New Kernel Update - Tues - Nov 4th 2014 - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

just received a new software and stability update. Small in size. 7.45 MB. Had anyone else recieve it? If so, what did they improve? It's so incremental I can't even tell.

I just received it. I noticed two things after installing:
- The bluetooth/wifi/sidesync bug appears to be fixed. I also got a sidesync update today so that might be a factor.
- Overall wifi performance is better. I am getting faster wifi speeds than ever according to speedtest.net (33% faster download and about twice as fast upload). I'm surprised by the improvement. Maybe today is a fluke, but my desktop computer wifi speeds are about the same as they have always been. (time will tell) .

I've downloaded the rom from sammobile and its seems much snappier...

Agree. I too installed it and find the tablet much snappier. Wonder what performance improvement Samsung did though this update.

The performance is really noticeable, its a lot snappier and less micro lags

Can anyone try to find out if the problem with switching between 3G and 4G still exists, and if you still have to toggle flightmide for data to work again?

No updates for the SM-T805.
I have the france firmware installed.

Too bad the X05 models haven't received any update yet. If they did, and many of the existing issues were fixed in the process - I might aswell go ahead and buy a SM-T705!

Still waiting for an update for the 8.4 here in UK

OK. After a few days with the new update and I can safely agree with everyone else. It's definitely much more fluid and snappy, with no stutter effects, whatsoever. I wonder if this in preparation for the eventual lollipop update. We should see that around the first quarter of next year.

can i flash russia firmware , im from Viet nam and my device is t805

I am also going to download and install the russian one.. no patience.. I hope you all are talking about smoothness on the russian one right?

It's the US XAR version we are discussing.

Seriously a lot smother...I didn't expect much, but I'm impressed!

What did they exactly change in the newest update?

I'm curious because I feel like the tablet is running smoother but it could very well be my imagination. I'm going to be happy if battery life is somehow improved by the update.
Hopefully the chromecast crashing system UI bug
Edit; nope
Honestly?? I don't see any difference. I think peeps imagine things after an update.
I though the speed up was imaginary too so I did a post update video comparison with the tabPRO. Definitely sped up.
Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk
No question the update sped up touchwiz and massively improved wifi streaming.
Video streaming such as YouTube is MUCH faster.
According to GSam I've been getting another 30min screen on time per charge since the update. Not sure if it's attributable to the update. Wifi is definitely better.
WiFi improved. The micro stutter with touch wiz is obsolete. Keep up the good work Samsung.
Battery feels like it is lasting longer to me. Keyboard entry feels a little laggier though. Could be the browser.
After update I lost like 20 apps.
I'm already rooted so I don't get updates. What update version is it? And what is the date of the update.

Short answer is yes. However, it will unroot your device whereby you will have to flash Beans cf_autoroot again.
Also Sammy may get knowledge that were rooted to start. Once you rooted, you tripped knox (thereby voiding your warranty) . We may get a way in the future to reset knox so that should you need service, you could flash back to stock and reset knox. With kies, sammy may record that knox was tripped and void your warranty, regardless of what you may do to it in the future.
Lastly, it will reinstall any bloat you may have deleted.
I went ahead and flashed it as I will be moving to Vietnam and nobody there ever checks knox, especially on top tier products.

Still waiting for the update myself. Thought today would be the day but it's not looking like it.
What seems thats happening is that Motorola pulled the update due to a bug causing stock watchfaces to be not centered so the new update is being pushed now

Nothing official but it explains why people had the update downloading and then BOOM gone stuck on 4.4. I've heard that the new update is going out but its going out in small waves.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Free mobile app
Looks like they updated the off center watch face issue with a 48T version, instead of the P they announced.
My guess is it restarted the rollout cycle with the update so we'll see a delay if you're at the "didn't get the update originally" end. No point to waste bandwidth for those who hadn't rolled out yet with a dual update. So they recycled the process with the 48T version.
The screen that we don't want to see...
EDIT:I have found the Motorola update page and the comments say that the new update is out...

Think we just gotta wait it out. Seems like a new version is coming(at some point)
Strange though, how was a bug of this magnitude(off center watch face) not noticed? Oh well gotta love a quick fix.
Still on 4.4. Heard they have already released another version of lollipop for the 360 that fixes something. And now you know why roll outs are staged. I have no problem waiting for as bug free of a release as possible.
Edit: some people were having an issue with an off center watch face? That's a pretty bad bug.

