[Q] Is there a way to remove 'fastboot'? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to remove 'fastboot' from my device, because every time I try to enter 'Download mode' it goes into 'fastboot mode'.

Would a full reset/flash of OEM solve the problem? Seems doubtful it is a hardware issue, providing all of the buttons work normally at all other times..

Ask @rodrigofd, he seems to have had a great hands-on with removing fastboot

You cannot remove fastboot. Fastboot is a fundamental part of android.
What you want to do is to stop your G3 from botting into fastboot instead of download mode, to do this you have to do the reverse of what you did to enable fastboot mode in the first place.
To enable fastboot on the G3 you have to remove the LAF partition (download mode), so to get download mode back you have to restore the LAF partition. There are plenty of threads on xda explaining this process, just go to any of the fastboot threads, or any of the roms threads where a tethered rom is required.

I already found a way to fix it, still using fastboot mode. But I was able to flash trough LG Flash Tool 2014. I didn't have to delete my partitions or so what. If someone is interested in a tutorial send a reply here or a PM and I will make one!

This method is temporary. If you want to put your device in DOWNLOAD mode from cmd, this method is for you. Seach over google for Send_Command.exe file. Once you got this file, Go to directory where you have this file. Hold shift key & right click, in context menu, click on "open command window here". Then Type this command "Send_Command \\.\Port#" e.g. "Send_Command \\.\COM6" (You can find port number from device manager). If command executed successfully, you'll see a msg something like "ENTER, LEAVE". cmd cursor is blinking next to # symbol. Just type ENTER. Your device will rebooted to DOWNLOAD mode. I'll use this method because my device volume up key is not functioning properly. I hope this helps.

I have F460L recently. It get bricked. When i turn it on, it goes to fastboot mode. I didn't find necessary files for F460 variants to debrick. So, i take my device to local market, there's a guy, he fixed my device. After that, my device is working. Device get back its DOWNLOAD mode (fastboot gone). So you try flashing stock firmware. I hope, this works for you.
Also, check whether your device goes to DOWNLOAD mode or not. If DOWNLOAD mode working, then its beautiful. Otherwise, your partitions are corrupted. You then flash *.imgs or *.bin files from fastboot mode (You can find thread on XDA about that). Before doing anything, search a lot. Write down any steps, you are going to do. Because, if you are not clear, then this will create more problem.

Fastboot binaries folder?

Hey guys.....
I'm using an Xperia Acro and need a little help in terms of flashing a custom kernel. Please bare with me as I'm pretty new to this.
I'm to upload the DoomKernel, and I *think* I'm ready to go. My phone is rotted, bootloader unlocked, fastboot enabled. Also, I have the necessary files that need to be flashed.
However, I got lost pretty quickly. I'm supposed to put the .img file into the "flashboot binaries folder". I have NO idea what this means. I looked at the systems folders and cant find anything labeled flashboot.
What am I'm supposed to do? Where is this elusive folder?
Appreciate the help...
Anybody? just trying to figure out where to put the boot.img file.....
On your pc you should have a fastboot folder, open that and one of the sub folders should be boot. Place the file there. Shift-right click and select open command window here, enter in the command window fastboot flash boot xxxx.img, xxxx being the bootfile name.

Thanks for the reply. Where would a fastboot folder be on my pc?
Thanks
When you unlocked your bootloader via SE you should have downloaded the SDK files, think it's in there. You'll need the drivers too, there are a few threads on here where people were looking for help with fastboot so you'll find everything there.

I didn't. I had it unlocked remotely by another user on this forum actually......
try these http://min.us/miDhsNng1
I recommend going to the se page about unlocking your bootloader first, it'll give you a link for all the files you need. If you're unsure, create a folder "fastboot", drop the files above in it, any bootfiles just go in the folder beside the dll files, in open folder shift and right-click, create command window, type in window"fastboot flash boot xxxx.img" and see if it asks for drivers
i'll give it a try. thanks!
Says "waiting for device". That mean im good to go?
seems fine, is the blue light on?
Any joy? Can't remember exactly how I set it up, there's a few extra things to download like adb, drivers and such but those files are the fastboot stuff I use. Think you need the Java jre too...
Hey, sorry for the delay. Had to sleep then go to work. Will attempt to do this once i get home!
Hey,
So yeah....it's a no go. I'm not sure if I'm entering fastboot mode correctly, cause the light is green. I hold the back button while plugging in the usb cord.....thats the correct way to enter fastboot mode right?
Anyway, command prompt continues to read, "waiting for device"
Okay, so apparently I needed to be holding the menu key, not the back key to enter fastboot mode.
So, I got the blue light now, but the command prompt still says "waiting for device"

