UBU0BOI2 SystemUI Update - 2015/11/22
A Samsung bug was found in the expanded status bar - expanded panel showed up at top & bottom of screen when first pulling down. It has been fixed. Also, you now have a choice for SystemUI options: 1) stock, 2) clock centered, 3) clock/date centered. Options are in install script.

If you can, look at the folder /system/etc/wifi. There should be 33 files in that folder. If there is only 25, then that is the problem. If there are 33 files, then try a re-install.
During setup you should be asked to connect to Wifi. Were you?
Did you connect successfully?

finally somebody make a custom 901
what krnel did u use, can it read ntfs flashdrive / hard drive?

Kernel is stock except for minor ramdisk mods for superuser.

Can this be used on the WiFi only exynos version?

Not sure. But you can try. Make sure you do a backup first.

Thanks ....
However I tried to reset the note, clear cache and dalvick cache and re-install a fresh copy.
The wifi works fine during the first steps of configuartion (google sign in, samasung accounts) then after that the same problem occurs.
wifi stops working and hangs.
I can`t turn it off/on.
airplane mode did not help.
After 3 times of resetting and re-installing. I decided to flash the stock rom.
I will try to re-install this rom after fixing wifi problem.

Did you do a data wipe? If yes, then I have no idea. Never seen or heard that happen before.
If you did not do a data wipe, then try that as something in your saved settings might be causing the problem.
EDIT: If you can, please send me a listing of the files in /system/etc/wifi and a copy of your /system/build.prop file.
EDIT2: Attached is a modified build.prop file. Please reinstall rom, wait for the auto reboot after you configure tablet (after 1st boot), then reboot into recovery and install the build.prop.zip file. Let me know the results

Updated ROM to XXUANK2 version.

I tried to reset and flash a fresh copy..... with no success to keep wifi working.
Then I tried to clear cache, dalvik cache.... same problem.
Now I am using the stock firmware till someone else confirms that wifi is working correctly.

I have had this happen on my Note 3 with stock firmware (ROM outside my region) a while back and ended up using someone else's custom rom. They knew how to set regional wifi info.
From what I have read, you could try wifi fix manager of the play store o some other wifi fix. It makes changes to your regional wifi settings.

Great rom....thank you for supporting p901.
my wifi works fine but forgets the password for the connection everytime it reboots.
camera on my p901 wont work.gives a fail error.
tahnks for the custom rom again.:good::good:

Thanks for the feedback.
I posted a note about wifi passwords in the Q&A section. You may want to take a look. SM-P901 WIFI Passwords Post #8
I will check camera issue later this AM. CHECKED: No problems with the camera. Takes picture okay.

I will look into it. I have never used exposed, so I will have to research how to integrate it.

Bluetooth
Does the lollipop rom have the bluetooth bug that prevents it from using bluetooth keyboards, especially the logitech note pro keyboard? This was a huge issue on stock 5.0.2 worldwide, fixed in almost all variants except p901. If someone can confirm this works with non-samsung bluetooth keyboards, I wouldn't mind, I'm tired of waiting for lousy Samsung to update.

Then To the fun Part, Flashing LeeDrOiD One Xtreme rom
Q 1: How do I flash this ROM? (New LeeDrOiD One Xtreme v.6.0.2 boot img)
1. Boot to recovery
2. Nandroid backup
3. Flash the ROM.zip
4. Boot to bootloader
5. Flash the boot.img from HERE MD5# bb129bed56ec352cfae4661b9a8e5cbe using "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
5. Run "fastboot erase cache"
6. Run "fastboot reboot"
7. Enjoy your Ice Cream Sandwich
Q 2: Available Radios
Have a look @this here
Q 3: Sense or No-Sense Launcher?
Have a look @this thread HERE
Q 4: "I dont like the green WiFi icons / transparent notification area"
Have a look @post 3 in this thread. Mattmanwrx makes magic there
Q 6: Should I use a task killer on the LD ROM?
Not recommended, is you really want to, use the one that came with the rom.(Lee would say, NO!)
Q 7: Backup? What is that?
A good idea is to back up all your data and settings from the phone before flashing a new rom with a full wipe. Best app available is Titanium Back up(included in the ROM)
The best way to back up the contacts is to sync it via HTC Sync or via your gmail.
Q 8: Are Nandroid and Titanium backup the same thing? How do I manage backups?
No, Nandroid backs up the ROM and Titanium backs up the applications. Nandroid is what you do using the recovery and it makes the exact image of your ROM along with the data.
Q 9: On what occasion will I lose my data (apps, contacts etc)?
Only when you flash the rom wiping data using the Aroma installer option. (see next question, Answer 3). When you just flash a rom or a .zip from recovery, it will not wipe anything unless otherwise mentioned.
Q 10: I was on stock (or another rom from another cook) and I flashed LeeDroiD ROM, now I am having some problems.1. Try to rebooting the Phone and see if it makes a difference.
2. Reboot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik, reboot the phone and clear data of the apps causing problem.
3. Reboot into recovery, reflash the rom choosing full wipe in the installer.
Q 11: How do I flash Full wipe or Superwipe and what does it erase?Reboot into recovery, install a zip from sd card option, select the rom, follow the Aroma installer and select "Flash with wiping all (or something to that effect )
Q 12: The screen is not very responsive and is lagging.
Let the phone settle down a bit after you unlock it. It generally needs a few seconds to kick up the CPU.
Q 13: The market is not installing anything. Gives error.
Reboot into recovery and select “clear cache partition”. And under settings - applications - Manage applications - under the Market app < Clear Data>.
Q 14: My battery is draining heavily.
When you first flash a ROM this is what happens. Give it atleast one full charge cycle and it should come back to normal. If required, reboot into recovery and clear battery stats. It is advisable to do so on 100%.
Common Opinion - Heavy battery drain is one thing that you cannot complain about on this rom, for sure. The battery life is much above average
It's NOT recommended to empty the battery, it may course a poorer battery performance and life cyclus.
Read what member Wolfraim discovered HERE
Q15: Should I run the phone battery to zero percent, and what if it does??
A: Absolutely not! Both the current recoveries are giving problems while pulling the battery up from zero percent. If the phones dies off due to battery being zero, try to reboot it into recovery, flash the stock recovery. If it doesnt, then plug it into the wall charger and leave it for as long as it takes for you to boot it. Then flash the stock recovery, charge it fully and do your stuff.
Q16: MMS Problem?
A: Please check your APN settings.
Q17: Some games that use the motion/G sensor are not working as they should.
A: Re-Calibrate your Gsensor –> Settings – Display – Gsensor Callibration
Q18: I dont like the animations. Dont want them.
A: Go to settings - display - animations.
Q19: How do I change the bootanimation or the downanimation?
A: System\Customize\Resource or System/Data/Local. Replace the boot/down animation.zip file with the one you want. The new file must be named bootanimation.zip/downanimation.zip.
Q20: Can I modify frequencies using SetCPU/System tuner?
A: Avoid set cpu/system tuner at this stage. It is causing much troubles. The app needs to be updated for Quad-core usage.
Q21: GPS Problems?
A: Try faster fix app here from the market. Has helped a few members.
Q22: I am having difficulties assigning ringtones from my SD card on the 4.0 sense.
A: Go to contact, select ringtone. Select ADD where it shows a list of system ringtone - Now it should take you to your music and tones on the SD card. Select the one that you want and click OK. Back on the system ringtones, scroll to find the newly added tone and select it.
Thanks for kind assistance as always to my dear friend Senior Moderator PG101

