(Have it now... but no firmware file) Please upload Fire Phone OS 3.6.8 build.prop! - Amazon Fire Phone

We'll need it to download firmware for unlocked OS.
Can not revert back without this firmware.
Thanks!
Update: We have it now... but it doesn't look like the firmware is made available for download.
Thanks for uploading it, JasonDM01!

I would have, but I already flashed back to 3.5.0 to attempt root. I'm stuck with a non-functional device like the rest of you guys. lol
Here's to hoping someone else comes through.

I'm still on 3.6.8, this is my first android device and such so I have no idea where to get the build.prop file(?), if someone can tell me where or how to get it, I'll upload it.

ES File Explorer and go to system/build.prop

Not sure of what you know... so I'll give the complete instruction:
1) Go to "Setting"
2) Applications & Parental Controls
3) Prevent non-Amazon app installation
4) Turn ON "App Installation"
5) Using Silk, go to "www.estrongs.com/?lang=en" to download ES explorer
6) Install apk
7) Run ES Explorer
8) Go to /system folder to copy build.prop

This work?

I'am sorry. I can not find the file on their server :/ maybe we have to wait for an OverTheAir update to locate the file
maybe you can ask support how to update without Wifi etc. (therefore you need the firmware)
Thereby you can test Amazons MAYDAY service

I tried German 3.6.2 after the failure with 3.5.0. It boots up but does not register with amazon and phone gets hot.

Yeah, the Unlocked firmware is the "Juniper" build vs "Duke" for the other version.
I think there have been changes to the hardware between the builds.

I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THE WORK. I ONLY TRANSLATED THE SCRIPTS TO ENGLISH .
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK OR BREAK YOUR FUJITSU.
I have managed to find a bat file which will allow you to root your F-02E japanese phone.
I have also found a script to allow system R/W made by kikuhare
Steps Involved:
Make sure your phone has 100% charge.
Download the Root + System Mount
Extract the zip's to different folders.
Enable USB debugging under Menu > Settings > Developer Options.
Point to the folder where you extracted drivers from "usb_driver_F-02E_1.0.zip". Wait for drivers to install.
Make sure the phone is connected as PTP not MTP.
CMD into the folder "f-02e_oneclick_su_installer". It is inside the "Root + System Mount_1" files folder.
Run the runme.bat.
Download "Root Checker by joeykrim" from the Play Store.
Run the "Root Checker" app
Wait for the process to finish.
UPDATE System R/W
Connect phone to computer
Download the System Read Write Mounter_1.zip <<<<<< Only need to download if you did not download the "Root + System Mount_1.zip" file.
CMD into the "F-02E_system-mounter" It is inside the "Root + System Mount_1" files folder.
Extract the file and run the"START.bat"
Run everytime the system restarts to mount system as R/W.
Enjoy root .
NOTE: This method does not give full root permissions. You will still be able to underclock the CPU to some degree and use the CoreControl app to disable cores. I will have to run start.bat inside F-02E_system-mounter folder everytime the phone restarts to get system R/W
Drivers: usb_driver_F-02E_1.0.zip
Root Includes System Mount: Root + System Mount_1.zip
System R/W Mounter: System Read Write Mounter_1.zip

No, not enough developers and interest for the phone outside Japan. I doubt anyone will be willing to put in effort as well

Only Docomo and Fujistu apps are in Japanese. Everything else is in English.
Thats fine i suppose with root explorer i can delete those apps by deleting the apk in system app? Also if you have xposed app settings you can change the language per app would that also work?

I have just frozen them, just incase if the phone needs the at somepoint. Xposed framework doesnt work as it need system R/W and the root method has not allowed system R/W mainly because the phone bootloader not unlocked. Secondly make sure you do not uninstall/disable the Phonebook and Phonebook Service provided by Docomo. Its key to allowing you to add and sync contacts.
So Xposed wont work at all then, thats a shame what about lucky patcher, does that need R/W?
Sent from my Xperia T
Improved the .bat file. Now you will have system R/W
Download the root file again and run it. Follow the steps starting at 10 if you have already rooted. :good:
Thanks

I may not be able to help any further. I have boot looped my phone. I cannot get it past the NTT Docomo screen. I think I know what is causing it but I cannot get the phone connected to the PC. I may need to send it into Fujitsu.

I have not been able to overcome the issue. It is a design issue. Because it is waterproof phone the heat cannot disperse.
The only thing I have been able to do is keep the CPU frequency down to lower the time it takes for the phone to heat up.

4.6.4 Downgrade

I've got a little problem,
I was a little lax checking the version numbers before upgrading from 4.6.1 to 4.6.3, and accidentally upgraded to the AT&T 4.6.4
Is there anyway to downgrade?
I've attempted to "sideload" the older firmware in recovery but I'm not certain I have been doing it correctly. It presents me with;
PS C:\downloads> adb sideload update.bin
loading: 'update.bin'
* cannot read 'update.bin' *
I've tried redownloading the bin file from Amazon, but it comes with the same error (The bin is actually 4.6.1, as I thought I'd go ahead and tryout CM11)
Any suggestions would be much appriciated!

