Scratched :( - Sony Smartwatch 3

Well i am a little bummed, i have a nice scratch in my week old Sony Smartwatch 3.... I hit the face of it on the corner of some granite counter tops on accident........ and now have a little cut in it. I don't think i really have any options, besides sending it to sony for repairs. I wounder what they would charge me? Just my luck..... oh well...
Had planned on getting a screen protector when they became available....

same with me, 1 week and 1 diagonal line from one corner to another.. gorilla glass would have been nice.. I didn't even think to screen protect (should have, horse bolted now)

I may look a seeing what sony will charge to repair...

There are screen protectors for this watch on Amazon UK. I wonder how good they are...

Ouch..sorry to hear, but thanks for sharing as I usually don't by protectors and now I will. Please do share if/when you find the repair price. Super longshot I know, but maybe Sony could realize this is a warranty issue since it is a device that should be able to take some bumps

Ok, so here is an update. Sony does not fix them. (That is what I was told) so I was advised to file a claim that the watch was not as durable as expected. I will send in the watch and see what they say. Best case they send me a replacement, worst case the send my old one back..

Hello guys,
Do you know what kind of screen it is if it's not Gorilla Glass ?
I've tryed a screen protector from Vikuiti CV8 but, as I feared, it is very difficult to apply it on a cambered surface. And on a little screen like this the lesser bubble is so annoying and visible that I prefer risking with no protector.

Has anyone tried on of these out yet?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Skinomi®-Te...sr=8-2&keywords=smartwatch+3+screen+protector
Must admit ive never used a screen protector on a phone before - tried many many years ago but kept on getting bubbles so gave up!
Just wondering if they are easy to apply, very noticiable and whether you lose any sensitivity. Pretty worried about getting my SW3 screen scratched.

Usually i'm quite good to apply screen protectors to phones but I tried on my watch and it is too difficult on a cambered surface...

My experience with skinomi - easy to apply, not too much rubbery feel, but glares more outside. OK for the price until something better comes out.

Polywatch could be your friend.
Have you tried using Polywatch to remove the scratches?
You can give it a try.

Replacement
Any chance of getting a replacement glass?

I use one of these, Matt too which stops showing finger smudges so much.
easy to apply and no bubbles.

Htc Desire screen is Gorilla glass confirmed in gsmarena..

Firstly please check the link..
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire-3077.php
so..as u can see our Desire's screen glass is Gorilla glass confirmed only by gsmarena and i also checked other sites but none of them contain this spec.
so i'm kinda confused regarding this, coz i dont want to use my phone with plastic screen which protector worn out within few days and have to change over and over again..
so what is ur xperience using Desire without any screen protector?
Just NO. Yep, sure it doesn't get scratched by keys and knives, but if you keep it in your pocket thin and sharp dust particles can be deadly. A friend of mine tried to go without a screen protector, and after a month or so there were a few light scratches...guess what happens if you go on like that for a year or so. Also, the first time you go to the seaside you're screwed: so happened to my gf with her brand new ipod touch, which now has a big nice smile in the middle of the screen...dust/sand particles are really dangerous, even for gorilla glass, believe me.
Firstly a screen protector wont 'wear out' within a few days, unless you have finger nails like edward scissorhands then itll last for months before needing to be changed.. ive had my cheap protector on for 3 months already and its still as good as new.. not bad whan it was something like a quid for 6.. and when i do come to change it I know theres still a pristine screen underneath.
Secondly even if it is so called gorilla glass its not immune to getting scratched, isnt it best to have an extra layer that can get scratched before the glass below it does?
You just have to look at the state of some iphones to realise gorilla glass isnt all its cracked up to be
Absolutely no scratches
My Desire was one of the first delivered last year - and until today there is absolutely no scratches on the glass. And I wear the phone with me every day, it has fallen into the dust etc., etc. The metal frame has scratches, the metal plate around the cover of the camera. But not the front glass. I'm really extremely happy with the glass quality.