Lollipop in 2 Weeks

Was guessing end of March on my other thread, which was best case... Seems it might happen

I will say though, the C5606, usually gets things last... Hopefully one of the ZL models get it by the end of march, would be pretty good.

But on the other hand, as long as there is no stable Xposed for Lollipop, I'm not going to update anyway. So no harm done.

Same here. That's the reason I didn't yet update my S5. But I wouldn't mind playing around with LP a bit, even without Xposed. From what I've seen so far on other people's phones, I don't like it much, but I'd like to try it out on my own device. Too bad I can't afford to tinker with the S5, as it's my work phone...

First purported Z series screenshot:
XperiaBlog.net said:
The screenshot you see below is claimed to be the first showing Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on the original Xperia Z (C6603). It shows that the handset is running on the 3.4 kernel and with a build number starting with 10.6.A.0. This would fit given the currently released firmware with build 10.5.1.A.0.292 i.e. the move from 10.5 to 10.6. Obviously the screenshot could be a fake, but hopefully it indicates the Lollipop update for older Xperia Z series is just around the corner.

I hope it don't come with a battery drain issue (again).
We got bent over a little with how long its taking, but not too concerned ( been having wifi issues, fixes with a restart though)
The post saying "end of next week" is actually end of THIS week... so we'll see... Not too long now, but don't get too excited... I say give Sony another 2 weeks, atleast....

It's bugfixes for heating issues and the camera mostly.
Normal day-to-day usage on .6, .8, and .15 software didn't result in any significant heat problems, but running intensive benchmarks like 3DMark ES 3.1 or a few runs of Antutu and the phone would turn into a small oven. On the .30 software the benchmarks are about 7% - 10% lower but even under insane conditions the phone is only slightly warm.

Nice - confirmed on my Dev Edition as well (both are 617).
Can you upload the system dump of this new version? thx
I have the dev edition and have not really noticed any heat issues until the upgrade, I think the software scales back this cpu a bit. While the update was installing, my phone became an oven, and it only took 2-3 minutes to install. Once in the OS, it cooled down quickly and functioned normally.
Can you guys post a few random shots using full auto mode after updated? We would like to take a look at the exifs.

Samsung have outdone themselves, S20-N20, S10-N10, and Tab S7 released all in one day.
PS, how long does it usually take for the other Tab S7 variants to get the same treatment?
Waiting for it to come out for the Wi-Fi version too.
@OP, it looks like you installed it? Any noticeable improvements? Bugs?
Nowhere to download for t970?
Sammobile got a hint that Tab S7 WiFi got it as well, but no hint as where. I cant find any info on T870BXXU2CULC build.
whats samsung got against the usa. why only Europe. seems usa always get firmware last
My tab S7 doesn't see the update although I'm in one of the countries 12 is supposed to release in.
Somebody tell me that I can't just flash the system and boot images for the T976B to my T970. Quick. Before I brick my T970 out of impatience haha
YEss!!
Got Android 12 for the Tab S7+ LTE, but not for the smaller Tab S7 Wifi. Looks like its only LTE getting 12 today =)
Can someone who got the update please post the changeling and / or screenshot of the update screen.
Also, please share your experience with what is new and what you like and dislike with the A12 update. It was quite buggy on the S21 Ultra at release and is still far from optimised. Wonder how it behaves on the Tab S7 series.
Still no Google Discover option to replace Samsung Free on the T875. I know it's not a big deal but it annoys me as it's an option on my partners cheaper FE model.

I'm not sure the T970B exists. I think it's either T970 or T975 or T976B
Maybe Sammobile meant T976B or T876B and that 0 was a typo, i think so.
This is the current latest test version in CheckFirm, it's simmilar to build you posted but without the B, which should be the correct way.
Not sure why samsung did not release the update for LTE and Wi-Fi models yet. Only the 5G models have it for now. Let's hope it comes out soon. I'm getting impatient

Yeah it's still a test version, this build apparantly, was discovered on 23rd of december, samsung hasn't pushed it out though, not sure if they will wait and have the update also contain january security patch with a newer build number or not.
