I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because

What's working and what's not working?
The real question to ask is what is actually working, I would say not much honestly and this rom is more like a technical demo to give the system a try before there's someone that makes a functional port.
How do I install this rom?
Download the archive from the download link, extract it. Then install the files from fastboot with the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img

This is a test build so it's hard to say; I've barely had any time to test it out myself so report any bugs that you find and I'll do my best to resolve them.

hi,
any chance to make a bootable .zip file? even with this test build?
thank you!

Do you just not have any SIM card in it or does radio not work at the moment?
Also, is this built using the instructions Sony posted today or is it a home-cooked version?

what about the sensors, jerpelea mentioned they work kernel-side. It would be great if they finally worked in ROM too
I have just built 5.0, but sensors don't work on my build

The sensors are a bit messed up; seem's like the light sensor is working but miscalibrated. But the rest of the sensors are pretty much dead inside of Android.

You're a geth, talk to it and make it work
kidding
BTW you can try manually adding in the modem files. Krabappel (who built 5.0 for honami) did this and he got incoming phone calls and text, which is an improvement for now. I also did this in one of my older builds and it worked just the same.
You can also try and get the wifi working while you're at it

@oshmoun I'll ask Garrus to get the sensors calibrated for me, but yeah I'll see what I can do.
I'll setup a proper build enviroment on my desktop PC; I used a build server to compile this as I wanted to push out a build as fast as possible and it's not very cheap to use it for regular development lol. I'll have a look into it during the weekend, I could probably study Krabappels github to find out additional changes that's been made. Z1C and Z1 is very similar, so it shouldn't be that much of a hassle to port stuff from Z1 to ZC

In fact all you really have to change is the density. Flashing Z1 ROMs on your Z1C is as easy as that

Well, if I'm not misstaken you have to actually replace a few modules in the system too that's related to the digitizer.

LB (locked bootloader I'm assuming?) will never ever ever be able to install AOSP-, Google Play Edition-, CyanogenMod-, OmniROM-, AOKP-, ParanoidAndroid-, Carbon-, etc., etc. type ROMs. Please read up on what you can and can't do instead of cluttering up the forums with these kinds of comments.

hold on.....so....after allt eh fuss waiting for sony to update to ics....we already have now a working JB rom for xperia s?
is this still in early stages or is everything working as should be?
i had always said i want to keep this phone stock.....but after waiting ages for sony to sort out their software, i'm thinking i might try this at some stage.
what are the benefits and drawbacks of this rom?
i.e. what is present in this rom that isn't in stock, and vice versa?
(and most importantly of all.....how is battery life?)

Anyone know if we have to format System before flashing the kernel? And if so how do I do this with fastboot? Is it just the same as data wipe/factory reset in CWM?

From seconf post "before flash it is important to FORMAT SYSTEM
this is not included in updater-script yet
so it has to be done manually"

so....if we want to know anything about the rom we are potentially flashing to our £400 phone......then we shouldn't bother?
i dare say i'm capable of flashing a rom, i was forced to do it many times with my useless wildfire s.....i don't think it's that unreasonable to ask for a few pro's and cons?
e.g. what's the battery life like? do we lose panoramic and 3d camera options? do we lose nfc tags? etc...

Lollipop

I need some lollipop build testers for both single sim and dual sim variants. PM me if interested. I won't keep this thread open. I have the builds tested but I can't download each of my builds from server so I need some people who can take logs and send it.
Cheers,
AJ
UPDATE:
Code:
Package Complete: /data1/AJ/cm12/out/target/product/tianchi_dsds/cm-12-20150101-UNOFFICIAL-tianchi_dsds.zip
Finally built a new CM 12 build with aosp sources from sony for dual sim devices. Am not sure how it works and am currently downloading from server but I won't release it until the basic functionalities(ril, wifi, audio) are working properly.
Cheers,
AJ
Not booting
So I tried that build and its not booting due to improper dts implementation for dual sim devices. I'll properly work on it and adapt but development will be a bit slow because ive got my preboard exams going on and my phone looks like this now-