LeeDrOiD Extras
LeeDrOiD Extras consists of themeing mods, trying to take a little off Lee's back.
This flashable.zip uses the aroma installer, so it is a one zip flash for most of your LeeDrOiD themeing matters
Non-Transparent Notification Area
Non-Transparent Notification Area + Stock Sense WiFi Icons
Non-Transparent Notification Area + Stock Sense WiFi Icons + Stock Sense Battery (removes battery percentage mod)
Stock Battery (removes battery percentage mod)
Stock Sense WiFi Icons (removes the LeeDrOiD modded green icons)
Stock Sense WiFi Icons + Stock Sense Battery (removes the LeeDrOiD modded green icons + battery percentage mod)
Stock LeeDrOiD (The way Lee releases the rom, will put everything back to stock LeeDrOiD out of the box rom)
This also use the VillianRom VRTheme method for themeing, so it should be compatible with *all* LeeDrOiD One Xtreme releases, however, I may need to update it from time to time.
It could also be possible to be used with other themes, for instance, you could flash the non-transparent notification area + my Blue Status Bar mods in the theme section.
If you have anything to add/a request, please quote post/PM me and I will see if it is possible to add it.
Click Here To Go To My Downloads Page
(ad revenue helps pay for my time! )
I do not plan to add themes to this post, there is a whole forum for themes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Attached to this post is a 6.4 notification fix - made by me - using Lee's help (from a post a while ago) and using VRTheme (so themes stay intact! )
And another one
RED-STEEL Theme for the OneX (not OneX+)
Based on 3.14.401.31 Android 4.1.1 Sense 4+
This is my 1st attempt at theming so be gentle with me.....
I've made a flashable zip (works on TWRP recovery....not tested CWM) to install.
Any testers or feedback would be muchly appreciated.
The theme uses the stock Steel skin as a base for its red highlights and toggles.
Notification bar's been made from scratch.... so testing by others would be appreciated.
This is a Work In Progress and I'll be theming but I dont want to just paint everything red for the sake of it.
Other apk's will be themed and the version updated.
As with any modifications, you flash at your own risk.
If your phone, gran or your dog mysteriously spontaniously-combust's..... its not my doing.
COMPATABILITY
Confirmed working on BugX 2.4 onward.
Based on 3.14.401.31 Android 4.1.1 Sense 4+ so should work on several Current JB Roms.
I use this daily on Sebs BugX rom and have zero issues.
This theme may well affect any other mods you might have flashed so
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP 1ST.
INSTALLATION
For best results, flash your rom selecting system only wipe.
(This will restore the stock SystemUI, frameworks etc)
Reboot the phone.
Boot back into recovery and flash the theme zip.
Remember, this uses the steel skin so you need to select:
Settings>Personalize>Skin and select Steel.
UNINSTALL?
The easiest way to revert to stock is restore the nandroid backup you made prior to installing RedSteel.
Alternatively, flash your rom again without wiping. (All data and setting should be maintained)
Download
latest version (V8)
CHANGELOG
v8 Added subtle red highlights to several key apk's - (14/01/13)
v7 Fixed code errors in Installer script - (13/01/13)
v6 Initial release for testing - (13/01/13)
Hey everyone - me again, resident no-one-in-particular. Much like my previous forays into "projects"... I'm finally getting to where I feel good about posting this little mess - and it only took 4 months! Clearly I am still lacking a bit in the speed department, but hopefully folks enjoy what I've managed to muster together so far. This was originally based on the stock UVUDNF1 T-Mobile TouchWiz 4.4.2 and is now based on the stock UVUDNF9 4.4.2 base - the most recent official update at the time of writing this post... In other words - this is a stock modified T-Mobile rom! As I already mentioned this took quite a while to put together as a number of my tinkerings had to be more or less reworked from scratch (stemming from tinkerings on other devices and changes between 4.3 and 4.4.2 - and even between 4.4.2 builds), but on the upside I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out.
It should be noted that I still consider this a work in progress, so even though there are a number of things that I still want to include - at the time of writing this post I feel enough is done to warrant it actually being posted. That way others (assuming others give it a shot) can let me know if things don't work or if any oddities come up. Also feel free to comment on how this might improve, if I've gone about anything in a not-so-smart way, or if there is anything you would like to see (or wish wasn't there) - I can't promise I'll do anything about it, but such requests keep me motivated and learning, and thats been the driving force behind my tinkering since it began really
I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS (GOOD OR BAD) AS A RESULT OF FLASHING OR ATTEMPTING TO FLASH WHAT IS POSTED HERE!
In an attempt to keep things clear and concise, see below for links to posts containing various bits of should-be-read info on what this is all about.
changelog
- Fix the Call Forwarding FC in call settings
- Fix the ebay search issue
- Added in some stuff to the toggle resets (both in SecSettings and TSMParts) that can help if the torch toggle guts "stuck" (I've seen this happen when there are FC issues involving SystemUI or Keyguard)
- Redid one aspect of a wifi calling check that wasn't working in SecContacts, so hopefully ATT folks will no longer have (or at the very least a decreased number of) force closes involving SecContacts
- Fixed the "bug not found" - the secure camera widget mod wasn't working correctly (originally visibility was attached to a stock swipe lockscreen setting over the tsm option; it also did not work on pattern/signature lock)
- Just for funsies I also worked in the fix for the SystemServer crash based on the xposed mod put together by thomashoffmann
KRYON THEME
FOR THE GALAXY NOTE 3 on ATT & TMO RUNNING TWEAKED NF1 KITKAT ROM O N L Y
KRYON THEME is a new theme that digs a little deeper into your Touchwiz ROM's DNA. Its not just image work, but expanding into the smallest things and exploring/exposing new ideas that will make Touchwiz become almost a new UI feel. With KRYON THEMEs, I wanted to merge that edgy taste with a bit of class, to the Touchwiz experience while driving that happy feel and sleek look through out. As an avid AOSP lover, I simply love the Note 3 and all its glory, just not the hideous look of stock TW. KRYON THEME hopes to make you smile
