[Q] Strange Texting Problem with ZenWatch - Asus ZenWatch

Wow, I must be the first one with a Zen Watch problem... or at least the first one with a Zen Watch... lucky me. Also, first time poster, so I hope I'm doing this right!
The issue I have occurs when I try to send a text message from my watch. When I do, I use voice to select a recipient as I would with Android Wear on any other device. While it looks like the message is sent from my phone (i.e it shows up in my message history with the selected recipient), the person never actually receives it. When I click on "Message Info" in the conversation history, it looks like the watch is adding "01" to the beginning of the phone number. The only thing I can think of is that this additional "Country Code" is screwing up the text.
I'm using a brand new S5, and it occurs in the stock messaging app, the Verizon messaging app, and Google Hang Outs. Any one have any ideas?

I tried a couple of times and it worked for me. Sprint HTC One Max Stock. Stock messaging app. Not using hangouts. That probably doesn't help much but at least lets you know it 'can' work.
I think your theories about country codes, etc may be right, but I would think you'd have the same issue if you do it via 'Ok Google' from the phone itself?

Hey Faxman,
Thanks for the response! Actually, you're right. I just tried it, and the same thing occurs if I try to send a voice text directly through Google Now on my phone. The message shows up in my conversation history, and looks like a normal text from my end. But it is never received at the destination. I still think that my country code analysis is the root of the issue, but I have no idea how to change it without attempting a 3rd party message app. I don't have a problem doing that inherently, but I would rather fix the problem then bandaid it
Any ideas from the massess would be awesome!

Missing SMS / text messages

Hello,
I've suspected for a while(and confirmed with friends) that relatively often, my sms don't get to them. It's shown as sent in my phone and in the sms threads, but they simply don't recieve them.
So I tested it out with another phone, sending 5 sms' to the other phone and it only recieved the first one. the other 4 never got there... Now could this be some sort of anti spam causing it? - I did send them in rapid succession. However when I send messages from the OTHER phone to me, regardless of how quick, I get them all. And we're on the same network/provider so that doesn't seem to be the problem.
During regular use, even SMS' sent with lots of time inbetween gets lost occassionally.
I've never had this problems with my old phone so does anyone else have a clue why this is happening? As you can imagine, it's frustrating thinking someone has gotten a message but it never reached there.
Thank you.
Sounds like this problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522535

Hey thanks for the reply, I saw that but doubt that's the same problem.. I usually list most of my numbers with +, and it shows the message is "sent". If it was the same problem as the link above, I guess it would b epossible to reproduce it everytime but mine is seemingly more random.
The specific number I tested it on was a number WITHOUT the +areacode, and even that produced 1/5 messages recieved by the other party.
Any other ideas?
I had that problem before with my touchPro. All I did was hard reset the phone, active sync my contacts and I sent out text messages. Everything worked fine after that.

Also checked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4016381&postcount=31 ? see if the number is still correct in windows mobile?
Also try to sent from the windows interface a couple of times (in the textmessage touchflo tab touch the new sms icon in the above right corner.) see if it does better then.

God you know what, you're right. Thanks. I did look through the WM sent folder before but not far down enough..
It does seem to drop the + after the first SMS then not reapply the + until I get a reply.
Annoyingly my phone still tells me "Message Sent" instead of invalid number though, so there's no way to tell if it sent the message without going to check the sent folder I assume?
Doesn't seem like there's a fix or even a confirmed cause for this yet?
I'm having a strange reversed problem: all SMS I send are regularly delivered, but I "miss" many incoming ones. the strage thing is that it happens (AFAIK) only with my girlfriend's ones!! nobody else still complained about me not anwering, so that should mean I received and answered all other mesages.
Please note that we have the same mobile operator (Vodafone Italy)
today she tried her SIM with her bro's phone, and guess what, the problem is still here BUT the difference is in lost messages: 4 out of five lost with her Moto v9, 2 out of 6 lost with her bro's nokia. that sounds really weird to me.
where do you think the problem might be? mine/her SIM, or phone?
I'll call Vodafone Italy later, but their assistance and support is really awful, they do not even know what they are talking about, and reply with the same pre-confectioned anwers every time.