If anyone wants to help me with this project, feel free to PM me or you can reach me via hangouts- [email protected]
I'll try if dt.img from stock or my previous cm11 build works, then ill use that as prebuilt until proper implementation.
EDIT: I got some messages on hangouts from some guys who wanted to donate devices. So just a general note, I don't need devices from you guys. I'll get it fixed on my own. Also some guys wanted to test the builds, so I won't send build until I make sure myself that it boots properly. Thank you for understanding.
Cheers,
AJ
After hours of working on it, I've finally got device to start with the new unified kernel for dual sim version. It boots to sony logo and restarts but its still a good progress. I think now we(me and @abcdjdj ) can get it to work properly for lollipop with new kernel.
Cheers,
AJ

Cheers to @Abhinav2 and @abcdjdj :highfive:
We have decided to release the build for now for those who want a taste of lollipop. New build is under progress and will be finished soon. Now most important part, we may stop the build and close thread, if:
1. We get PMs asking for help and stuff related to ROM. If its related to ROM, post it in ROM thread.
2. If we get any bug reports without logcats. If you can't provide a log, then we won't consider it as a bug.
3. No spamming, thank you posts in development thread(to be created soon). Keep that thread clean.
4. This ROM still is in alpha stage. While most of the features work properly, we can't test all of them so bugs other than known ones can be expected.
5. The most important features of phone, RIL and camera are not working so this ROM is definitely not for daily use.
6. We don't need donations for our work but if you feel like donating, donate to fxp devs(jerpelea, cdesai, adfad666, etc.), the people who worked on unified kernels and CM team.
6. This is point 7 but I still numbered it point 6 again.
EDIT: Release is delayed because probably we might be able to get SIM 1 working. If that happens, then we'll directly release that build. Might be tested till 2:00 PM GMT. Doesn't work
Cheers,
AJ
More good news
I've found a clean way to boot a single kernel for both dual sim and single sim variants and this change has been merged in sony's unified kernel repo: https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/kernel/commits/aosp/LNX.LA.3.5.2.2-03010-8x74.0
How does that help dual sim users?
As we know about FreeXpera Project's efforts on AOSP 5.0 which uses this unified kernel so now these builds will directly boot even on dual sim devices now. They WILL be more buggier than single sim ones because the vendor blobs differ but they will boot and functions like wifi, bt and common stuff for both devices will work. Now whenever the kernel is updated on device trees on sony's git and build is made, you guys could try it. There might be a possibility of it not booting but it should. And this doesn't applied for just AOSP. Any other ROMs now made for single sim which uses the unified kernel with my commit could boot on both single and dual sim devices and to top it all its also been merged in 3.10 branch so whenever bootable 3.10 kernel is ready for single sim, we'll also have it working on dual sim
Cheers,
AJ
Can't wait for testing
But good to see that dual has this much development compared to single Lte:good:

Ah, crap. I forgot to test video, I just tried taking regular photos. But to answer your question, no, it doesn't. I should really just bundle Open Camera with this...
This is an improvement over other builds though, since the camera on those didn't function at all.

It is not a complaint but just information as we all know that development of lollipop Rom is still in preliminary stage for our devices
Thanks OP for this Rom [emoji106]
I've also found another bug: you'll need to rerun setup if you turn WiFi off. DO NOT TURN WIFI OFF. I'm looking into a fix for this, as this is kind of a bad issue.
FIXED. See post below.
A new build will be released later today that will *hopefully* resolve some of the bugs above with the wifi and whatnot.

Nope. Lag-free. I haven't crashed at all, and actually, this is 10x more stable and smooth than the official CM 11 nightlies from my own experience. With ART and other performance improvements in Lollipop, this is an extremely beneficial update for the GS3.

Newbie help
Since you're doing a build from unchanged stuff I was wondering if you had any hints about how I can locate a couple missing files.
In running ./extract-files.sh I find almost all but the first file in the #DRM section of /android/system/device/samsung/d2-common/proprietary-files.txt are not on my phone. I had to comment out those lines to finish the extract, obviously this means DRM is broken on my machine (meh), but any idea where I could get those files or if I should really care?

TheMuppets github has all those files after running extract files. On their github look for /vendor/samsung and place that sanding folder in your *root build finder*/ vendor folder. Hope this helps.
Is there a recommended Kernel and radio? I've been out of the modding world for quite some time and haven't kept up.

Why ask when the post above yours has this info? Please read previous posts BEFORE clogging the thread with this stuff.
Been testing this build for almost 24 hours and no random reboots or anything of that nature. For such an early Oreo build, this build is very decent. Main issues I've found so far
-camera broken
-flashlight not working (probably because of the camera)
-auto rotation is very slow a majority of the time.
With the way vache has been progressing with Oreo, I'm sure these things will be fixed sooner than later!
Can you easily restore a TWRP backup after flashing Oreo? Or does it make any changes which makes reverting to Nougat hard?

