Yatse works great for controlling my FireTV via my Android Phone (Galaxy Note 3) as long as I'm in XBMC.
However, I'd like to use my phone as a remote for the Fire TV main menu, inside Netflix, etc.
Anyone know of a good way to accomplish this?
I'm trying to do the same with Tablet Remote, but it appears to rely on registering itself as a system input device on the FTV, once we're able to adjust the input device it should work.

It would be a shame if we had to have root + access to input devices to do something as simple as remote control via phone/tablet, but I guess I'll take it any way I can get it at this point!
I'm looking for an answer on this question. Wondered if there is a fix for this yet, or someone was able to figure this out?

You need to be rooted to install google play. Once rooted, use the directions on this link and you should be good to go. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2790207
Limitless remote, may be not as good as droid mote but its free.
Hey guys, I am looking for the wwe network apk directly from the fire tv, I have a tronsmart s89-h android box, and cannot get the standard wwe network app to work, I am hoping that this will solve all my issues but i cannot find a way to get the apk anywhere. I would appreciate your help! thanks!

That would be amazing! and Yes i Believe the issue has come down to the device not having any kind of gps, Im assuming the fire tv does not have that check, plus it is much more suited for a tv, (landscape mode!)

So i was able to purchase/own the wwe network app from the online amazon store despite me not technically having a device it would run on, this box can also install the amazon app store no problem, though it obviously only sees the android wwe network app and not this one.. GOOD NEWS is that the app is working on my account! its def a bit wonky but i am hoping it is some stuff i can fix with some DPI xposed changes or something of the like, thanks so much very appreciated, and def works!!

Well, After some playing around, it isnt exactly usable. First off on the menu there is a about an inch or 2 white space on the bottom and right side of screen, i believe this can be fixed with some kind of dpi mod, but not totally sure. secondly, only the home screen loads images, ie, whats playing now, whats coming up, if u go to pay per views, it is just empty boxes with borders, none of the images load until you get to the actual video description, but you really have no idea what you are clicking. Lastly when playing a video (which does indeed work) with my tronsmart tsm-01 air mote i could not do anything but go back, i could not pause i could not get the menu up. i could not fast forward etc. only could go back. So while it is useable to watch summerslam, with no dvr feature thats really about it. maybe the dpi issue will fix everything who knows, I only played around with it for about 15 minutes as i headed to work, but its hardly worth it right now.
As far as getting the amazon app store. probably used more effort typing in this forum than to just simply google 'android app store' : http://bit.ly/uC6tic

i removed the amazon store check, tested the wwe app on my s5. all crunched up but i as able to navigate and play live streams

Hey everyone,
I just set this up today and it worked great. I am a Steelers fan, but I live in Bengals country. That means I don't get to see many Steelers games, because they aren't broadcasts locally on TV.
So I used a GPS spoofing app:

And the NFL Mobile app:

Enable "Mock Locations" in Developer Options.
Open Fake GPS app and enable a location where you know your game is broadcasting.
Open NFL mobile app and voila!! You now have access to the local games being broadcast on FOX and CBS for wherever you set your fake GPS location to.
You also need to enable "Screen Cast" in the Chromecast app, so you can mirror your phone screen to the TV. Set your screen timeout as high as you can.
I'm sure someone has already done this, but this was my first time, and it worked like a charm.
You may have to kill the NFL app to get it to switch locations as you change your fake GPS location. I always set my location first, then make sure my NFL mobile app is completely killed. Then just restart the NFL app. The new games should populate in the watch now section.
Hope this comes in handy to someone!

The GPS spoofing should still work, but you can no longer screencast NFL mobile. It's blocked on the TV as of last night.
We need an app or something that will cloak the screen mirroring...

The NFL mobile app developers must have read your post because now Chromecast mirroring does not work and neither does allowing mock locations using an gps spoofer. :crying:
They have a DRM protection in there. It checks to see if your phone is running mock locations and/or has developer options turned on. It also does not work with SideSync. It seems to be recognizing the dual streaming over a wifi connection.

No recent update since the Oct date that has been mentioned. Fake GPS app that the first poster noted did not work with nfl mobile. Samsung Galaxy S4 being used. Perhaps you have a different device.

I just tried gps spoofing and it's still working. But NFL app seems to have blocked this now. Someone needs to "fix" the NFL app Lol.