You might have been lucky there..ever tried to look at it under a very strong light? Micro scratches aren't very likely to be seen in normal use.
I scrached it with sand so easy and once it felt on flor and got deep and wide scraches on glass and small bumps on metal. When screen is off I can see scraches easy.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I confirm: absolutely no scratches. NO. Not big, not micro. None. Niente. Nada. Nirwana. Gar Nix. Rien du tout.
And if they aren't noticeable under normal light what does it matter
My 1st desire arrived the day after orange put them on sale, so it was one of the 1st. After 2 weeks of keeping it in my suit pocket the screen had some nice scratches on it (probably from a lighter). So I would say all ways have a protector on it, in my case a Zagg which went on my 2nd desire, 1st one got sent back as it was playing up later to be found out it was due to using some power saving app, least the replacement arrived with no scratches and the zagg went straight on.
Someone should do this to their Desire: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2EYnUGUti0
Until then, I do not believe this has gorilla glass.

omg!!!! thats brutal!!!
thanks all for helping me to determine weather should i use my desire with or without screen protector....
so the bottom line is our desire actually doesn't have gorilla glass screen and it is not advised from most of u that not to use without screen protector...
Well, tbh i don't know wether it's gorilla glass or not...what i do know about that kind of glass is that it offers a good resistance when you try to break it, and it's overall more durable, otherwise it's like any kind of scratch resistant glass. This said, there's plenty of vids on youtube showing gorilla glass getting scratched (like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EimSyAIuDoI&feature=youtube_gdata_player), so why risking it, i'd say
I'm fairly certain its not Gorilla Glass since I've got a couple fairly big scratches through normal use.

Well it still means that it can be scratched: if it falls face down on gravel you can be quite sure you'll get something noticeable
Also, maybe tiny scratches won't annoy you, but for sure they will affect screen durability...i mean it could crack more easily you know.
Hey man, i don't wanna be a ****, i just wanna say that all of the superduper hax glass powered devices i had or stumbled across in my long phone nerd career got scratched sooner or later...but hey, at the end of the story it's your baby, not mine
Also its kind of pot luck wether you get a good qualitly screen protector.
I bought mine for like £2 for 6 and they show scratches after a week
whereas my friends ones, which were also bought from ebay for a similar price do not
show one scratch in months, and hes a bmx rider and his phone goes through alot
more than mine. All his friends with iphones have cracked screens so its stronger than
that at least. Ill always use a screen protector anyway, gorilla glass or not.
people...google it. here is a link. my desire has no scratches at all, and i hate screen protectors. i like my phone pure - without anything on it. all the best
I cannot post links, so go to the corning gorilla glass and see the products
the desire definitely does not have gorilla glass. it is very odd that corning who makes gorilla glass says that the desire does have it though that is incorrect as htc has said it does not. i had my desire without a case for a few weeks and it has 2 micro scratches that can only be seen when you shine a light on it while the screen is off. i hate the feel of screen protectors so i just have a plastic case for it and i haven't seen any new scratches on it for over a year.
er...just buy a case, no screen protectors needed. My Desire is 12 months old and not a mark on it. Case I use hardly adds any bulk whatsoever.

[Q] Another screen protector question

So I got me 2 units of SGS2 this week, gonna surprise the hell of my dad
However, I'm too worried about its screen. I've read the post, it goes about 75% AGAINST (or just dont feel like using) screen protectors and 25% FOR screen protectors...
Now heres the thing. I got some chinese brand (like them all) protector, similiar to MUVIT (at belcompany). I also ordered from ebay a different brand (claimed to be as smooth as the screen itself).
I have only installed the first I got from belcompany (not invisibleshield, but shield"something"). It definitely reduces screen smoothes. Dry finger cant slide properly on the screen (dry - as in, washed with soup and completed dried by towel).
next week I'll recieve the ebay ones I've bought - but I'd ask this anyways ... What do we do about it? Should I apply the protector and reduce the screen feel or apply it?
Can we definitely say that the protectors help us overcome scratches, or can we trust Gorilla glass to do its job?
Thanks
After watching a few youtube videos (guy puts his keys and coins in a bag with
The phone and shakes the hell out of it) I feel safe to have the phone without a
Screen protector. Just the plastic on the back to worry about imo.
I've had lots of screen protectors for other phones, some don't show any
Scratches and some look like stained glass after one day. I can't be bothered to
Be changing it every week. I did cut out a little square from an old one to cover the
Camera lense tho, theres no way to know if thats gorilla glass.
Wow ... I loved your answer
so I guess I'll stick with the current cover until ebay shows up, and then see if its any good (and how much it reduces the orginial screen smoothness). If I dont like it, I'll just go commando.
Should find some for the camera lens, I agree.
Thank you for your answer.
The screen get scratches, i already have 3 of them, i don't know if it's the screen or the coating but i ordered a brando ultraclear SP for protection, i wouldn't afford another scratch