TEXT MESSAGE NOT SENT - constant problem

Guys, about 90% of the time when i send a text message, of any size, to anyone, i get a 'message can not be sent' notification and the phone vibrates, this happens about 2-7 times before the text message is sent, and for each time it tries to send the text again, this amount is send to the recipient, for example if it retries 7 times i will send the message 7 times - very annoying
when using the froyo rom from both paul and richardtrip i did not have this issue, although i am almost certain this was due to the stock messaging app, i even tried using handcent on the froyo which i used on the stock and on the froyo it worked perfectly too, but handcent will not work on the stock rom.
so it seems to me that it is an issue with either the stock (sense based) rom or the htc messaging app
im on tmobile UK on a branded phone, this happens on any radio, both rooted and unrooted
does anyone have any advice, or know of a way to replace the htc messaging app with the stock android messaging app?
if i could get this sorted id be very happy, so i appreciate any help
thanks in advance
I've had this issue happen a couple of times aswell, not sure how to replicate it, it seems totally random, but i haven't seen a 90% change of getting it!
try a new radio lol
This happens to me if I use any messaging system other than the default one (e.g. handcent or chomp) and the signal changes whilst sending the message (i.e. H to 3G or E to G etc. etc.)
I am still using the default rom with the latest update as I am waiting for 2.2 before rooting
turn off GRPS/EDGE/ 3G Data

Had exactly the same problem on stock/sense based verions of romms. NEver had an issue on stock android messaging app, only with the sense one. Think it must be a bug with that app. I'm T-mo in UK to but have an unbranded phone.
dont resend it, just wait until the message is sent, the phone resends automatically, because if you click the resend, it will send another message. what i do is when i get that error message i just wait.
I'm getting this problem on my o2-uk Desire; they are sending me a replacement handset

Thanks everyone for your replies
So it is confirmed that it is an issue with the HTC messaging app but not with the stock android messaging app, and no messaging clients can fix this as they use the default messaging app.
Is there anyway to change the HTC messaging app with the stock android? I prefer it anyway it works much better, the official froyo release will also contain the stock messaging app which I guess will have the same problem.
I will try flashing a different radio
Setting the phone to WCDMA only does not fix the issue
I am having this problem, and also another which I feel might be related, it tries to resend the message, and it eventually goes. I have also noticed that quite a number of times when I try to make a call, it doesnt dial, it just goes silent and returns to the call register screen. Maybe both related to a siganl problem . Somebody suggested switching off Edge or whatever, but thats not really a fix, and why should you have to do this to send a text. ?

I agree, and I also experience the same problem, sometimes during a phone call the most strange sounds happen and then the call cuts out, I'm guessing is interference. Problems with calls, text messages, and the connection repeatedly drops when using the mobile internet, exactly the same problems as the hd2, they will not get fixed by HTC, speaking from experience.. very basic requirements of a phone still not being met
I have the exact same issue with both texts and calls that seem to take ages to connect and then just dump me back to the dialer. I've put it down to O2 being so awful but of people have the same issues on other networks id love to know

same. I get it 10% of the time. On a unlocked Desire with a UK T-Mobile contract. just leave it to send a couple times, put your desire on a window sill and it should be okay.
but i think the message is not automatically sent if you lock the phone. can anyone confirm this? my unsent message was still not sent when i locked my phone.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, i used to get this issue all of the time when using handcent or chomp. However, since doing the following i've not had it happen once in 2 weeks (where it would happen 10+ times a day before)
1) uninstall any messaging software you have downloaded from the market
2) download sms unread count and sms popup from the market
3) put the sms unread count widget on the homescreen
4) configure sms popup to your liking
5) send messages to your heart's content
This uses the default 'messages' app rather than anything else and works perfectly

[Q]Google Voice hijacked my texts as well as my voicemail. How do I get it to stop?

I want Google talk to handle my voicemails, but after flashing End of Days last night (and subsequently, to restore to make it stop, MikFroyo), my google talk app handles all my incoming communications.
Here's the thing. I don't want it to. I like that it delivers my voicemails, but my set up on both mikfroyo and end of days both accommodate for messages. My Google Talk widget is on the far right screen on both.
What can I do to make it stop taking my texts but leave the voicemail?
I would uninstall it, reinstall it, but upon that, disable the text handling feature.