Also, tried opening the fastboot.exe file manually, and it just opens and then shuts down immediately.
So frustrating!
hi mate
most likely ur missing drivers
my set up is fast boot folder inside which is all fast boot files and adb files and I place the .img here ,just in the fast boot folder not a sub folder.
I plug in phone in fast boot then open fast boot folder hold shift and right click on empty part of folder, click open command prompt here then enter "fastboot flash boot boot.img" should flash in 2-3 seconds if all is correct
some times hangs waiting for me if I open command prompt before plugging in phone
hope that helps

[Q] Unfortunately, Google Keyboard Has Stopped

A few months ago I decided to try and root my Nexus 7 (2013) tablet. At this time I simply cannot remember what process I used but all I know is that everytime I try to power it on the system start screen comes on where it asks what country you're in and so forth. But I also get the following Pop Up Error message "Unfortunately, Google Keyboard Has Stopped" and an "OK" button. When I click on OK the error message simply pops back up in a never ending loop. It stops at the SELECT WI-FI screen and won't let me input the access code because of the Pop Up Error message.
Does anyone have any idea how to completely wipe the system and bring it back to stock or just to the point I can do "anything"?
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Boot into fastboot by holding volume down and power while the tablet is off. Scroll through the options with volume keys. When you see the option recovery mode at the top of the screen, press power. This will boot you into recovery. From there, there will be several option. One of which should be a hard reset. navigate using the volume keys. You should be OK from here.

Thank you for your reply but unfortunately this doesn't work. It puts me right back to where I always end up and still get the Error Message stated above.
I've been working on this for a few hours now and nothing! It basically says I don't have a Keyboard installed after I do anything. If I Factory reset it I get the same Error Message about no keyboard.
Any ideas? PLEASE HELP!
That is really weird. Do you have a custom recovery installed? Custom ROM? Does the computer find it? because flashing a stock image may be the way to go from here.

Thank you for your reply. I greatly appreciate you taking the time. I am at wits end at this point and simply need it to run again. Can you talk me through loading whatever to get it back to new? I'll take anything at this point. Everything is backed up so I have nothing to lose. How can I load the original image? (non rooted)
Thank you!
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING IF IT GOES WRONG (it should not go wrong though)
First you will need an image. Search for a stock 2013 nexus 7 image. Than you will need to download google USB drivers :
http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
Than install them by opening the device manager program which is installed by default on any windows computer. Plug your tablet in, right click it in device manager and press update driver software and browse for the driver you downloaded. Than install it.
Now that that is done download the android SDK.
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Extract just the SDK folder (the other parts are not needed) and enter it once extracted. Click on the platform tools folder, hold shift and right click. Click on
"open new command window here"
Now put your tablet into fastboot mode. Type
"fastboot devices" in the command window. If there is something that shows up this means that your tablet is recognized.
Now type "fastboot OEM unlock" in the command window. Select yes on your tablet with volume keys and click power on your tablet. Than it will run through the unlock bootloader practice. This will erase all content on the tablet. It may take a bit.
Once that is done, put your image in the tablets internal storage.
Now download the latest twrp for your device.
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/193
Press download latest .img
Now, put your twrp image in the platform tools folder and name it something easy to type. Now, in the command window type:
Fastboot boot (name of your twrp here).IMG
This will boot into twrp. It will not install it.
Now, in twrp press install and browse for your image (must be a .zip file) and flash it. If all goes well than reboot your system. If there is a problem try another image.
You do not need to unlock bootloader or install drivers again. Just boot back in to twrp and flash another image (if it goes wrong)
Stuck

OK, a couple of things;
1. I'm using a MacBook Pro. Does this make any difference? (It says I don't have to download any drivers using a Mac but other than that is there any differences?)
2. I'm stuck at ..... Extract just the SDK folder (the other parts are not needed) and enter it once extracted. Click on the platform tools folder, hold shift and right click. Click on "open new command window here". Now put your tablet into fastboot mode. Type "fastboot devices" in the command window. Everything I do doesn't work. When I hold down Shift and Right-Click on the Platform Tools Folder I do not see "open new command window here". Is this the "platform-tools folder under the SDK folder?
Do you have any windows computers because this will not work without one

This is because Mac computers do not execute batch scripts and the fastboot commands are made to execute through a command prompt rather than a Linux terminal