Displex Touch Screen Polish

Went out for new years and I guess my phone was in the same pocket as my keys. Now it has slight scratches on the screen, not big ones at all and not really that noticeable. I was just wondering if anyone has ever used Displex DP098 Touch Screen Polish and how did it turn out. I really don't want to put an a screen cover but I might have to if this doesn't work.

Edit: I just went ahead and bought it. Ill try to do a before and after.
I would just apply a decent screen protector. It should fill the scratches and help prevent new ones. I wouldnt apply a polish on a coated screen such as this one. Also the reviews on amazon do not look promising.
Don't do it bud. I once scratched my plasma moving house and used something similar to try and polish it out.
Turns out that the screen had some kind of anti-glare protection so all I did was make a huge shiny spot on the screen half the size of my palm.. it's all I could see for 12 months before selling it.
The screen on the GN really is rubbish and is very easily scratched.
I'd await for a more knowlegable reply before diving in.
Edit: As per the above poster the XOSkins are applied with fluid and claim that it will indeed fill small scratches.
I'm also intrested in this product. The screen on my gnexus has an almost invisible scratch in the screen, and while I was searching for a screen protector to avoid future damages, I found displex. The reviews online seem contradictory, and I suppose this depends a lot on the material the screen is made of. So when your displex arrive, please let us(me...) know if it did work or not....

lol I had a Galaxy S2 and iPhone 4 screen scratch, they must also be rubbish.
I don't think its the actual glass scratching, but rather the oleophobic coating. It doesn't need to be from Corning to the strong.

can you recommend a screen protector for the galaxy nexus ? i saw the liquid-armor reviews on youtube and it looks promising .. want to get rid of a small scratch
Today I noticed a VERY long and rather deep scratch on my galaxy nexus's screen that i didn't have yesterday. I am so sad =/
I had ordered a XO Skin 3 days ago, but seems like it didn't make it in time. I had my GNex in my pocket yesterday, and there were no keys or coins in my pocket. I seriously cannot think of *HOW* this scratch was done.
I was also looking at Displex before applying the XO Skin, since that just covers it up. Can anyone give me some more opinions? Already tried toothpaste, but nothing much happened.

[Q] Moto X Screen Protectors ?

Hello Folks,
I know there are loads of screen protector threads out there but none of them are recent for the MotoX.
I have had an XtremeGuard Protector on my X for a few months, but the gummyness, orange peel and lack of screen sensitivity is killing me.
What are some good current options that are $15 or under ?
Thanks,
Pete
I'm currently using the SUPCASE Screen protector that came with my case: has everything I need to get it on once and only once(even comes with a lint remover film). Looks and feel great. I don't know what you mean by 'gummyness though, the only screen protector I would describe that has a gummy-like feel(especially when I pinch with my fingernail is the Skinomi brands.

