The thinnest case without a large port opening found! - Xperia Z3 Compact Accessories

So everyone had been wanting a thin, stylish case but they all seem to have a large cut out for the micro usb flap or even another for the sim/sd card flap.
Sometimes you have to look backwards to go forwards.
I had this case on my z1 compact.
*The thinnest-1mm thick, transparent/frosted - Black or clear, can still see logo through it
*The rear has a slightly roughened texture which dramatically increases grip.
*No need to remove for magnetic charging
*And finally the opening for the micro usb is just half the size of every other cover for the z3 compact because flap on the z1 compact was half the size.
The only one issue is that the hole for the flash is in the wrong place - easily solved by drilling a hole in the correct spot.
And yes, even though it's made fit the z1 compact, it fits the z3 compact perfectly. http://www.krusellcases.com/uk/p_krusell_product.aspx?i=257882

I got myself one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NX8CGW6?vs=1
I didn't need the USB port flap cutout, because I charge using the magnetic connector and I transfer my files over wifi. My wife loves the look (I got her a Z3 Compact too)

that price is absurd for what you're getting...

Ive had one of these frosted cases from Krussel for GS4, and it was darn tight, its slippery too. By the way, the back is a hard plastic translucent shell. It was so tight that took me a minute to take it off, one time the sides cracked when i tried removing it. Now it is kinda loose. Not recommended.
But I guess not so much problem for Z3C, as you wont need to remove it to gain access to sim card or battery, or sdcard.

What's the best way to protect the microUSB opening?

Hi,
Looking for the best protection for the microUSB opening on the phone (and the earphones port would be nice to protect as well.)
Basically, I have the phone in my pocket all day. I'm not worried about scratches, but lint and dust can add up in those holes (they sure did in my iphone, eventually dust got under the screen, though not much)
Any tips on what to buy?
Thanks!!

You should have done a search for cases first, there are plenty of threads on these types of cases.
There is always something like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Micro-USB-3-5mm-Port-Dust-Cap-Cover-For-Samsung-Galaxy-SII-S2-White-/270803651829?pt=UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item3f0d27ccf5
You could buy original Samsung case which protects the ports,

A piece of tape?
Kind of hard to say what's best without knowing your preferences. If there are no generic micro usb plastic plugs available somewhere, it could be a decent niche product business opportunity.

I have looked at the cases threads but was thinking more of a nifty plug of some kind.
Like right now, for the headphones jack, I cut the rubber plug that was on my old sony walkman sports (yes, the yellow one!)
The dust cap cover seems to be what I'm looking for! Will order one.
both my Captivate and Skyrocket had the covers built in that you slid out of the way for the microusb... I do miss that!!
I liked the sliding cover on my SGS1 and the lens cover on my N95 but they just don't make phones like they used to, and it's all because of the never ending quest to save money and weight.
sadly, this is 100% true. But the sliding cover couldn't have cost THAT much extra! Heck, they already did it on older phones so no design or new molds are needed, lol
I am VERY tempted to buy these... http://www.ebay.com/itm/10PCS-Earph...443861?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f194d6b95
(and this one for the wife who is obsessed with Hello Kitty, lol)

Make a rubber plug for the usb port .
jje
is does provide protection from corrosion ?
I can deal with all the crap gunking up the USB slot but the camera lens sticking out is inexcusable because it is gonna get scratched to Hell and you gonna get foggy images, and all they had to do was make the phone half a millimetre thicker so the lens would be level with the back, but cos they were more interested in thinness than practicality you have to put a case on.

Tripod for video recording!

I'm looking for a Tripod to record video's with my S2 without holding the phone.
The video's will be for reviews to upload to YouTube, obviously using your hands to to hold the phone and record will look unprofessional.
So has anyone used a tripod or know of a cheap enough tripod that works and is suitable for a galaxy s2.
I've already looked on eBay and Amazon, there are some there, but not convinced on them.
Thanks in advance.