I honestly made this way too complicated. Just run through setup without using the keyboard. Find an unprotected network (like McDonald's) that works and find a way to get your hands on an apk of any keyboard and install it. I'm not quite sure how you can get a download link to a keyboard with no account (yet) and no keyboard but there must be a way. Its a simple issue that causes so many problems. So in a nutshell, if you can find a way to install an apk of any keyboard, your good

Can't get Lg G7 into Download Mode

Here is some background.
I ordered an LG G7 ULM off of ebay a few days ago. When I got it, I noticed that it was an LG G7 Sprint that was converted to ULM. (Which is typical of eBay). I decided to flash the latest ULM firmware to the device by downloading the latest kdz and flashing with LGup. What I didn't realize until later is that I flashed the "Brightpoint" ULM version. Knowing this, I wanted to flash the non Brightpoint version, but when I try getting into download mode, it doesn't work. It only shows the G7 logo, then shows the battery charging symbol.
Additionally, I am in USB debugging mode and have OEM unlock on in developer options.
Things I have tried:
Holding volume up and then plugging USB
Holding volume down and plugging in USB
Holding volume up and power button
Holding volume down and power button
Reboot fastboot via adb
Also, when i try using LGup without download mode it gives and error "spc code does not match"
Does anyone know how to fix this?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/cross-flash-oreo-pie-firmwares-lg-g7-g7-t3915303
If you try ti flash when phone is not in download mode you get "spc code does not match" error.
First method is correct
"Holding volume up and then plugging USB" If that doesn't work try adb reboot download (I don't think there is download option with fastboot command or not supported by LG G7)
If you have ADB installed, connect phone with USB cable
1)Check your phone is listed in with command
Adb devices
2) then run this command
adb reboot download

If you have one of the models with OEM unlock inside the developer menu, you're wasting your time because it does nothing. I don't even know why it's there because the LG G7 ThinQ does not have fastboot mode baked in.
Try running a fastboot command and you will see. You have to get past the bootloader to access anyting to do a root and this is not possible on most of the phones here . Also you do not run these commands from download mode I don't believe, they would usually be done when in fastboot or recovery mode.
The only mode you're probably going to get into is download mode. It would be for manually upgrading firmware. You can go into that mode by holding power and Volume +. I tried for three days straight until I stumbled upon another Canadian who was able to root his phone but he had to use a special box and connectors.
There is no fastboot or recovery. All you can find is download mode and safe boot. I wish you the best of luck but if you have the same variant that I do and most of Canada does if it was purchased here then you will not be able to access fastboot because it does not exist. Don't take my word for it though, do your research and you will see I am speaking the truth. Or you can kill yourself and rip out your hair trying to get fastboot to to load but you will not succeed in doing anything but ending up bald. Luckily I shave my head or else I would have done that. Good luck on your research and if you should get fastboot to do anyting please post it in here for everyone to see so we can praise you and root our own phones also. Cheers my friend.
I didn't read back deeply but it sounds like you're attempting what I did, and use modded boot.img files to further gain access to what we need to root the phone. This is true as for what we need to do, but most who have flashed these images have either ruin their devices totally or had to reflash stock firmware. There were a few that got lucky and let's talk firmware fixed the issue but most phones that broke are probably in a landfill now. Please do share if you succeed in anyting we haven't already tried. I tried flashing to a firmware that does have fast boot capability but it did not work because fastboot is built into the phones and the firmware for any particular country has no effect on whether you can root your phone or not. Just before this I mentioned the boot.img method and I'm guessing the command you are running is something like fastboot flashroot_a boot.img and then typing the same command a second time but only with a letter b instead of an a. This method will not work either so please share if you discover a third method that no one else has discovered yet. I would donate money to you because you would basically be the developer of the root method that actually works.

Thanks for the reply.
I was reading into flashing the laf.img file which would fix the download mode not working, but I'm unable to gain root, so that isn't really an option.
I guess for now, I'm stuck with this firmware version. But, at least I'm on the latest pie version... Hopefully there will be a fix for it, or maybe someone will know how to fix this.
I have heard that you can buy for a service to fix this for around $30. But I don't think I would trust someone doing changes to my phone without a guarantee.

Repair your ROG2 phone with EDL mode,Official firmware!

