Excellent, thanks for the response and for the ROM!
---------- Post added at 05:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:16 AM ----------
i installed Xposed, it took a while to get some of my modules installed, and I'm not sure if this is due to Xposed but app downloads from the market are not completing.. they get to either 64% or 89% or something and just hang there. i thought i may have read about this somewhere before but i can't remember the fix..

Hey can you add a list to OP2 of what apps you removed to debloat the phone? I'm curious how much you were able to remove, and would love to see a "slim" version were as many apps as possible are removed.

[GUIDE][ROM FLASHING][WALK THRU] Easy to do! All Questions Welcome!

This will help anyone who keeps having flashing issues.
More detailed instructions in my GUIDE!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295557
THIS IS ONE QUICK/SIMPLE ERROR FREE ROM FLASHING PROCEDURE
This should eliminate a few posts saying, stuck in download mode, stuck at logo. just vibrates and them MANY other issues that somehow, everyone seems to find.
Here is my quick rom flashing process I use ALWAYS (yes always)
THINGS YOU NEED ON extSDCARD
1. Extra kernels (2 or 3 you know works for your device)
2. Optional: 2 recoveries that can be flashed (I use CWM & TWRP)
3. Optional: apps.zip (a zip created from Titantium BU, containing Root Explorer, TU Backup, Quickpic, ES File Explorer and Terminal Emulator)
Flashing the rom: TOUCHWIZ/AOSP ROMS
1. Backup current rom (to the extsdcard)
2. Complete wipe, (I do complete, some people do not) Complete = No Issues [FACTORY RESET + CLEAR CACHE + CLEAR DALVIK CACHE + CLEAR DATA]
3. Flash the rom
4. Flash the kernel (your device kernel) (I know some roms have their own kernel) this is where your problems start.
AGAIN: FLASH YOUR KERNEL, you KNOW it works. 1 more time FLASH YOUR KERNEL. (you can experiment with other kernels after you boot)
AOSP ROMS - require you to flash gapps before you boot. [This is not required for TouchWiz roms]
5. Boot the rom.
FINISHED!!!! SUCCESS!!!
Total time to flash a rom:
7-10min
Errors - NONE
This goes for every rom in my guide.
TIPS:
This flash procedure is for Touchwiz Roms, if you are flashing AOSP roms, you must flash the gapps package associated with the rom you are flashing.
**** SGH-I337M Users: Often requires flashing a different kernel than the one included in most ATT ROMS. Any GT-i9505 kernel will work and Adam kernel and Faux kernel are both confirmed working for us Canadian users.
Note: Flash KERNEL directly after ROM then reboot device.
[Special thanks to blyndfyre for this helpful tip].
The extra recovery I flash if a rom does not like the recovery I am using.
Yes, you can flash recoveries back and forth.
Apps.zip I flash after the rom is up & running. This I use to get the rom setup (like root explorer and others needed)
I am in no way responsible for anything that may do damage to any device - Use these tips at your own risk - period!
If you found this useful in any way, please hit the THANKS button for my effort.

Lol. That's so unnecessary. Fixing permissions after you flash a ROM does absolutely nothing. You only fix permissions with mods or apps that you're flashing.

That is what I use, no need to make chages to something I KNOW works, this is a simple flash procedure. No need to make it anymore complicated than it is not.

[ROM] 7/30 | Malicious MD1 | Trinity | SYSTEM=EXT2 | 9,600 quad?