Thank you for the suggestions folks

I bought a couple of the Mimeusa.com glass screen protectors, one for my wife and another for myself. Installed mine first, its a little different installing such a stiff protector, luckily i was able to lift it back up easily a couple times to adjust the positioning.
The wifes I installed a couple hours after, and it felt like it gave me more problems. didn't want to get positioned right, but eventually I got it lined up well.
The next day it fell off in her car while she was driving and got covered in dirt and dust on the adhesive side.
Mine is still on, after 2 weeks of use;
The texture is awesome! i hate most screen protectors, but this is glass and feels so good to the touch. you hardly notice its there.
It hasn't taken and scratches, and it does feel like fingerprints are less noticeable than on the bare screen.
I don't have a case of my X yet, ordered a bumper from amazon, but its not here yet.
I feel that the protector gathers small fibers easily at the edge. there are a couple of very small fibers that have worked there way just under the edge of the glass. They are hardly noticeable, especially when the screen is on.
I have not seen any new accumulation since the first few days, so maybe its more prone to catching the fibers in the hours / day after installation. I would advise avoiding pockets for 24 hours after installing this product if you can.
I will probably use this screen protector until it chips/breaks/gets too scratched up, and then go naked screen for the rest of the phones life.
If you are intending to spend $15 for a screen protector, might as well get a tempered glass one. I'm using this one: http://www.amazon.com/i-Blason-Motorola-Ultra-Thin-Tempered-Protector/dp/B00E0CUP18/
If you installed it correctly the first time, it should stay stuck and without any bubbles.

I would just like to throw out my support for Liquid Armor. I use it on all of my touchscreen devices, and have never had a scratch on a screen since, and it feels just like glass, without anything on it. The best part is that the one bottle can be used for several screens. Though if you don't use it in a couple months, the stuff will harden in the nozzle of the bottle, making it more difficult to use.
Edit: figured Id throw in a link. http://www.amazon.com/Dynaflo-LIQUID-ARMOR-Universal-Microfiber-DYN-LA100SP/dp/B007EZ3EM0

Disclaimer: I posted this in a couple other threads, but I wanted to try and post it where I know we've been discussing tempered glass screen protectors.
Here's some pictures of the redesigned i-Blason protector. As you can see, there is now a cutout for the proximity sensor. The corners also fit the Moto X perfectly (their old design fit perfectly too). Very happy I finally have a protector that FITS and where the proximity sensor won't be blocked! I liked the i-Blason until I had started having proximity sensor issues because I had dropped it several times, and it never once cracked, unlike the MIME, which cracked the very first time I dropped it.

i have tempered glass on my moto X ( mimeusa.com/product/moto-x-ghost-glass-screen-protector/ ) since january.
it was very easy to install and the feel is wonderful. my only complaint is that when you drop your phone, it can crack. better a crack on the protector than a scratch on the device, right? my phone has been pretty suicidal lately, what w/ jumping off tables, so it has accumulated many cracks on the protector. i am replacing it (with same ghost glass) and also buying a bumper case ... that may make a difference in the life span of the protector.
this is my first glass protector and yes i like it. on previous devices i used zagg screen protectors and was VERY HAPPY with them, but when i ordered their protector for the moto X, i found that they must have screwed up on the device specs, as the film didn't even cover the entire viewing screen. UNACCEPTABLE! i will not go back to their products.
I had the MIMEUSA and was very happy with the feel of the MIMEUSA, but it didn't fit properly. The corners were too squared and extended over the screen. The edges were also suppose to be beveled to prevent chipping but mine seemed like they were beveled out, leaving a lip on the glass. This all led to the edges chipping and eventually a larger break.
I ordered the i-Blason to try it and am very happy. The fit is perfect, its quite a bit thinner than the MIMEUSA, and it feels just as slick and smooth as the MIMEUSA and the glass screen. I would recommend the i-Blason over the MIMEUSA. And the i-Blason is only $17 on Amazon making it about the same price as the high quality plastic protectors.