I just downloaded the 4.6.3 update and for some unknown reason windows 10 changed the file extension to zip. Right click the file and see if the file has the correct file extension bin. If not, change the file extension to bin. If you are unable to change the extension, you will need to go into Folder Options and uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
Nope, its definately a bin.

I've downloaded the file several times with Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome. I don't know why but Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer changes the file extension to zip each time I download the file. Chrome is the only browser that download the file with the correct extension.
Maybe ADB can't find the file. Try entering the complete path for update.bin. I see you have ADB installed on your C drive in a folder named downloads. Undate.bin should be in that folder. In ADB type adb sideload C:\downloads\update.bin.
You should be able to root, safestrap and simply flash an earlier version of 4.6.x from there u can use adb to remove all traces of safestrap and root, if u want a clean system. You do not have to be on exactly 4.6.1 for safestrap to work, from experience it works on all 4.6.x versions.
If the goal is to get cm11, or even get Safestrap the same guides that work for FireOS 4.6.1 will work for 4.6.3&4. No adb or Windows needed either; even replacing kingrood with supersu

Problem with "cannot read update.bin" in 4.6.4 to 4.6.3 downgrade

I have 4.6.4 AT&T OS and I want to downgrade to 4.6.3 unlock OS. In recovery mode the phone is connected with computer, I see serial number and "sideload" next, the update.bin file is in ADB folder, but at next step I get the message
"cannot read update.bin" . I run Win 10 on computer, I try also on Win 7, same problem. I downloaded
4.6.3 unlock OS first with Microsoft Edge, it has .zip extension, then downloaded with Chrome it came with .bin extension, neither one work. Any ideas ? Because I ran out.
That sounds confusing and frustrating. Where did you get the .bin from? I downloaded the one linked in this post and had no problems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62768812&postcount=2
You definitely want a .bin file, not a zip (the .bin should be around 1.2gb). There's also the distinct possibility that ADB is improperly installed. If that's the case, there should be more info in that link that will help you.
In my signature, I link to a walkthrough describing everything I did to get my phone downgraded, rooted, etc. Maybe take a look and see if you missed any steps.

I downloaded 4.6.3 OS from 3-4 diffrent links from forum including that in your post, also direct from amazon. With Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer the file is downloaded with .zip, no matter the link I used, so I thought that's the problem so I used Mozzila and Chrome, it came with .bin extension. The .bin file seems to be ok, I can open and extract folders and files from it with WinRAR so it's not corrupt.
About ADB, I read before how to deal with it, seems to work correctly, I can connect the phone in windows with phone on, also in recovery mode the phone appear sideload like it should. So at this point I don't no what to do.

Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer downloaded the 4.6.3 update as a zip file for me also. I've had the same error (cannot read update.bin) once when trying to sideload an update.bin. I never could figure out what the problem was, so I downgraded my phone using Safestrap. It is not recommended that you use Safestrap to update or downgrade your phone, but a few people including me have updated or downgraded their phone with Safestrap without any problems.
You will need to root your phone if you want to use Safestrap for the downgrade:
See Installing Root, Safestrap, CM11 for how to root and install Safestrap on your phone. You do not need to install CM11.
Launch Safestrap and select Install Recovery.
Download the 4.6.3 flashable-stock-image you will need for the downgrade and put the file on your phone.
Power your phone off, then power it back on.
When Safestrap starts, select RECOVERY> Install>
Browse to and select ss_update-fire-phone-35.4.6.3_user_463001620.zip.
Swipe to the right Swipe to Confirm Flash.
When the flash is complete, select Reboot System> CONTINUE>.
If you don’t want your phone rooted, launch Safestrap and uninstall Recovery, launch Kingroot and unroot your phone. I would also do a factory reset.
Edited to add: To unroot Kingroot 4.0, launch Kinguser, tap gear icon> Root authorization settings> Remove Root permission> Clear>. For Kingroot 4.5, launch Kingroot, tap gear icon> Root authorization settings> Remove Root permission> Continue> OK>. Manually uninstall any Kingroot apps that are still installed on your phone.

Thank you for your reply, I read about root/safestrap method but initially I did not want to root the phone.
Now seems to be the only choice, so thank you for info about this.
If you just type "adb devices" on the PC with the phone connected, do you see the phone? If not, then you have a driver issue. If that is the issue, the Amazon Dev. Service "Connecting your device" page may help.
Yes, at adb devices command the phone appear with serial number........ sideload. Appear connected whith phone on, I can copy on it and also in recovery mode after "apply update from ADB" . I belive that's not the problem.

I have had the exact same problem when trying to install the 4.6.3 update (cannot read update.bin), I had to use Safestrap to downgrade my phone. When you downloaded the update, was the extension a .bin or a .zip? When you say "it still doesn't work", do mean Safestrap doesn't work as well?

I've been trying to do this through stock recovery. The file extension was .bin retrieved from Amazon's website.
I'm not interested in using Safestrap.

Yep. Can't figure this out at all. Most adb commands are working fine. ADB kill-server. ADB start-server. ADB devices. ADB reboot recovery.
Its just the ADB sideload that gets the error. Cannot read update.bin.
I'm starting to think this is WIN 10 ****ing with me.