Success is disgusted by some people, and will not share any files for free in the future.
Success!!!
This is awesome! Thanks much. I don't understand what you mean by "Factory setting must be restored after booting" though. Do you mean you need to go into Recovery mode and wipe the data?
Here's some instructions I put together that would have helped save me a lot of time. Please correct anything I missed:
After you have downloaded the zip file, here are the step-by-step instructions:
1. Extract the zipped folder wherever you want on your PC.
2. Open a CMD window.
3. cd /d <whatever path it is to the "\ASUS_ROG2_ZS660KL_QPST_Firmware\images" folder> e.g., "cd /d D:\RogPhoneII\ASUS_ROG2_ZS660KL_QPST_Firmware\images"
4. Make sure your PC is connected to the side port of your phone and the phone is in fastboot mode (Volume UP button + Power button).
5. Check and make sure your PC is connected properly by entering "fastboot devices" in the command window. You should see the ID of your device.
6. Then enter "fastboot oem enter-dload" in the command window. This will put the phone in emergency download mode (EDL). My phone went all black.
7. Open "\ASUS_ROG2_ZS660KL_QPST_Firmware\MiFlash2018-5-28-0" folder. Launch "XiaoMiFlash.exe".
8. Click "refresh". You should see a device in the list.
9. Click "select" and navigate to the "\ASUS_ROG2_ZS660KL_QPST_Firmware\images" folder.
10. Click "flash". Wait until it says "success".
11. After it's done, you'll hold down the UP button, Down button, and Power button on the phone at the same time until it shuts down.
12. Hold Up button and Power button at same to boot into fastboot mode again. Select Recovery mode by using the Up/Down buttons on the phone. Press the Power button to select.
13. Select "wipe data" from the drop down list. Go down the list of "no" until you get to the "yes" and press the Power button.
14. Select "reboot now".
15. Done.

Is the official firmware WW or CN?
I'm just thinking this is probably an easier way for CN guys to get WW if the QPST fw is WW

Though, you still want to be able to do updates and stuff without needing someone to break all the files out into separate images. This was a huge life saver thanks to John.
Please help me. I have widevine security L3 instead of L1 (also at relock bootloader). Here is what happen to me:
1. Unlock the bootloader and get persist.img, but wrong size of package then i have lost the serial number (C4ATAS000000). The size of persist file is 16mb instead of 32mb by default.
2. Try to get another persist.img from another device, then use Ultra editor to find and change back to my real Serial Number. And it worked.
3. Figure out widevine security is always stay at L3, whenever bootloader is re-locked. Also Asus unlock bootloader apk from asus homepage is not working, it said "error network".
4. Do flash raw from all version, also factory reset...etc but no luck.
.............................................
Do you know what is really happened when we flash wrong persist.img and flash another persist (which is already change Serial number back to real one)?
Mistake
If your phone can only enter EDL mode (9008 mode)
this firmware is glad to help you. It can be flashed in through
the QPST tool, or it can be flashed in through the Xiaomi miflash tool.
To use the QPST tool, you must change the EMMC to UFS. No matter which tool you use,
you must restore the factory settings after the phone is turned on, otherwise the storage
of the phone will recognize the error! !! !!
Factory settings must be restored after booting! !! !!
The firmware is made through the official package UL-ASUS_I001_1-ASUS-16.0631.1910.35-1.1.207-user.zip
without any modification, Suitable for repairing phones that can only enter edl mode(9008 mode).

Hi, I've managed to unbrick my ROG Phone II Tencent Edition 8/128 with a locked bootloader having "slot _a" error. Provided that you can do fastboot.
My equipment for flashing, for sure you already have ADB installed in your computer, my computer is an x64 Intel Windows 10 laptop, I used USB 2.0 not USB 3.0

Get another user persist.img (with correct 32.768 kb)
Using HEX editor or Ultra Edit to find SSN, ISN and IMEI in persist.img
Return to fastboot - then 9008 mode, use bat to write back to your phone and you will have back Asus unlock bootloader apk (working), have Serial number back.
For question: "How could i find real SSN, ISN and real IMEI?"
Please use command "fastboot oem device-info" in fastboot mode, it will show your real information.

Fastboot mode Not taking any commands

Hi everyone, I am in a real pickle. I can boot into fastboot mode but when I do so I am not able to flash any recovery img or infact any operations on it only " fastboot devices " gives a positive response, else everything just stucks in command line. So my next step was to use the realme Flash tool. in that too when I click on available devices it shows my phone but after that it just quits the fastboot mode and the phone asks me to press any key to reboot.
Guys please help me if there is any way around it as i have tried everything. Can we reset the bootloader itself using some tool if yes then please let me know
Thanks in advance

This happened twice with me.
Once, my device driver wasn't properly installed.
Second time I didn't gave cmd permission to access my phone.
Was there a pop up on your phone where it asks you something like "do you want this pc to control your phone"?
