Dumb question about folding cover cases - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I bought a cheap fintie smart shell with the folding cover you can make into a triangle to prop up the device as a stand. The pictures and the how to video show the soft inside facing outward. The case is light blue and the inside is grey so when you look at the tablet propped up from the back, it is light blue with a gray triangle bar. I decided to fold it the other way instead with the light blue cover facing outward, so when propped up it looks light blue back with light blue tirangle bar. Makes more sense to me since the harder and more durable cover part should be facing outward and touching the table instead and the soft grey won't get dirty and get my screen dirty as well when I close it. However, in this orientation the part where the magnets meet is at the bottom so there is a higher chance of the triangle collapsing.
Which way do you fold it and if you fold it with the outside cover showing, does the triangle collapsing present much of a problem?

[g Note] Avoid Red Stripe White Leather Case from Ebay.

Hi everybody, first post. Good to be here.
Got WHITE RED STRIPE LEATHER CASE COVER & STAND case from ebay uk. It was cheap and didn't expect much of it. I expected it to last a month or so but after half a month I noticed a couple of things:
()It started to wear out pretty badly with not much use (the stitches on the edges especially). The black plastic that holds the phone had cracked on the spot where the power button is.
()The magnet on the clip created a pretty big dead spot for the S pen(on the screen), rendering the S Memo unusable sometimes.
So to avoid any damage from constant exposure to the magnet I decided to get rid of the case but not before tearing it open to see what it's made of.Here are some snaps of the "fantastic quality"(see attachment):
[drumroll] Yes, ladies and gentlemen. It's primary material is apparently ... dirty paper. I can't imagine what would happen if I held it out on a rainy day. So do yourselves a favor and save your £8 for something else.

Neim folio case

So I purchased this case off ebay- its from a korean store. Not much regarding the store or the company the case is made by: Neim
I was looking for a high quality, nice looking with features to set it apart but also to protect the phone.
It is made out of genuine leather, dark navy blue and yellow accent latch (which is magnetic) and yellow CC/license (3) holder inside, which allows you to hold cash. There are 2 cut outs for camera/led flash and speaker.
The interior is lined in felt. The case portion where the phone sits in is plastic but that rubbery smooth texture. The top and bottom (on sides) are what clips the phone to stay in. I wish the top corners were covered like the bottom is. All buttons and ports are easily accessible. The phone though is very tightly secured.
The case can be opened and used as a stand in landscape. its quite sturdy and stays in place.
An added bonus which I liked was the included matte finish screen protector. It was easy to apply. I like it cause there are little/no finger prints.
Overall I like the case. It does add bulk to the phone, which I dont mind.
2 pictures uploaded. Will take HD pictures and video when i have some time
Looks pretty neat.

White Nexus 5 with Black Back Cover

Does anyone own (or has seen) a White Nexus 5 which had it's battery cover replaced by a black one? I'm about to replace ny battery cover (white) and I was considering whether I should get another white one or instead buy a black one. The only thing that is holding me back is that I don't know how the matte back would look against the glossy sides my phone has. If anyone one has any pictures of what it would look like it would be great
Thanks!

I have the opposite. Black front with white back. Looks good IMO
Currently my phone has a black front, glossy sides and a white back (the normal White N5). I went ahead and ordered a black back for it, so I'll post pictures once it arrives. Basically it should look like a black N5 with glossy sides and a white speaker.

All combinations have been tried. There's a thread floating around here somewhere with the screenshots.
My black battery cover just arrived today Just to have something slightly different, I decided to polish the camera lens, making the trim silver instead of black, which I think contrasts well with the all black back. Here are some pictures of the results for those interested :

Nice. Question... it looks like it's a little bumpy/rough along the right side/edge of the lens. Is that an artifact of the polishing or something else? Otherwise I like the accent

Thanks! The lens trim is a bit rough due to wear and tear (I use the phone without a cover so it's pretty much always resting on the lens). Polishing will not make the surface any rougher as all it does is wear of the paint layer. What I suggest though is that you take the lens part out of the phone to polish in order to avoid getting some of the polish inside the phone.

In that case, my attempt will have to wait another 6-8 months till I need to change the battery. Or I have some other reason to replace the back
I have the yellow bumper case, I have had it for the last 6 months and it starting discolor around the edges. But I do enjoy the black on yellow color.

[Q] Dot View operation

So i bought a Dot View case for my M8 am and pretty underwhelmed by the lack of useful notifcations I get.. virtually none.
What I do like is the fact that it automagically turns on and off when I open and shut the case.
I assumed this is done with a magnet underneath the HTC logo on the flip cover, so I applied a small piece of magentic tape to an ordinary flip case that I prefer to use, however cannot get it to turn the phone oon and off.
looking closely at the dot case there appears to be something in the case on the rear of the phone opposite where the HTC logo is on the flip cover. Is this having an effect of the operation.
Does anybody know how this works, and how I can emulate in another cover?
I've done some tests with a dot view case, and with a few others.
Basically, it's just a small magnet placed above the screen, positioned about 3 cm from the left edge and 6.5 cm from the bottom edge of the phone, which turns it on or off.
If you can find a magnet thin & strong enough, and put it in the right place, you can virtually emulate the effect on any flip case.

Thanks for your reply, perhaps the magnetic strip i used wasn't strong enough.
Are you sure about the "3 cm " from the left hand edge?.. looking at my dotview cover it seems to span from about 0.5cm to 2cm from the LH edge?
Every flip case I own do this and have no magnets. Open cover and screen turns on. I thought it was maybe a light sense but Idk? I have the Watson flip case I think made by Incipio? Also a generic eBay one made of leather.
If your screen turns on/off, it's that your covers have the small magnet inside. Try it with a piece of cardboard or anything else and you will see the behaviour is different

Nilkin Flip Cover Mod for Notification LED

Quite like the flip cover, I have the Nilkin one from e-bay and it works fine other than there is no LED notification cut out on the cover.
So, a ten minute mod this, the hole position wants to go 6mm from the top, and 17mm from the right hand edge.
I used a micrometer to measure, but a ruler would work as well.
Send yourself an email so the LED is flashing.
I used a hot needle to make an initial hole about 0 .5mm to ensure it was lined up with the LED. If you can see the LED flashing, then its matter of taste how big you want the hole. I finished up at just over 1.5mm in diameter. A light trim of excess plastic with a sharp hobby knife and your done.
Attached pic with notification LED flashing.
Oh, and at your own risk !