DO NOT FLASH THIS ROM IF YOU CANNOT RUN MORFIC’S KERNEL! IT IS PACKAGED INTO THIS ROM!
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO CAN BOOT AND RUN MORFIC’S KERNEL, PLEASE SEE POST #2 OF THIS THREAD AND FOLLOW THOSE INSTRUCTIONS, THEN THE FOLLOWING LINK FOR RUNNING THIS KERNEL AS STABLE AS POSSIBLE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43525267&postcount=72
AOSP KERNELS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE, SO DON'T ASK.
***see post 2 for some other recommended things to do after you get all "set up"
We’ll keep this simple. This ROM will reformat and mount your entire system as ext2. Data and cache will remain ext4. Built entirely from a stock zip of MD1. Added some vital things I felt were necessary
Modifications done
# Ext2 system
# sql database optimization at boot
# zipaligned
# init.d support
# Carrier IQ disabled completely
# Terminal emulator included
# Apex launcher included
# Trickster MOD app included
# AOSP MMS
# Busybox support
# **TSM parts does not work... Don't use it
# Latest SuperSU and binaries – should fix some issues, thanks chain for keeping this project up
# 4 way reboot menu and 23 toggles mod by foreverloco is included. Love his work, so I had to include just a little bit of it. His thread is right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2056666
I highly recommend his AOSP theme as well. I didn’t include it simply because I know some people don’t like that look, but for those of you that do, give it a shot and please go visit his thread and thank him for his work if you download this ROM, buy him a drink or two. The man does hard good code work and deserves the recognition and appreciation.
Probably some other things as well, little stuff, not too important if I couldn’t remember it. This will be extremely stable and fast for those who can run it if you follow the set up method of trinity kernel (first link in this post). I have logged over 200 hours on this kernel up time with absolutely no issues, gaming, music, I do it all. So if you have issues with it, well, I’m sorry your device is a freak of nature! Haha
Also... Cannot forget to thank dwitherell for all his work, help influence AND SERVER SPACE. Haha, seriously bro thx. Same goes for many others - and of course morfic, who let's me package up his awesome work without question. Foreverloco, don't know you bro but seen you around many times while I was just a "lurker" on xda and before I created an account a little while back. So many others... Torvald's? Stallman?

I will never put a donate link up, just not me. I do this for fun not full time, that is why. All I will ever ask for is a click on that thanks button if I've helped you or you enjoy my work.
Reserved for meee.... or maybe not??? was i quick enough????? looooolllllll **EDIT*** SWEET I WIN!! looool
Ok, so just a few things here. Simple, but will save you some headaches.
INSTALLATION****
1. Pretty straight forward. You will need to wipe data in recovery, but other than that, just go ahead and flash it. No need to wipe system manually, the formatting to ext2 will take care of this.
2. After the ROM flashes successfully, wipe data one more time.
3. After you boot successfully, IMMEDIATELY open the superSU app, and go into settings and reinstall superSU. After you do this and superSU updates its binaries go into settings and make sure the "re-authentication" box is NOT checked. Also, check "trust system user". This will potentially save you headaches guys, can't stress this enough.
4. Open trickster mod app (included) and find your way to the VERY first link in this thread, and follow that guide for set up. This will also save you some potential headaches, and will further optimize your device. These are settings I personally run myself, and they are 100% appropriate and necessary for the file system/kernel combination and ROM.

The error you were getting was FAILED...
I'll look into this in a few minutes. Probably something very small
EDIT*** sorry I didn't expound on this a bit more. It is saying "error loading updater script.
Although there are no errors in the updater script as far as dwither and I can see. I am thinking it was a bad upload and I'm gonna pull the DL link now and try again with a verified md5sum. This could be later tonight so sorry for the inconvenience guys.

K the error was a syntax issue in the updater script.

Awesomeness..... d/l now.. will report later. Question as far as the theme goes, just don't want to flash the wrong one. Do we flash the "AOSP_THEME_MD1_Custom"? That is the one I would flash as the others are specific, want to make sure..
---------- Post added at 07:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:01 AM ----------
Update: Failed when doing step #2 Fix permissions in TWRP. In Bold RED Letter "FAILED" when fixing permission, hit Reboot and stays on Samsung Logo, tried again without the fix permissions, Stays on Samsung Logo..
Restored back up and wanted to try 1 more time.... When it gets to Formatting to ext2... either it is really quick or some thing happens here as it goes from this to installing system files now within 1 sec. Complete install less than 1 min, this time when I fix permissions it fails and when I reboot now states "No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot? ughhh o'h well cant say I didn't try back to my DD.

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.3.1 (JB), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:

* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Regular apps are installed apps from Google play or a 3rd party app store. System apps are apps that are installed in the system partition (come with the phone.) Restoring data from most system apps can cause problems (I have yet to find an answer is to why.) From installed apps, not so much.