Mini scratches

Hello there
I own the device for about a week and a a half, and not using a screen protector, my phone haven't fell once and I don't think it was even next to a sharp thing, but now after looking closer to the screen I can a couple of mini scratches on the display l, I've tried removing them with my finger but they just won't come off.
Is there anything to do?
How is that possible for gorilla glass 5 to be so easy to scratches.
Thank you.
Yup, happened for me to. Ordered a screenprotector from germany two weeks after I had got my s9, because they werent in stock yet and it was cheaper to buy it from there than paying 50euro at a local store. When I cleaned and was ready to apply screenprotector , I realised too that it had alot of mini scratches, and I had for two weeks always keep my "phone pocket clean". It doesnt look like brand new anymore , more like 6months of wear. Ofc it doesnt affect when screen is on, but it would have been fun have clean screen under the protector. Really dissapointed of the quality.
Has anyone tried Moxie Liquid Screen Protector? Don't like screen protectors and this sounded like a good alternative. Applied it a week ago and so far so good. Just wondering if anyone's tried or used it before and what your thoughts are.
(Sorry, I know this is a bit off topic from the OP post. If others have had success or recommend it, it might work for after fixing your minor, yet annoying, scratches)
Sent from my SM-G965U1 using Tapatalk
Yeah it is really annoying. I had my S9+ less for about two days when I noticed two x 1 cm long mini scratches right across the middle of the screen. Really obvious when the screen is OFF. Less so when it is ON. Whereas my S7 edge got bashed around for over two years without a screen protector and not a visible scratch. Same with my previous Sony phone. So these new GG screens are definitely a backward step when it comes to scratch resistance. Naively assumed it would be the same surface as my S7 edge.
YES - I have actually tried applying Crystalusion - Liquid Screen Glass Protector and it had no obvious effect in reducing the visibility of the scratches. Granted Crystalusion say it wont fix existing scratches but may make them less obvious.
A web search shows it is a fairly common occurrence on the S9. People like me who have had previous Samsung phones that never scratched and are surprised and dismayed to see how easily the S9/S9+ does. Seemingly no one has had success polishing them out so will probably only make it worse trying.
I will wait in a vain hope that someone comes up with workable method to repair these micro scratches.
I've had the same problem. The front screen got scratched far too easily. Poor form for something this expensive. I found that the whitedome screen protector eliminated the visibility of the scratches as the adhesive fills the scratches, including a somewhat deep one.
My previous phones never had this issue
The Whitestone dome glass protector is great. It was around 35$ though. I followed a video and it went on so easy and looks really good. I highly recommend it.

How do you like it? Is it thick? Do you notice it being there? Does it feel different than the normal screen? Sorry, lots of questions! Never tried this before.
So far I have zero complaints about it. It's a liquid that comes on a moist towelette. Wipe it on and wait 15 min before wiping off. When your done it has no feel. Really just like a naked screen with nothing on it. It does seem to clean easier but maybe that's just my imagination.
This is my 1st Samsung phone and I was worried about a fragile screen. I'm comparing it to my last phone, a Moto ZForce. I've dropped this 4 times. On the back, the face and the sides. I also mainly carry it in the back pocket of my jeans. Screen has zero scratches or cracks. And with there guarantee ($350 if you crack the screen) I would recommend it. Hope I answered some of your questions

Initially I loved it. It has totally hidden the scratches and there is no way I can see them anymore. It is truly outstanding how it manages to do this.
However after a week or so a small section of air bubbles became visible beneath the protector. In a zone along the left hand curved bezel. lt is about 50mm tall by 5mm wide. Not visible with screen on bit obvious with it off.
Perhaps I did something wrong in the install process. Have contacted whitestone about it but no response. Was hoping I might be able to purchase a replacement for just the screen protector as I still have the install kit and the spare bottle of adhesive.
Thanks for the followup. I haven't buy a screen protectors because there is always a but. Hahahaha, hopefully it won't get scratched or someone will finally find a good long term option.
I suddenly found a scratch on the edge today, but I always take care of my screen, I don't put my phone in places where the screen can be scratched. I just keep it with me.
There isn't too many official screen protectors here, but I found a tempered glass branded NANO OPTICS for about 20$. Is it good? Had anyone tried it?
so i have this very strange scratch which is not a cut in glass it seems. Its more like a scratch when you push an eraser against glass (my phone came with it, noticed as i removed the original glass protector).
Strangely if you buff a bit it completely goes off but would reappear as you use the device within few minutes.
Any one has similar issue ... any advise ?
