[Q] No GPS - Sprint LG G2

I can't get gps to work, have tried multiple roms. Liquidsmooth, pa 4.6, liquid v4.0 lollipop even affliction stable zvd. tried with zve modem (what i rooted from) zv8, and cloudy's kk modem. Any suggestions?

So gps only works on cdma/evdo. Nothing on lte. Any ideas?

when you install new roms, try updating your PRL from system settings. I don't know if it works on all roms but it fixed my GPS when it wasn't working

Get a new phone or dedicated GPS device. The G2 is known to have hardware GPS issues. My GPS was intermittent, maybe worked 10% of the time. I sent my G2 back to LG under warranty for repair, they said they fixed the GPS antenna and when I got it back, my GPS won't work at all.

I'm on Galaxy SIII from Sprint. I was running latest Beanstalk and same issue happened to me and others once flashing the 4.4.2.249 build if I remember right, and we lost LTE ability, 3G worked. It looks like the problem was related to the Cyanogenmod 11 source code which Beanstalk is based on.
In order to fix it, we had to revert back to a stock rooted 4.3 rom, wait until had LTE back (which was few minutes for me), and then back to a previously working Beanstalk Rom. I tried to recover from my backup before going to rooted 4.3 rom but that did not bring back my LTE so that's why I went back to 4.3 rooted first and then after getting LTE on that I recovered from my previous backup.
Seems other roms based on the same source are all having same issue. I'm waiting for someone to confirm that LTE works before doing any other Rom flashes. I love the Beanstalk Rom by the way and the amazing work of Cyanogenmod team.

Kitkat and GPS

for those of us running the kitkat builds (i've tried aicp and cm11), how is your gps on those roms?
edit - are you finding satellites easily?
Look in thread..Maybe that is an issue on that ROM..I was using only one 4.4.2 ROM and GPS worked fine..

[FIX] GPS issues on ASOP based ROMS

If you are having issues with GPS on AOSP based ROMS all you need to do is:
*flash a stock ROM (stock ROM is one based on the LG ROM that came with the phone I recommend this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/development/rom-stock-root-deodex-t2932683 )
*get a gps lock
*then flash or restore whatever AOSP based ROM you like.
GPS will now be working for you.
This has been a fix for GPS on AOSP based roms for years and I had to recently use it myself as I was getting no GPS on all AOSP based ROMS.
Also make sure that GPS isn't actually broken in the AOSP based ROM you are flashing because if GPS is broken in the ROM then obviously this isn't going to fix it. This fix is for people having GPS issues on ROMs that have working GPS which is currently all KK and LP AOSP based ROMs we have for the vs985. Hope this helps someone.
bump. Still seeing people posting about no gps on AOSP roms so bumping this in hopes that it gets seen more often.
Interesting. Just curious here: If I "Restore" a 4.4.4 ROM, get the lock, then Restore back my current AOSP Lollipop-based ROM, will that work? As in, is the GPS lock sequence stored in the GPS hardware flash or something?

Honestly I don't know why this fixes GPS I just know it does. Like I said in the OP this has been a fix for GPS on AOSP based ROMS for years as I learned this trick back a couple years ago on my LG Spectrum. I was one not getting GPS on any AOSP based roms but noticed most weren't having issues with it so I remembered this fix and tried it on my phone and I haven't had GPS issues since. Once you do this you should no longer need to again no matter how many roms you flash; just be sure to always get a lock on each ROM you flash before flashing a new one as that may cause the issue to comeback.
Bumping again because people are still constantly posting about gps being broken on AOSP based ROMS and don't know how to research the forums for solutions to their issues but would rather clutter threads with the same questions over and over and over.
Help
So does "get a gps lock just mean open up maps and get it to lock onto a gps signal?

Kit Kat Touchwiz ROM ?

Hello,
Is there any kit kat touchwiz ROM available which is somewhat stable? I would like to be able to use tap n pay. I have a Verizon NOte 2 with such a ROM and it works great. I am upset that it is so hard to find a ROM for the tmobile phone.
I guess Tmobile never released kitkat for this phone?
Lol .. :sly:
Use S.W.A.R.M (Stock) or Test Rom 1.2 (it has some S5 apps - does not have wifi calling) follow all instructions for installing.
Sorry SWARM isnt KitKat. Rom of Thrones is - which is the base for my Test Rom 1.2 - Good Luck.

Thanks,
I did try test ROm and my wifi wasn't working. I now know that its because I needed to update my baseband .. Which I have now done. SO ill give one of those a try.
I also understand that we can load AT&T roms on this phone as long as we are using the T889 Radio,,, so I am looking at those roms as well

Yes. You can also try AGNi Kernel if Wifi still isnt working. From my experience 4.3.0 is the best so far.

I had to flash the wifi fix. Im not sure if flashing a kernel would have fixed my wifi problem. As I understand; the issue is that my phone has the original bootloader that it was shipped with. it doesnt have the 4.3 OTA bootloader therfore I had to install this wifi fix.
SO now I have a Tmobile T889 running an ATT touchwiz rom... I have working LTE(LTE worked with Tmobile roms too). To get the LTE to work I had t flash the latest tmobile radio. My Google wallet tap n pay works again. I am extremely happy about this setup!
Oh... and I am using AT&T go as the service... not Tmobile

Yes flashing a kernel would have fixed the wifi. Flashing the patch wouldve probably made things worse to be honest..now the only way to revert the patch is to odin back to the original firmware...
Im on 4.1.2 Bootloader myself. Havent upgraded to anything above that..i only flash kernels and the modems. Works fine for me. Only issue is the charging while phone is off doesnt work.
Which Rom did you use?

[Q] LTE connection on 5.0

When I used stock Kit Kat on my Note 3 it always had problems connecting to LTE. You would always have to disable the radio and then enable it again to connect. No matter which update from Jelly Bean on, it was never fixed. It caused lots of problems with Texting/MMS and other Data connections.
For a long while now I have used Effortless Rom and LTE connections have worked flawlessly on his rom. No problems with Texting or MMS or other data connections. It just works.
Is the LTE switching and connecting been fixed on the Stock T-Mobile Lollipop update?
Anyone who has updated to Stock T-Mobile Lollipop, if you could kindly comment on this would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to deal with my phone not sending/receiving text/mms and the browser not connecting while on LTE again. Having to toggle Airplane mode on and off was such an annoyance.
Thanks.

I'm having this very problem on the new 5.0 update. It's so frustrating and random. I have to do the Airplane Mode trick also. I really hope this gets sorted out.

Are you on Stock ROM? I am on TEKHD's URv2 ROM and I have no issues. I didn't have that issue on DomPop either. I think its best if you are on the newest firmware and also flash per directions.

Come on over and give DomPop URv2.1 or DomPop v.5.0.8 a try. Make sure you update at least your modem to FOB6 and you shouldn't have any problems. We have great service and LTE connectivity. Just to make sure, you do have an N900T Note 3 correct?

Yes N900T and latest modem, CSC, and everything else. I'm on DomPop URv2.1, but I've been having a different LTE problem on THAT ROM now, lol. I can't connect to Netflix on my mobile network. So weird