OK, should you find a solution to the "cannot read update.bin", please post how you was able to fix the problem, your fix may help others. From an internet search, I see the most common reason for the "cannot read . . ." error is the file has a double extension of .zip.zip, bin.bin, or bin.zip.

Maybe a stupid question- But did you change the name of the downloaded bin file to "update.bin"?
Years later, but maybe it'll help. For me, it was a combo of WIndows and Bitdefender: Under properties of the update file, it said access was blocked due to the file being from another PC - checking the box there and disabling Bitdefender (only one at a time didn't help) solves the issue.

Hi, I found out your computer may block files that appears to be malicious. See this thread for information on how to unblock it.
Got it to work
I was having the same problem. I kept getting the message" cannot read file"
I was able to get it to work by typing "adb sideload" and then dragging the file in the command window right behind "adb sideload". the string will look like this
"PS C:\Users\Ryan\Desktop> adb sideload C:\Users\Ryan\Desktop\update.bin.bin
and then press enter.

Thank You.
There is no folder /app_updates. There is just a folder named "files", but this folder is completely empty.
By the way: I got this file structure on my G4: \Android\data\org.lineageos.updater\files.
I had to manually download the package and install it manually in recovery, but the updater says still to update the current version.

If this is reduced to this single folder I can say that my G4 has no folder with this name.
The download completed and the updater asks for updating the unit.
The G4 restarts into recovery mode and nothing happens. Manual search for the downloaded files have not been successful.
I restarted my G4 and searched manually with root rights (just to be sure the files are not hidden in non root search) and I could not find any update file.
The lineage updater still shows to update the phone, even that there whether is a folder named "/data/org.lineageos.updater/app_updates"
nor a file in the "\data\org.lineageos.updater\files.
So... is this an issue with the updater, ROM or is this just not implemented complete?
I have no issues to manually install anything by console or TWRP or what ever else.
Once again: The update file(s) seem to be lost in transit. They are not stored on the system.
The updater still shows the install button even if there is nothing to install.

Are you sure you are looking in the right folder? Your stated path shows :
"\data\org.lineageos.updater"
Was that just a typo?
This where it is in my device:
"/data/data/org.lineageos.updater/app_updates" (note the nested "data" in "data")
Also, I think that if it shows "install" it means that it has been downloaded (and exist), otherwise it would show "download".

Shame on me... I searched with root rights and could not find the folder.... Seems I need new glasses.
But the folder is there and yes, the download is in there.
So single issue is, why the updater does not call the update automatically for flashing the update.

Hmmm... TWRP should be able to handle the script created by the updater. You may want to check on the G4 forum to see if others have the same issue.

the guys in the G4 forum are mostly connected to the unofficial version. a complete manual installation is required.
But there are some rumors in the German forum, who are using the official LineAgeOS version, where the updater script is not working.
I´ll wait for the next update in a week... may be it´s just a minor issue which will be fixed soon.
is it possible to change that path?
The path *HAS* been changed.
It's now downloading OTA updates to /data/lineageos_updates
Which a pain in the ass, because TWRP already doesn't automatically handle the script as expected on my Note3, and, I'd already gotten used to having to go to /data/data/org.lineageos.updates.

Happy to help!
Now, if I can just get the attention of whoever the device maintainer is, for the Note3, to figure out the TWRP scripting issue...

Question Fingerprint CN to WW NOT changed after root

Got my ROG phone 6 unlocked, rooted with latest magisk but however I can't get root explorer to mount R/W on root directory to get COUNTRY file changed from CN to WW permanently as i'm still in R/O can't write the COUNTRY file..
Although I could save the file but device info HW app shows my fingerprint is still CN..
I'm only able to manually update WW version once and 2nd update had received "system update failed" likely due to fingerprint isn't changed.
Had my root checker checked too, tried multiple root explorer versions & other file manager with root access but all unable to mount R/W
Some file manager also showed "file is read-only"
I also did a few research and tried a few ADB commands to mount R/W but unable to get it working neither..
It seems like there's no solution for this..
anybody having the same issue? any solution?
Try raw update.

Dont have any raw file to update.. would need to find or wait for someone else to release it..
However, I did a reflash of the current raw I have but my fingerprint still remained same as CN..

Wow thanks!
Did you managed to fully convert your fingerprint from CN to WW?
You can check this via device info HW app in "system" tab.
If yes, then i'd deeply appreciate if you could tell me how you managed to do it..
I know my COUNTRY file does still remained as WW even after i did a factory reset/reflash raw but I just can't seem to figure out why my fingerprint isn't changed..
I followed some YT tutorials I found and followed exactly what they did but of course using ROG phone 6 files and it din't turned out to be the same for the fingerprint...

I got my Tencent with WW already, so less problems with the converting.
1. Your PC see you phone when connected and powered on?
2. Are you using side usb?
3. This is WW raw, if your phone says CN version, so nothing to do with my link
Maybe this can help you? It's called different than WW, but maybe it's good for you, the website says it's CN raw files.
