New guy problems - Amazon Fire Phone

I'm new to hacking phones and I was wondering if somebody could walk me through how to root my phone and do all the stuff that I need to do to have a good phone. I've got the new kindle fire phone.

Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum.

Looking for a good Android forum

So this is my main forum that I check Evo news... but I am always afraid to ask a question because someone could tell me that my question is silly and to do a forum search before I ask. I also noticed most of the questions I would like to ask are my more Android than Evo question.
So my question is... is there an Android forum people could recommend that is Newbie friendly, and good to Evo people? I figured I would ask here as there are so many Android forums and, if you point me in the right direction, I will never have to bother you will the my stupid questions.
Androidcentral.com is my favorite been going there since my G1 days great people and very helpful.
Uh, just do a search, and if you can't find an answer, ask. #HTC-EVO on Freenode is a good place to get some help, and Google and Wikipedia can be useful too.
Sprint Android Forum
I'm a moderator over at SprintDroids.com. Our forum is geared specifically towards Android phones on the Sprint network. Currently we have about 1200 registered users and we get more and more every day. We are very newbie friendly, and everybody there is very eager to help out any way they can. Sign up, post a welcome thread, I'm sure you'll enjoy it over there. My s/n is MetalHead there as well (except w/o the underscores) so don't forget to say hi if you sign up. Hope to see you over there

Yeah, best and possibly the largest general Android forum. You can also try the Evo section of PPC forums.
XDA is indeed really hostile toward 'newbies', but has the most information/hacks/roms/themes by far.

new xda user

Hi i'm Drie and i wanted to introduce myself and say i find most of the information here helpful and useful. I am very interested in rooting my phone and I must say that a lot of you have some great ideal but they are not working for me. I know there are some SUPER TECHS on this sight that may want to entertain a new user by giving her a step by step manual (rooting for dummies) on how to root an HTC EVO 4g.
Ive read thread and watch lots of videos and still my phone is not rooted.... HELP
Drie
Welcome to the site; it's a great place.
From what I have found is, it is easier to do things by reading directions; I never get things done in the videos.
Oh and a big problem for a lot of people; when downloading and putting the update or bootloader zipped folders onto the phone, only name them root or update or whatever, leave out the .zip part; that messed me up and I was clueless for an hour or so.
rooting
when i say that i tried to root the phone, that means i made an attempted at it, but since i know nothing about rooting a phone every word seems foreign to me. I need instuctions from the very beginning.
Welcome to the forum.
There is a good guide HERE and another HERE.
The first one does a good job of explaining the terminology.
Hi. I'm Ed.
Just hijacking this thread to say hi too. Been browsing xda for nearly a year now using it to upgrade and root my desire. Just found out I need 10 posts before I can ask technical questions. Oh well, 9 to go.
Thanks for all the sound advice I've found on here. And it shows its a decent forum if I haven't needed to ask a question in nearly a year.

So, I'm not the only one trying to build my post level so I can ask stuff?

same situation as you, this place is awesome just need a few more posts though.
Hey guys!
Can anyone use this thread to get post count up so we can ask in the dev sections?
I am fairly new, been lurking around for a month or two now.
I have an Evo, rooted, with Mik-froyo Rom v4.5 beta 5

so asking in the Q&A we don't get dev help? or do ya'll mean just to ask about ROM's specifically?
I have to agree with quite a few of you here - I read threads here for about 2 to 3 weeks before ever signing up - finally I had to lol (got soo many questions) - also went to post in the development section and found out I couldn't post there - though I can't remember why I was going to post there first - maybe that was where one of the instruction threads I was reading was posted

[Q] Downside to root/unlock?

Hello and Merry Christmas,
Is there currently any downside to rooting and unlocking the LGOG?
I assume it will void warranty and is not undoable. I heard it messed up some peoples network connection?
I have best buy warranty... If i needed to take my phone in for repair would they care if rooted or not?
Thanks

Please learn and love the search section of.this wonderful site. All your questions u listed in a Thread are already answered elsewhere. Yes there are ALWAYS inherit risks when you do anything to your phone . There also awesome good things that can happen learn, read, and then if you don't understand ask a question in the place where it is already been asked if you can. I did the same.thing and someone told me.this very thing. Good luck and Merry Christmas and happy new.year. message me if u have trouble.searching. hint.....development section.

Not only did you not answer my question, but you did not even help guide me toward an answer. I'm looking around thee "dev section" (which one? there are two?) and I don't see answers to my questions. The search function on this site is horrible.
The purpose of the Q&A section is to ask questions and receive answers.
What is your problem?
BTW: I ended up rooting/unlocking and it was very simple. I do not think there is any downside at this time.

[Q] Best place to get a "Riff box" from?

My bad sorry about that.
Anyone?
I'm in need of a box ASAP as I need the phone.
Thanks
Your best bet is to send your bricked phone to mobiletechvideos.
Just buying a riff box wont magically fix your phone. You have to learn how to connect your phone to the box, how to interface with the computer, unless you know what you are doing, the riff box is as useful ss a boat anchor.

Thanks for the reply I know how to follow info
Also going to get the Jtag adapter that's made for the
I747m. I want to also get the box since I would be the only
One in Eastern Canada to get one so I could provide services here.
So any good place to get the box? Are the 2 that I posted reliable?
Thanks
Wow thanks guys for the help.
I thought asking on a site like this I would get an a fast answer since this is a site to ask a question like I have asked.
But guess I was wrong since I have yet to get an answer.
Hopefully not to late!

This may be a tad bit ti late, but yes the sites you suggested are reliable riffbox vendors. My best suggestion would be to visit the official site (riffbox dot org) as they post all of their officially supported vendors there. I myself have been looking for one as well and researched it for sometime and came across early on the primary site. After browsing through the list those 2 that you posted are indeed there. Good luck and hopefully this answered your question.
Don't take your anger out on the actual XDA site, not all questions stand out right away where users are caught by the title and or may or may not have enough knowledge to answer every question that is being asked.
Remember that XDA nor myself can be held responsible for anything that may go wrong by any means of a bad transaction or making a decision soley based on a response from any user here. Take what is said as a suggestion and may be good to use Google as it can be very useful to find information the way I did prior to coming across this question!
Good Luck!!!
P.S. If you end up purchasing one or have done so already post your results on how everything worked out and if at all possible help others as we have tried to help you! I personally would love to hear the results!

[Q] Should I Buy?

I have the Droid DNA but merely a year and a half in to it I've lost OS upgrade support from Verizon and HTC. If I upgrade to the One M8
1. Is it a good phone?
2. Will the same thing happen to the One that happened to DNA in only a year?
3. Is there root available?
Thanks in advance
Dude sorry to bash you and say this...but these questions are the most stupid someone ever asked...read through these threads/forum here and you see there is root otherwise there wouldn't be any Roms and kernels and whatever and if you would really read more about HTC news etc you would see this phone is superior and the update support will be 24 month or so active...so please never ask again such questions lol
And post questions in the Q&A section....not the general. What do you think Q&A stands for ?
1: do you think its a good phone
2: ask HTC
3: obviously....if you would have taken the time to check the many threads that cover root questions......
Thread moved to Q&A and Closed
All the answers you'll need are found above and would've easily been found if you'd even only had a quick look through the M8 forum.
Besides, asking a bunch of people who already have this phone whether you should buy this phone is pretty much guaranteeing you one response.
I'll close this as the answers are already here and because pesky trolls love threads like this and I'd rather not use too much troll repellent
