[Q] Unable to download Sony smartwatch 2 app update on my nexus 5 running lollipop. - Sony Smartwatch 2

I recently got hold of a sony smartwatch 2 and tried to use it by pairing it with my nexus 5 running lollipop. I just get a loading screen and it just hangs there, on the watch. I checked on the SW2 website, it says that you need to have the latest version of the Sony Smartwatch 2 app downloaded on your phone, which doesn't seem to be happening on my phone. Please help.

Have you tried to install manually the apps ?
Smart Connect: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonyericsson.extras.liveware
Smart Watch 2 : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.smartconnect.smartwatch2

Try use any apk downloader on web to download smartconnect and smartwatch2 from playstore and install them manually. If it still doesn't work, guess you will need to wait for Sony to update to support 5.0 ....
I remember when 4.4 was first out, the smartwatch2 didn't work too until Sony updated. It will take you real long time to wait because Sony will only roll out 5.0 in the first week of Jan 2015.

I bought SW2 today, and i have to flash 4.4 rom on N4, Lollipop crashed an update for me :<

the answer!
Im using lollipop on my nexus 4 and i had the same problem. Here is how i got it to work. The sw2 isnt running the latest version so use another android to do it. Then nornaly pair ur nexus 5 without factory reset ur sw2

Nexus 5 Android 5 doesnt work with Sony SmartWatch2
I just bought a new Sony SmartWatch2.
It did connect to my Nexus 5 running Android 5 but after that keep saying downloading updates and doesnt do anything.
I did reset it few times but no joy.

I have LG G3 d855 with stock lolipop 5.0 and work fine

Same problem here on my Nexus 4. I chatted online with a Sony tech support rep; he blamed Lollipop and said I'd have to wait for Sony to add support for it.

And that doesn't tie your watch to the other phone? I only have one smartphone so I'd have to use someone else's like an in-law's.

One more new update after 5.0.1?

My watch is already updated to 5.0.1 yesterday morning, rebooted it too and played with it all day yesterday
Now my watch says... New system update downloaded, swipe left to install..
But can't install it as battery is 31%(<80%)
..
So what's this new update? Curious..

I'm having the same problem also. But after turn off BT a night, next day turn in again, the problem fix magically. Problem now is sometimes having difficulty to charge it. Need to turn off BT again then only can fully charge. Btw, didn't reset after system update.
Seems it was the update for the android wear version on the watch,.. Now both the watch and phone wear versions are same ..

Update the Android Wear app on your phone to 1.0.5. This contains the play service 6.5 for your watch which updates automatically (your watch might reboot itself).
This happen to me also. I received the 5.0.1 update last week and this morning was prompted with another update on the watch. Installed and doesn't seem like anything has changed. Didn't note the play services version number before the update so can't tell if that has changed. My wear app has been up to date since last week.

Thanks! Yours is a higher version than mine on 5.0.1
Mine is Android Wear 1.0.5.1627902 (same play services version)
You appear to have an updated version of Android Wear.

Mine still has 1.0.1 version of android wear. Should I try a force sync?
I got the message that I have an update also, and I received 5.0.1 last Thursday. I need to charge to do the update, but the Android Wear version I loaded on Thursday was 1.0.5.1627902. So it looks like this IS a new version of Android Wear - 1.0.5.1643897.
Does anyone know what was changed?
I just did a reset of the watch and it downloaded the newer update(I already had 5.0.1) It downloaded very quickly so instead of a full OS upgrade it looks like just the Android Wear apk on the watch is being updated.
As usual I can't get it to install until I charge the watch(who ever walks around with 80+ % on this thing????).

Android Wear APK Updated [with WiFi capability]

Google has updated the Android Wear APK which makes it POSSIBLE to connect our Moto360 via WiFi.
http://motorola-blog.blogspot.ae/2015/04/moto-360-its-time-for-update.html?m=1
HOWEVER: as of 5/14/15 we are STILL WAITING for Motorola to roll out the FIRMWARE UPDATE to our Moto360 Watch.
So in summary:
This Thread is currently waiting for MOTOROLA to get their act together with the FIRMWARE update.
[Please direct complaints to Motorola not this thread]
Now we need Motorola to send their FIRMWARE UPDATE!
Let's see if we can "Encourge" them to roll the firmware update out!

I don't think anyone has it for Moto 360.
Its just the app, i dont think the Watch software update has started rolling out yet
Has this been pushed across the board? Was there a watch update, or just the Wear app? I don't think that I have gotten either...
Update: found it - https://www.dropbox.com/s/q9g4kqwj6...app-1.1.1.1867902-701867902-minAPI18.apk?dl=0

Well thats awkward... Wonder why Im getting notifications on my watch now. even though my phone is 11 miles away. #SuperGoodBluetooth I guess. You're right...
I've noticed an increase in phone battery drain with cloud sync (even when not on wifi), showing up as a new wakelock called CloudNodeSyncWakeLock. Anyone else getting similar drain with the new setting enabled?

Yep, I have it too.
I updated Android Wear, but am unable to get my watch to connect to the wifi network. I've turned on the cloud sync option already. Am I supposed to change settings on my watch as well?

