[Tutorial] How to share .apk files from Bluetooth - Micromax Canvas A1

Hello friends,
As you know our device natively blocks sharing of .apk files as well as .rar files ( That's what I've found till now). I have got a nice way to easily share those files with Bluetooth. All you need is an archiver installed in your mobile.
Share files from PC/Lappy to mobile
--> Select the file(s) you want to share.
--> Add them to archive with .zip extension.
--> Now just send that .zip file to your mobile via Bluetooth.
--> Extract that file and voila, your .apk files is transferred successfully
Share files from mobile to mobile
--> Open any archiver application
--> Select the file(s) you want to share.
--> Now tap on compress. ( By default they will be compressed in .zip extension)
--> Now just send that .zip file to your mobile via Bluetooth.
--> Extract that file and voila, your .apk files is transferred successfully
If you find any other ways, in which are able to receive through Bluetooth directly, please do comment here..

Well atleast for mobile to mobile there are other quick ways of sharing apk, rar or any file via bluetooth... just rename your file from *.apk to *_apk , then send it, then just rename back to *.apk. Or best of all just use OBEX FTP protocol, i do via ES File explorer and its the best way to send apks or any file via Bluetooth, no renaming , no archive/unarchive mess, straight file transfers. The obex ftp should work on a pc too but i havent tested it so cant say it works or not.

Thanks for sharing !
But the thing is won't you be to tired by renaming each apk again and again if you are sending in bulk. Guess it's a boring work..

Use 3rd party application like software data cable or super beam .
Me and my frnds use this I don't know about others

Exploring my files from Shared Folder on my my windows PC

Hey guys, does anyone know if there is an app for the android phones where i can access my shared folders from my windows desktop ??? (the folders which are shared using the right click method in windows xp pro specific)
i can make them accessible through ftp but i use sharing with my laptop and i want to use it with my phone if possible!!!
Estrongs file explorer does windows shares/ftp/bluetooth browsing and streaming. Its free
hmm nice one, i found it on cyrket but it seems that avi files cannot be opened yet but good one...i won't be watching movies over my pc any way cause of the slow connection. thanks vman81
Are you asking for the ability not only to share the files but to stream media files from device to PC?
I love Dropbox! Super easy and you can access your files from your Android device or ANY computer.
Ehm, EStrong File Explorer is very interesting ... Anyone is using it?

If yes, do you think that we still need to have ASTRO? Because I read ASTRO is a very good file manager and app manager, but it does not support this kind of network access (browsing shared folder).
And I dont like to keep 2 similar apps, if you know what I meant.
Thanks

I think ASTRO is mostly for doing stuff like installing apps you have downloaded on your computer, though I dunno whether the other mentioned file explorers give you the possibility to do that as well.

In the other hand, you can just install an other application manager if you don't want 2 file managers

It's a file browser, they're not really going to be that different. So the answer is no, if you want to use the EStrong one you wont need to have Astro installed too.
Try AndroXplorer v.3!

File Sharing between Windows 7 and Evo 4G

I'm trying to use Astro (with SMB Module) to move some files from my phone to my PC. I am able to access the files in my PC using Astro but I cannot copy or move any files. I just want to move a video file from the Evo to my PC.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help in advance
E strongs file explorer works great for file transfers using the p.hone. Or websharing for accessing and modifying files from your computer remotely.
Also your problem could be your network shares are set to read only without write access.

+1 to this
It's most likely permission issues. You could test using an admin share to confirm.

[Q] Network File Copying App?

Anyone know of an app that can browse the network and copy files from a share to the device? I am using the ASTRO file manager tool (http://www.appbrain.com/app/astro-file-manager/com.metago.astro)
and the SMB plugin (http://www.appbrain.com/app/astro-smb-module/com.metago.astro.smb)
but files won't copy over.

Give ES File Explorer a try. It's free and ad-free.
Got it! Change view to LAN does it! Thanks.

There's a dropdown in the top right that says "Local". Click that and choose LAN.

Compress files

Hello,
I have an idea to make an App, and I have one problem, I have to upload one folder that its content have a lot of files and folders in order to upload to skydrive. I think that it is more easy if I compress the main folder and then upload this compressed file. How Can I compress this folder?
Thanks you

+1 for the idea... I also want a program like winrar which also available in symbian phones.plz any dev note this and develop an app for compressing and decompressing files...
WP will unzip zip files, make the sip, copy to sky drive, open via IE, it will then give you the contents of the zip,, it can't compress files to zip though. Technically there would be little point since docs auto sync to sky drive, and WP doesnt support anything else or file system access, but its doable for unlocked devices I suppose

Hi dazza9075,
Thank you by answer, I had thought that it isn't possible, because I want to compress a folder of other app that her content are a lot of files and folders. So, Do some api exist in order to compress this? Or, Have I upload files and folders one by one?
Thank you again
I think it's completely possible
sombody names Ego zheng,wrote an application. It is program manager.

its doable so long as you have interop unlock and WP tools installed and setup
if the Windows Phone SDK is missing Zip functionality (it may be called "DEFLATE" which is the name of the compression algorithm; ZIP is the file format) then there are surely libraries for various compression methods which you could download. Alternatively, if you don't mind using native code homebrew, there are compression libraries (zlib, etc.) that can be compiled to a native DLL, and you could then access them via COM.
i add this to new version of my file manager and now you can compress and decompress file and folders
Hi!
Thanks you by your answer, they have been very useful.
Thanks you
Hi again,
I'm using the lib "SharpZipLib" and I have problems with it. Can you explain how use it? or what is the problema? I probe in a program of pc and it working correctly but in app for my mobile say it crashed when it go to create the file, this is code:
FileStream fsOut = File.Create("Copia.zip"); //here is the problema at this moment
ZipOutputStream zipStream = new ZipOutputStream(fsOut);
zipStream.SetLevel(3);
zipStream.Password = null;
........
It can't create the file.
Thank you again
Generally speaking, Silverlight (which WP7 uses for apps) doesn't even allow normal file access, so you might just be getting a MethodAccessException on File.Create. If not, that still won't work without elevated privileges. The default working directory for a program is it's install directory. For a WP7 app, that's going to be either its install location (\Applications\Install\<GUID>\Install) or the Windows directory where the taskhost.exe file lives (\Windows\). Trying to create a file without specifying full path will crete it relative to the working directory, which in this case means creating it in the working directory directly (no path specified). Since the app can't write to the working directory, you'll get an error from that too.
To get around the permissions error, use the IsolatedStore folder (\Applications\Data\<GUID>\Data\IsolatedStore\) or run the app with full permissions ("Trusted" or root unlocked).