These versions are IN BETA RELEASE and consists of the Main Structures-Framework, SecSettings, SecContacts, SecPhone, SystemUi, S5-Mms, Calculator, Job Manager, MultiWindowTray, MusicPlayerWT, Camera and Clock of course there is more to come. Just getting started...
TWRP Installation instructions:
While this rom does offer some customizable options at install - THE CUSTOMIZATION PROCESS IS NOT QUITE THE SAME AS OTHER ROMS!!
What does this mean? Well, if you want to tailor your installation using some of the available options, you'll have to read up on how to do so.
Wut?!? I have to read then!?! NOO!!!!
LOL - well like I said you really don't HAVE to read about this, it's only if you want to customize things outside of the default setup. If you don't want to customize anything, then simply flash the main TweakedN3 zip and be on your way. NOTE:Info on default and custom install options can be found during aroma interactions or in the installation instructions zip!
So you want to customize the install? Sounds good - and read on.
This was an idea that I started using over on the Note2, but the end result leaves two custom install approaches that lead to the same result. One advantage (for those that like customizing a bit at install anyway) is that after an initial step - you will no longer need to go through aroma and reselect options when reinstalling (assuming you don't delete some files in a particular directory of course). This should be a boon to those that enjoy flashing this and that, as the process of reinstalling complete with customized options will now be much faster. NOTE: Unless you use the default approach you will most likely need to edit/redo this process for each update to make sure all new/edited options are up-to-date! This isn't excessively relevant yet, but it will be soon enough I imagine.
A complete explanation of the advanced approach can be found in this post, but the focus here is on the approach most fitting to the general (or new-to-flashing) user.
Before getting into that though, remember that the usual rules still apply:
- While very much stable in my experience you should be cautious whenever you flash. Make sure to wipe data/factory reset to avoid issues.
- I highly recommend wiping data (or even in extreme cases flashing the UVUDNF9 ODIN file - this has been shown anecdotally to not be necessary, but still it's good to note that you can grab such files via kies or from here - search for N900T and grab the most recent one - registration on the site is required, but is also free) before getting started with any of this. This is just a recommendation - not a requirement - and yes, if you flash an ODIN file that means you will have to reflash a custom recovery before moving forward.
- Tweaked needs to be flashed in a custom recovery - I recommend TWRP myself. There are reports that CWM itself does not work with this, but recoveries based off it like PhilZs seem fine. Just note that the only one I've tested this on is TWRP - so tread cautiously if treading elsewhere This should of course imply that you will need to already have such things in place if you are interested in giving this a try. For what its worth - I have been using TWRP for quite a long time on the Note3 and have been quite happy with the results.
THE SUPER SIMPLE SAFE APPROACH
Well the super simplest of all approaches would be to just flash the main install zip. For those that tried any of the alpha/beta zips discussed here the result will be very similar to what was experienced with those.
Now, if you want to have a little more say in what gets installed, and you don't care much for the underpinnings of it all, then this is all you really need to know to install Tweaked:
- Download TWO zip files from the downloads post
--- The basic approach prepare install zip
--- The main TweakedN3 UVUDNF9 zip
- Boot into custom (e.g. TWRP) recovery (if not already there)
- It's STRONGLY recommended to wipe data/factory reset
- FIRST flash the basic approach prepare install zip
--- This is an aroma-style interface where you choose from install options
- THEN without rebooting flash the main TweakedN3 UVUDNF1 zip
- Nod in approval that while different the process was still easy
Just for the sake of comparison, below is what I would consider the general fits-whatever-install-approach-you-chose installation instructions:
THE GENERAL APPROACH
- Backup your current setup/data
- Decide which install route (basic/advanced/default) is best for you
- Download the main installer and put it on your internal/external sdcard
- If you decided on the advanced or basic install route, download relevant zip for said approach
- If you decided on advanced, set up the file(s) and place them on internal/external sdcard as instructed
- If you decided on basic, place zip on your internal/external sdcard
- Boot into custom (e.g. TWRP) recovery (if not already there)
- Recommended to wipe data/factory reset
- If you decided on basic, flash the basic installer zip
- Finally, select and install the main installer .zip you put on your sdcard
How to custom install Tweaked
So you've decided to customize the install a bit eh? Good to hear.
NOTE: For this approach please be aware that the process will likely need to be redone with new versions to make sure you have access to all available options!
I will try to keep changes to these files minimal, but changes are inevitable, so make sure to stay up-to-date with the version you are flashing, as otherwise you will likely get the default install!
ALSO - with both custom install approaches you can place the TweakedInstall directory on either the internal or external sdcard. That being said, in general if you have a TweakedInstall directory on BOTH your external AND internal sdcard, the files in the external sdcard directory will be chosen over those in the internal sdcard directory. Furthermore - it is VERY important that you DO NOT RENAME ANY OF THE FILES OR THE DIRECTORY! If you do you will likely get a default install when flashing the main installer (not the worst thing of course).
----- ADVANCED -----
