[Q] Update: Fire OS 3.6.6 (126014920) - Amazon Fire Phone

I have just found an update for the Fire Phone in the UK, Fire OS 3.6.6 (126014920).
Noticed it on the Amazon website while looking at the support page: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201531560
I checked my phone to see if an update was available, but there wasn't, so I updated manually.
Unfortunately, it seems Amazon have forgotten about the "myAT&T" app as that has now installed on my UK O2 phone :\ with of course no way of removing it without root...
Has anyone else had this problem?

Both the German and UK software were updated to 3.6.6. They also looks like to be identical. Based on the findings here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57145876&postcount=8, thanks @B1ackByte, this may works for unlocked US fire phones.
I can't wait to try will report to you guys later.

So I am wondering whether the downgrade to 3.5 + root still works once you have updated to 3.6.6. I am still sitting on a 3.6.2 version where it should be possible. However, I may probably hold on jumping to 3.6.6 in case I may still want to get root?
Seems that Amazon is fragmenting their software as the lately sold (200$, unlocked) US phone cam with 3.6.8 while the German/UK version (still all locked) comes with a 3.6.6 version now... :-S I suppose 3.6.8 may brick the locked German/UK phone while 3.6.6 may brick the unlocked US phone (in terms of full functionality).

The original 3.68 firmware that came with the unlocked version was never made publicly available. The only non carrier firmware that you can find is the 4.6.1 version.
Even if you get your hands on the original version somehow, after upgrading to 4..6.1, there is no way to downgrade to the lower version.

4.6.4 Firmware w/ Google Play Compatibility?

Hello All,
I just ended up buying two of these phones from ebay while they were at $125, pretty amazing deal. They arrived yesterday, i unlocked with the provided codes and it updated the firmware to version 4.6.4. I'm on t-mobile network and not AT&T. I thought the firmware was only supposed to update for the AT&T users to 4.64 and 4.6.3 for the other unlocked GSM's? Anyways, here we are.
So I just have one question. Are there any compatible apks for Google Play Store/ Services that are working with this latest firmware? I'm probably one of the lone wolves here but i don't really mind the FIRE OS, just really would like to get my apps that require google services on this phone.
I'd like to also thank everyone who contributes to these forums, you all are great!
In general, yes, but Play services will cause inconvinence because people need to use workarounds to keep Play services below a certain version, this leads to the next "problem": some apps will complain about the Play services version, but continue to work (more or less).
You can install 4.6.3 (how to: see here) if you rely heavily on the Google Play environment, since it works properly on this version.
Yes, you can install 4.6.3 "GSM unlocked" version on a netlocked device (on any device, actually, doesn't matter if it came from a AT&T, O2 or T-Mobile bundle).
No, it won't update to 4.6.4, because all OS variants are independent and have their own update channel.
Bottom line: Google Play Store & services...
• ...work well on the "GSM unlocked" OS versions - 35.4.6.1 (461013820) and 35.4.6.3 (463001620).
• ...doomed on the "AT&T" OS versions - 32.4.6.1 (461013320) and 32.4.6.4 (464000420)
• GER version of the OS was problematic as well, tested it myself in the beginning (just as another example)

Don't let the numbers confuse you, it doesn't really mean anything at this point.
They chose to partner up with AT&T and this resulted in having a separate version.
Even with an unlocked phone, the OS version doesn't change ofc., it just affects the netlock which is stored in the hardware.
Thanks for the help! Finally got my Google services up

Link for the AT&T (Locked) 4.6.3 bin update??

Hey guys... I'm ready to start flashing/testing a few thing with the Fire Phone before giving it to my kid (for his birthday).... one thing I'd like to try is staying with 4.6.3 AT&T version of the OS.... have anyone seen the link for that version?... I swear I saw it when browsing the forums before getting the phone, and forgot to bookmark it.
AT&T doesn't have 4.6.3. Their latest is 4.6.4. Most people prefer Amazon 4.6.3 because it's the one that works best work Google Play services. 4.6.3 is not considered a downgrade compared to 4.6.4. They both have the latest stage fright patches.
I believe this is the link for AT&T 4.6.4

Nokia N1 identification and Flashing Taiwan Firmware Help please!

Hi guys,
So i would love to purchase a Nokia N1 but it seems that the Taiwanese version is ultra rare and I really need google play services.
Anyway I have been looking on the forums and its been a long time since I have flashed anything and I am a bit scared about all the horror stories of bricked N1's and the lack of very clear noob guides on how to convert to Tawienese firware and actual have it working without issue.
Can any one tell me if it is worth purchasing the chinese version and will I actually be able to get it play services working or is it too much of a hassle for a noob and still too unstable when flashed?
I also wondered if the packaging label for the taiwan model differs from the chinese model? Is the Taiwanese model manufactured in Shenzhen or in Taiwan?
I have a picture of the label of the one I was going to purchase but I think it may be chinese version....
Any info and help identifying it would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks
ship with Android 5.0 can flash Taiwanese version even if it is Chinese version.
I cannot recommend at buying Nokia N1. Device itself is fantastic but I cannot say the same about software. If you get the Chinese version with Android 5.1.1 (very likely) there is no way to downgrade it to previous 5.0 Android version that can be rooted. Without root there is no Google Play. There are some guides how to downgrade 5.1.1 version to 5.0 but you will only brick your device if trying any of those methods. There is almost zero community support for Nokia N1 and because of this I don't believe we are ever going to see a root for newer Android 5.1.1 version.
If you need Google Play (Android device without Google Play is a crap) please do yourself a favor and buy something else like Samsung Galaxy S2 8.0

Thanks for the info. I ended up finding a real nokia N1 on eBay from taiwan with Googleplay services installed, so all good. Don't need root so think I will just update normally through OTA. Should be OK I think. I agree chinese one looks like too much hassle.

3UK version

Hello everyone! I live in Ukraine and bought my Razer Phone at a local store, but after the purchase I discovered that this is a Three version (a big "3" logo on boot). As far as I know, physically the device is 100% identical to the regular version sold on Amazon and RazerStore, if it is not - please correct me. As I understand, it isn't locked for a certain operator. Are there any differences in the 3UK firmware except the delays in updates and logo at startup? Is it possible to install a stock Razer Global firmware? If so, is it worth doing it?
Have a read around as there are a few posts regarding this topic.
3UK have been 1-2 weeks behind on getting MR1 and MR3 released compared to the offical Razer images. MR2 went live for non branded phones but had some bugs so 3UK skipped this update.
I belive razer fixed those bugs in MR3 and then 3UK took this stable build and tweaked it for their network before sending it out to their customer a week or so later along with the MR3 patch notes and just inculded the working bit of that update in their MR3.
Images are found here but id get advice from others as this is my 1st Android phone and still running the 3UK branded phone as im on their network.

Do you think that there are some tweaks for their network? I'm asking because only one of my two SIM cards works with my phone, both of them are not 3UK.

In the guides section there is a guide for "debranding a 3 UK handset". It involves flashing global mr1 software and taking the OTA to MR3. People in that forum swear by it. Start there.