Tripod with Bracket
Hi,
I owned already a mini-tripod for a camara (Amazon has several on sale, mine is a Cullman). So I tinkered a bracket to hold my phone (actually a Lenovo China phone:
- you need some tools to work metal (bench vise; saw or angle grinder; hammer; file; sandpaper; drill)
- a strip of alumin(i)um, about 1 mm thick;
- a piece of thin leather (suede is the best, never throw away worn leather clothes) or soft fabric like velvet;
- all purpose glue, like Pattex
Cut the strip of metal to the needed length and width.
Form with bench vise, hammer and a round piece of metal which is about as thick as your phone (a drill bit f.e.) hooks at the end of this strip. The phone must fit loose into this bracket.
Smoothen the surface with file and sandpaper.
Drill a hole a little smaller than the screw an your tripod into the lower hook. If you have a fitting threader, use it. If not, force the screw into the hole and let the screw cut a thread.
Glue leather or fabric on the bracket, on the inside of course, but also on the outside if you like.
Adjust the hooks with the help of strong pliers, if necessary.
Enjoy.

sonivo premium wallet stand case review

hello everyone. i saw the video review of this same case a while back and i found it just a little lacking, so i figured id fill in some details with my own photo review.
First of all, delivery came out of england instead of the usual china or hong kong or whatever, so it was comparatively short (and in royal packaging none the less :victory: )
opening the plastic packaging unveils a fairly nice, faux leather wallet case. it doesn't feel overly cheap to the touch, but you can definitely tell that it isn't real leather.
on the outside, it has Sonivo printed in the lower right hand side and closes with a magnetic flap that does not sit flush with the case. it sticks up from the surface a bit and from what i found, tended to get caught up in my pocket.
the back is plain, with just a cutout for the camera and flash. i have not noticed any distortion in my photos with this case, which was one of the complaints for a few of the other wallet cases out there.
on the inside of the cover, there are two extremely thin credit card holders. i could barely fit one card in each at the same time and they were very hard to pull out, but i suspect that they will break in after a while. there are also two sim card slots on the very front which i can not see a use for unless you are travelling with the phone. behind everything and facing the spine of the case is a pouch for cash. it is an odd shape because of the phone and is still very thin, so i had a hard time fitting any US dollar bills inside of it. because of the weird shape, you have to fold the bills width-wise and either way you slide them in makes them stick out the side. i could also fit only two bills inside the case with my cards before i had trouble closing the case properly. this isn't a deal breaker for me because i usually use my debit card anyway, and nfc payments are getting more popular as well.
on the other side is what i think is a tpu snap cover which is only attached on one side, which allows the whole things to bend into a rudimentary stand. the case fits snugly and allows access to all of the buttons, speakers and the sim tray. no problems here.
nfc and qi charging also work with this case, but i will get to that later. it also has a hall effect sensor, which allows it to turn the screen of the phone on and off. very cool and very useful.
now my main complaints about this case are as follows.
-when the case is folded into its "stand mode," the phone sits at an odd angle, which may make it uncomfortable to see. i wont be using this much anyway, but you might.
-the magnet on the flap is VERY weak. it holds the case closed well, but when it is folded backwards for when you take a call or something, it will not hold itself closed. this does get a little annoying for me, but oh well.
-The flap does not sit flush with the case when it is closed, so it may get hung up on things. this i can understand though, because making it sit flush would make the case much thicker than it already is, which isnt bad for a wallet.
-the small capacity
-the site advertises a white, version, but when i ordered that, they delivered a black one. i dont know if both cases are the same or what, but it doesnt make a difference to me. the black case gives a nice contrast to the white phone.
-finally, qi charging may be problematic for you. this case creates a pretty large space between the qi charger and the phone, which may slow down charging. it may also block the magnets in some of the charging pads that hold the phone in place. most importantly is the odor though. as many of you know, qi charging warms the phone slightly, and with it the case. because of the synthetic leather and the tpu case and whatever the hell they put in it, heating creates a terrible, sweet, plasticy, resinous scent that lingers around the case. if you are using it indoors shortly after charging, you will be able to smell it at texting distance.
overall, even with my many complaints, this is still a very nice case and fits my needs quite well. i do wish it was a little bigger, and that scent can get pretty annoying, but this is probably one of the best wallet cases currently out for the nexus 5. it has a premium feel and is not very expensive.

Incipio Dual Pro Case Available NOW for Z3C

Two sources at Incipio confirmed that they will have a Dual Pro case
AVAILABLE NOW for order:
http://www.incipio.com/cases/smartp...phone-cases/sony-xperia-z3-compact-cases.html
Looks like they covered all Ports except USB.
Might have been better to leave only Mag Port open.
But protection especially if lip above glass is up 1/32" above screen- can you tell ?
Similar to the one they now have for Z1C.
http://www.incipio.com/cases/smartp...ases/dualpro-case-sony-xperia-z1-compact.html
This is the best protection I have seen so far .....
Any experiences with Dual Pro for Z1 , Iphone 5, etc ?