Yes.. I did test it.. however; I would be more then happy to be wrong.
Can anyone else confirm that the WiFi features are now fully functional on BOTH the App and the Watch? According to this Motorola blog.. it's going to be rolled out over the next "few" weeks: http://motorola-blog.blogspot.com/2015/04/moto-360-its-time-for-update.html?m=1

Wi-Fi Will be enabled when the Moto 360 gets the firmware update to Android Wear 5.1 which is rolling out over the next "few" weeks. the Android wear app on the phone has already been updated to support Wifi but the watch needs the firmware to enable the Wi-Fi chip that is currently disabled on the Moto 360
Problems after installing latest version of Android Wear
Since the new update my Moto360 doesn't Conntect to my S5 and the following message pop up "Google Play Services stopped" and "process com.google.process.gapps stopped". Not even a factory reset helped! It looks like there are still some bugs :-/
I manually installed the update and it constantly crashed as above. Lots of 'android wear has stopped'. I'll wait for official app push and see if it still occurs whilst awaiting the watch firmware update

Moto 360 won't update to the latest version

I've tried resetting it, deleting the wear app, unpairing bluetooth...even tried it on my tablet and the thing just will not find the update. My friend did it the other day on his new phone and it grabbed the new update straight away.
I tried contacting Motorola support and they were useless... Does anyone have any other suggestions? I wouldn't be that bothered but I feel the wifi would make me use the watch far more, plus with the latest version it works with iPhones and I'm thinking of switching to an iPhone 6S Plus!
Thanks in advance for any help.

I would suggest using an older version of Android Wear. I used version 1.3.0.2139573. Once I did this I could update my Moto 360 from 4.4w2 to 5.1.1 without a problem. After that I had to update the Android Wear app on my phone to the latest build and it's all working flawlessly so far :good:

Google now cards not shown, even after wipe

Hello,
I´ve a problem with my lovely smartwatch 3 - google now cards are not shown, even after a reset of the watch. I´m not sure but can the "problem" be the latest google app update on smartphone? I´ve done a wipe for 2 times but nothing changes. Google App is running version 5.11.27.19, latest one afaik.
Greetings,
SirRobin78
The same thing has happened to me as well since around 4 days ago.
I've tried re-installing the firmware via PC Companion, but that didn't help, so I tried pairing with another phone and it still doesn't work. I'm not sure where the problem is.
Did you try to reinstall the android wear app on your phone and enable notifications? That is all I can think of.

Thanks for your suggestion, but I've already tried that as well and no joy. :crying:
The strange thing is that I get some Google cards, such as traffic time to home, etc. but I'm not getting the weather and stock info that I used to get all the time. (The cards do appear on my phone without issues.)
I´ve been having this "problem" ever since my phone updated to android 6.... I´m starting to think it might have something to do with that...

I've tested the watch on two phones, one is a Samsung Galaxy S4 (SC-04E variant) running 5.0.1 and the other is a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (SO-02G variant) running 5.0.2. so I don't think the problem is related to Android OS version.
Hopefully, the upcoming Android Wear firmware update will fix the issue.
N.B. Both phones are running stock firmware with no root.
My watch just showed me de card with stocks and weather.... But just as a regular notification card, no swiping left...

Samsung Gear S2 unable to connect.

I am currently on an HTC 10 running the latest version of LeeDroid, rooted. Ever since I flashed the new ROM, my Gear S2 Classic was unable to connect, but I left it like that as it still showed the time. After getting frustrated with not receiving notifications, I reset the watch and uninstalled everything related to the Gear off of my phone (Samsung Accessory Service, Gear S Manager, Gear S Plugin) and reinstalled everything. I attempted to connect to my watch for setup afterward, but every single time it prompts me to connect to my watch, the app crashes and the whole process has to restart. I can confirm that the watch can connect to my Note 5. Is this an issue with root?
Since a couple of the gear app updates the download of the depending software failes.
I was also on leedroid but I have had to rollback to stock to make everything work properly with my S3 frontier. Sh.. t happens. I rooted my device by myself
I had this info from Lee directly.
So we aspect the hTC N update next week... Hopefully.

Do you think installing LeeDroid unrooted would work? If not then I guess I will have to go back to stock ?
Hello, i use the Gear S App with the Gear S Plugin App from the Playstore with my HTC 10 and my Gear S3 Classic works fine with them..
So i will think, its a Problem with the Rom.
Did all Services for the Gear S App was installed, or was they removed by the Dev?
Nice Greets
Custom roms have a problem with the Samsung gear S plugin. Maybe it's because they are all deodexed? The only rom working for me is the nougat port for Verizon from santod040
Sent from my HTC6545LVW using Tapatalk
Anyone figure this out?
I read somewhere on another forum that the issue is some rom ID or device ID. Samsung Gear App or Plugin reads this ID and depending on the ID does this or that (checking if the device supports "something" - can't now remember what). Problem is that custom ROMs have IDs which this app doesn't recognize and gets into a piece of code which crashes. There was a patch to be applied to the Samsung App or Plugin to ignore the ID check which made it work OK, but it was a patching process one would have to repeat each time a new version of the app comes up.