Is that part of the install process or is that something I can get to somewhere in settings?
I forgot to mention, when I uninstall it, I don't get any texts anyone sends me until I re-install it. My voicemails go to my text message inbox...so it's kind of a screwy circle.

Well I haven't used talk yet.. [no one to try it with], but for google voice it is a parameter that can be enabled/disabled, and I think that may be overriding it.

Figured it out.
It wasn't entirely my fault, as the check boxes are cleverly named.
Here's the process (for anyone viewing this who wanted to know the answer):
Open up google voice inbox
Hit menu>more>settings>notifications and sync
*Edit* Check the box called Notifications via Text Message. It'll say you'll receive double notifcations. Hit okay, we'll fix that problem in a second.
Then, under that, disable all inbox notifications for Google Voice. This will prevent double notifications.
This will send the messages BACK to the stock messaging app (and to your GV inbox as well, but since you turned off GV notifications, you won't get a double notification for a text). The only downside is GV will text you every time you get a voicemail (which is no big deal). Other than that, everything is back to normal.
Thank you Teh Roxxorz for putting up with my GV-noobness until I figured it out

so is this still the setup? or did you change anything else? I made the porting mistake today and the google voice texting is driving me crazy. almost as bad as 9016 texts
thanks
Just curious. I had this happen to me as well but I thought it was because I linked my Sprint number to GV and thought that it is now taking over everything. I personally deal with the fact that GV takes over my messages (doesn't work for Safereader on Vlingo) but I like that texts pop up on my computer due to the GV extension for Chrome.
Did you link your GV to your Sprint number as well? Or does everyone that installs GV now have it take over their texts?

I linked my Sprint number to my GV and that's when it started sending texts to my GV instead of my regular messaging app. Before I linked it up, it only routed my voicemail to my GV inbox. It was very frustrating to me, as in the aosp rom and the sense roms I use I have my messaging apps set up where I like them and it's a pain in the ass to incorporate a GV widget into my set up ergonomically.
The process I outlined above works no matter what you're using (froyo, gingerbread with and without sense). I've used it on End of Days (which is a CM7 kang) and MikFroYo and it was the same process.
I haven't used it on my computer at all, so I don't know anything about that.
POsting here because it was first google result and I found an updated fix. Im on stock 4.4.4 Oneplus

Constant Google Voice voicemail notifications

I've been using Google Voice for over a year now, and YouMail before that on my Palm Pre 2, so I haven't used Verizon's voicemail in a long time.
My issue is, every time that I get a text, I also get new voicemail notifications for voicemail that I have already listened to. Sometimes I will get "10 unread voicemail" notifications, most of the time it's one or two unread VM's, it is very annoying.
I've reinstalled the app, cleared data, and I've marked all VM's in Google Voice unread and then read - nothing works
Any other ideas?
I think there is a setting you can change so it does/doesnt notify you via sms/email when you get a vm.
You need to change this on a computer, not the app.

I have the same issue on my Nexus 4, 4.2.2. It is very annoying and the fact that this obvious bug has not been dealt with does make me wonder if Google Voice is going the way of Google Reader.... No devs. Maybe Babble will solve it... The only alternative I have found is turning off the integration and sending a text for the voicemail to the phone. Pretty kludgy.
Ugh, hoping for complete Babble overhaul as well. The entire app is a mess really