Chromecast part not working anymore just an fyi they blocked it
Got a work around!
I just got an Amazon Fire Stick and messing around with it. I installed koush's beta mirror apk on my note 3 and all cast on the stick. Connect it and then open up nfl mobile apk. The t would of course start saying it can't be mirrored etc. That's when you open up Multiwindow with something like chrome in the other window. Click back and fourth between the two and viola should be able to stream. It might take a couple tries and I had a couple of times where sound wouldn't catch up just shut beta mirror and reopen and try again. I cancelled cable due to never watching it but needed my fix. Of course it's a little laggy and not perfect but it's a work around that's watchable! I don't have a chromecast but seeing as this was two apks I downloaded and installed off the store it shouldn't matter. Hope this helps someone I k of its the end of the season but you should still be able to get probowl/superbowl/nfl now/nfl network etc to work and probably other programs that block mirroring I haven't tried but hey can't hurt. Who'd thunk touch wiz would actually be a benefit for a change!

The built in remote app actually works really well,give it a try!
The G4 comes with an IR app called quick remote. Working pretty good for me, and as far as I know, more comprehensive and easy to use than anything on the Play Store.
If you don't have it, get it from the settings, about phone, update center app updates
Smart remote works nicely and has a big big library of remotes. Not the cheapest (or at least it used to be quite pricey) but I bit the bullet and its the best one I have tried.

This Smart Remote? That's the app I've always used in the past, but it wouldn't work with my Samsung TV when I tested it out yesterday.

I agree. I have been using that app for a while and never had trouble. Using it now on my G4 with remotes backed up from an S6.

Hmm, maybe it's my TV. This is the first time using it with that specific model, but the LG app worked. I'll have to give it another look. Thanks!

The build in apps works for every single device in my home
Yes the stock app is good but it cannot be easily connected to tasker for some automation task like "AnyMote" which has a plugin for tasker
The best remote app I have found is RCoid. It's got a lot of remotes available to download but not as much as some other remotes. I like the interface which allows easily swiping up to switch devices.

PIA recently released a new apk which looks like it work with Amazon Fire TV but I am not able to scroll down to US server.
Any suggestion how I can scroll down or set a permanent US server?
The great thing is I can set which app I want to access VPN.

You probably just need a USB mouse or Mouse app to use it.

Let us know how the new PIA app works on FTV's. And which FTV it is (1st or 2nd Gen or FTVS) ? I am also guessing it's a new Android PIA app right ?

It works...
I keep connecting and disconnecting until it connected to the States. It always chose the faster ping.
I'm from Canada and was able to long into Pandora.
The app updated on my phone then I extracted the file and side load in Fire TV2 not rooted with latest firmware.

I already tried that on my aftv 1 , before trying openvpn,
it reports that its working through the app, but if you check
your ip on the firetv you'll find that in actual fact it
doesnt change at all

I am guessing your FTV Gen 1 is still on FireOS 3 ? Seems FireOS 5 is better with VPN's then FireOS 3. Or are you running unRooted on latest FW ?

You can check if the IP is being hidden correctly by opening ES File Explorer & adding a link to Favorites:

I just tried it (Not the PIA app but just doing a DNSLeakTest) on my FTV1 on FireOS 3. It showed my current IP & I was even able to do an Extended test. Let us know if you can confirm the changed on IP @ different times & if the app ever times out with time of inactivity.
I only did per app... And test with Pandora and it recognized US address. For Canadian it app will not load.
I will test more later.

I only tested that DNSLeakTest could be loaded on ES File Explorer. I am still waiting for a PreRooted ROM to upgrade to FireOS 5. Thought about Un-Rooting & upgrading & then re-Rooting but all my FTV1's have fully unlocked bootloaders & I did not want to loose that. So I haven't even tried the PIA app since I know FireOS 3 is much worst with VPN's. Hopefully @vic_singh would be able to test things later or maybe someone else.

True, So it is working. How long do u usually listen non stop to Pandora on it. Was wondering if it times out after certain time.
What we actually need is for someone to test it on a FTV1 on FW 5 Rooted & UnRooted.

I setup Dropbox account on ES file manager then download the apk online and place it into Dropbox folder.
Install ES file manager on Fire tv then go to cloud... And log into Dropbox.
Install pia.apk from there.

Thanks for your response. I did as you advised . but in ES file manager when i open dropbox account and go on PIA apk i can can not install as probably it needs mouse ( when i go on apk and click ok - nothing happens) as i can see download etc heading on top when i am on PIA apk