This approach requires changes you will have to do, and therefore needs a little reading and preparing ahead of time. In order to help things along, I've put together a zip file (see downloads post here) with instructions and needed files - make sure to read the... well, the README! The contents of that readme file are below:
--- From the READMEFIRST-INSTRUCTIONS.txt in the TMoInstallInfo.zip file ---
########################################################
# HOW TO CUSTOM INSTALL USING ADVANCED APPROACH: #
########################################################
1) Decide if you will be editing text files on the computer or the phone
- regardless of where you do this, the result must go in a specific directory on your internal/external sdcard (see below)
- if you use a computer to edit, make sure it uses the Unix-style end-of-line character (you can use Notepad++ on a PC)
- Not all text editors work as you need them to if doing this on the phone - I have only tried it using the built-in text editor in Root Explorer
######## THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND A SOURCE FOR SIMPLE MISTAKES - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! ########
2) Extract the TweakedInstall folder
- Inside are four files - the main one of interest is install.prop
3) Open install.prop and read the instructions
- it is on this file you select options
- this is similar in idea to how it was done in aroma
- ALL you are doing with this is changing the numbers that come after the = signs
- DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE! ONLY NUMBERS!
- Follow the instructions for what each number means for each choice
4) Complete any other OPTIONAL file edits per how you want to install
OPTIONS INCLUDE (these are for the more advanced users around - THEY ARE NOT NEEDED AND CAN BE IGNORED):
- If you opted to further debloat beyond available options and have set dangertweak to = 1
- edit the applist file with the apk name that you want removed
- ONE APK PER LINE
- see baseapplist.txt for a list of apk names that are included on /system as "default"
- If you opted to keep some pre-existing system files and have set savelist to = 1
- edit the savelist file with the full path to the file you want saved
- so for example if you wanted to save a script file called 02ForExample that was in the init.d folder, you would enter
/system/etc/init.d/02ForExample
into the savelist file
- ONE PATH PER LINE
5) Make sure the directory along with your newly-edited files are moved to your sdcard if not already
### IMPORTANT: THIS DIRECTORY HAS TO BE AT THE ROOT OF YOUR SDCARD (INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL)!! ###
### IMPORTANT: THE NAME OF THIS DIRECTORY MUST NOT CHANGE!! ###
### IMPORTANT: YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!! ###
6) Boot into recovery and flash the main installer zip
TAKE HOME:
The edited install.prop file (and optional ones related to it) being kept in the TweakedInstall directory on your sdcard will make it so you won't need to do any choosing the next time you want to flash the main installer. You can always come back to or reflash Tweaked exactly how you have set it up with no extra effort!
--- End READMEFIRST-INSTRUCTIONS.txt -
The hope is that these instructions are as simple but as thorough as possible for those wanting to embark on the advanced customizing approach.
FAQ
Q: What the hell is TSMParts (new option in Settings menu)?
A: An interface for a huge slew of mods and tweaks, the base of which was originally put together by the original members of TSM and has since been inspired by impressive works of numerous others - the TSM Parts interface acts as a control for all of the customizable fun available. There are a large number of options there - so make sure to check them all out!
Q: TSMParts is asking for superuser access?!?
A: Yep - there are some options that will need it, so make sure you grant it!
Q: I'm having overlap issues with statusbar icons and center clock - what should I do?
A: Yeah - things may overlap, so you will have to either change settings to avoid the issue or just deal with it.
Q: I set a statusbar icon to hide, but it's still there. What gives?
A: The statusbar icon tweaks may require a little effort on your part for changes to take effect. All changes can be elicited with a reboot/hotboot, BUT for most there are other ways:
-- Bluetooth/vibrate-silent/alarm icons/ime/nfc/wificalling -- just change their state (on/off or vibrate/sound, etc)
-- No sim -- if the notification is already active you will need to reboot/hotboot to hide it
-- smart "eye" icon -- changes will happen once the eye triggers
Q: How is battery life on this rom?
A: This is a stock modified rom. As such, battery life will be equivalent to stock were you to be running a similar array of apps and kernel - it really should be no different than stock otherwise (which imo is not half bad really). The kernel and misbehaving 3rd party apps have more to do with battery life than a modified stock rom - at least in my opinion (and experience, though it's limited).
Q: So tethering is a common topic... can it be done with this?
A: Truth is tethering should work on any stock modified rom. The upsell avoidance is what people are really after - and much like others who lay the claim - I did a little work in an attempt to avoid such things. That being said, there are one or two common things I've heard that are helpful in attaining such a goal.
- The first is switching the APN protocol from IPv6 to IPv4/IPv6
- The second is disabling VoLTE
I know little to understand why these things should have an impact, but reports indicate they do - so there you go
Q: Why isn't the accurate data icon mod working!!?!
A: The only time that mod shows an effect is when you are on the T-Mobile or ATT network - I don't believe other networks will see a change in data icon behavior.
Q: What is this LMT thing? How do you use it?
A: You need to check out noname81's thread here for info on that!
Q: Why can't I toggle off/on the security settings for exchange-based emails using the stock email client?
A: Mostly because I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. As long as you set it up to how you want PRIOR to setting up the account, AND you don't change the setting later - you should be fine.
Q: Why is it that when I swap the settings UI type the settings icon itself seems to move in the app drawer?
