Hey all,
Thank you for to great software. The HTC windows 8S was acting really weird. Explorder crashed almost instead, wasnt able to download apps. Received each time a "attention required" message when trying to install an app.
Factory reset, and hard reset via this method dint solve anything:
Performing a factory reset using phone buttons
If you can’t turn your phone on or access settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the phone's buttons.
Turn the power off.
Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button. Release the VOLUME DOWN button when you see an icon on the screen.
Then press the following hardware buttons in sequence: VOLUME UP > VOLUME DOWN > POWER > VOLUME DOWN.
Click to collapse
Then tried this software, which lacked any description. I had now idea what I flashing. Since the software was located at an android website without any readme or instruction is was one big guess for me. but it solved it. It now runs windows mobile 8.0. I disabled all updates, just to be sure it doesn't mess up again.
Done on a European version of the phone (dutch)
Many thanks!
P.S. I thought d i type an reply so other people have a bit more info when finding this post. But i received this message, therefor I cannot post it in the correct post.

Windows Mobile 6.5 Expired

Hello All,
I had got a copy of Win Mobile 6.5 from one of my Friend. He had downloaded the copy from this site.
Today suddenly the image in my mobile expired saying that my mobile was scheduled to expire on 05/01/2010.
Now I cant do anything on this mobile. I'm not even able to connect the device to Windows Mobile device center so that I can atleast upgrade it.
Can you guys suggest me something here.
Please help.
Thanks
Neeti
Try to flash from tri color screen.(volume down and power button)
Hard reset your device and then flash it with different rom (without time-bomb).
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I did a hard reset of my device by entering wrong key into my device more than 5 times.
But still its same. Have I missed something out here.
Thanks

A hard reset will not do it, you just end up re booting the same " time bombed " rom.
As suggested above, put your phone in bootloader ( tri color ) screen and flash another rom from there.
Hello All,
Thank you so much for your replies. I could finally solve the issue.
I had this HTC touch phone. I tried pressing volume down + power off button. But that didn't get my anwhere.
Then I tried pressing both soft keys and power button together and that did the trick. It got my phone to factory defaults. This time I didn't change the date to today's date to avoid it getting expired again .
Once mobile was on, i took the latest image and applied and it worked.
Thanks to all of you as your guidance helped me move in right direction.
Thanks
Neeti

recovery without power button

Hi, let me explain my problem:
I have a desire with power button broken.
last 6 months i use it normally wiht a rooted room (but s-on). When i want to turn on the device I pull off and on the battery twice.
Recently i installed an application and after a reboot the device keeps stuck in the initial splash animation.
So, i ONLY can access to HBoot (0.93 S-on). But i can't enter to recovery to erase userdata and format all and reboot a new room (as usual) because Hboot enter key is the ****ing power button XD.
I tryed to S-OFF in linux with alpharev 1.8 or revolutinary when showing splash but they start and suddenly stop because smthg was wrong.
So the only thing i can do is send basic HBoot commands.
any idea?
You might get more response posting in the correct forum.

You can download Quick Boot (Reboot) from market. Use it to Reboot, Recovery, Bootloader or Power Off.
Anyway, you're posting this in wrong section, should be in Q&A.

Mate, his device is not even reaching the bootanimation, I wonder what kind of market you suppose him to have to use it in splashscreen or bootloader?

Haha.. I got confuse with his statement " When i want to turn on the device I pull off and on the battery twice." So I thought he can boot the phone Wrong section wrong answer
Thanks anyway
Code:
[strike]fastboot oem gencheckpt[/strike]
Good development you've got going here.
Mate flash an original wwe stock rom with its own flash utility (just run the executable) but you will loose root after that use the alpharev utility once your phone has started.

I had this same problem a while ago. Tried many apps to work around power button (mine was stuck "pressed"). Got to the point where I couldn't do anything without getting into recovery. Used a spare phone until I ordered the flex cable assembly from Ebay.. $40 or so..
Despite many years of working with electronics, it was still quite nerve racking to swap the part out... you have to re-use your camera module and a couple plastic parts stuck to the original (on back of volume buttons i think).
Read instructions and watched videos online several times before starting, and again as I did the work, and size/fit was ever so slightly off... but everything works now and I am a relieved and happy camper
I see the development is active for 4 days now.

Have you tried to fully recharge your phone first?
Are you rooted? Are you able to get into recovery mode? Do you have a previous nandroid saved?
If you are not rooted, try rooting your phone, following the instructions posted here on the forum.
Hope your Desire works again.