Yes you can revert easily. It doesn't make any changes to filesystem so it's easy as just flashing.
Went ahead and installed Oreo on my G5Plus.
Literally impressed, this being a first version and everything. Ended up installing all the applications I usually have on my phone - including root access. Everything went smooth and I didn't encounter any problems. Basically I will use it as a daily driver.
What doesn't work:
* camera
* FM Radio App
* Proximity sensor during calls - screen doesn't turn off by itself
Annoyances - unrelated to development, but more overall Oreo experience:
* not that easy to remove navbar
* all the settings are rearranged so, it's hard to find anything at first
* data usage option - hard to discern between the two SIMs
Don't know yet how battery life is - will get back to you guys.

And I hate substratum: it destabilizes the rom! I like things the way they're meant to be!
But hey! That's just me! Everyone is entitled to have his/her own opinion. [emoji12]

You missed one "!".
Fixed it for you.
My ROM is so destabilized from substratum, that I haven't had to reboot in days. ....please... I swear people just come up with stuff.
Meanwhile, I'm guessing we might not see another O build from vache until he gets camera fixed. Or at least most the bugs left besides camera.

Yeah, I think so too. But meanwhile probably no updates from LOS 14.1 also, I'm afraid... Let's wait and see.

Worked fine on my potter using Verizon towers on straight talk.
I wanted to try this Oreo ROM on my G5 plus but the download requires a password ... is there something I'm missing? Or did vache put this on hold for a while?
---------- Post added at 06:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:04 PM ----------
The 15.0 rom is gone from ROMs/LineageOS/ directory.
A link I have seen to the same file in a different directory (tmp/o) requires a password.

The Sony Xperia ZL has gotten even sweeter with the release of this unofficial LineageOS 16 build! This build is built directly from the LineageOS source and fusion3-common. This ROM is compatible with devices that have and unlocked bootloader and runs pretty stable from my testing. However, there are two issues with this build: Bluetooth and both cameras do not work. I aim to fix this in the future. The latest security updates are present in this build, and I plan to continue updating it every week or so.
NOTE: Bluetooth and both cameras do not work with the current build. I aim to fix this, but I need help in order to do so. If anyone would like to help me solve these issues, please help me out and reply to this thread with possible solutions. Just for reference, here is a short logcat of Bluetooth-related logs.
Screenshots
Issues
- Autorotate broken
- Bluetooth broken
- Camera/Flash broken
- Auto brightness broken
Download
You can download the newest build of the ROM over at my website. Older builds will also be available there in case you need them.
Installation & Setup
Download to your device and wipe system, data, and cache.
Flash the ZIP in your custom recovery (preferably TWRP).
OPTIONAL: Flash OpenGapps
Reboot & Enjoy
Root access
At the moment, there is no addonsu available for LineageOS 16. As such, in order to gain root access, you must flash Magisk onto your device. From there, install Magisk manager and you will have full root access available.

Great to see that our beloved ZL still got it going on... The only thing that keeps me from testing this right now is the camera, I use it a lot. Hope you can fix it. Thank you for your hard work! Cheers!!
Done Flashing with Magisk on it. So far so good, even in alpha build. It was smooth. Will stay on this rom and wait for bluetooth/Camera fix. Great Job!

No cam will work yet. Gapps try what you like, they should all work.
Thanks so much for the ROM!
Does the step counter work? On all Oreo ROMs the step counter is not working!

What app are you using for the step counter? Since Oreo the sensor framework switched to Sony DASH, so that might be a limitation from that.
Flash the 12-10 Alpha build, here is what i observe after the update. Also do a benchmark test. Here is the result. Also the network traffic is not working but thanks for latest build. Much better
- Screen brightness works properly on MX player before you need 15% in able to work it on the player
- Gallery app now is available
- December security patch

I use Google Fit.
But no other apps works for me.
I switched back to lollipop and it works.
So my question about that!
Download link not working... I'd like to know if the project will continue and reach a final build

Craving for Pie in Xperia Z
Can I flash this somehow in Xperia Z ? Or any developer working on Android Pie Lineage OS for Xperia Z ?
It would be great if there were continuity, at this point it is a great rom.
Please fix the camera bug and i'm sold