A: The toggling of the two UI types make the SecSettings package "appear" different to the system, so it's location in the app drawer may change after toggling depending on the launcher and settings used. This is normal and of no concern.
Q: I have an N9005 - can I flash this?
A: Thankfully the N9005 can pretty much flash any N900T rom, but there can be issues with things like wifi/bluetooth/nfc. Thanks to some due diligence searching of @galaningenieros and his pointing to the good work of @cdmvirt here, you can fix it right up by flashing the files found in this post!
Q: I'm getting a force close when I try toggling N3/S5 in TSMParts > Statusbar options... WHY YOU MAKE ME BREAK MY PHONE?!?!!
A: This has been an odd one, but it appears as if the blame resides within a few xposed modules. In particular, the iOS battery module and wanam have both been implicated. I will try to come up with a way around it, but if you uninstall these modules your toggling experiences should improve.
Q: I flashed this in safestrap and either used an old install.prop or none at all - why did I get an AT&T install?!?
A: I did this on purpose - I made it so when flashing it assumes that if you are using the default install.prop and in safestrap that you want an ATT-ified install (assumes you have an N900A and ATT as a service provider). If this is NOT the case - you can override this by updating or setting up a current install.prop
Q: Why don't you mention blah blah blah in your FAQ? It would have helped me a lot!
A: My bad - PM me anything you think should be added to this that would be helpful for the general user base!
Miscellaneous Notes:
- REMEMBER - Regardless of what install approach you use you can always use the Modificatinator to un/re/do virtually ANY of the options available to you in the main install! No need to reflash the whole rom!
Even if you don't use it right away, make sure to GRAB THE MODIFICATINATOR HERE NOW so you have it if you want it later!!
- Even though the full install is not really aroma-based (definitely aroma-inspired though) the modificatinator is, as is the zip relevant to the basic install approach, so make sure to check out this thread and this thread and thank amarullz for the awesome work!
- Updates that come after the initial release MAY also have a flash-update-only option - whether or not it does just depends on the specifics of the update. NOTE: Depending on what is updated, an update-only flashable may break things if you are themed! I will try to avoid this as much as possible, but all it takes is a minor edit to a framework-res.apk string (for example) to necessitate an overwriting of a file typically quite important for themers (resources.arsc) - just be mindful of this please
- As the Note3 is privy to a number of ROMs and kernels, for the sake of simplicity I have included the unaugmented UVUDNF9 stock kernel as an option (fyi no kernel is flashed by default).
PLEASE NOTE: Individual phones seem to vary quite a bit in terms of stability/usability when it comes to kernels, so if you are having any issues like unexpected shutdowns or reboots, freezes, etc. - PLEASE switch to the stock kernel first to see if that is the culprit. That is the one that will work (well it should anyway lol) on any and all phones, so if yours happens to be a temperamental one please be mindful of what you pick and aware of the consequences such picks may elicit!
- This is still pretty much an unthemed rom - so if any would like to change this PLEASE let me know (a themer I am not!). This is reflective of the thinking behind the whole setup as being nothing more than stock with some extra options. On that note - for those that like flashing various mods and what not, be wary - unless it specifies that it was made to work with Tweaked it likely will not.
- If you are unable to grab a logcat of a force close/issue, there is a directory on your phone that may contain files I can use in a similar way.
/data/log/ is the directory, and the files that offer tidbits and clues as to what the issue was start with the name "dumpstate_". If you send those to me along with an explanation of what went wrong, I will be much quicker to figuring out (and hopefully resolving) the issue!
You honest devs are all alike. Just sharing and not worrying about whom gets or gives credit.
Just preoccupied with helping others and getting in on the party.
Just despicably good behavior.
How dare you sir.
What does this rom feature? Well it is based off from the latest G935FXXU2ERG2 (Oreo) base, with all apps removed that can be downloaded threw the playstore, so it is debloated as well. I really like touchwiz as it is on 8.0, that's why I only mode some small modifications to samsungs firmware.
In the future I will add some mods as well, but at the moment I'm confident with the mods I got
You have a question and want to check if it already has been answered? Please check the Q&A Post!
Who should install this rom? All people who like samsungs stock interface with some modifications
Also I'd like to make the super fast experience of the s7 even faster, with even more batterylife, let's see if this can be true
Nobody is allowed to take stuff from my rom without asking me! Thank you.
Rom review (thanks to @shark jungle):
How to install the rom:
For guys who install roms all day:
1. Be sure you got latest TWRP installed, encryption disabled and OEM Unlock ticked
2. Bootloader and modem should be up to date (can also be updated within aroma installer)
3. Flash rom and don't chose magisk in aroma, it messes with the dalvik-cache build on startup
4. In case you want VoLTE and Wifi calling make sure you got your csc installed
For guys who already have some knowledge about android and Roms:
0. Make sure you have a not encrypted device and OEM unlock is enabled in developer settings!!
1. Download the LATESTTWRP recovery(from here: TWRP) and follow the instructions on the TWRP page to get a working recovery (this step is essential!)
2. Download the rom and put it on your external SD card
3. Backup all your things to your external SD card (apps with Titanium Backup for example)
4. It's recommend to update your bootloader to G930FXXU2ERG2 and modem to G930FXXU2ERG2. You can update manually via odin flashing the files from here or update the Bootloader and modem via the aroma installer (only F/FD models can update BL/CP during flashing progress!)
5. If you have to install the bootloader and modem, boot into download mode and flash the bootloader and modem with latest odin using CP and BL tab
