Hello I am wanting to change the very first screen that appears at boot. Is this called the splash screen or the boot screen. Its the one that is a white background and says htc evo.

I have a rooted galaxy nexus. Earlier today I downloaded an app to change the boot animations. Everything was working fine. I started to explore other boot animations. I was letting the program (from the market) download and install them. I installed one and went to preview and the screen turned black and stayed black. I pulled the battery out the back and restarted the phone. The splash screen was black and the home screen was black also.
I'm not sure what has happened. I'm not in debugger mode. I tried getting clever and taking screen shots of the phone to see where I should touch the screen but the screen shots came out black!
How do i get rid of this black screen symptom? Thanks

Today got my pro. When opening the tablet after lock screen, I got black line in the middle of the screen, blinking 4 about 2-3 seconds, 2 or 3 times and it dissappeared. Tried hard reset, didn't work... any clue what to do? Thanks all

Did you ever resolve this? My dad just gave me his tablet, and it has like a 2 inch wide column in the middle of the screen where a bunch of flickering black lines jump around. It only happens on white backgrounds, and the more white there is, the worse it is. In the settings screen, it's bad, but on the blue background home screen, they aren't there at all.
It's not a solid black bar like yours, but a bunch of thin, horizontal lines about 2 inches wide down the middle of the screen, almost on the mirror side of where your bar was showing up
I flashed the google play edition rom to my AT&T m8 and noticed on boot up the whole screen wasn't being used. There were artifacts on the bottom eight of an inch on the screen. This wasn't a big deal until I went back to stock and now it seems android can't decide on my screen size. The screen will continually jump screen sizes where the notification bar will wrap vertically to the bottom of the screen. I've tried wiping everything but the problem persists, it even jumps on the bootup att screen and the htc one logo. Any help would be great!

at first my phone has downward lines in the screen and after a while it freezes and when i reboot it the screen only display a black color please help