I agree with this. My problems were different than yours. I didn't get notifications on a regular basis. Then I'd get 10 notifications for messages I never received. Sometimes a phone reboot would send messages to me, but not always. My gmail account had the notifications but they weren't pushed to the app.
I got tired of it, and went back to sprint VM. I wish sprint visual voicemail was an option on this phone. - Note, I am NOT rooted, and use this for business and cannot root (company policy).
I just found this thread when I went searching for solutions to this same issue. Did anyone figure out a solution or a workaround?
I'm also experiencing the same issue.
Me too. Two different phones now. 2013 moto X and droid turbo 64 gig. A lot of times for me it does not seem to be triggered by the reception of a text message. It will just happen. It also seems like it's just related to a few messages in my voicemail. This morning, I got a notification from a voicemail from August 5th that I listen to that day and have been notified maybe 3 or 4 times since that it existed. I'm about ready for the kludgy workaround mentioned earlier to turn off notifications on my phone and turn on text message notifications for it. Also hoping that this post will spark some new interest in fixing this problem or even better remind someone to post a solution that they found.
google voice app settings
I have had the same issue on my Samsung Galaxy S3 ever since I started using a Google Voice number. I get my google voice voicemails in Hangouts, so there should be no reason for me to receive a voicemail notification for them. I was just looking through the Sync And Notications section of the Settings inside the Google Voice app, and I found that I can uncheck the voicemail notications. Hopefully this will not affect my receiving notifications for my regular phone number (the one attached to the phone), or receiving hangouts messages with the Google Voice number voicemails.

Stock Samsung Messages App

I have just started using the Samsung Stock Messages app for SMS, coming from Textra.
I noticed that when I hit compose and enter a contact name, it shows all the phone numbers for that person. It doesnt even show which are mobile and which are not.
On Textra it labeled the numbers, and it also had an option to only show Mobile numbers.
Is there any way to do this on the Messages app? Its really confusing as I cant always tell which is even the right number to select for a text message to a contact...seems weird.
Thanks.

It does show mobile and other like work etc for me, open the messages app > contacts tab at the bottom > select contact > if contact has more than one number saved a pop-up appears with names of different numbers shown
Thanks for the reply. I feel like I am missing something as this process is so cumbersome for me that it almost doesnt make sense...
1 - in Textra and others, I hit the compose text button and start typing a name. it then immediately will show any associated numbers with labels so you can see which is the mobile, which is the home, etc. in this stock app I just see the contact name with a bunch of numbers. and if I hit one, it doesnt bring up any sort of window with all the labels.
2- following your directions, if I first go to the contacts tab (already an extra step) I see along list of all of my contact names. There is a search button, but if I hit that and type a contact, I again see an unlabeled list of numbers.
3 - if I manually scroll down the entire list until I find my contact, then when I press it I see a pop up with labels.
Any which way this is a LOT of steps to compose a text message - seems like it doesnt make sense. there is no more streamlined way?

Not that I know of, this is why there are 3rd party apps with a lot more time and attention gone into adding features over stock, personally I just leave conversations in my messages app so I can open and text direct from there, only the first ever message you send them you have to perform those steps
Why not just stick with Textra?
Great question!
Sadly, something is screwed up with AT&T, my Galaxy S9 and text messaging.
Several weeks ago, I started having an issue where I am sporadically not getting random texts. They just never appear - and then people are wondering why I didnt reply. To troubleshoot this, I went to the AT&T portal and checked the log of text messages...the missing messages are never even hitting my AT&T number, so it seems this is not an app issue.
AT&T has so far been useless in diagnosing this. But googling around, I have noticed that a number of people have had this issue and it seems AT&T's "Advanced Messaging" feature is a possible culprit. There have been reports that deactivating this has solved the issue for some users.
Unfortunately the only way to deactivate this that I have uncovered is through the stock app. And if I deactivate this in the stock app and then switch to another app like Textra, it is getting turned on again automatically. I have not discovered any way to keep this deactivated while using a 3rd party SMS app.
Crazy but tragically seems to be the case...very frustrating.

There is an app called "Package Disabler Pro" which allows without root, the disabling of system packages, if you know what the advanced messaging package is called, you might be able to permanently disable it without having to have the stock SMS app as default, perhaps disabling the Samsung stock SMS app would also do it (Just read here that Disabling the messages app on the S10+ allows Textra to work)
https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys10/comments/blcs1b/textra_no_sent_messages_only_received_messages/
Contacting the Textra dev would be a good idea too, ask them to add the feature you need into textra
I am also seeing another method that may disable it, by disabling VoLTE
https://textra.uservoice.com/knowle...80-t-mobile-at-t-verizon-missing-messages-rcs
Looks like that is for T-Mobile but worth a shot, if AM uses VoLTE it should kill it