6. After you successfully installed your new bootloader and modem, boot your phone to your TWRP recovery
7. Now wipe everything (in TWRP: wipe, format data (keyboard will pop up), type yes, reboot recovery
8. Install the rom and DON'T chose magisk! That is important as it messes up dalvik-cache build on first boot
9. Install your providers/carriers csc
10. Reboot and wait around 10 minute (deodexed roms need longer to boot the first time)
11. Don't interrupt the process of booting the phone, even when it restarts
12. After successfull boot, setup your phone with the initial screens
13. Reboot your phone into TWRP and flash magisk (find it here)
14. After setting up your account etc. go to romcontrol, grant it root access that my default Settings can be applied!
15. Enjoy the new rom version
For guys who are beginner on android:
1. Start your phone, go to settings, about device, software info and hit build.number around 10 times so developer options will show up
2. Open developer options and tick: OEM unlock
3. Shut your phone off
4. You now need a computer, download latest odin
5. You have two possibilites: 1. Update bootloader and modem during aroma installation of the rom (F/FD/W8 model only!). Or 2. Update bootloader and modem via Odin. To update manually via odin, please do following: Download this two files, BL is bootloader and CP is the modem: Choose your correct model version
6. Boot your phone into download mode by pressing: home+volume down+power on
7. Open the downloaded odin on your windows pc and click on BL tab and add the file that name begins with BL (bootloader), same for CP (modem) tab
8. After this, reboot to download mode again
9. Install TWRP (latest one is needed to support new BL's) will be next step, for this, follow all steps provided in this forum: TWRP Thread (booting into download mode: press home+volume down+power on, booting into recovery mode press: home+volume up+power on)
10. When you got TWRP working: We need to disable encryption, for this you should boot into recovery mode (as described above)
11. To get rid of encryption, go to "wipe", format data (keyboard will pop up) then type "yes" and format it, then reboot to recovery
12. After flashing this, hit wipe, full wipe (this will clean all internal memory and your data will be lost!!)
13. You can test if encryption is still enabled, if TWRP shows error about not mounting /data your phone is still encrypted
14. Now you can download the rom onto your PC and then transfer it via usb to your phone
15. It is rom installing time install the rom! One important thing to mention here: don't chose magisk as root. Why? It messes up dalvik-cache on first boot and that will result in a lagging device. We will setup magisk later on.
16. Install your desired CSC right after rom install! That's the best way. You find the link below.
17. After successfully installing the rom and csc hit reboot and you are good to go!
18. After successfull boot, setup your phone with the initial screens
19. After the initial setup, boot into twrp recovery and install the magisk zip. You can download it from here.
20. After flashing the magisk etc. go to romcontrol, grant it root access that my default Settings can be applied!
21. Enjoy the new rom version
22. If you want you can use my csc selection to get your desired csc, if you want that you can grab it here: CSC Selection V2.4.5
Questions and Answers
Basic Questions:
Q: How to get into Download Mode?
A: Power off your phone, than hold: home + volume down + power on button until you see the download mode.
Q: How to get into Recovery Mode?
A: Power off your phone, than hold: home + volume up + power on button until you see the recovery mode.
Q: My Phone is stuck at boot and doesn't start, what to do??
A: Update your bootloader and modem. Also make sure you have made a fresh install of the rom. Bootloader and Modem can be found in the OP. Another problem can be that you are didn't decrypt your phone. To fix this read below how to disable encryption.
Q: Do I need to update bootloader and modem after every update?
A: It's recommend to update your bootloader and modem everytime there is a new base yes. The developer will tell you if necessary on every rom changelog.
Q: I get verification failed at start up!?!? My phone is broken now?
A: Yes, you have to buy a new phone now. Just kidding You did not disable force encryption in TWRP (how to do so you will find below in how to decrypt your phone).
Q: I get verification FRP LOCK? WHYYYYYY???
A: Very simple answer, you did not enable OEM Unlock in developer options. Now you need to flash full rom with odin again and start from scratch. But don't forget to enable OEM Unlock this time!
Q: Which devices are supported at the moment?
A: Current supported devices are: SM-G930F/FD/K/L/S/W8. Snapdragons are NOT supported
Q: Is this rom working on Snapdragon 820 variants?
A: No, sadly not.
Q: I want to change something in my rom setup, how can I do that?
A: Simply reflash the same rom version without any wipe and than choose the correct things you want.
Q: Some features are not present in this rom, but they are on stock rom, so where are they?
A: In aroma installer you have the option to select bloat you want to install or not, you probably didn't select all package, this is why it's missing now.
Q: After a clean install my phone is overblated with many custom settings. What to do?
A: Open my romcontrol, grant it root permissions and then my default settings will be applied.
Q: Will you add X or Y feature?
A: You can kindly ask in the thread for that, if I like your suggestion I will think about adding it to the rom.
Q: You said you fixed SD card RW but Titanium Backup can't write to external SD card, why???
A: This is because of googles changes concerning SD card, to fix this open Titanium Backup, Menu, Preferences, Backup Folder Location, Storage provider and than hit DocumentProvider Storage and select your SD card. Problem solved
Q: I can't find X and Y mod. Please help
A: I've added many links and useful stuff to this post here. Hope that's what you have been looking for!
Q: I want to have my external storage like an internal as well. Google introduced it with android Marshmallow, but I can't see this option?
A: Just follow this Guide here and you can setup your SD card as normal storage
Q: I got a new strange icon appearing after nougat update. What's that?