Dastin, thanks for your hard work with this Rom/Phone. Also, I know your a busy guy with school and your girlfriend and other phones you develop with. I just wanted to say, you're a blessing to us Epic 4g Touch users. Thanks for pouring so much time and hard work into this phone. Much love to you. I'll make sure to donate to you when I get an income, as I am a Senior taking full time PSEO and never had a job before.
Long story short, I love what you're doing with this phone. I really enjoy your roms you have created! Much love to you bro!
Great job!:good:
My phone keeps trying to locate GPs though I turned gps location off. Any idea how to stop this?
Also, cool rom dastin!
Great ROM, I loaded this weekend and love it. Everything working great so far! Thanks!!!
I have to say thanks for this rom. I just loaded it this morning (along with the blasphemy kernel). So far it's running great. No reboots, lockups or any other issues. As a side note, I have been having trouble with the phantom menu and search presses on other roms including stock, all stock based roms, and every other AOSP based rom I've flashed. I've had to disable the soft keys and enable the navbar on all of them to fix this issue. I don't know what the difference is but this is the first rom I've flashed that actually worked without the phantom key presses. Thanks again. Looks like I've finally found a new daily driver.
Does anyone know if dock audio or speakerphone work with these builds? Prior jelly bean builds lacked functioning dock audio and the mics didn't pick up audio correctly in speakerphone mode such that callers report not being able to hear you loudly enough.
how do i find out if i have the kernel with the MMC-SUPERBRICK-BUG?
i am on stock 4.0.4
Thanks.
4.0.4 has the brick bug, to flash this you need to use a safe kernel

can you give me instructions on how to get the safe kernel? do i just flash a kernel on to my phone.
this is what i have:
android version: 4.0.4
kernel: 3.0.15-SPH-D710.FE22-CL612283

You have to use mobile Odin to flash the safe kernel, what I use is the el29 direct boot kernel from here : http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.p...ls/Recovery Kernels/GB/Noobnl Direct Boot/TAR

Does this just replace the kernel? All my apps and data should still be there?
Yes it replaces your current kernel, but you won't be able to boot back into the ROM once you flash this so make sure you have the files ready, another thing is that you need to back up your apps and data because you need to erase your data to flash the ROM, I would invest in titanium backup, if you can't afford it use helium.

i am confused. I will be in the current rom to flash the kernel using mobile odin. How is it that I wont be able to boot back into the ROM? Do i need to flash another ROM after flashing the kernel? what ROM did you flash after the kernel?
El29 direct boot kernel is a kernel for just flashing Roms.once you boot into it you have to flash a ROM.if you don't and choose to reboot system it will just reboot back into the el29 kernel.so you have to download the ROM you want and gapps if using a aosp ROM.now using an aosp ROM you need an ICS modem.

Don't unzip it. Just use Odin to flash it.
I don't think 7zip can handle tar files.

Dont take this the wrong way, but you are not ready to be flashing this rom. You really need to check out the other forums on how to correctly flash for this phone. Especially since you are on 4.0.4. One wrong move and you will have an expensive paperweight on your hands.
Go do your homework and ask these questions in Q&A thread. You will get lots of help there.

*WIP* Stock KK on LS970 and Discussion

This is getting it's own thread as there's just too much info to put into a post.
WARNING!!! YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!! THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS!
WARNING #2 YOU MAY LOSE YOUR EFS!!!
MAKE SURE TO THANK Brontok
MAKE SURE TO READ THIS WHOLE POST!!!!!
THERE IS A CHANCE THAT YOU MAY INCUR EXTRA CHARGES FROM SPRINT! I haven't had it happen yet in 2 months of playing with KK. But you never know
Now that that's out of the way, here we go!!!!
Some History:
This is the easiest way to PLAY with KK on your LS970. I'm posting this for the few of us left that want to see what KK would/will be like if we can get it fully working. I have spent COUNTLESS hours messing with every KK Rom out there to see if I could get it to work on the LS970 and the steps below are the easiest way. Our issue is the GSM to CDMA conversion.
I'm also posting this so that other people can try to help work on this. In this thread, I'm only interested in getting texts, data, wifi, and calls to work.
build.prop edits - BE CAREFUL with this!!!! You could lose your EFS if you change to the wrong phone/location/vendor!!!! To help to understand/recover your EFS, go HERE and use THIS
What works: - My Sprint account is showing everything is OK so far
Calls - calling and receiving seem to work just fine.
Wifi
3g data ONLY - This works on every other reboot. Meaning if you reboot your phone and lose data, then reboot and it will work again. It seems if it trips to SPRINT, you'll lose data. If it shows LG U+ it'll work
What doesn't work
4GLTE - If you have this in your area you will not have data. You will need to use wifi. "Mobile Networks" will be grayed out and not adjustable.