LG LS970
Afternoon all, I am new here but have been searching this forum for hours on how to fix my sprint optimus G. I am having no luck. I took the back cover off and disconnected the battery, still nothing. Screen is black and when its plugged in to wall charger and I hold the power and volume up keys I can get it to blink the red notification light and soft menu keys. I keep reading everywhere that you have to boot it to recovery mode, download mode, or something of that matter but I cant get the phone to boot to any of them, I have tried. Any help on this would be great, I really like the phone and truly cant afford to get another one.
Thanks for any help
Softbricked and in download mode but LGNPST does not recognize the phone
My LGOG is softbricked and I can get it into download mode, and I installed LGNPST properly (I believe). I cannot seem to get LGNPST to recognize the port or whatever. It doesn't think the phone is connected!
Any help would be appreciated
Optimus G softbricked, flashing fails with partition table error
Well, it looks like questions posted here don't usually get replies, but I'll try anyway. I've given myself a 72 hour crash course in android flashing and debugging, but still am coming up empty.
I've got an Optimus G that seems to be softbricked. It boots as far as the LG logo after the animation, and then sits there forever getting hot.
I've attempted to flash it with LGNPST, following instructions in the teenybin thread over in the dev board. Everything appears to work properly right up to 85%, when it gives me the error:
Code:
Fail to write Partition PRIMARYGPT, 256th Sector
I've repeated the process with both full stock BINs (SV9 and SVB) as well as teenybins (SBL_Unlock and ZVBin), and I get the same result no matter what. I have also tried using LG Flash Tool, following instructions from the LG Flash Tool thread, and it fails with word-for-word the same error; it just fails much much faster than LGNPST.
From my searches of the forums, I've found 2 or 3 posts of people who've encountered the same problem over the years, but haven't found any posts of how they got around it. One solved his problem by going to teenybin... that didn't work for me.
--- Full Disclosure and Backstory ---
I got the phone used. It was booting fine, but still had previous owners info, settings, apps, etc. loaded, and I wanted to do a factory reset before activating it on my MVNO. The factory reset button in the settings menu was not responding, so I followed instructions from the Sprint website to accomplish this. I powered down the phone, and then pressed power + volume down, which gave me access to a "system recovery <3e>" menu, from which I performed the factory reset.
The reset appeared to complete successfully, but the phone has not been able to boot since. It will sit at the LG logo and act as a space heater until I shut it off or the battery goes dead, whichever comes first.
When the phone WAS booting, I did not think to look at or record what firmware etc. the previous owner had been running. I only poked at the menus enough to decide I wanted to start fresh.
--- What I CAN make the phone do ---
I can get it into download mode.
I can get it into the volume down + power "Android System Recovery <3e>" menu. From there, there is an "apply update from ADB" option that I have investigated. Selecting that option makes the phone prompt me to
Code:
Now send the package you want to apply to the device with "adb sideload <filename>"
After reviewing more info online, I thought that perhaps I could sideload a stock ROM using this option, but have hit some hefty brick walls investigating that option. Unfortunately when I have the phone in that mode, Windows Device Manager feeds me
Code:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
A request for the USB configuration descriptor failed.
Drilling down into the Details tab and checking the hardware ID shows only "USB\CONFIG_DESCRIPTOR_FAILURE" where a device ID should be, and I'm unable to get any driver to recognize it, either the official Google USB driver, the LG usb driver, or the naked driver found on these forums. Thus ADB doesn't see the device. I suspect, but have no proof, that USB debugging was disabled when I performed the factory reset, so this menu option may be broken until I can re-enable it. Again, I'm new to this stuff and only speculating; Google and the forum search has only suggested that I try a different USB cable and port, and I have tried several combinations (currently using an OEM HTC cable, new out of shrink-wrap, plugged into a USB 2.0 port).
--- What I CAN'T make the phone do ---
It won't go into the "fastboot" screen that forums say you can access by pressing Volume Up + Power. Pressing that combination flashes the LG logo briefly, and then the phone goes dark and stays dark.
Thanks for reading; here's hoping for replies.

Hello guys.
Great guide, but unfortunately it does not work for me. No matter what I try, which I try to flash first, the phone will simply not enter the flashing mode, it boots up like normal.
Also, same phone will refuse to detect any updates past 8.0 update 3, which is quite weird.
Can any of you help ?
HTC 8S Unbranding
Hi, I'm thinking to debrand the 8S I* have. Main reason would be to change the default language to Spanish since the phone doesn't let me through settings (stuck on English[UK]), the other is to be able to use Cortana in Spanish since as far as I know ( just google "cortana language support" I would insert link, but I'm too new to do so at the moment ), its available in Europe. I got the phone from Verizon in Canada, but I got another phone and I gifted this to my mother-in-law who is Mexican and lives in Mexico, I bought the sim-unlock from Verizon ( dam rip-off if you ask me..) and she is using the phone since May 2014. There are several Qs I got about the process:
1: Does this delete information or it leaves everything intact (settings, personal files or what-have-you)
2: How do I check what is the CID of my phone
3: I see the flash file contains the Spanish language (Europe), so if I debrand, then I assume I will be able to change the phone language to it, would that be permanent (as in being a 1 time choice or will I be able to switch around the Languages through settings)
4: What other benefits to be gained with this procedure
I already updated to 8.10.14219.341 version through Dev.
Thanx for all and any enlightenment on the subject!

I had exactly the same CID and I did exactly every step to unlock my Orange Locked phone, and didn't work. The flash would go and complete successfully and after the initial set-up the phone ended up having no signal. Sent the phone to service and they replaced it with a new unit (strange???). The second one came with simlock of course!
Tried again, same result, no signal... (NO SERVICE) warning even after entering SIM PIN (sim was there, and detected). Sent it back to service, came back with a paper saying "We couldn't identify the problem stated by you." and unlocked (strange x2) ... But at least it's unlocked now.
Try the debranding/unlocking method at your own risk!
i followed the procedure and something written appeared but immediately the screen went black
Now it is stuck and if i press the power button it just vibrates and nothing happens..
In addition when i connect it to the pc via usb cable, my computer recognises it like a usb pendrive (qhsusb_dload).. while connected i press the power key to turn it off and it does for just few seconds but then turns on again
please help , i contacted htc support and they were unable to help mr
