cant seem to find a way to install twrp on 4.4.2 - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can somebody help me? i ve read a lot of threads but really not found out what to do...

I used this video and it worked.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tOtfF6gKkg

kitkat
that video is about jellybean...

I would downgrade to stock 4.2, root, install custom recovery, install 4.4 base package, then install CyanogenMod, then install red kernel or mani kernel that supports the 4.4 base. See the custom kernel threads for the links to the base firmware packages (to switch between 4.2 and 4.4 firmware bases).

You can take a look over here:

Newest version is now Twrp 2.8.0 I think.

[Q] Gt5660 latest firmware

Hello
I rooted my device and went to flash a rom and it rooted i got Odin and i cant find the latest firmware to download and flash on to it does any one have any links.
It depends on what you want, if you want latest stock firmware look on sammobile.com.
If you want an alternative firmware you could go for Cyanogen Mod 7.2, you'll find it here in the developers section along with other mods.
I have installed CM7.2 (SeriousMod). It works very nice for me.
As rom stock..the last one ufficial is 2.3.4..but if you want, you could try 2.3.5 also..or as custom rom you could flash Cyanogen 7.2 or GioPro 1.4..
I was able to install 2.3.6, it was an asian firmware but had english. Try looking for it.

[Q] Install Cyanogemod on GT-I8160L

Hello everyone.
I want to install cyanogenmod on my device, I am aware that there is not official rom for my device but there is an unofficial rom.
I did a research on the web and for what I understand there are some problem with my device because it is de latin-american version, I found a method too were I have to copy the "tee" folder from my device before installation and then paste it after the installation(that is supose to solve the 3g signal).
I am a complete begginer in custom roms, I have never installed one in my life. I have a lot of question: I need to have kitkat in my device to install the latest version of cyanogenmod? (my instincts says no but for what I have read I am not so sure) where can I go for a tutorial of installing roms? this rom (cyanogenmod) can work on my device?
The other alternative I have is slim bean, a jelly bean rom based on cyanogenmod(I even have found a tutorial in youtube that explain the installation and seems easy) but the link to download the rom is dead and there is a version specific for the latin american version.
by the way the latin american version is the one with a L at the end(gt-i8160L)
thanks
sorry if my english is bad.

As my device is a I8160, I'll answer the general questions.
The firmware that you need in your device would be a stock Jellybean firmware in order to install CM 10.1, 10.2 or 11 or any KitKat based ROMs.
As for the tutorial for flashing ROMs, this excellent guide by kyrillos13 might be able to help you (although it is meant for I8160..):

[Q] ROM\Kernel Questions

Hi Everyone,
I'm currently rocking Wicked ROM v5 with SaberN3Kernel_10.7 on Android 4.3 and I have a few questions that I searched around for but couldn't find clear answers.
When I'm ready to upgrade to KitKat or whatever version is out by then, can I just use OTA update from T-Mobile or do I need to flash the stock ROM myself using ODIN?
If I ever wanted to flash a new custom ROM or a stock ROM would I still have Saber Kernel or would it get overwritten by whatever the new ROM came with?
Thanks In Advanced,
Art

1. If you are running g a custom ROM you will need to download the official version from sammobile.com and then flash using odin. The OTA does not work if using a custom ROM.
2. When you upgrade to 4.4 you will loose root and your kernel. It's just as easy to root 4.4 as it was 4.3. If you have a custom kernel and you flash a new ROM most of the time you are given a choice if you want to flash their kernel or not. If it does flash their kernel you can always reflash the one you want. Just as a side note, if you upgrade to 4.4 make sure your kernel is built for 4.4.

Best method to upgrade to MM (+TWRP+Root) from Custom ROM (+TWRP+Root) on D855 32gb?

Current Phone Set Up
CloudyG3 v2.2 Lollipop stock based custom rom (Android 5.0, modem 20k)
Rooted (via LG One Click Root Method)
Custom Recovery - TWRP (v2.8.6.1)
I'm trying to work out the safest/easiest method to upgrade my phone to MM while also having/retaining TWRP and root.
Have read many threads and am frankly a bit confused...
Can someone please enlighten me?
Many thanks :good:
Anyone able to offer some assistance? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks
Download latest CM13 nightly and latest Gapps then just do factory reset in Twrp, flash CM13 then Gapps and you're good to go. Note: Root isn't enabled by default in Cyanogenmod, you have to go to developer settings and enable it there.