I've tried every way to make this a simple flashable ROM, but it ends up killing wifi. So here are the steps you need to take to get KK working on your LS970
Download LuckyROM_v1 ONLY! And make sure to Thank Brontok
Read the steps he has so you understand - and you MAY need to follow his steps!!
Use Philz recovery
Wipe /system, /data, /cache, and /dalvic
Flash ROM
Reboot
Done!!!
On boot-up, about mid screen, click it and set it to English. It'll bootup in Vietnamese if I remember right.
Don't mess with data, wifi or your Google account. Do those later. You can name your phone though.
Now you should have a semi-funtioning KK on your phone!!!!!!
Sorry to be so long winded, but I just want everyone to be able to play with a little KK!
Remember, this is a WORK IN PROGRESS. If you manage to fix any of the above mentioned issues, let me know.
Testing Files as of 7-6-14
Modified Mms - http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358558687 Removes sim notification but I'm not sure if it helps fix Mms. Thanks to jgkim
Modified Kernel for 4G? http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358558686 It's flashable. Test it and see if 4G works. Thanks to AdriVelazquez
reserved
Here are the boot and system.img's from the above ROM.
boot.img - http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358554472
system.img - bad upload re'uping now
I'm opening this up to discuss anybody's work that they may be doing on any KK ROM for the LS970. ie. what changes you've made to get ??? to work.
Here's a list of some of the changes I've done:
build.prop mods: alot. And depending on which ones you change Opens/removes options/settings. Just making one change in the build.prop can wipe EFS, show Sprint, make calls work, etc. It's frustating.
ro.product.model=
ro.product.name=
ro.product.device=
ro.product.locale.language=
ro.product.locale.region=
# ro.build.product is obsolete; use ro.product.device
ro.build.product=geehrc4g
# Do not try to parse ro.build.description or .fingerprint
ro.build.description=geehrc4g_lgu_kr-user 4.4.2 KOT49I.F180K30b F180K30b.1399632318 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=lge/geehrc4g_lgu_kr/geehrc:4.4.2/KOT49I.F180K30b
adding this line: telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=1
ro.build.target_operator=
ro.build.target_country=
ro.com.google.clientidbase.ms=
ro.com.google.clientidbase.am=
ro.com.google.clientidbase.yt=
ro.afwdata.LGfeatureset=
ro.telephony.default_network=
I'm pretty sure these are all the lines that need to be modified
framework-res.apk - eri and storage.xml's
/system/etc/apn's - I've tried Sprint and CM
/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml
/system/vendor/firmware/libpn544_fw.so

Yup. Just the rom. And you have to use philz recovery.
Install cwm first then philz.

Think I just figured out why I can't make a fully working flashable zip for this.
I've dd'd the system.img 3 times now and uploaded 3 times and all have the same md5sum. But it doesn't match the file on my computer.
I've ran into this issue with a couple other non-LS970 KK roms.

[Recovery][D2SPR] TWRP for Boost/Virgin Mobile Phones

Introduction:
This is a thread meant for the development of TeamWin's recovery for Boost, Virgin Mobile, and other D2SPR based phones. All builds are experimental, they may or may not work, or have features that are broken.
How to Install:
Using odin:
Download and install the drivers
Download Odin
Leave Auto reboot and F. Reset Time checked
Absolutely do not check repartition
Click AP/PDA
Navigate to the recovery.tar.md5
Click Start
Hold down the home and volume up button when it reboots
Rinse and repeat if TWRP does not install
If Odin freezes, wait long enough and it should continue
Using TWRP:
Boot to TWRP
Click Install
Navigate to the recovery image
Check Recovery under what to flash
Swipe to install
Reboot to recovery
Check to see if it updated
Using adb shell/terminal (requires root):
Code:
$ su
# dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18