A: This is a new advanced calling feature introduced in android nougat. Should make your call quality better or something like this. To hide it please visit following forum: Get rid of RCS icon
Q: I installed Viper or other sound mods, but they won't work, why?
A: You most likely missed to freeze sound alive, if you did this and it's still not working you it's due to the kernel. Stock kernel doesn't support these mods since we need a permissive kernel!
Questions concerning rom updates:
Q: Do I have to do a full wipe for the new version?
A: It is always the best option to make a clean install, otherwise please don't come and report bugs!
Q: But I don't want to make a full wipe when only small stuff changed!
A: For updates using the same bases you can install the rom with a dirty flash. BUT with a new base a clean install is highly recommend!
Q: What steps should I do to update to a new version with a full wipe but keep all data?
A: There are some different ways. One way is to make a backup with Titanium Backup, you can backup all Apps and Preferences there. Make sure to store this backup on external SD card (if you have one). Second way would be to save your data onto a google account or samsung cloud and restore it after a clean install.
Q: I miss an apk after rom update, how can I get it back?
A: Simply reflash rom and select "dirty flash" in aroma + select the app this time in aroma.
Q: My battery life is so bad and performance is very poor after an update!?!?
A: This comes actually not form the rom itself, dirty flash can cause problems even if only some small things have been changed. So simply install it clean again and it will solve your problem.
Q: Performance and battery is very poor even after clean install. What should I do now?
A: I assume you installed Xposed than, some modules can cause batterydrain and performance problems. So try to make a clean install of the rom WITHOUT xposed installed.
Questions about log and logcats:
Q: I got FC's and other Problems with the rom, what to do?
A: Take a logcat for me, developers use to say: without a log, it never happened . A logcat can be grabed with a PC and ADB installed, simply type: adb logcat > log.txt while your phone is connected and the error is happening. Same can be done if you have a terminal installed on your phone. Simply type adb logcat > log.txt and you will have the same output as on the PC.
Q: What kind of logs can I provide to help you?
A: Logcat: This one is for general infos about FC's
DMESG: this is for kernel related things
Last_Kmsg: this can be used after a random reboot
Q: How to get logs?
A: 1. Connect your phone to your pc
2. Make sure you got usb debugging enabled
3. Install Minimal ADB tool
4. After install open it and type: adb logcat > logcat.txt, adb shell dmesg > dmesg.log, adb shell cat proc/last_kmsg kmsg.log
5. Send me the file you got
You can also send me a log created by your phones terminal with the exact same commands!
Questions about RomControl:
Q: None of my romcontrol changes do anything, why are you such a bad dev!?!?
A: The problem is not on my end, you installed stock systemUI (which is STOCK and does not support one single mod). Use another one in aroma instead. The same thing can happen with good lock!
Q: Romcontrol gives FC's to me. HELP!
A: Very simple answer here: wipe data and cache from superman control application. Also make sure storage permissions are given to the romcontrol.
Q: Romcontrol still FC after cleaning data and cache!
A: Make sure you allow storage permission in main settings.
Q: I try to backup my current RomControl setup, but it won't work?
A: It works. Just make sure to enable storage permission in main samsung applicatoin settings. You will find it in internal sdcard under RomControl folder.
Q: I can't restore SuperMan control settings after a clean base update, why?
A: Backup for SuperMan control only works as long as you use the same version of the app, I mostly change very much things in new releases that's why it won't work there.
Q: SystemUI reboot doesn't work in SuperMan settings app, why?
A: Since Nougat update, you need to install busybox in order to get this button working. Without busybox the button will just do nothing.
Q: I enabled weather on lockscreen but I can't see anything...
A: You probably didn't setup or even installed samsungs weather widget. Without it weather on lockscreen won't work too. So reflash the rom with the widget installed this time and set it up.
How to go back to stock:
Q: I like to go back to stock rom, how is this possible?
A: I can provide you here all steps which are needed to go back to a full stock rom.
0. Make a backup and than wipe all partitions in TWRP
1. Go to Sammobile and choose your country
2. Download the file and the attached Odin on sammobile
3. After downloading, put your phone into download mode
4. Make sure drivers are installed and your pc can detect your phone in odin
5. If the box in odin turns blue, add the AP file to AP tab, BL file to BL tab, CP file to CP tab and CSC_HOME to CSC tab
6. Hit start and wait until it is finished.
7. Reboot and you have a stock rom again
Questions about Encryption:
Q: On TWRP there is an error about /data mount, what to do?
A: Your device is encrypted, follow the steps below to get rid of your encryption.
Q: Help, I never had a code and now after installing the rom my phone asks for a password??
A: Your device is still encrypted, on step 0 of my rom instructions it tells you to be sure you're not. So, what do you need to to in case you are still encrypted.
A: HOW TO DISABLE ENCRYPTION:
1. Boot into TWRP
2. Select Wipe
3. Select format data
4. Then you manually need to type "yes" with the keyboard
5. Confirm the wipe (this will remove the encryption)
6. Reboot your recovery
Q: Is there a way to get rid of encryption which is simpler?
A: Not really, you could also wipe data with stock recovery but this is quite a big hassle so above method works better.
Q: And if I want to use this rom with encryption?
A: Normally we can use the stock kernel to encrypt our device, but since the Android 7.0 Nougat update samsung makes a check kernel sides to block deodexed roms from booting. This means that even the stock kernel is build by me to disable knox and tima. So encryption won't work there and you have to encrypt your device after you set up your phone. After that go to settings, security, encrypt device. It may need some additional steps to work...
Questions about CSC/Signal:
