It doesn't work on non Kindle devices, since it checks the build.prop.
From 4.5.2:

TouchPal X is pretty awesome
If you're wanting to include a keyboard in one of your roms,, I highly recommend TouchPal. The only issue I have with it is part of the keyboard is hidden under the navbar. If anyone could help me make it so that keyboards don't do thus that would be awesome. I'm on rooted 3.2.8 with safesttap (the one for 3.2.4 flashed just fine on 3.2.8.).

[REQ] Samsung Keyboard for MIUI (1.10.14)

Hi everyone,
I want to make a request to someone to port the Samsung Keyboard to MIUI ROM (1.10.14).
For me the samsung keyboard is the best keyboard, and I have already tried to push all the files needed (libs, apk, etc) to run samsung keyboard, but in the "inputMethod" the keyboard doesn't appear...
It's possible?
Thanks!

[Q] GT-S5363 custom ROM

Hello,
Firstly, I am new to this forum. I watched the "noob video" and try to follow the guidelines.
I own a Samsung Galaxy Y(oung) GT-S5363. The baseband version is S5363XXKK3.
My Carrier is O2 Germany.
Now I found that the original firmware's options are kinda limited. For instance it doesn't have different profiles and there is no setting for vibration feedback while typing.
Now I want to flash my phone with a custom ROM. The ROMs I found are for the GT-S5360, but after a short forum search I discovered that I can use 5360 ROMs.
However, the custom ROMs I found are a little bloated. I don't want the ROM to have as many functions as you can pack into it and change the whole look & feel of the phone.
I want the ROM to use as little RAM and CPU as possible. It is not important to have German as UI language setting, but the Swype keyboard should know German.
Now which ROMs could you recommend to me? If there is no ROM out there which meets my requirements, would you recommend me building my own one?
Thanks in advance,
Luca
check out the multilanguage roms in android dev. section.. u can find the rom u like over there
Cranium is very minimalistic. So I guess Cranium is the one you are looking for. Theres only a handful of Roms available though.
No custom rom atm has Swype as keyboard. Just download Swype beta, it has German language support.
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
hybrid is also known as a light one. if you want the swype. copy swype.apk in your current rom (in /system/app) to your sd card then copy it to /system/app folder in custom rom's zip folder.
btw, you can remove any bloatware from your rom manually by deleting the apk's via root explorer or any file explorer which could acces system's folder.
Is this possible with Linux as Desktop OS? I use Xubuntu and don't want to install Windows just for messing around with my smartphone^^
to modify the rom's *zip file you can do it in linux or whatever OS as long as you can open the zip file. to manually remove the bloatware from your current stock rom you should root your device and install root explorer.
So, I clicked through a few threads with the alternative firmwares. As far as I got it, both the Cranium and the Hybrid mod change the look & feel drastically. Is there a way to have more settings with the Samsung TouchWiz UI?
you may use another launcher...

More settings? Try Creed's. It has Auto Brightness, Xloud, Swipe to remove notifications in the newest version and what not. Im running on v2.0 though.

Hi, I recommend EmeralD ROM
It contains German Swype, and just some minimal modifications on the stock ROM.
There's all the stock apps in, but you can remove the unneeded apps from the zip (system/app folder) before applying.

Stock Defy Keyboard

Does anyone know if you can use the stock Defy keyboard in CM7. If so, can someone upload the apk?
as i know the stock keyboard for defy is swipe, if you want to use it just go to swipe page and register... They will send you the email with the apk address...
IMPORTANT: have to be downloaded from your phone.

He probably is telling about the multi touch keyboard
Sent from my MB525
The multitouch keyboard is embricked in the Motoblur framework. Unfortunately it's not available for CM7 or non-blur ROMs (yet?)
CM7 + CM9 double boot
May be its possible if someone installs titanium back for backup all the apps on defy.
And then extract the Keyboard apk and upload it!!
I am just guessing...
Are you looking for the multitouch keyboard?
If you want it, you can extract it from any based-stock rom, like MS2Ginger.
Hey,
could you post some clues how to extrack this multitouch keyboard from ie. MS2Gigner?
Is is simple or do i need to have some tools to sign apk's or so?
I'm preetty noob about messing with apks so if anyone have some tut it would be great for me!
Cheers!

national language (MultiLing like) app?

Hi,
There are not too many languages this phone supports by default.
There are apps like MultiLing that fix that, but it only supports HTC and SE hardware keyboards, so some of characters from my language become inaccessible.
Anyone knows any other app like MultiLing?
I used some other one but it's not compatible with ICS.
Also, it shouldn't be a big deal to add keyboarl layouts and languages on system level, Cyanogen mod has lots of them built in. Are there any docs available how to do that?
Thanks

Thanks, but it changes phone's locale, but I would just want to add another language to the list of languages.
I will try to look for something else...
if you only want to add keyboards, you can use anysoftkeybaord. its even has RTL support build in and keyboard mapping.
using this with keyboard manager - that helps you switch keyboards when the hardware keyboard is open - you are golden.
but the stock rom doesn't have many fonts supported so i encourage you to install a rom like osimood or incepation (if you are using GB)
or other roms for ICS (although i don't know what roms support more fonts, need to check inside the rom zip file it self.

Oh yeah! With anysoftkeybaord I've got all letters on my phisical keyboard.
It required to install some kind of a language plugin.
Thanks!

AOSP Keyboard Dictionary Files

Hi all. Here is the dictionary files for Android stock AOSP keyboard. Spell check and auto correction is working.
Why I'm using AOSP keyboard:
Because, AOSP keyboard uses less RAM than Google Keyboard with same functionality.
To install (for arco's 20140311 CM11 build) unzip the files and go to aosp keyboard settings and select "import dictionary file". That's it.

Awesome, I got this working on my I9000 running SlimBean rom. Tried to get the Dutch dictionary to work for ages... I used User Dictionary Manager to add words to my 'own dictionary' some time ago, but now I finally got Spell Checker, Auto Correction and Swype working for my language (Dutch) !!!!
Used Root Browser and did put the main_nl.dict file in data/data/com.android.inputmethod.latin/files/dicts/*name of language folder* rebooted phone and done!
Again thnx
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 with CM11. I put the main_nl.dict file on my sdcard in the folder /Downloads than I go to settings --> aosp keyboard settings --> click on import dictionaire and I click on yes for import the dutch dictionaire. Then I go to data/data/com.android.inputmethod.latin/files/dicts/nl and there is a file called main%00003anl. Is this the right way to get it working or I have to put the main_nl.dict file in the data/data/com.android.inputmethod.latin/files/dicts/nl folder like JustMyNick says? Big thanks.