If you have an issue, the first step is to post a recovery log so we can determine the cause of the issue. This is done in recovery using Advanced -> Copy Log to SD, or adb pull /tmp/recovery.log. Once a log is uploaded we can determine how best to proceed.
Please don't PM me for feature requests or for bug reports. there are sections for those in this thread.
FAQ'S:
Code:
Q: Will this void my warranty?
A: YES, now don't ask.
Q: Is this safe?
A: Relatively, there may be bugs or other issues that may break features, or it could kill your cat, kill your neighbors dog, and cause thermonuclear war.
Q: Can I use this on XXXX device?
A: Is it a Sprint or Sprint based Galaxy S 3? No? Then no, now go find the right forum for your device, eg try google.
Q: Will you add XXXX feature?
A: If you are willing make the code then maybe.
Q: Will you add support for XXXX device?
A: See two questions above. If there isn't one made for your device then here [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32965365"][DEV]How to compile TWRP touch recovery[/URL]
Q: My device isn't supported will you make a recovery for it?
A: See the previous questions.
Q: NOTHING WORKS, IT WON'T BOOT, FIX IT!!!
A: No, now leave, and come back when you calm down, are willing to describe everything you have done, and provide logs. If you feel like screaming and ranting try the Q&A thread, because your aren't helping anyone and pissing everyone off.

Important! READ ME!!NOTICES:
All Builds have experimental encryption support. This may be broken completely due to changes to make the recovery build under the cm-11.0 tree.
All builds Only support AOSP encryption. Use with touchwiz encryption is strongly discouraged.
As of May 17, 2015 f2fs file system support is added and is highly experimental, it is recommended to only format the cache and data partitions with f2fs and leave system as ext4. this feature was added upon request. make sure that if you do use f2fs that the roms kernel supports f2fs. this may also be broken because it was built on the cm-11.0 tree and may lack the necessary kernel features. with some devices cm-12.1 has added f2fs support in the respective kernels. Shows up on a similar device using the same configuration settings for this device.
F2FS was reported broken when trying to reformat the data partition. May have something to do with fstab. No current plans to look into fixing as a fix may break partition mounting completely. Build will still include f2fs should future code changes fix the issue.
There is a wiping/formatting "bug" that seems to affect mainly the data partition.
it looks a bit like
Code:
mount -O /data/media/
This is nothing more then a graphic warning. Your internal sdcard will still be wiped. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60962836&postcount=35
As of June 2, 2015, SuperSU will not be included in the twrp build. There are many reasons for this the biggest 3 are its usually severely out of date, it takes up build time to include, it takes up the already limited space in the recovery partition. To install SuperSU download the zip like normal from http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
MTP may or may not be enabled. i dont remember if i disabled it on build. ive made one more build but apparently the official twrp version is working. if you like the material layout you can use the official version with this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=13238 and if you need help installing it read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/theme-twrp-materialised-dark-light-play-t2915584/post56224204#post56224204

Build TWRP Yourself:https://github.com/Lrs121/android_resources/wiki/Build-TWRP-for-D2SPR_Boost-or-D2SPR_Virgin
This works flawlessly thus far. Have had no issues. Flashed a ROM, made a backup, and restored the backup. Great work, this has been missing from the virgin/boost s3.
Thank you.
Awesome! Can't wait to download and test it. Thanks for creating the thread and offering the links.

To go back to KitKat from lollipop you must wipe internal storage or you will get that problem. Its not a problem with this recovery. Try again, this time wipe internal storage first.

I'd love to take a look but i need logs since i dont own these devices and cant replicate the issues myself. i dont remember how to get the logs. i think it can be found under /cache/recovery/log.last or something like that.

Its more than wipe data, you should be able to specifically wipe internal. Wipe/advanced/internal. I haven't tried that yet on this recovery since I have no desire for KitKat anymore, so you might have found an issue. But this version of Twrp is more for lollipop so you may have to use an older version for KitKat. Just a guess though.

Believe me I hope we can get all the bugs sorted out to have latest lollipop on s3 but until then hard to beat wicked s5 for dependability. Got to be able to go back and forth. Have had no problems with philz recovery, just thought I would give twrp a try