Thanks for posting this - looks like a sweet case I would personally be glad if they left the magnetic charge port open, as well as the power, volume and camera keys. AFAIC the waterproof flaps can be completely covered :good:
Perhaps if we all put forward our ideas here, @robertkoa could point his contact(s) at Incipio towards this thread for some free input on the design... :good:
That's pretty sweet. Although I'm trying to find a hard shell case that also has access to the magnetic ports. I wonder if that's just not structurally possible?
Ya I would imagine you would be comprising the impact dispersion by cutting out pieces of material. Of course its possible to cut as much material as you want, but functionally it won't be the same.

This company seems to be working on a Z3C hard case that will work with the DK48 magnetic charger
case-mate [dot] com/Sony-Xperia-Z3-Compact-Cases/Case-Mate-Sony-Xperia-Z3-Compact-Tough-Cases.asp
Sorry, can't post URLs because I created a new account (replace [dot] with .)
The Case Mate tough case goes to the other extreme to the Incipio design and leaves way too much open IMO. Almost the entire left side of the phone is unprotected, which doesn't fill me with confidence. If the Incipio version is anything like the Z1 model then it will go to the other extreme and leave just the USB/SD door uncovered.
I guess that's the big conundrum for case manufacturers designing for this phone -- leave everything uncovered and compromise protection, or have better protection but no dock compatibility. Very few seem to be taking the middle ground and just leaving the mag port open, which I suppose is understandable since I doubt many people will bother getting a mag charging cable or dock.

Actually I think many people (like me) go for the magnetig charging cable/dock for two main reasons: one, this way you don't risk to destroy the usb flap's water sealling in time and 2, you protect the device by reducing the risk to knock it on the floor if you trip on the charger I never charged it with a USB cable and it hits 100% way faster than my old HTC One M7. I got this smoke tpu case with a nice textured back to improve the grip www.jekod.com/en/cp_view.php?id=87 but I do look forward to the Incipio release. Actually, I would love to get a case with only the magnetic charging port open for better protection if I eventually use it in water.
Incipio Dual Case for Z3 C
I honestly don't have a high on the food chain Source at
Incipio to have any Input on the Design etc.
But they will have a Dual Pro out for Z3 C probably next week.
Confirmed through two people there about 3 weeks apart .
All we can do is see what they have done with Z1 Compact and
guess.
They said Dual Pro so high level of protection though not Mil Spec
like the Alpha Pelican Case ( Pelican is bulky though ) .
Impact Dispersion is an excellent Term to describe
what often happens with Tempered Glass Screen
Protectors.
I have talked to at least 10 people at AT&T , TMobile , Expansys etc. etc. and i t's surprising
that they have seen or experienced cracked glass Protectors and Shattered Glass Protectors with no screen damage underneath.
So Tempered Glass front AND back for Z3C AND a
Case is best, IMO.
And with no case Glass Protectors front and back , though I don't know who makes a Dual Kit , maybe try precutting Camera and Flash holes
for back using a " Front " ?

I'll also be using magnetic charging, but like everyone at XDA I'm probably a bit more techy than the average buyer  I love the description for the Jerod case... " not only protect your mobile phone, but also improve your taste in your friends". Have you found your taste in friends has improved since owning it?!
FYI, the Cruzerlite case only has the magnetic port cut out on that side of the phone but it also has that silly "bugdroid" design on the back, which probably won't improve one's taste in friends!
LoL Didn't notice the description. I searched the product's page just to show you guys, after getting it localy for about 3euros. Good to know that about the cruzelite case because the pictures I have seen only show the bugdroid back. And yes it is silly

Clear Gel case with added Pop Socket

As you may know, the Pop-socket knobs don't stick to the Mi Max 2 very well. I've found a solution to this. I took a clear Gel case, heated a metal washer the same size as the camera opening, and melted a hole UNDER the camera hole, pulled the pop socket apart, put the pop socket base on the INSIDE of the case and reattached the knob on the OUTSIDE, and put the completed case back on the phone. It works GREAT and makes the behemoth (with LOVE) Phone perfect for one-handed operation! Found the gel case on eBay for $10 and some change. I'll try to include a link. AFTERTHOUGHT: Place the hole lower than I did so you don't have to trim off part of the Pop-socket base.