Q: Where has the CSC selection gone?
A: To include all csc files, the rom get way to big, so it got it's own thread now, take a look here: CSC installer
Q: I have a weak cellular signal, what can I do against it?
A: Two things: first, install your providers CSC using CSC installer and flash in TWRP or flashing stock CSC with Odin. Second Thing: You can install the modem from your provider, also find your modem on Sammobile and install it with Odin in CP tab.
Q: I don't have all sHealth features, how come?
A: Not all CSCs include this feature. I recommend to use AUT or DBT as it has the best compatibility!
Q: Can I flash MM CSC on N and vis a verse?
A: No, this is clearly not recommend! You can and will face call fc's!
Questions about Xposed:
Q: Does Xposed work yet on Android N 7.0?
A: No it does not! You will end up in a bootloop when you flash it on android N
Q: I selected xposed but now I don't see an app for it?
A: Maybe there went something wrong with installing the app to /data/app from my installer script. But xposed is actually installed only the app is missing, so head over to the download page of xposed app: Material Xposed Thread
Q: I selected xposed but the app shows not active or something else with xposed is not working.
A: This can have 2 reasons:
1. You have installed latest xposed version without installing magisk, magisk is required for most recent xposed version!
2. You used 86.2 xposed (which does not need magisk) but you did not install supersu. Since 86.2 does not use magisk to be systemless it uses supersu instead!
Questions about Magisk:
Q: How can I pass safetynet?
A: 1. Make sure to fully uninstall SuperSU by chainfire
2. Flash most recent 2.4.3 SuperStock Kernel
3. Flash Magisk V12
4. install latest Magisk Manager from playstore
5. Open Magiks Manager, go to settings
6. Enable MagiskHide, systemless hosts and systemless busybox
7. Reboot the phone and check safetynet!
Q: I got out of date binary issue?
A: Since Magisk V11.1 there is no need for phh root anymore. Everything is handled inside the MagiskManager apk!
Q: Where can I configure the root settings in Magisk?
A: Since Magisk V11.1 Magisk uses MagiskSU, you can find it in latest Magisk Manager V4.1
Questions about Snapchat:
Q: Even when I did not use xposed during my setup in rom I can't login to snapchat anymore!
A: Snapchat got updated and now detects even root access on your phone!
Q: What to do to login to snapchat then?
A: Clean install the rom without root and xposed and login to your snapchat, save the app with titanium backup, flash back xposed and root. For the next update of the rom just restore snapchat backup in TB.
Q: Any other possibility?
A: You could enable MagiskHide and check Snapchat inside it so root will be hidden from Snapchat. You will be able to perfectly login without any issues.
Q: I want to discuss this problem a bit deeper. Should I do so?
A: Do that, but this has nothing to do with this rom, so please go ahead and post your experience here on this Snapchat Thread.
Questions about Kernels:
Q: I want to switch kernel, how?
A: Since we have systemless xposed and systemless supersu, we have patches in ramdisk of boot.img. This means you have to reflash Magisk and supersu (or any other zip that changes some stuff in ramdisk partition) after every change of kernel!
Q: Synapse shows no UCI support!
A: Most comon issue is that no busybox is installed. Download the one from here: Latest busybox and flash it in recovery.
Q: I got random reboots, heeelp!
A: This is most likely from a custom kernel, if you face random reboots please check if you have the latest kernel installed or switch back to the stock kernel included in the rom.
Q: My screen is kind of yellow/orange and the touchscreen doesn't work at all!
A: You have chosen the wrong kernel in aroma selection. Reflash the rom without any wipe selecting the right kernel version.
Questions about Root:
Q: I lost root after installing this rom. What to do?
A: All mods (like supersu, phh's root, xposed and magisk) are stored in ramdisk of kernel boot.img. So if you flash this rom, and after this another kernel, simply reflash your preferred root method and it will work again!
Q: I selected phh root but my phone tells me I am not rooted!!
A: There are two possibilities:
1. You have mixed supersu/phh with magisk.
2. You did not install phhs root app from playstore.
Q: I get a warning about binary out of date. Help!
A: That happens on latest Magisk V11.1. Reason: Root has fully moved into Magisk Manager, no additional app required. Uninstall phh or supersu apps and only use magisk!
Q: I want to use su hide on my phone, how to do so?
A: Both below variants are outdated, I recommend to use Magisk with its build in MagiskHide. Check the thread: Magisk Thread
I think the guide on the OP is very clear, or to which step do you have a question?
So i download that bootloader file first and flash through odlin then rom through twrp ? And will it work fine with my network?
---------- Post added at 02:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:35 AM ----------
And the only problem i have is i dont have a sd card installed to move rom and stuff there ??
Q&A
Q. does wifi calling work
A. Yes it does
Q. does xposed work on this rom
A. i tested the v86.0 Alt build by wanam and YES it does. i include it in Mods_MM
Q. I am on your 2.1 version. Can i Update to the newest version
A. NO. the new base and updates are no longer based on the 910g port. they are Official N910T based MM now. you must odin Stock MM Firmware(or at least Official MM BB/BL) then follow instructions in Post 1 to install the newest Rom Version
Q. How do i get the StatusBar Clock Back
A. go to settings > potato clock and set it's position and other options you want
Q. How do i restore the Transparent StatusBar
A. go to settings > potato gradient - now change both color options to transparent - just drag the bottom slider for each all the way to the right
Q. How come viper4android keeps telling to me reinstall the driver
A. the stock rom or base rom comes with the stock kernel which is enforcing, you will need to flash a permissive kernel(i include beastmode r56.8 and r56.8 zerolemon kernels in Mods_MM, Both are Permissive). flash a different kernel(ie one of the ones i include or another), you have a few choices, emotion kernel, xceed kernel. they are for the n910f international model of the note 4 but work fine on our t-mo varient.
