747 LTE - 700 mhz band 17, 1700/2100 (AWS) MHz
- Is there a way to see if I am connected to their 850mhz 3G or 2100mhz 3G?
Please let me know what further information I can provide to facilitate a solution. Cheers and thank you in advance.
[EDIT] Upon closer inspection, these are loafers... er, rather I educated myself about LTE bands and AWS... a tad confusing, but going off of the Samsung website spects, the SGH-i747 is dual band LTE 4/17... which is incompatible with True's LTE band 1.
This may be the push that puts a SIV in my hands...

[Q] Does Lg G3 (D855) support T-Mobile LTE?

Hi All,
I got LG G3 D855 international version from eBay last week, I'm wondering if I can get LTE, or H+ network on the phone. On "Network Mode I can see "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" listed , when I choose it the signal bars on the notification area start looping, after that it switch back to "GSM/WCDMA" option !
I added a new APN for LTE , but still not working on LTE.
According to T-Mobile coverage map , my area is support 4G /LTE network . The phone is rooted , software version: V10b-GLOBAL-COM (For Hong Kong)
I can get 10-12MB download speed on H, I guessing it will be a way faster on H+ , or LTE.
Any idea about how to get LTE to work?
Thank you,
I'm surprised HSPA is even working, you must be in an area where they moved it to 1900 (Band 2). The D855 model doesn't support the AWS band, also known as Band 4 or the 1700 frequency (so says GSM Arena anyway) . This band is where T-Mobile has their primary network deployments these days. That means no HSPA+ (that's only on Band 4, not Band 2), and no LTE at all.
Bottom line is I don't think you want to be using the Euro D855 model on T-Mobile USA network. Not the right tool for the job.
Sent from my LG-V500 using Tapatalk
I think it should still work. Frequencies tmo supports (straight from website):
4G LTE : Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 12 (700 MHz)
4G HSPA+: Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz)
3G HSPA: Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz)
The phone supports 2100MHz and 700MHz, and not 1900 or 1700. I just did a speed test and get 4Mbps reporting it used HSPA+. If that works, I'm not sure why LTE wouldn't unless it *has* to have the 1700 to get LTE.
Edit: here's some info on the 700MHz band http://www.spectrumgateway.com/t-mobile-700a-spectrum. I'll try it when I'm on vacation. I live in NC unfortunately.
Hi, I use LG G3 D855 and looking for solution to get LTE on T-Mobile USA. After some research inside the forum, I decided to try to use CyanogenMod (CM 12.1) on my system.
It works well and now I can enjoy LTE on T-Mobile network, even though not pretty stable yet, but I am good with that since the OS still ongoing development.
You can try to download the OS on Cyanogen official website, and use the latest update available.
In order to confirm if you get LTE signal, beside check on your LTE sign, you can use LTE Discovery apps whenever you lost LTE connection and try to reconnect on an LTE signal.
Oh, forgot to mention, I am located in College Station, TX.
Beware: LTE Band 4 (1700/2100 combo) it's not the same LTE Band 1 (2100 only) that LG G3 D855 supports. Better talk using band numbers not frequencies.

Sprint Note 4 LTE Bands

Hey guys,
I am in Malaysia and my phone operator uses 4G LTE on Band B7 2600. I can't find the proper list of bands for the Sprint version, can someone please clarify if I can use LTE or not?
Regards,
Zeekay.
Here you go: From the samsung web site:
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SM-N910PZKESPR-specs
According to Samsung they do not support 2600 with this phone.
LTE: Band 25/26/41
800/1900 MHz (CDMA),
800/1900/2500 MHz (LTE),
850/900/1800/1900 MHz (GSM),
850/900/1900/2100 MHz (UMTS)
I don't know if there are hardware limitations that would prevent loading different firmware to enable band 7

People like me with unlocked sprint note 4's have been trying forever to unlock additional lte bands. But so far not possible! I have once found my phone on lte band 5, but don't know how it happened.
By default this phone only supports 25,26,41. Pic below.
I have found a hidden menu of lte bands but none work! Pic below.
Edit: @poit i didn't even see your post. Sorry, didn't mean to double answer!

Ignore the LG site.
It only lists bands which are supported DIRECTLY in that region, not the bands the phone supports via hardware.
Where are you buying the phone from? The seller should list the bands on the phone, but all the bands are printed on the box itself.
The phones also say "GSM only no CDMA" but WCDMA bands even work. I don't know if CDMA or WCDMA are the same thing or not.
Keep in mind ONLY the european version (not the EAW) can be rooted right now.
Here are the bands the EAW version supports:
. GSM: 850.900/1800/1900. WCDMA: 850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100. TD-SDMA: 1900/2000. LTE: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B13/B17/B20/B28/B38/B39/B40/B41
Working perfect for me here in Europe.

Does this mean it will or will not work in USA TMobile? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4988
I see that table lists:
1900 MHz (Band 2) 4G LTE
1700/2100 MHz (Band 4 and 66) 4G LTE
850 MHz (Band 5) 4G LTE
700 MHz (Band 12) 4G LTE
600 MHz (Band 71) 4G LTE
How do I match this up with those bands you've listed? It looks like Bands 66 and 71 are not supported by phone. Does that mean it will not work?
thanks

I answered this question earlier in your other post. Remember I own this phone on tmobile.
No one uses band 66 or 71 from what i've seen anywhere.
Tmobile uses band 4, 2 in some areas, or 12. At least from what I've seen.
You're overanalyzing things now.
I've tested the bands in the service menu.
Why don't you call t-mobile and ask them if they use a strange band like 66 in your area? I've never heard of that before.

Does the LMG710EAW really support both bands 7 and 20? My research turned up that it supported band 7 (2600mhz) but not band 20 (800 mhz) or is this just due to them only listings bands from that region?
I ordered one without maybe doing my due diligence and Vodafone UK for 4G is bands 7 and 20
I have both LMG710EAW and LMG710ULM in hands, LMG710EAW doesn't seem to support B20, as in the parking area I get 4G on ULM but not with EAW.
But it's strange as today I had a look on the original packing of ULM, it's written with B20 support???
Also from LG site, FDD 4G Networks, without B20: 2100(B1) / 1800(B3) / 850(B5) / 2600(B7) / 900(B8) / 700(B28) MHz
